este é o trabalho mais coeso e conceitual da Demi. Um álbum catartico, que ela pega a dor dela e transforma em músicas para dançar e se divertir

This is her diary into metamorphosis. There are lofty tracks to remind the people the fact of popstars are human; they have issues like us, and they're trying to survive in this "Mad World" (yeah, look what I did there) by playing something to make themselves real for a second stopping the glamorous life, being confessional in Prelude, the first part of the LP (3 tracks), as well with certain tracks of the Part Two, The Art of Starting Over (like "Melon Cake", "Easy", "The Way You Don't Look At Me"). The pop, R&B and trap-influenced tracks worked well on Demi's repertoire for long time, however ballads seems to fit better with the mature girl we're listening now. Would y'all stop the hate for a minute so she can breathe? Those drug jokes used to be painful, and now they are... dull. Demi's growing, and you?

favorite tracks: "ICU", "The Kind Of Lover I Am", "Mad World", "Met Him Last Night" and "15 Minutes"
KEY-TRACK: "The Art Of Starting Over"

We waited almost 4 years for this album, but it was worth it because it's a MASTERPIECE. The sounds, the production, the lyrics, the vocals, everything. This is the most honest and raw album I have ever heard. She's the best herself now, she truly lives her best life and she finally makes that kind of music what she wants and loves. This album deserves a Grammy.

Form the first song to the last, we are seeing Demi’s OD and journey to healing through no one else’s eyes but her own. She took 2 years off and came back stronger than ever. She took 2 years off and came back stronger than ever. And it shows: vocally, lyrically and artistically. Demi has never released a mediocre album in her career but this is sure to be the best she’s done so far. This album is the best emotion conjuring and tear jerking album released in a while. The slow songs were still captivating, evoking emotions and empathy you weren’t aware u had. Each song took u on a different journey, using every asset of her disposal to convey her journey: lyrics, melody, production, range, tone and dynamics. Despite being a relatively raw artist, this album took rawness too the next level, sending the listener on an rollercoaster of pain, regret and repentance.

Through her anguish, Demi carves a new kind of pop she describes as “ethereal dream pop”, showing off a sweeter, more delicate range versus the heavy belts from her previous bodies of work. It’s obvious her vocals have gone next level while remaining relatively tame for her style of singing. Nonetheless, she wasn’t afraid to still show she had the range with money notes in both the title track and her collab with peer and friend, Ariana Grande, lending her vocals and writing chops to “I Met Him Last Night”, the albums next hit single.

All in all we got to see the worst and most raw side of Demi while also witnessing her growth, both humanly, as an artist and as vocalist.

Each melody seems to loosen the lump in her throat, but naturally Lovato does not forget his commitment to charging for another phonographic hit. Unpretentious and ambitious when flirting with your demons in public. Expand

Lovato's frankness is disarming, forcing a listener to reckon with the depths of the singer's distinction, yet the album works best when it veers toward lighter territory, letting the slick R&B rhythms and sugared hooks carry Lovato's emoting.

Dancing With the Devil… The Art of Starting Over is Demi Lovato like we have never heard before. She is sassy and carefree while serious about her identity and personhood in a way she has been itching to be for years.

The opening three tracks are almost an EP in their own right, before a quick reset. Semi title track ‘The Art Of Starting Over’ begins anew, a straight forward bop that gets to the root of Demi’s recovery – her natural talent, her ear for pop magic, affording room for personal renewal.
