This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The pure definition of art in all its glory. This record is simply otherworldly, a musical trip where Lana drives you to the most magical lakes, glades, cliffs and remote forests. But also to the most dangerous and exciting moments where the 50s film arrives its climax of max adrenaline. And finally, through the deeps of her heart and the sorrow it lays there. Renowned artist such as Grimes and Adele already praised this album with similar (but not as intense) words, and truly, for a reason.

Underrated as hell, Honeymoon stands as one of the best works of the powerful and blessed hands, mind and voice of Lana Del Rey

Lana Del Rey is like a poet in the music universe. She is always trying to make something different, with a philosophical and emotional style in her lyrics and dark melodies. This is clearly shown in “Ultraviolence” and now in “Honeymoon”.

Lana had got into 70’s to make this album, getting elements in music and style to put on it. The record is subtle and emotional deep in all the tracks and the lyrics connects perfectly to the melodies, in a sexy and romantic way. Sometimes it can be somewhat sad, mainly the last songs, because of the slow rhythm, although it is just like “Ultraviolence”: deep in a dark way.
The singers are always trying to reinvent their music style, but a few of them can do it well like Lana and “Honeymoon” just confirm that she can put new stuff on her music and it is still good, so that’s why she is one of the most important singers in alternative music.

Listen to: Terrence Loves You, High By the Beach, Art Deco and The Blackest Day.

Lana Del Rey's slow, melancholy, atmospheric music is an acquired taste. If her music doesn't work for you, this album isn't going to change your mind. But for fans, it's probably the most coherent and fully-realized album she's put out (though I'm partial to Ultraviolence). Definitely worth listening to.

This is an excellent album. Lana has never failed to excite me with her music, however Ultraviolence wasn't as good as she could have done. Del Rey is a remarkably talented artist that has received a lot of negative press due to her -air quote- strange personality and comments made by her. Do not let this deter you from enjoying her music. Honeymoon is perhaps her most mature and least autobiographical album yet, drawing inspiration from the jazz greats, film and noir, Trap style beats present of lead single 'High by The Beach", and her trademark love of icons- such as Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, and David Bowie. Honeymoon is cinematic, dark, and often downtempo. One factor of the album that stops it from being awarded a perfect 10 would be that some of the slower songs can feel monotonous to 'outsider' listeners or people who do not typically enjoy this style of music. The inclusion of the track "High by The Beach" , a decent song its own right though not her strongest, seems to have been included on the album as a way of creating a radio playable song for the album as a form of promotion. Honeymoon is not Lana's best album. It's nothing like the best one, Ultraviolence but it's good. You may initially feel that all the songs are similar but they're really not, each song has its own melody and message. This is the creativeness of Lana Del Rey, she manages to create a cohesive album but at the same time shows minimal but hear-able diversity in the songs. The most underrated album of Lana Del Rey. Yet this is one of her most elegant and cohesive sounding albums she has released. Its tracks are all laid back and stripped down while some tracks like Freak, Art Deco, Blackest Day, and High by the Beach got trap beats but it is still soft. Soft yet it goes hard. This is certainly Lana Del Rey's sleepiest album yet - and that's not necessarily a bad thing. After mastering a baroque pop sound for her debut "Born to Die" and then turning to grunge rock for "Ultraviolence," her third effort takes a jazzy turn, mixing her alternative sound with soft brass notes and even more haunting vocals that we've grown accustomed to. It's a slow burner album - as some of the more biting lyrics come later, and most of the tracks are slow. Yet, they're addicting. There's an urgency and intensity within the softer sounds of "Honeymoon" that makes it work. And the songwriting is on-point as usual. Lana's subversion of a honeymoon - normally a happy time of bliss - makes this a project reflective of the lost American romanticism she so often sings about.

The first time I heard Honeymoon I thought it was dull and boring, but after listening a few more times, it's really grown on me. If anyone doubted that Lana had any musical talent and was just the product of a well-crafted image and some clever producers, perhaps Honeymoon will finally put those doubts to rest.

There are a few standout tracks here, namely "Music to Watch Boys to," "High by the Beach," and "Blackest Day," but for the most part the album is a very cohesive singular work that is clearly the vision of an artist who knows exactly what she wants her music to sound like. If anyone wants to know what separates an album from merely a collection of songs, Honeymoon is the perfect example. It is slow, hypnotic, melancholy, cinematic, and lush, but there's still enough variety in the production to give each song just enough distinctive character to make it an interesting listen.

One thing that intrigues me about Lana is that the more famous she gets, the less commercial her music becomes. She really couldn't care less what people think about her. She's just making old-fashioned music with a modern twist that she can listen to while getting stoned, and the world is all the better for it. With Honeymoon she has definitely finished carving out that niche that she's been working on since Born to Die, and she's making music that no one else is making in a way that few artists would dare to try. So, thank you, Lana, for making your music a priority rather than your popularity. This is definitely an album she should feel proud of.

