    On first listen some tracks may feel a bit samey but give it a bit of time and the brilliantly layeres hidden depths of this excellent album come to light...and I wasn't even a huge fan of the first one! "Do Me a Favour" may possibly be the best song written all year...

    Fast, fun, and very British, Favorite Worst Nightmare delivers if you simply ignore the hype and listen. It's like driving a Mini Cooper... you lose style for buying the hype, but you're too busy having a fun time to give a hoot. Oh yeah, I drive one of those too...

    Great lyrics and a number of really good tunes ranging from the catchy and cleverly titled "Fluorescent Adolescent" to other great tracks like "Old Yellow Bricks" and the thumping "Brianstorm". After a few listens to the whole album, you'll be hooked. Alex Turner does it again!

    If "D is for Dangerous" , as presented on their sophomore hit, then "A" is for Amazing Arctic A-Monkeys! Great album!

    Not as immediate as the first one, it is darker and tighter. Very strong rythm. A very solid album. Favourite track: Do me a favour. I still prefer the first record, though.

    Best Album of 2007 without a doubt. Lyrically and musically superior to their cracking debut. It's one of my most played albums on my ipod!

    It's a great album, the lyrics are the best, they represent society in a way no other band does, not too pessimistic nor optimistic. who needs catchy choruses!! go listen to Britney spears( if she still sings i don´t know) or Justin Timberlake and stuff like that.

    Just as good as their first album. Fantastic job at creating a rave rock album that should be just as ground breaking as the last album. Everyone can enjoy an album like this. Dance dance fools!

    Couldn't imagine a better follow up to their last one. Its a slight evolution of their sound, and showcases how rhythmically tight they've become after touring. 505 and fluorescent adolescent are both killer tracks as good or better than anything on the debut. The rest is at least as good, and given their debut thats no small feat.

    If I could give the album a 10.5-- I would. 'Whatever...' was and is an incredible album that hasn't left my ipod since I got it. I was glad to find that they only got faster-- harder-- heavier-- and yet maintained their unique groove as well as their exceptional production quality. This album is without a doubt-- Aces.

    Really great album, it may not have the same amount of catchy tunes as their debut, but it is a much more complete album, if you follow me. Much bigger, more experimental and great sound.

    the arctic monkeys are hardly rock's new saviours (that title goes to the white stripes, at least ostensibly). they're about as "groundbreaking" as, say, the libertines or maybe franz ferdinand, and the three groups share the same distinctly british sense of humour. um, anyway, if you liked their first record, breath easy: this is everything you could've hope for. for the the arctic monkeys are hardly rock's new saviours (that title goes to the white stripes, at least ostensibly). they're about as "groundbreaking" as, say, the libertines or maybe franz ferdinand, and the three groups share the same distinctly british sense of humour. um, anyway, if you liked their first record, breath easy: this is everything you could've hope for. for the rest of us, it's still pretty good (if overhyped) britpop aping jarvis cocker, blur, and so on. if it "WOWs" you, maybe you should buy some pulp and smiths recordings.… Expand

    How about including some TUNES on your third album, guys? Oasis wrote crap lyrics with great melodies. The Monkeys write great lyrics with crap melodies. Maybe the two bands should merge their strong points. Arctic Oasis anyone?

    I really wanted it to be good, but its not! well over-rated and everyone has jumped on the band wagon oblivious to the album not living up to the hype. In my opinion at least!

    Really nice. They toned down the energy, but the sound is still there. Its better than most sophmore albums, in the fact thats its a great album altogether, but if you had to buy a album which would introduce to Artic Monkeys, it would still be "Whatever". End point: I love it and I wasn't dissapointed.

