    "I enjoyed hearing this album"
Although Camila doesn't have a special voice, if she has a very good vocal modulation technique, she shows it here. I must admit that each song is good in its own way, each has its essence, none is repetitive. It has some deep lyrics an it's a very good debut album. I just don't like the choice of that song as second single, there are better songs, and not

Not only does she amazing ballads, she has bops for days with She Loves Control, Havana, Inside Out and Into It. She Loves Control is such a sexy, empowering song that you can't help but blast through the speakers; awesome production. Havana; Obvious world wide hit. When delivering your first album, you must have at least one or two guaranteed hits. While 'CAMILA' fails to match another 'Havana' it is the most interesting emotional roller coaster a debutant like Miss Cabello can give. 'Never be the same', 'Consequences', 'Into it' the best cuts off the album.

Every now and then the album stops to just be energetic and have fun like the song "Havana", but then there are also songs like "Consequences" and "I Have Questions" that are more emotional and tell an actual story and have a more sad and slower tune in the background. It was interesting to hear all these different emotions in such a brief album and even when the lyrics definitely weren't amazing, her excellent voice kept the songs going. Though it's not a perfect album. Some melodies get a bit samey and there's the song "Inside Out" that aside from the warm tropical vibe in the background, has a stupid piano melody that gave me Dora the Explorer flashbacks. Luckily that's the only truly annoying song and the album picks up again after it. Overall there's a ton to like here and for a debut album this is a great success! Camila really is trying to put herself into this, and I think it bodes well for what we're going to get in the future. I see mixed reviews of some people wanting less ballads, but at the same time they want her to be different. Her having more ballads is where she IS different, this is where she is really telling us something, on those songs. And I think if people really listen to theCamila really is trying to put herself into this, and I think it bodes well for what we're going to get in the future. I see mixed reviews of some people wanting less ballads, but at the same time they want her to be different. Her having more ballads is where she IS different, this is where she is really telling us something, on those songs. And I think if people really listen to the lyrics, instead of just a cursory listen, you'll find that Camila could have very bright future indeed, she is turning into a good writer.

My biggest complaint is that at times I feel like there is too much auto-tuning. Camila's voice does not need this, at all, she is capable of producing that sound without help. I also would rather we'd gotten something other than a radio edit of Never Be The Same, perhaps the no rap version of Havana? I do understand the change in direction and some songs not being ready, as to why we don't have the song she did with Ed or Charlie XCX writing with her, and I look forward to what we get in the future.

The zero ratings are coming from mainly two places: people not voting right given what they wrote (positive notes, but bad score), and pressed fans from her former girl group. To give a zero to the album, as if it has absolutely nothing on it worth anyone's time, is petty and disingenuous, and just not true (most of them were bopping to Havana even if they don't want to admit it.)

Admittedly, this isn't for everyone, I wasn't even OPEN to pop music in general until I started listening to 5H and found something about them that spoke to me, in large part because of Camila's voice being so unique, and because they seemed to project this very positive girl empowerment theme. But I listen closer to what Camila is saying, not just the overall sound, and I'm finding music I can identify with, music I wish I'd had years ago.

From pop rock influenced Never Be The Same to cry-your-heart-out ballad Consequences, "Camila" proves that she has so much more than one would expect from an ex member of a girl group. Although this album has some questionable production choices, it's a lyrical paradise and shows what Cabello is capable of creating in the future.

First let me start by saying that 'Camila' is a record much different than I expected from a girl group runaway, especially when considering the group in question is Fifth Harmony and she was effectively the lead vocalist/figure and not some fringe member. It's worth mentioning that I've got nothing against Camila or her former Fifth Harmony band sisters, but the brand of pop found in their albums is just not my style and beyond a quick listen here or there, there's never been much that resonated with me as particularly interesting or appealing. It's for these reasons that the lead single off this album, "Havana" and the content of the album itself really took me by surprise. Camila Cabello has earned the right to have "Former Fifth Harmony siren" dropped before her name, she is an artist in her own right and here's why.

Before I dive in I want to get some things out of the way, the production here is lean and understated outside of the two singles "Havana" and "Never Be The Same", and this works beautifully for some of the gorgeous ballads [yeah, there are balladS, plural, on a debut album from a popstar in 2018, nuts right?] but causes some of the closing tracks to fall a little flat. Additionally, the speed of the album is pretty even-keeled and I won't lie, while it's a short listen, tracks 6,7,8 can feel long; prepare to either fall into your feelings if like me you live for earnest writing and emotive vocal performances or slip into a soft slumber if you expected high-octane, radio-ready pop bangers--though I do advise you against this, you will miss out on some of the most poignant deep cuts from a young popstar in years.

