This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Chromatica is an incredibly strong album. Don't let the thumping beats fool you, this album is very personal and explores some of LG's darkest moments. Chromatica truly is about dancing through the pain. The tracks tend to be on the short side, but that's good for us as there are more to enjoy! Highlights include the hauntingly hypnotic Alice, the catchy but devastating 911, and Enigma with its rhythmic chorus. There are also three orchestral interludes in the album, composed by LG herself. Each interlude sets the atmosphere for the next track and allows the listener time to take a quick break in between dancing. There are some classic Gaga tracks on the album; the vulnerable Plastic Doll could fit perfectly into The Fame, whilst Stupid Love sounds like something straight from Born This Way. The album concludes with the empoweringly camp Babylon, ending in a triumphant acapella.

Thank you Lady Gaga, that's the soundtrack to my summer sorted!

Again back at it and again recycling past music. The track "Babylon" is nothing but a copy of Madonna's single "Vogue" and "sour candy" is basically Katy perry's "Swish swish" She is running on fumes at this point.

Her constantly double playing with one day being "Lady" and aother one being "Gaga" is not confusing but amusing. It is one way out of thousands she has to prove how versatile she is and how amazing and powerful her mind is. Since she stepped into the music industry with "The Fame" in 2008, she has constantly been winning. Its reissue, The Fame Monster, was so damn huge even though it was only an EP! Gaga's posterior reivindications of veganism and, obviously, equality and LGBT+ rights transformed her in the voice of a generation who were not afraid to show their real personality because they knew they had someone to rely to. Gaga is the monster who will fight for what she stands for no matter what. After having a bit of a flop with "Artpop", which I considered her best record until yesterday, she transitioned into "Lady", a glamorous Italian-American girl that, even though could only say "grazie" and "ciao", had that elegancy that constantly personifies and evangelizes Southern Europe. "Cheek to Cheek" featuring jazz legend Tonny Bennet was the reivindication of who she also was and a great escape of the spotlight and flashlights. In 2016 "Lady" served us her fifth studio album where she adopted her tragic family history and turned it into a Madison Square Garden musical hoping it would help her dad's depression not to re-happen. Super Bowl LI happened and the world surprisingly needed Lady Gaga; yeah Lady Gaga, the perfect mix of Lady and Gaga's virtues and merits. Thus, after writing a whole soundtrack for one of the saddest and most amusing films I have ever seen, Lady Gaga is back on the music scene and better than ever. She looks very pretty, excited, virtuous and victorious. Honestly, after a three-year hip-hop apocalypse it is very pleasing to experience the revival of pop and bubblegum pop music and its reign in the charts and in the industry in general ones again.
There are many facts that make "Chromatica" her best album so far. First of all are the interludes. These are so damn needy in a record that pretends to show you a whole new world, that wants you to take a trip to the singer's mind that it is amazing to have so many here. The concept of it as well as the visuals on this record are absolutely breathtaking and very impressive. Then we have its length. They say length is not important but in this case it is since being under 45 minutes, the album has the perfect duration. It is not as heavy as other recent releases like "Notes On a Conditional Form" by the 1975, which is over 70 minutes long or as short as C. Tangana's latest release. It is long enough to introduce and develop you into the whole "Chromatica" experience. At last we have the collaborations: the featurings with Ariana Grande, BLACKPINK and Elton John are very specific and have been chosen with a lot of love, affection and admiration. To be honest, the collaboration with Mister John is my favorite. I do not specially admire him but seeing a 73-year old English man taking part in a dance-pop song with none other than Lady Gaga is so freaking amazing that I do not have words to describe it. After all of this we must talk about the importance of the tour. Even though is hasn't happened yet and may not happen until 2021, "The Chromatica Ball" is so unique and limited that will for sure be her best tour to happen to date. The last thing to have in consideration is the paper of social media and fans in this project. The "United States of Chromatica" Twitter page is so wild that perfectly reflects the fans' excitement and admiration to Gaga and her work so much that it feels overwhelming. Thus, filled with anticipation, excitement, master visuals and amazing music, this is THE ERA.
I know this page is full of indie edgy fans and metallers who do not understand the relevancy of Lady Gaga in modern contemporany music but just stop being so negative and blind and start to analyze the meaning of it all. Honestly, I do not know how to give this album. If "Chromatica" was released by another A-list artist it wouldn't have the same sense since it is the voice and charisma and background of Gaga what really give it a meaning. Fu*k it Gaga thank you for mixing the best of Lady and the best of Gaga and turning it into the dance-pop record that the world needed and that reflects your personality in the most perfect way. Everybody say thank you Lady Gaga!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I never had insanely high hopes going into this record. But I had enjoyed the lead 3 singles, despite the clear change of sound Gaga was going for. The biggest highlight is Gaga’s vocals which continue to be her biggest strength. She’s a phenomenal singer that even with the overbearing EDM dance beats... her voice still hits all the ethereal beats she always has.

