    Lavigne passou 2 anos em sua cama certo? esse álbum retrata bem o que a mulher passou e viveu, enfrentou a morte e a derrotou e fez sua Vitória em um álbum surpreendentemente bonito, as mensagens que as músicas passam e claro o significado que cada uma tem para lavigne, uma de minhas favoritas foi birdie e tenho certeza que falo em nome dos fãs que ela poderia ser seu próximo single.

    I don't understand the low critic score for this album. It's very different than the old Avril, but she has matured and been through a lot. I also don't understand the comments about the track order being confusing. It literally tells a story, from start to finish.     Change is the only constant. I know this is a different Avril from the one I fell in love with, but I'm not 15 anymore. She has grown so much over the past decade. To the older me, this is by far her best work.

É um disco com bastante baladas que falam sobre o período difícil que ela passou com a doença de Lyme, mas também fala muito sobre relacionamento abusivo. A Avril fez um projeto bem nostálgico e forte, e, claramente com os vocais mais poderosos. Faixas como Birdie e I Fell in Love With the Devil mostra que a cantora está evoluindo bastante.     This album is not perfect, but is really a great one. You can hear Avril Lavigne's struggles while singing songs such as "Head Above Water", "I Fell In Love With The Devil" and "Birdie". Her voice is so raw and honest, the melody and the production in most songs are so f****** good. It gives me goosebumps everytime. There are also sweet, bop songs that takes back memories of the summerThis album is not perfect, but is really a great one. You can hear Avril Lavigne's struggles while singing songs such as "Head Above Water", "I Fell In Love With The Devil" and "Birdie".     I loved this album! Songs all together create whole story and that's cool.
    "I fell in love with the devil" - lirycally awesome. Melody and the heartbeat make me feel like if I was the one, from whom those emotions come from. That's one of the best songs she has ever created!
    "It was in me" - When I first listened to it, I cried. It's a very beautiful song in which lyrics matches melody.    I loved this album! Songs all together create whole story and that's cool.

    The opening track 'Head Above Water' shows Avril at her lowest point of her illness, she sings "Yeah, my life is what I'm fighting for, Can't part the sea, can't reach the shore", soft vocals give us a vulnerable insight from the bed she was unable to escape, but she shows she's ready to fight this Lyme's disease illness with a powerful chorus that takes us back to 2004 album 'Under MyThe opening track 'Head Above Water' shows Avril at her lowest point of her illness, she sings "Yeah, my life is what I'm fighting for, Can't part the sea, can't reach the shore", soft vocals give us a vulnerable insight from the bed she was unable to escape, but she shows she's ready to fight this Lyme's disease illness with a powerful chorus that takes us back to 2004 album 'Under My Skin', but this a grown up Avril and the following Track 'Birdie' continues the strong lyrical content and theme of feeling trapped, the punchy verses and loud drums are a million miles from her pop singles of recent albums, this is the pop in which Avril shines. Track 3 'I Fell In Love With The Devil', an impressive song that sounds like classic Adele or Lana, you'd be inclined to see if she had sought the co-writers of those artists, but this is self-written by Lavigne herself and it's lyrics talk of being in love in a toxic relationship, "Shotguns and roses make a deadly potion", sweeping strings and haunting vocals make this an album highlight. Dumb Blonde harks back to vintage bratty Avril, it's a weak link but you can't help but find yourself immersed in catchy hooks and hard hitting lines "I can flip like a switch and I cut like a blade, I can sting like a bee, but I'm sweeter than honey", 'It Was In Me' with stunning vocals that see Lavigne talk abut the moment she realised she could find a happy place within herself, beautiful strings that hark back to her classic ballad 'I'm With You', it really feels like we are getting Avril at her best. The second half of the album is lighter, 'Souvenir' a grown up continuation of her 'Let Go' days is solid. Avril declares her fears of being crushed by her new lover in the jazzy track 'Crush', another track set to beautiful piano and strings and in 'Goddess', only Avril could get away with lyrics "He treats me like a goddess, goddess, He thinks I'm sexy in my pajamas, The more I am a hot mess, the more he goes bananas", set to acoustic guitars. The self-produced final track 'Warrior' gives us Avril letting us know she has won her battle. Sweeping strings, a backdrop of much of 'Head Above Water' and empowering vocals, it's a fitting ending to this album. The standout songs 'Birdie', 'I Fell In Love With The Devil' & 'It Was In Me' are some of Avril's best songs to date and for the most part it's a solid record, Let down by 'Dumb Blonde' and lack of variety on the back end of the album, where Avril starts to veer back into some of the basic lyrics that have often let her down. We see her potential and maybe one day we will get a great Avril Lavigne album, if not you know you are always guaranteed a few great songs.… Expand