    I think this is a fantastic CD that really shows off the strength of the Arctic Monkeys. It's faster, stronger, and more upbeat (i.e. Brianstorm, The Bad Thing, etc.) but they retain those wonderfully deep lyrics from their first CD (i.e. Florescent Adolescent, etc.) showing that they can have the best of both worlds. I highly recommend this CD. This shows the true potential of the I think this is a fantastic CD that really shows off the strength of the Arctic Monkeys. It's faster, stronger, and more upbeat (i.e. Brianstorm, The Bad Thing, etc.) but they retain those wonderfully deep lyrics from their first CD (i.e. Florescent Adolescent, etc.) showing that they can have the best of both worlds.     Great album, even superior to their (terrific) debut. "Fluorescent Adolescent" shows that ska infusion can still be fun, and "If You Were There, Beware" has one of the shortest great guitar solos I have ever heard. These guys build atmosphere and tell stories like few of their contemporaries.

    The most creative and progressive type album for a long time, arctic monkeys and muse are the only two bands leading the music world forward into musical change and development. Great album!

    Arctic Monkeys is a great album. Nothing compared to the first album but still a very rock oriented, and a little soft side to it also. The lyrics in this album are slightly better than the first album. Some key songs are Brianstorm, the opening track on the album. It's definitely Arctic Monkeys hardest song. 505 is a softer song that is just amazing. And Fluorescent Adolescent is just anArctic Monkeys is a great album. Made history again with having numerous songs in the top 100 simultaneously, which is just amazing! But hardly surprising given the fact that these guys are the best band around! Fluorescent Adolescent, Balaclava, House Is A Circus, Do Me A Favour and 505 are particularly sounds of an evolving Monkeys, but Old Yellow Bricks for me is an outstanding track. All round an even better album than the first as hard to imagine as that may be the Monkeys stock continues to rise, onwards and upwards for Mr. Turner and co.… Expand

    A very good album from a very good album. "Brainstorm" is a pure classic, and is supported by great tracks such as "Teddy Picker" and "Fluorescent Adolescent". Overall, this album has more than enough of the Arctic Monkeys we got to know and love from they first album to make this a worthwhile buy.

Their sophomore album was put out just over a year after their debut but rather than sounding rushed, is actually quite assured. While it doesn't have any tracks that compare to the high points of their debut, as an album it's solid from start to finish. One of the most admirable things about the record is that it is a different sounding record to it's predecessor and lots of credit is due to the band that were so young when it came out for this. It's a much heavier affair and the band carry off the change with ease. In my humble opinion the band have struggled to reproduce their initial brilliance seen on the first 2 albums.… Expand

    Seldomly seen such a good album! Fantastic lyrics, fantastic voice, fantastic music! Some songs are a bit too less entertaining but that's just a little bit ;) Really good album though! Arctic Monkeys improved their debut album but sadly got worse with their two following albums. However, this is awesome!

    Anxious, very powerful, clever, transparent. FWN plays a continuation of all that great hysteria and talent these guys showed up in their debut album, but with a clearer sense of auto critic, melancholy and precision. Excellent songs, human feelings: a truly fantastic band that plays each time better.

    Another thoroughly underwhelming Arctic Monkeys album; perhaps even a smidgen duller than the first one. I'm afraid I just don't "get" it, despite liking a lot of this "kind" of music (the vocals reminding me of a male Lily Allen probably doesn't help)!

    Definitely not a "favourite" for Yours Truly, but each to their own as always.

    Not quite as good as the first album but still an absolute classic. To begin with this was my favourite Arctic Monkey's album but after I started listening to the first one I started to like that more.

    Many of the tracks at the start and middle of the album are simply stunning but where the debut album didn't let up it feels like FWN does. 'This House Is A Circus' and 'The Bad Thing' are not on the same extremely high level of the other songs. 505 is a fitting conclusion however.

    Where "Whatever People Say I Am..." took place in and around a raving London Club, "Nightmare" is of another location, perhaps the alley behind it. It's darker, moodier, more adventurous, and therefore, that much more enjoyable than it's predecessor.

    Grossly underrated album. 505 is one of the greatest singles produced by Arctic Monkeys. The album has smooth and chilled vibes, it wasn't written for those craving adreniline.

    They explored a lot of new ways to make indie music sound nice and they did it, this album have a lot of hits with easy, but good guitar riffs and i have to admit that i was really surprised with the drums, that is an awesome album and one of their best