Lana's best work by far, it reunites all the best things of her previous records, it isn't too artificial like born to die or too light like paradise or too heavy like ultraviolence, is unique, and as a fan, after this record, i'm more excited for what she may bring in the future

I wasn't expecting much, but I am very surprised now. In my opinion, Honeymoon is as good as Ultraviolence, maybe even better. Is good to see how much her music has evolved since Born to Die. I specially loved Freak, Art Deco and Salvatore. Great album.

Without even listening to the beautiful lyrics, there is a sense of drama to the melancholy music. From start to finish she traps the listener in a dream; the dream is one that walks the line between a beautiful one and a nightmare. The slow, loopy rhythms emphasize this with a hypnotic quality. All in all a beautiful, melancholic album. Expand

Lana Del Rey has proven herself as a stand alone artist of this decade. With her first 3 albums (well 2 but Paradise is long enough to be a LP) giving a set-stoned standard for her as an artist. With these reacuring and sometimes annoyingly redundant lyrics about her falling for a bad guy and be a fool for it. But with this new record Honeymoon she still manages to keep those themes alive while smoothly covering them with new ones. Although this may seem condescending but truthful she takes that theme of being a fool and falling for the bad guy and put's quiet a unique spin on it. A very stand-out track is "Religion." Telling us as an audience that this man is her "religion" and she relies on him was new and nice, kinda refreshing. Other reacuring stuff happening that takes a more unique turn is the instrumentation. There is still that movie like feel to it but added with a bit of jazz and some drum machines. Yes, she has had drum machines on her other records but it's (once again) new and refreshing.

Take a listen to it. It is defiantly a good and enjoyable record.

Its sad to see the hate thrown at her as if she did anything directly to anyone. You have no life if all you do is shame her and others that adore her. I dislike artists like Jason Derulo and Pitbull but I will be damned if I stooped down to a pathetic level as of the ''haters'' and write hate messages, comments, and reviews. If you don't like her and her music please write content that give complimentary reasons as to why, good reasons to dislike, because how is she a bad influence? If it wasn't for Lana a lot of her fans wouldn't even have discovered a lot of influential artists and events from the past. Lana does have tendency to be receptive in terms of some vocabulary, that does not make her a bad artist at all, Bye at all the ignorant, selfish people out there. Lets not get started on the person hating and uses Lorde and Mariana against her LOOOOOL, basic (I love their music though). Why would someone just have the ugly personality to put down artists and their fans that adore her is B E Y O N D me. The only fans I hate is Arianators I will admit. Back to the album its a fantastically produced, sung, and written album. Songs like 'Terrence Loves You' basically is the reason she IS talented, don't play. This album may have like one or two weak songs. The album in general has a couple of flaws but Lana now knows her place in the industry and and how to work with it so a lot of this was kind of on purpose?? The album (like any album) should be judged on whether or not you like this style, if you don't like it, why would someone really embarrass themselves and ridicule an artists and beloved fans because they don't like the music, sad, really. I literally only seen more than two people give actual good reasons as why they dislike Lana or any artists in all honesty. Expand

Again Del Rey creates a beautifully retro album, and though its pretty and soft, I feel a disconnect. This is probably the first album in Del Rey's career without a clear concept. The singles are the best tracks and deserve to be on repeat. Download: High by the Beach, Music to Watch Boys By, Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood.

Honeymoon feels like a bit of everything Lana has done. It has some Born to Die vibes, some Paradise vibes, some Ultraviolence vibes, and even some pre del Rey A.K.A. vibes. The first single High By The Beach is super nice and fun, Born to Die-ish. It's not quite representative for the album though. Terrence Loves You and the Blackest Day are two of the most outstanding cuts on this album, they're both very emotional and the singing style is slightly different than we're used to from Lana. Other good tracks are Salvatore, with the genius 'soft ice cream' lyric, Art Deco, which feels like a semi diss track with a perfect dull trap hiphop beat, and 24. 24 is literally a lost James Bond soundtrack. Lana has many of them but I personally think this is the most James Bond-ish of them all.

Weaker moments are the irritating verses on Freak. Freak is such a weird song. It has some really good moments (like the beat and lyrics in the chorus) but some really awful ones too. It's a bit of everything I guess. The forever known (as in, known by title + highly anticipated track by fans) Music To Watch Boys To isn't really what I expected it to be. I was ready for some Off To The Races/ West Coast 2.0 track but it's honestly just a bit boring.

My least favorite tracks on this record are Religion and Swan Song, they just don't stand out enough. I've been listening to this album for 2 months and I still can't really remember them.