I don't think it's easy today to work with such courageous and experimental sounds, not at all stereotyped or fashionable. This seems to me an album that collects the best of the traditions of soft music, but also with very pronounced melodic and progressive echoes. I think an artist like this should be followed and respected not for the previous pop-rock based success, but starting from this album, so honest. songs like Head Above Water, Love Me Insane, Crush, Tell Me It's Over, I Fell In Love With The Devil, Warrior and It Was in Me represent the best of the best in pop music today.… Expand

    I gave this 10 because I really love Avril since I was 12 and I don't want her to see flop. Dumb Blonde is really out of place. She should've included that trash generic song for the deluxe edition.

    A mature album, excellent lyrics and instrumentals. Despite of "Dumb Blonde" being a bit lost in the tracklist, the record is still awesome. The choruses and bridges are incredible.

This album proves that she isn't just a vintage act that's doomed for bleak reminiscing but a powerful vocalist that could rival any relevant artist in the modern pop scene. There are obvious missteps but if you look beyond, the overall output makes them forgettable which is aI grew up listening to her songs and hearing this refreshing new sound and direction from her is such a blessing. This album proves that she isn't just a vintage act that's doomed for bleak reminiscing but a powerful vocalist that could rival any relevant artist in the modern pop scene.     This album was made to showcase Lavigne's voice - the fact that she was even able to make an album, and sound as incredible as she does (really the best vocals of her career) is an act of defiance and a huge accomplishment in itself, given her health issues. But even with that aside, this is a fantastic album that has some of the best songs of her career.

    I understand, to a degree, why critics don't love it. I can see why some might say it's disjointed or lacks cohesion, but I disagree. It tells a story from start to finish, with different styles and sounds that I think make up an interesting and diverse record. It genre-hops, like her previous album, which is something I really appreciate about Avril. I don't think she has ever fully found her groove when it comes to music, which I find artistically intriguing - she's always trying something new, seeing what works for her and then moves on to something else. Sometimes the choices are unexpected or puzzling, but that means you never know what you're going to get, which I think makes Lavigne an exciting artist to follow. The jazzy/soul vibe on Tell Me It's Over and Crush suit her voice insanely well, in my opinion.

    This has been fluctuating a lot, but my favourites are Crush, It Was In Me, Tell Me It's Over and Birdie. Devil is an incredible song, but as with Head Above Water, it's pretty heavy and it's not a song I think I'd listen to constantly. But when I'm feeling moody it will definitely be a go-to. In general I'd say her verses are stronger than her choruses - I love the verses of every single song (Souvenir's verses are a highlight of the album for me). A strength of Avril's has always been her melodies.

    As a lifelong Avril fan, it's not often I get to be excited over new music, so I am taking full advantage. Biased as I may be, I do believe this is a very strong album that deserves more praise than it's getting from critics. Her voice is better than ever, and I'm excited to see what unexpected turns she takes in her music next.    … Expand

    This album is such a emotional and insprirational, of course there are a couple of songs that don't connect with the drama and the feeling of the album, but the songs like it was in me, Birdie and I feel in love with the Devil are so deep and well done. Avril's voice is so clear that you can't feel the feeling of each balad song . congrats Avril , I'd love to give you a hug.

    I literally can’t believe that one of the best albuns released so far this year has only 55 on it’s metascore. The album it’s not perfect only because the songs “Goddess” and “Dumbe Blonde” were nothing to do with the vibe of it, but the concept, the lyrics... It’s so cohesive and a great record, where Lavigne shows her battle to find her health and hapiness fighting against her disease,I literally can’t believe that one of the best albuns released so far this year has only 55 on it’s metascore.     This album is the real masterpiece of Avril's career. Intimate, personal, calm, profound. Dumb Blonde is the most pathetic song on the album, which does not match the rest of it. Could be discarded or taken advantage of another time. Head Above Water (Song) remains the best along with Tell Me It's Over.

