Where do I start with this album? It’s like riding a rollercoaster that never ends. It’s like riding a rollercoaster that never ends. Presumptuously starting with the title track, “Future Nostalgia” gives an electric feel backed with women empowering lyrics to directly address the patriarchal society of 2020. “Don’t Start Now” (the lead single of the new record), describes a heartbreak which Lipa is not taking to heart, dancing through the storm. “Cool” is a fun little interlude which now shows Dua falling for someone else (we guess this is Anwar Hadid). It’s the coolest way to split up the two lead singles in the album. This song is also a double meaning, it seems as though it’s a song to let listeners cool down but in fact it’s literally the opposite. You cannot help but dance. “Physical” (the second lead single from the album) is called by Lipa as a “fun disco dance class” which is how everyone acts when they hear it. Fun and electric dancing with help from the 80s track vibe. “Levitating”, “Pretty Please”, “Hallucinate” and “Love Again” all have similar dancy vibes to them, with Hallucinate being the most viciously attacking on your joints because of its beat and rhythm. Pretty Please is more of a cool down song but still has the same vibes, calling her man pretty and begging for his love again, literally leading on to Love Again, which strings background makes the start sound like a ballad and a slower song, until the beat drops and she starts singing “I never thought that I would find a way out...But god damn you got me in love again”. Suggestingly aimed at her new lover, Hadid, the songs guitar and strings chorus hooks the listener to want more and more from this album. Moving on, “Break My Heart” (the newest 3rd single from the album) shows Lipa fully submerged in the love from her partner, even if it means he will break her heart in the future. She doesn’t think about the future in this song, only the present and the feelings she receives from him. “Good In Bed” swiftly follows on with these feelings and heightens them to next levels. It’s like going from dates (BMH) to literal sex (GIB). Good In Bed shows Dua’s maturity while also experimenting with new sound and lyrics. She has never done a song quite like this before, especially when she says “Yeah we don’t know how to talk, but damn we know how to f*ck”. Finally the outro song “Boys Will Be Boys” links back to the title track of Future Nostalgia, showing how masculinity has stretched to the fullest and now is scaring women (literally with them “putting keys between their knuckles when there’s boys around”). “I should’ve stuck to ballet” shows how Lipa is scared to be in the music industry which is based all around men in the patriarchal society we live in today (we which cannot accept is true). All in all, the sophomore album brings peace, dance and electricity all into one record. Congrats Dua! Expand

Boring and repetitive. This album is full of fillings. Only Don’t start now and physical are the best songs from it. When you listen to it once you don’t want to listen to it again. Lipa tries to bring back the 80’s sound but she lost her way in the process.

In 2017 I was criticising Dua Lipa for her lack of stage presence and personality and now I'm suddenly buying tickets to see her live in Barcelona in 2021. Since her eponymous debut studio album she has evolved from a little girl who wanted to make music so badly that followed the rules of the pop game in order to make a timeless song with no essence into a full beautiful confident woman that will do whatever is in her hands to change the game. The work in this album is very satisfying. It tastes like freedom and glory made possible by the coordination of producers, mixers, graphic artists, record label and the voice behind it. "Future Nostalgia" is simply magnificent. The title is exciting, the cover art is very attractive and its content is diverse, catchy, touching and moody. Her voice sounds so confident and floating that there is no reason to doubt her. It really has songs that will age like fine Italian wine, a concept, a modern sound and a social message at the end. It just has everything an album needs to be perfect.
I thought that pop royalty ended with Taylor Swift's '1989' six years ago but I was clearly wrong! Now that we have entered a new decade Dua is the most likely to define the game with this project and the upcoming ones. Since we are all home (I hope we ALL are home, if not, go home man what the ****), Dua Lipa has given us the best material to throw the most memorable clandestine house party to dance around with our beloved ones.
A debut album gives you the right to play around with different genres and not making much of a cohesive album but the second is the one that will define your career, your professional future in the industry and well, her future feels brighter than anyone's else, no joking. Despite--or perhaps because of--its brevity (just over 30 minutes), "Future Nostalgia" is arresting in its tension, passion, and undeniable creative ingenuity. See so I just want to thank Dua Lipa for this perfect album, an undeniable pop masterpiece filled with the most enjoyable Swedish pop sound mixed with melancholic disco music that will for sure reinvent the music industry and save us from another male-dominated hip-hop era. "Future Nostalgia" will be remembered as a goosebumpic discotheque blackout; a collection of pop majesty to dance away your anxieties to; one of the best pop albums to be released in recent memory.

Pretty Please is the calmest song on the album. This composition gives us pleasure and a little rest after the explosive Physical, Don't Start Now and Levitating.

Funky, disco vibes mixed into "now's" pop music. Future nostalgia is a complete banger/bop fest and a fully artistic body of work. Definitely album of the year so far. Dua Lipa's artistry at its finest!

An amazing piece of art. Album of the year, unquestionably. She has proven that she is the new main pop girl of the next decade. Keep up the good work

It is awful some of the worst tracks I’ve ever heard. The music seems rushed and unfinished and is no where near her best work. She’s trying desperately to please such a weird fanbase and failing miserably to even do that.

Dua Lipa has positioned herself as the true princess of pop with this album and it doesn’t look like she’s giving up that title any time soon.

Dua Lipa isn't afraid of speaking up her mind on her future nostalgia of broken hearted, loss, sex and her own self evolution. She nailed every song on her sophomore album, she really broke the cursed of the second album being her most successful album to date and making a better record than her debut album. This collection of songs, very cohesive, brings us 80s/90s pop vibes! She nailed every song on her sophomore album, she really broke the cursed of the second album being her most successful album to date and making a better record than her debut album. This collection of songs, very cohesive, brings us 80s/90s pop vibes! Her voice and vocals on this album is so strong, confident and powerful.. talking about the lyrics are just a masterpiece, she knows how to write a good song, she can't make a bad song, there is no single song in this album that you can't call "a bop". The production is wonderful and out of this world, she found the pop sound that a lot of pop girlies are chasing, she knew with who to work and how to make a good team for the album, even though a lot of songs were scrapped from the album like If It Ain't Me or Ball And Chain that are wonderful and perfect bops, we all can agree this is a pop perfection album. I can really see her winning Best Pop Vocal Album and (i hope) Album Of The Year at the Grammy's 2021, maybe she won't win Album Of The Year but i'm pretty sure she'll get those 2 nominations! I'm so proud of how this girl grew up as an artist and how her sound grew and got more mature as she kept growing and learning. This is one of the best pop albums in recent memory, Dua Lipa is now a main pop girlie. Expand

Small quibbles notwithstanding, Future Nostalgia is the perfect antidote to quarantine-induced cabin fever.

With this flawless effort, she manages to achieve both. Future Nostalgia could have just as well been titled "Future Classic."

Make no mistake, her risks are still very within the context of a 4/4 pop structure, but she still finds such color and joy in her surroundings it's hard not to get swept up in her energy. Such risk-staking, however, can still lead to a few moments that could've used a bit more polish.