Unfortunately this album didn’t quite capture the same magic as her last record “Joanne” which took her sound in a new direction.
This one just bordered TOO HEAVILY on average dance pop.

There ARE some songs that do stick the landing. Most of which in the former half of the album. Such as “Alice”, “Stupid Love”, and despite my disliking of Ariana Grande... “Rain On Me” is also a pretty powerful track.

It’s sadly just those few tracks in the first half that fuel the album. The rest of it is either way too on the nose with symbolism, or fail to match the danceable power of the lead singles. Featuring 3 random orchestral interludes and a collaboration with Elton John that is honestly painful to listen to. Nothing about “Sine From Above” meshes well.

Gaga is insanely talented. One of the greatest voices in modern pop music. But unfortunately this album was more like her worst album “ARTPOP (2013)” rather than “The Fame (2008)”.

This album is a big disappointment, but it’s far from being the worst pop album put out during this pandemic, OR in recent years.

    This is a strong C+. Maybe a B– if I’m being generous.

The heavy production otherwise is really... noisy and flat at some point. I caught myself listening to the album and "missing" some songs because they blend with each other. I also have a feeling that Gaga wanted to recreate Confessions on the dancefloor experience with this album and somehow she made it, but (as I said) in a flat way.

The pros of the album are that it feels very cinematic, the interlude makes it like we're walking through a film so as a whole it does keep you gripped in. There are some stellar songs on here such as Rain On Me, 911 and Babylon and the record I feel is another part to Artpop with its experimental sound.

However, the drawback is mainly with the production and that I think it is really overproduced and is very overpowering. It may be a dance record and it is successful in making you want to dance but still I want to hear Gaga’s voice without being distracted with what’s going on in the background.

Amazing, that's it, the lyrics, beats, retro vibes and the transition between chromatica II and 911 in particular are just AMAZING

Thumping basslines, shimmering and lush synths, beautiful and focused melodies with flourishes of quintessential Gaga scattered throughout. 90's house, disco, early 2000's eurodance and electronica influences help shape an energetic and relentless 45 minute dance party. Fantastic summer party album. Lady Gaga is back in force.

An adrenaline fueled dance pop record, a return to Gaga’s EDM roots which she popularized almost a decade ago. Orchestral interludes transitioning to club bangers is something I never thought would be possible but Gaga proves she is a musical genius yet again. The lyrics are personal and emotional. 10/10 for the album.

The transition from Chromatica II to 911 cured my depression, cleared my skin and snatched my wig to another universe. It might not be the perfect album, but it was recorded and made with heart and passion. And as Gaga herself once said, "if you don't have any shadows, you're not standing in the light". Expand

A triumph of a dance/pop record. The vocals, the productions and lyrics are all sublime. This is an artist at her prime with something to say and a point of view, not many have that.

No one could have published an art pop/EDM album, a jazz one, a soft rock/country pop one and a nü-disco/electropop/house record in just seven years, yet she did. And she has been incredible in everyone of them. Her creative soul is so different from the other artist that took inspiration from the 80s and the 90s, such as Dua Lipa or The Weeknd. In a music world dominated by trap music, hip hop vibes, Latin influences, Gaga is one of the few artists to follow a completely different path. “Sine from Above” is maybe her best song and maybe the best song released this year. The album does have its missteps, there are a lot of songs written with the same structure, especially when the songs have a drop after the hook. You can tell that she wanted to be creative as she could, but not all of the songs are original, or different. Overall I would say that this is a pretty good album to listen to, if you want to start listening to her discography. Expand

Chromatica brings us the essence of Lady Gaga again, in the same way this album explores new sounds in Gaga's music, also, despite being a dance / pop album it still shows us the great vocal level of Lady Gaga, without a doubt this is one of his best albums

The nostalgia in the production — a blend of crisp digital synth textures and ringing grooves drawn directly from '90s house music — further bolsters the shadowed euphoria of a song like "Sour Candy," in which Gaga is joined by the K-pop girl group Blackpink; "Sine from Above," featuring Elton John, gets a similar friction from the interplay between their voices.

Infectious, exciting and even a little hedonistic during some of the most confusing of modern times, now’s never been a better time to get lost in this new destination.

Chromatica’s frank grappling with the vagaries of Gaga’s brain – and the way fame exacerbates them – ends up feeling much more real than touring dive bars with a guitar and a Stetson ever did.