That said, there's so much about this album that works--the Latin seasoning peppered through She Loves Control to Havana and sprinkled lightly on Inside Out, the charismatic and playful bounce of Camila's vocal delivery, ad libs and delicious cooing and of course, the spectacular writing for which Camila is credited on every single track along with a host of unusual co-writers [Amy Wadge?] outside of some flashy names [Justin Tranter, Ryan Tedder]. This isn't a perfect record by any means I could sit here and list a number of offenses from a technical standpoint [seriously, Camila powers this whole album virtually alone at times, what is with some of the production?] but I won't do that, what I will do is invite you to check out this heartwarming, tender and passionate debut and pay a close ear to the candidness she shares on virtually every song [even the lively Havana has the smoky line "Half of my heart is in Havana" which is an ode to her hometown, couple that with the fact Cuban-American relations aren't the best and she's not readily able to return and it's actually quite a poignant song]. In short, it sounds like Joni Mitchell and acoustic Shakira teamed up to put out an album.

Camila proved to be powerful on her debut rock-to-rock pop album that is not a simple girl from an ex girl band. In controversial, it has questionable production choices and especially in the sample pegatives and root pop, but can show what it is able to create in the future something sensational.

"Camila", with all its changes, delays, and ups-and-downs, was such a promising record, and it did deliver a lot of what was promised, just not quite everything. There's no denying the talent of the ex-Fifth-Harmony-member, whose vocals, a bit meddled with auto-tune (which, don't get me wrong, is a highlight), shine all through her debut record, but it's the filler-nature of a couple of"Camila", with all its changes, delays, and ups-and-downs, was such a promising record, and it did deliver a lot of what was promised, just not quite everything. There's no denying the talent of the ex-Fifth-Harmony-member, whose vocals, a bit meddled with auto-tune (which, don't get me wrong, is a highlight), shine all through her debut record, but it's the filler-nature of a couple of songs that is the main, but minor problem with this record. When she was pushing back the release, Ms Cabello promised her fans it was because she "wanted every song to sound like a single", and that she did: there's no song on there that I couldn't imagine being played on the radio. The highlights are pretty clear here: 'Havana' is a huge bop, hence all the success it's getting, and 'Never Be The Same' is a very well-done pop track and a very enjoyable sing-along, 'All These Years' and 'Real Friends' are good laid-back tracks (that both sound a lot like Justin Bieber's 'Love Yourself', by the way), and 'Consequences' and 'Something's Gotta Give' are tender heartbreaking ballads (enlisting the help of Ed-Sheeran-peer co-writer Amy Wadge for the former). The instrumentation and the production all throughout the album are just excellent, leaning on a lot of latin-infused and raggaeton melodies, which work for Camila so not-surprisingly well. However, some other songs just feel... empty; it's not the production, nor the lyrics, nor the vocals, but they just sound like fillers (you might want to skip 'Inside Out' and 'In the Dark' altogether). Another flaw is closing the album with 'Into It', which is a very catchy Selena-Gomez-imprinted track, but that just doesn't fit as a closer to the record at all. In retrospect, maybe she shouldn't have scrapped 'I Have Questions' and 'OMG' (which were two truly powerful tracks).
That said, let's not forget that this is Camila's first record (which turned out to be pretty solid), and she's allowed to make a couple of mistakes here and there. However, the LP still feels so personal and genuine, and that is what matters the most.

"Camila" is short, sweet and light, but the best part about this album is that Cabello doesn't forget where she comes from. With the Latin influences sprinkled throughout every track, her pride in her culture is what sets her apart from other pop stars on the rise right now.

'CAMILA' is a great debut album. Camila has a good voice, although the pitch correction is over the top in a few places. The instrumentation is awesome in 'She loves control', 'inside out' and 'Somethings gotta give'. Although in other parts the instrumentation has a rushed and flimsy sound to it.

Overall I really enjoyed this album. It is a debut album, with an artist who is still trying to find who they are but its surprisingly cohesive for a debut. The best thing it does is give me hopes for the future.

The album has a great sound, but I found it over produced and there is a bunch of Autotune you barely hear Camila's voice which I consider it's not the best but it's okey, the general people will love it, but not all will love it, the girl tries to hard to be someone like Ariana Grande, the only good songs are Never Be The Same, Havana, Real Friends, In The Dark and Consequences.

It is impressive Camila Cabello’s performance in her debut. This Caribbean rhythm involves so many emotions and different feelings that I made me feel breathless. However, there are two weak points in this record, for example, Havana is an annoying track without purpose inside of this world, the classic pop music with a rapper wasting time and ruining the whole performance just being in a verse. And Real Friends that tired me before the end. The basic beach sound in the background did not with the excellent performance from Camila.

In the end, 2018 started with a good record. Thank you Camila to have postponed this album.

I liked her style, it's not a masterpiece, but its good for a debut album. Some songs are really passionate made me have goosebumps, and i felt what i thought she was feeling while singing them, but at another part some songs are forgettable, and some songs lack good production behind it.

