maybe the lyme disease got to her head, and made her forget how to make a consistent and fun body of work.

"Head Above Water" is an album that I enjoyed listening to. The ballads are mostly meaningful (significantly "I Fell In Love With The Devil") and the rest of the album is pretty decent. It actually feels like an older album if we think about the sound of others 2019's albums, but it fits Avril's style and that's what's essential. The only feature, "Dumb Blonde" is a perfect example because"Head Above Water" is an album that I enjoyed listening to. Its not her best work. But the vocal and instrumental on this album is deserve to get some praise eventhough half of the album is lil bit 'lost' the feel.

I gave this 10 because I really love Avril since I was 12 and I don't want her to see flop. Dumb Blonde is really out of place. She should've included that trash generic song for the deluxe edition.

Head Above Water the song was the only good track, after one listen there is no desire in going back to it. Very dated and boring, her worst album and a big flop in commercial success.

Head Above Water is a brilliant and deep album about Avril's fight with lyme disease. She released 3 beautiful MV's (HAW, Tell Me It's Over and I Fell In Love With The Devil).

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I mean, Head Above Water is a masterpiece; I Fell in love with devil, was produced and written only by Avril and it has a deep meaning, It was in me reminds me a bit of I'm With You

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I don't like commercial music and I don't follow pop artists. My son made me listen to this album, and I was so surprised. I don't think it's easy today to work with such courageous and experimental sounds, not at all stereotyped or fashionable. This seems to me an album that collects the best of the traditions of soft music, but also with very pronounced melodic and progressive echoes. I think an artist like this should be followed and respected not for the previous pop-rock based success, but starting from this album, so honest. songs like Head Above Water, Love Me Insane, Crush, Tell Me It's Over, I Fell In Love With The Devil, Warrior and It Was in Me represent the best of the best in pop music today. She’s become her own worst nightmare – boring.

The best tracks here are those which delve into the power ballads that we know Lavigne can produce so effectively. But other than the album's self-titled lead single and It Was In Me, with soaring orchestrals and subtle keys paving the way for her lung-bursting croons, it feels much like a lost Lavigne seeking a sound that’ll just keep her afloat.

On every track, the mad-libs are paired with stylistically diverse arrangements--and invariably plodding tempos. The album’s lone sugar spike is “Dumb Blonde,” a rehashed “Girlfriend” that features a phoned-in Nicki Minaj guest verse midway through and, for some reason, a pre-chorus melody yanked from Lipps, Inc.’s “Funky Town.” In spite of everything, Head Above Water offers one brief moment where Lavigne’s emotional alchemy assumes a bolder musical form that’s properly befitting of her powerhouse vocals and enduring authenticity: the opening stunner of a title track.
