All in all, as a pop album, I think this one is okay. It shows her trying out different pop styles and sub-genres. Some efforts like "Codes" and "Don't Panic" work better than the others. I'm grateful for this album for giving me some fresh and really catchy pop songs to listen to, but I'm just puzzled at the number of tracks. Listening to it from start to finish, I felt like filler songs were inserted in between the good ones and I couldn't help but wonder how much more awesome and hard-hitting this album would have been if there were fewer tracks in it. Any number of these songs could be singles, which is what makes the album so strong. It is filled with pop hit after pop hit, each of them epitomizing the genre. Ellie's lyricaism is so clear, the listener can figure out exactly what she is feeling with each song. However, some of the songs are to similar, and blend into each other, especially the bonus tracks. Also, the album runs on far too long. The delux tracks are not strong enough to be included, and it can feel like a chore to sit down and listen to the whole thing. Nevertheless, Ellie Goulding delivers her best album yet.

Highlights: Keep on Dancin,' Around U, Army, Scream it Out

Not her best album, but still pretty good. On My Mind and Army are good songs, that are catchy. I know I will listen to this album again and again. Nothing will ever come close to Lights or Halcyon though. Those were golden albums and I will remember them forever.

Honestly, I think Ellie is evolving but Delirium has its ups and downs. The songs that are written by Ellie are such perfect dance pop, but the songs that are so commercial are even the worst of her career (Devotion, Don't Panic, We Can't Move To This).

Expand

Well there is not so many things i can say about this album.I'm sure her fans will love it but i think albums like Halycon and Lights are better than Delirium. It is sugary, generic, definitely listenable for Dance Pop fans.
My fave track is "Don't Panic" the rest didn't attract me at all.

In that sense, "Delirium" could be seen as Ellie Goulding's definitive road to success. Don't get me wrong : it's a good pop album, with very smart productions but the entire concept seems crushing Goulding's creativity. On the 16 tracks of the standard edition, only two of them offer really exciting artistry and unique vibes ("Lost & Found" and "Around U"). The rest sounds honest but very under-whelming.
From an artist like Goulding, we were expecting a major level of pop music, especially for her "big breakthrough". But in the end all we get is just a collection of "Love Me Like You Do"-s. Good production but not a thrilling material.

Delirium is a album about dance beats and vocal delivery. The club friendly songs may persuade you to dance but the album is not very impressive.

Ellie Goulding has lent her featherweight voice to… well, everything since her Halcyon came out in 2012; from motion picture soundtracks—The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Divergent, and, recently, Fifty Shades of Grey—to EDM heavyweights such as Calvin Harris, Skrillex, Seven Lions, Major Lazer, and Calvin Harris, again, as well as releasing the world’s most unnecessary deluxe edition,Ellie Goulding has lent her featherweight voice to… well, everything since her Halcyon came out in 2012; from motion picture soundtracks—The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Divergent, and, recently, Fifty Shades of Grey—to EDM heavyweights such as Calvin Harris, Skrillex, Seven Lions, Major Lazer, and Calvin Harris, again, as well as releasing the world’s most unnecessary deluxe edition, Halcyon Days. If you take the celebrity gossip surrounding her, her ex-beaus, and her public appearances alongside Taylor Swift and her grrrl gang, it’s no surprise the 3 years since couldn’t be any more Goulding-free if they were longer.

Her hotly anticipated third studio album, Delirium, has been described by Goulding as an experiment “to make a big pop album”, takes a tour even further into the middle of the road, hence why Max Martin, Greg Kurstin, and Ryan Tedder are producers instead of countless DJs. Besides the sweet, Swedish sounding “Lost and Found”, catchy “Codes”, or, of course, the Celine Dion-esque cheese of “Love Me Like You Do”, however, Delirium largely fails to make a similar impression, say, Taylor Swift’s 1989 or even Carly Rae Jepsen’s Emotion did in recent pop music. When her lightweight vocals aren’t being outmatched by the big-budget soundscapes surrounding her, Martin and co. aren’t capable of matching their own preceding successes—“Something In the Way You Move” either copies Selena Gomez’s “Me & the Rhythm” or Goulding’s own “Love Me Like You Do”, which second single “Army” does as well. The folktronica of her debut record and EDM of Halcyon may not be memorable in their own respect, but Delirium is Goulding’s first to not compliment her strengths to the slightest.

Sad to see Ellie lump herself into the same category as Taylor Swift, but this is what happens when you put money ahead of musical quality. Nothing on here is what I would consider "bad," and honestly "Codes" is quite a fun and catchy song and easily the best song on here, but most of it is just an average pop album with average pop production and average pop lyrics: therefore an average 5 out of 10. It's just sad because Ellie was well-above average prior to Delirium. Expand

This is horrible. Man, what happened to Ellie Goulding?

Now, as everyone remembers, Ellie Goulding was a singer-songwriter with a very specific and emotive voice who rose to fame with Lights and Halcyon. After two incredible albums, I am sorry to say that this is an unexpected disappointment. The album shows that Ellie decided to turn into the mainstream side and the cover of the album shows her body, which is, in my opinion, kinda unpleasing. On My Mind was a great indicator that the album would not leave an impression on me. Out of all the 22 songs (not counting Love Me Like You Do, Outside and Powerful), only 5 of them are memorable; Codes, a track which fuses the elements and instrumentals of Blank Space and Bad Blood, both by Taylor Swift, the second single Something In The Way You Move which is reminiscent of Beating Heart due to Ellie stopping the stanza at a point to say the final word, then Holding On For Life, Army and Scream It Out. Lights was a normal indie pop album, Halcyon was a darker sequel with more darker elements, emotions, a more aggressive showcase of her voice and, well, more songs. This album, however, is a very huge mess which lacks anything the previous two albums had. Almost every single song on the album is either emotionless, nothing special, just a straightforward pop song or chaotic. The way she sings the songs is tiring and some of her notes just cannot match with the instrumentals perfectly. Without those 5 songs, this album would've been even a 0, so this is the only reason I gave it a 2/10. I am giving Ellie one more chance to redeem herself, but if she does not, I will forget I ever was a fan of hers. Go back and listen to Lights and Halcyon, but don't listen to Delirium. Ellie has changed her sound, but in my opinion, not for the better.
