Not my type of music. This just sounds so noisy and nothing special unless you like screaming... The ballads are better but just okay level. Couldn't understand the rave reviews from critics. It's a extremely overrated record.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is a good sophomore album and she serve no lies. However, there are too many skip that literally not repeatable, as of now. I saw some samples from 1D, Avril, and even Girl in Red. She overused the way it starts from sad/soft to rock. I like teenage dream, all-american... and get him back! tho. I admit, she's somehow good in lyrics, track listing, and even choosing what will be singles, however, this is good but I feel like Sour is way more good and some sophomore like Happier Than Ever or Harry's album that bring marks to everyone. At the end, sad to say but I still see Taylor and Lana resemblance/inspired on this album. Lastly, why she always choose to be the victim in her songs, she always been betrayed, and too many toxic lyrics and hate. Why can't she just make songs from her heart?

In the other hand, this and Speak Now TV absolutely the frontrunner for the best music of 2023.

This album is just a compilation of Disney Channel pop-rock rejects about a now grown teen taking a love delusion too far. Sorry Olivia, but writing your own lyrics is far from enough for being a good artist, especially with such a mediocre and obviously studio edited singing voice.

Honestly all these positive reviews dumbfound me because this one really isn’t all it was hyped up to be.—————————————————————

O álbum da olivia é melhor que o primeiro guts veio mais consistente. Mesmo assim ainda não teve aquele grande crescimento musicalmente o álbum é uma continuação do sour não me surpreendeu em nada.

This is worse than sour... It sounds the same as her older songs and there is no artistic evolution. I expected more tbh. The lyricism is something a 13 year old would write and the production has some good parts but her voice and the production don’t fit to the rock/grunge influence.

Impressionante como essa garota é o maior exemplo de industry plant. Do debut dela para esse album, não se vê praticamente nenhuma evoluçao. É o Sour 2.0. Completamente medíocre.

I was very much looking forward to this album, but I’m sorry to say that I am disappointed. It sounds a lot like an early aughts Avril Lavigne album, or a rockified knockoff Taylor Swift. The hooks disappoint, with decent build up but no emotional payoff. Lyrically, there are a lot of lines that are repeated multiple times, serving as filler between bars.

Yes, it is a heavier sound than sour, but apart from that I was disappointed, because her songwriting really has not improved imo. None of the songs got to me and i don't know how to say this, but lyrcis and music sometimes just don't match? you could've tried harder to find the perfect words, but you didn't.
I'm sure any young girl who loves her will disagree, but imo olivia is not worth

I'm sure any young girl who loves her will disagree, but imo olivia is not worth the hype, at least not from a musical pov. artists like conan gray are doing a better job at creating something that is really a work of art, but maybe this is just a expression and doesn't aim to be good, timeless music. everyone has different tastes, this one was not for me, i really wished for better songwriting, "compliments like bullets on my skin" just isn't good enough for me.

The clear influence of many artists is involved in this album. The project could have been a big deal IF they would've released it back in the 2000s.

The album is just an expansion of the sound brutal offered on her debut album, a sound that’s more of noisy, gimmicky and pretentious. Didn’t enjoy this record.

“Teenage Dream” recycles a song title of Katy Perry’s and echoes a twisty-turny melody of Lana Del Rey’s. Yet Rodrigo’s emotional presence is so strong throughout “Guts” — so believable even at its most unrelatable — that you never lose the sense of a specific young person navigating a trial of her own making.

GUTS is emphatic proof that Rodrigo isn't just good for a kid -- she's grown into an artist with plenty of things to say, and the confidence and eloquence to say them her way.
