    Hey, I get that they sound too much like Led Zep for some. But they're young and with more experience, the songwriting will improve and a clearer direction may emerge, IMO. Still, a very good debut - almost as if an unreleased Zep album has been discovered and released. Recommended.

    They sound good, no one can deny that, but there's nothing new in their sound, because even beyond the comparison with Led Zeppelin... well I already have everything from Led Zeppelin and Led Zeppelin is much better by far. So for many they could be a reminiscence of a time when rock music was fresh and new but that's precisely what Greta Van Fleet lacks: freshness and novelty.

    Greta Van Fleet has a really cool Led-Zeppelin-esque sound and I cannot wait to see what they do next. This was a very solid debut

    It's only once every blue moon that I find a rock album that I obsessively listen to in full constantly. I love this album. I like that it evolves with every listen. At first I gravitated to catchy 'Black Smoke Rising'. Then 'Meet on the Ledge' really grabbed me by the b@lls. Then the classic 'Edge of Darkness' got my special attention for the final minute where it's just such aIt's only once every blue moon that I find a rock album that I obsessively listen to in full constantly. I love this album. I like that it evolves with every listen. At first I gravitated to catchy 'Black Smoke Rising'. Then 'Meet on the Ledge' really grabbed me by the b@lls. Then the classic 'Edge of Darkness' got my special attention for the final minute where it's just such a swing-fest. 'Talk on the Streets' was re-discovered for it's contemporary 'Indie' feel. Bit of Shins influence going on. Songs like 'Safari Song' and 'Highway Tune' I didn't find overly interesting at first but over time the hypnotic escapism of the repetitive riffs still totally hooked me. I know Led Zep and I know Greta. And at the moment I prefer the latter. Also saw them live as soon as I could. They're so shockingly young! The lead singer's speaking voice is like a cross between John Denver and Kermit the Frog, but his singing voice is just so good. The guitarist, the bassist all of them are terrific permormers.     A solid display of talent on every facet over an obviously derivative template but not a bad one, and, more importantly, a template that does not currently occupy the marquee.     The inspiration in Led Zeppelin is remarkable, but Greta Van Fleet achieves an interesting sound and they show their ability.

    An incredible album. If Fleetwood Mac and the Grateful Dead converged in a later decade. Sure, these guys resemble Zeppelin in his earlier phases, but the differences still persist. The melancholy notes, the thick, booming base chords, and the simple, undercurrent-running lyrics are surely something discrete from Led. Greta Van Fleet, emerging from Detroit with pure, unadultered sound, isAn incredible album. If Fleetwood Mac and the Grateful Dead converged in a later decade.     They’re playing the blues, man, and obviously, nobody does that anymore. And really, even on a good half of From the Fires, the fast-tracked major label signees don’t even try to really emulate their esteemed deities’ dangerous sexuality and, instead, bafflingly resort to half-assed emotional platitudes.