The ballads are a particular standout for me. Camila is one of the few pop stars that comes off as a legitimately sympathetic person, and her vocal performances are sincere and polished without being too perfect--great example is on Consequences ("steady place to let down my my defenseeeees"... "and I lost so much more than my senses"). I love her vocal performance on this song. The way she transitions from falsetto to her more natural alto is thrilling... she isn't afraid to let the natural grit and coarseness of her voice shine. This is in contrast to the unending breathiness of so many of her pop vocalist contemporaries. It's a nice, if subtle contrast to the current vocal zeitgeist.

The songwriting is pretty consistently good for the genre. Havana is of course a smash, and Young Jeffery does a great job incorporating some interesting flows and his unique timbre is a good pairing with Camila's voice. The ballads are fantastic. Overall the songwriting is pretty traditional, but nonetheless very effective. There is a good, consistent tension between buildup and release, and the chord progressions feel inspired even though they are nothing new. The hooks are sticky as hell. The instrumentation is rather par for the course, but nevertheless effective.

Super excited to see where CC takes her art next. I think paired with the right songwriters, she has wonderful potential.

Camila had her big challenge of facing her solo career and in that first huge album. The choice of single was partially commercial and are the worst of the album in exceptions! The first great release of pop music in 2018 is already between us. Coming from a troubled breakup of their former group "Fifth Harmony", many asked what Camila Cabello would be preparing for her solo debut and the response was not disappointing.
After a series of promotional singles and a makeover, Cabello finally managed to deliver her debut album, formerly known as "The Hurting, the Healing, the Loving". The self-titled "Camila" already holds the historic record for debut album with more # 1 on iTunes around the world and owner of the hit "Havana" which is already in the five weeks in second place on American Billboard. The album, released under the Epic label, has its own compositions and one of its main collaborators, Frank Dukes, is one of the big names in the American Hip Hop industry.
Marked by the sensitivity and the cohesive form in which the work presents itself, the album follows between ballads and songs with great potential of hit. The first track "Never Be The Same", delivered during the pre-sale of the album, is the exact synthesis of what Camila can offer. "All These Years" is light, despite being one of the most personal of the album, does not present an exceptional performance beyond the sweet vocals of Hair. The sequel follows with "She Loves Control", "Havana" and "Inside Out", the most radiophonic part of the album and tempered with Latin rhythms, basically a junction of everything that is currently successful. The album slows down with "Consequences" where a piano solo is enough for Camila and her vocals again are in absolute focus. "Real Friends" repeats the same formula used in "All These Years" and could easily be sung by Selena Gomez. "Something's Gotta Give," another great ballad, must be remembered for the way Camila exposes her fragile side without sounding weak. And finally, "In The Dark" and "Into It" conclude the album in a charismatic and confident way.
The album has a great commercial appeal and perhaps its biggest defect is the lack of boldness and creativity taking into account the fact that Camila follows the whole time by the easy way and by models already ready, but that does not mean that the work is bad and does not deserve to be heard, for a debut, Camila delivered something satisfactory and certainly deserves praise for it.

Now that I've slept on it and have gotten off that high, I think I can honestly say that this album is...good.

I can't say it's great. I can't even say it's ambitious. And I'm pretty sure I'm going to forget all these songs by February.

But I also can't say I didn't enjoy listening to this album. Some of them are bops; the remaining are piano or guitar ballads that I think have some good lyrics. There's no song that I actively hate - but there's no song I actively love, either.

I've been a little unfair to poor Camilla in the past. I don't like her voice, but that shouldn't be a problem if she had the tunes to back it up. Her voice is unique, and a lot of iconic singers became iconic because of their unique voices. Cyndi Lauper, for example. And some of these songs really compliment her voice. But then there are tracks like Never Be the Same that just...her voice is really grating at times.

My biggest problem with this album is how every song reminds me of another song from a different Top 100 artist. Inside Out basically reuses lyrics from The Chainsmokers, Into It sounds a lot like Sober by Lorde, and Never Be the Same will blend in perfectly with every other song on the radio. That doesn't bother me enough to hate it, but it does contribute to the whole 'forgettable' thing.

So while I wouldn't recommend this album simply because I don't find it interesting enough to recommend to anyone, I wouldn't say no if someone asked me if they should listen to it. I'd probably say maybe.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Porém, obviamente, possui seus prós: Into it.

-Consequences: Balada simple e intrascendente. Parece un descarte de Lana del rey.
-Real friends: me gustaría decir que eleva un poco el disco, pero ahí anda. Después de All these years pues como que el tema se queda corto.

“Never Be the Same” proves that Cabello doesn’t need a mammoth voice. The love-is-a-drug lyric she’s singing is dumb, but she sells it so joyfully that you don’t even notice, and its wonderfully breathy, high-register hook ensures “Havana” won’t be her last solo hit.
