Really good album. They are genuinely developing and moving forward as a band. People say they always make music that sounds the same and then when they produce something different they moan that is not Morning Glory. This album is quality

Back to basic, no frills, no over producing, just good simple Rock N'Roll. What's not to love?

"Playlouder.com" might be the most worthless website of all time! Before they knock a band they should update there website. It looks like it was put together by bunch of retarded chimps on smack. Luke Turner is, no doubt, the most pointless rock scribe on the Internet. I'm sure he's eagerly anticipating the next rockin releases of Rufus Wainwright and Boy George. This is a good "Playlouder.com" might be the most worthless website of all time! This is a good record - Not the best - But for a band that has been at it for this long, it works. It's certainly a better record compared to any 90's dinosaur (Pearl Jam anyone). If you see Luke Turner, punch him in the face. Personally, I hope he gets hit by a truck. Expand

Gone is the affectionate bombastic blasting which marked their last three albums. Could this be the Seargant Pepper they have yearned for ? Collectively this is a Rock classic with "Tooooonful", memorable songs - I can't decide on a favourite cut as it changes daily. The most exciting rock album I've enjoyed for some time then!

This is a different Oasis record. I believe no song will be a superb hit as the ones in DM or WTSMG but 11 nice tunes that are worth listening to. However this could be a turning point for Oasis so critics and fans stop comparing every release with their first studio albums.

Great songs... Lyla is a classic Oasis lead single... Meaning of Soul is a no frills rocker... The Importence of Being Idle goes places you don't expect- great song. A Bell Will Ring and Let There Be Love are also great. Sadly, a lot of these "reviews" don't focus on the album- standing alone. Which makes a lot of these critics look really dumb. Better than Morning Glory, after expecting a decade spent on cruise control Oasis have surprised and produced their second best album. The dad rock and the half ass flag waving anthems are gone from this album and replaced with just solid songs that show depth and variation. Highlights would be The Importance Of Being Idle. Best since What's The Story. A few critics seem to have panned it based on feelings towards the Gallaghers, most of which are a decade in the making. A phenomenal album.

Despite what critics say, Oasis continues to make fantastic music. This is yet another solid effort. Mucky Fingers is the standout track.

For Oasis, the 10 years after the release of What's the Story Morning Glory were made up of 3 average albums that had the occasional good song on them but the blunt songwriting and bloated production definitely outweighed the best moments. I feel "Don't Believe the Truth" was the antithesis of this. I feel "Don't Believe the Truth" was the antithesis of this. In 2005 Oasis returned to 1965 with an acoustic rock sound ala Ray Davies and The Kinks with a nod to "Rubber Soul" as well. As usual for an Oasis record, its full of 60's influences and copy and paste jobs but they do a really excellet job of it on "Don't Believe the Truth". This is also the only Oasis album where Andy Bell and Gem Archer make worthwhile contributions ("Turn Up the Sun" and "A Bell Will Ring" are as all out rock as Oasis have ever gotten) and Liam's contributions are the best work he'd done with the band up to this point. For once, the spirit of democracy paid off within the band. Liam's vocals are also excellent throughout the album. Noel's songs are still the highlight of the record but it is the one and only time that an Oasis album doesn't completely depend on him for high points. It's not quite on the level of their first two records but it's their next best by country miles in my humble opinion. Not a bad track on there. Expand

Great album by the best loved British band! Surely takes Oasis back to business. I hoped a lot from the album and in return I got a lot from as per what I had expected. It's one of the most defining album of the 2000s for sure.

I think Lyla is the worst cut on the album where other songs like "Let there be Love" are complete genius.

  1. Yes, the rumors are true: Oasis has--for the first time in a decade--made an album worth hearing.
  2. Mediocre melodies ride atop formulaic songwriting.
  3. In the end, it's Oasis's attempts to capture former pinnacles, from trying to re-create the simple sunny-side-up pleasures of "Live Forever" to trying for another album-ending mountain like "Champagne Supernova," that keep their latter-day output so entirely forgettable.