Head Above Water is an awesome pop album and she did a good job here, especially after suffering from her Lyme disease that has caused her many mental problems.     I don't get why the songwriting got so much hate by critics. At least she wrote the songs by herself unlike a lot of stars today who don't write a word on their albums. Overrall, it's not a bad album. There are some fillers but the good songs overshadow them. Highlights: Head Above Water, Tell Me It's Over, Dumb Blonde, Goddess and Warrior.     The record sounds like Lavigne is trying to remember who she was, is, and who she is supposed to become as time goes by and the audience's tastes evolve, which makes the album sound unauthentic and little cohesive, making it hard for Lavigne to retain her well-deserved place in the popular musical landscape. The first single and title track "Head Above Water" promised to take Lavigne into the next chapter and somehow failed to deliver in spite of being a great ballad, and judging by subsequent singles "Tell Me Its Over" (deliciously soaked in Memphis Soul) and the forced (and tired) "Dumb Blond" (a collaboration with Nicki Minaj) demonstrate that Avril is in danger of losing track in her musical evolution, something that was somehow foreshadowed in her previous self-titled album "Avril Lavigne".

    Nevertheless, this doesn't entail the album doesn't have its memorable moments. Besides the aforementioned "Tell Me Its Over", the album includes the powerful ballads "It Was Me", "I Fell In Love With The Devil", "Crush" and "Goddess", that if anything, reminds us that Avril's vocals have gotten better and better and retain that powerful and striking feeling, something that her hard-core fans will surely be thankful for.    … Expand

However, it seems outdated and insipid currently, especially the production. Even old songs like Complicated and Innocence are much better.     The title track is definitely a strong, empowering song which opens the album perfectly. The second single released is also a great and soulful balad that I really wish that it was emulated more throughout the album. The rest of the songs just feels very boring and unimpressive and fails to deliver a great tracklist.

    5.- Dumb Blonde.- NICKI REALLY? jajajaja un pop muy a lo Girlfriend pero no llega a pegar tanto claro, le doy puntos por intentar repetir la fórmula. A ratos me suena a High School Musical, cuantos años tienes 13? No me gustó para nada. La parte de Nicki suena bien pero desconectada. NEXT

    The title of the album hints to the one and only good track on the album. Avril totally wasted a chance to make a good album since her last 2 were really disappointing. But this is just useless. 9/12 songs are so basic that if anybody out here sing them there would be no difference. What a pity.

Not surprised this album received the ratings it did from its critics. Not a single song from this album appealed enough to me to download or get into. Not surprised this album received the ratings it did from its critics. Not a single song from this album appealed enough to me to download or get into. Things like how she pronounced "bananas" in Goddess just solidified how much of a joke this all seems to be. On top of that, the album was delayed for many years. My frustration is so long and deep that I don't even know in which order to sum it all up. I'll always have a special place for her in my heart because she was practically my entire childhood and young adulthood, but mainly because of how her lyrics haven't grown at all, I'll have to leave my stan card here. I'll give her next album a listen, but until then my feelings will stay this way.… Expand

    The best tracks here are those which delve into the power ballads that we know Lavigne can produce so effectively. But other than the album's self-titled lead single and It Was In Me, with soaring orchestrals and subtle keys paving the way for her lung-bursting croons, it feels much like a lost Lavigne seeking a sound that’ll just keep her afloat.

    On every track, the mad-libs are paired with stylistically diverse arrangements--and invariably plodding tempos. The album’s lone sugar spike is “Dumb Blonde,” a rehashed “Girlfriend” that features a phoned-in Nicki Minaj guest verse midway through and, for some reason, a pre-chorus melody yanked from Lipps, Inc.’s “Funky Town.” In spite of everything, Head Above Water offers one brief moment where Lavigne’s emotional alchemy assumes a bolder musical form that’s properly befitting of her powerhouse vocals and enduring authenticity: the opening stunner of a title track.
