album of the year if people actually listen to it. while the rest of the world enjoys shitty drums and vocals like the stripes just because a 2 piece band is different, they will overlook this almost perfect album

I'm a diehard Oasis fan but even I can accept that their work from 1997-2002 has been less then stellar. Standing on the Shoulders of Giants and Heathen Chemistry were both good albums, but not high caliber. This all changes with Don't Believe the Truth, arguably their best album since Morning Glory. From the massive opening "Turn Up The Sun" to the epic Noel tune "The I'm a diehard Oasis fan but even I can accept that their work from 1997-2002 has been less then stellar. My favourite Oasis album is Don't Believe The Truth and Definitely Maybe. This album is sensitive and powerful. first two album was singin' about the Youth, but this album is about the Grown-Up people's story(that people are all members of Oasis) more wise, more calm but still powerful and strong.

Back to the great songwriting without the over top distortion and that. Great album to listen too.

Better than Morning Glory, after expecting a decade spent on cruise control Oasis have surprised and produced their second best album. The dad rock and the half ass flag waving anthems are gone from this album and replaced with just solid songs that show depth and variation. Highlights would be The Importance Of Being Idle. Let There Be Love, Part Of The Que, Mucky Fingers, Keep The Dream Better than Morning Glory, after expecting a decade spent on cruise control Oasis have surprised and produced their second best album. Best since What's The Story. A few critics seem to have panned it based on feelings towards the Gallaghers, most of which are a decade in the making. A phenomenal album.

How many bands from the '90s are still going and continue to have strong fan support. Oasis have been through the ringer and are still left standing. This album will serve as the foundation for Oasis 2.0. It's only going to get better and evolve further. This album is awesome. It's tight and confident, as well as mature and professional. Great album, songs like The Importance of Being Idle are undeniable classics and work of the aging genius of Noel Gallagher.

Not up to the standards set by Definitely Maybe or Morning Glory, this is still a good Oasis record with a great song from Gem and your standard kick ass ballad from Noel.

  1. Yes, the rumors are true: Oasis has--for the first time in a decade--made an album worth hearing.
  2. Mediocre melodies ride atop formulaic songwriting.
  3. In the end, it's Oasis's attempts to capture former pinnacles, from trying to re-create the simple sunny-side-up pleasures of "Live Forever" to trying for another album-ending mountain like "Champagne Supernova," that keep their latter-day output so entirely forgettable.
