Very solid album, had a lot of Pop Punk sounds, which isn’t bad but I’d thought we’d have more “Driver’s License” ballads on this album.

Overall good album, and a perfect follow up to her debut SOUR

It was just Olivia demonstrating once again her talent and her great voice adapting to new styles, such as Rock, from "All American **** with a rock concept Even a concept like "vampire" "the grudge" "teenage dream" however I give it a 9 because I feel that it could be seen as a continuation of "Sour" in the same way it still seems like a work of art to me. Love it or hate it, this album is an evolution from SOUR, if you want an album with 6 boring ballads that two years later I find those 6 songs hard to comeback to, then SOUR is the album for you. This isn’t a full blown attack on SOUR because I think it’s a solid debut effort, but the stakes on GUTS are raised. If you’re basic and cannot handle electric guitars and some vocal growling then this album isn’t for you about 60% of the time. While there are some cues from Avril I find 90s alternative rock (something the critics love by the way, which is the REAL reason it’s been mostly praised.) to be the biggest influence. The opener “all-american **** is where the Avril Lavigne influence is most strongly felt, opening with a light and airy verse reminiscent of folk-pop, before blasting into a raging ****y chorus. Another highlight is “get him back!” which serves as a piece of highly catchy indie pop rock perfection. And even if you’re attached to SOUR brand of tedious piano ballads, cuts like logical and the grudge will scratch that itch. Overall a near perfect follow-up album to one of the most impressive debuts by a mainstream artist in recent memory.

I think it’s a fantastic album overall, it captures EXACTLY what that genre is supposed to be. Why not a 10/10? I don’t know actually, i feel some songs could have been better in some little ways, but you know.. a 9/10 is also a GREAT score, it is almost perfect. I have like 7 favourite songs. So it’s pretty damn good. And i pretty much like all songs. So yeah. Good album!

We can see Olivia’s incredible talent through her new album “GUTS”. She really knows how to describe teenagers’ thoughts. “Bad idea, right?” would be the best track in this album, with great drum beats, which really makes me think of New Wave music in the 1990’s.

A gorgeous return from Olivia that not only sees her style evolve but her heart more open. Holding nothing back whether its songwriting or operatics,GUTS is a revelation that what doesn’t kill you might make you stronger. Higlights: all American **** him back, ballad of a home schooled girl, vampire, bad idea, right?

is Olivia Rodrigo the next great american dynasty?

Olivia just got out of the the stage in life where you think you know everything and have it all under control, and got into the stage where you basically know nothing... that forced her to mature up and be more open towards fields she hasn't played in before. The songwriting on this album is such a step up from Olivia's debut album,

Olivia just got out of the the stage in life where you think you know everything and have it all under control, and got into the stage where you basically know nothing... that forced her to mature up and be more open towards fields she hasn't played in before.

The songwriting on this album is such a step up from Olivia's debut album, SOUR.
The honesty and rawness is impeccable, the small references to her past / general pop cloture references are so clever and perfectly and seamlessly inserted into the songs.
She smartened up, she studied and learned a lot, and it simply shows all over her new music, adding so many layers of emotions and creativity.
With that being said, there are a bit too many repetitions of lyrics in some songs, which seemed unnecessary and avoidable.

The production is great, but I wish there'd be more diversity, because some songs sounds a bit similar to each other.

'GUTS' is a great sophomore album by this very talented girl, feels like a big, cleverer sister to 'SOUR'.
    Key-word 'GROWTH'.

Favorite Tracks: 'vampire', 'ballad oh a homeschooled girl', 'making the bed', 'get him back!', 'teenage dream'.

I love this album more then Sour. So much less ballad heavy and is more fun. And I love the Pop/Punk or Pop/Rock throughout many of the songs.

Generally a good sophomore album from Olivia, she continues to show her growth in her sound and dabbling into new genres. However, some of the rock influences sound repetitive throughout the album, which could have been done better. My favourites are making the bed, the grudge, and teenage dream.

Me gusta, tiene vibras de los años 2000, algo de rock, pop y letra un poco mas maduras qué el álbum pasado, pero en ciertas partes de las canciones encuentro muchas similitudes con SOUR, por eso mi calificación es 8

GUTS is the perfect example of being a teenager and growing into a young adult. Olivia may have not have brought a new sound but she’s gaining the experience! The metacritic reviews are overrated LOL. This is just a favourable album tho. But I should say the album is mainly influenced of Avril Lavigne, Paramore and Katy Perry (One of the Boys era). And I could agree that most songs in the album are SOUR's leftover. It's just her voice and lyrics that stand out.

First listen: I think I enjoyed SOUR better on its first listen. We'll see how it goes on subsequent listens.
Musically, I think this is more mature. Overall, lyrically there hasn't been much movement. OR has lots of room for growth and I look forward to it.

I think the lead singles are the strongest on the album. "bad idea right?" is spot on.

She shows her great talent!! But this album is honestly monochromatic (like her cover arts) it has not offered anything new or surprising, and in doing so shes repeated the same sound over and over. Lyric wise its great, it accomplishes a lot and the message gets across perfectly. I think the best songs on the album are get him back! And the grudge. Lyric-wise making the bed.

It does not bring a new sound to the Olivia experience. Yes more punk yet it heavily remind names like Baby Queen, Avril Lavigne and Paramore. However it still has the nice narrative element which carries the album again. Overall it is good but nothing new.

Almost a parallel to Sour, it's a good album with some great tracks (The two singles, All American..., Logical). Once again another album which will deservedly receive praise, but it's not a masterpiece and nobody will call this album a magnum opus. Her time will come though.

I’m not really a fan of her music, but this album is better than sour in my opinion. Her voice is good and most of the songs are kinda catchy but I don’t really like the preppy and rebel atmosphere behind this album. However i think she made something better for her second album and she really chose the last song well about growing up and getting old as the album’s closure

“Teenage Dream” recycles a song title of Katy Perry’s and echoes a twisty-turny melody of Lana Del Rey’s. Yet Rodrigo’s emotional presence is so strong throughout “Guts” — so believable even at its most unrelatable — that you never lose the sense of a specific young person navigating a trial of her own making.

GUTS is emphatic proof that Rodrigo isn't just good for a kid -- she's grown into an artist with plenty of things to say, and the confidence and eloquence to say them her way.
