    A great body of work. The highlights to me, other than the singles, were: Diet Mountain Dew, Dark Paradise, Radio and Carmen. She has a way to connect with her audience.

    Perfect songs and fillers are among these tracks. Just as the album title, it made me feel born again at first. But when I listened to it till the last, I was dead and I would like to.

    Almost perfect album. The highs are some of the most haunting yet captivating pop tracks of the decade. Memorable and for someone growing up with Born to Die - surely capable of making memories, something the album longs for via nostalgia.

    It's just so sad how critics can be so mean, after her performance in SNL, this is one of the wronged scores of all times! This album simply defined the decade and influenced most of the young artists we have today.

    Her best album in my opinion. Her voice paired with her lyrics and the violins and hip-hop beats are so different than what we hear today. It is a perfect album. Every single song is perfectly written. Each song is poetry. She really knows how to convey emotion in her singing. This was a perfect album.

So naturally I took some time before listening to her past albums. Born to die has many little pockets of hidden vocal genius-ness. When I looked up the album online most of the appreciation was towards title track and video games. But what got my attention was off to the races and Lolita. She uses two different voices there - a bold, deep voice when she sings to the listener and a high pitched squeaky voice when she sings to her old man. The interesting fact is that research shows older men (let's say 35-45) like the squeaky voice more in a woman because that indicates the youthfulness of a female. As in they prefer young girls. It's so intelligent if Lana to modulate her voice to signify the difference. Lolita, the song itself is inspired from the book Lolita in which an older man is in love with a 14 year old girl. This hidden gem -her voice modulation- sadly is so easily overlooked. This is an added bonus to the lyrical masterpieces she's produced. The production of the songs did not remove her vulnerability and emotions.… Expand

    This album has some songs that I skip, like Million Dollar Man, but the highs are so high and what it's offering can't be found anywhere else. That makes it a 10 for me. It's a really enjoyable sound and vibe with some great vocals and lyrics

    Born to Die, perhaps lost to the times of now, will be a breakthrough album because it created the foundations for Lana Del Rey. Without this initial reflection on her life, Lana would never have been able to go on to create her most influential songs, notably Ultraviolence, Ride, Cinnamon Girl and much more.

    Can you imagine the world without Lana del Rey's "Born to Die"? She literaly created a aesthetic and a trend in the alternative scene while the whole music industry was worn out from the same songs of different artists. This was the beggining of every indie, alternative trend and she still impacts a lot of artists with her lyrics, melody and aesthetic.

    A cohesive album that flows perfectly from track to tack and creates a very mysterious and dark atmosphere for the listener. The melodies are great and creative, songwriting is good overall, the production is great on most songs but on some songs it feels like they were unfinished or downgraded with not so good production.

    With her debut, Lana Del Rey brought a breath of fresh air with a killer aesthetic. Born to Die shares a common feeling of melancholy, toxic love, and youthful dreams that we all live at some point. Of course, Lana’s vocal performance got far better in her following projects, but it doesn’t remove the quality of this record.

    The philosophy behind this album is so beautiful. It's one of the best debut albums of the century.

    I love this album. It's a huge one for Lana as she solidified her status and skyrocketed to fame. It's wonderful, practically poetry. The beautiful melancholy marketed the album to many and made her a household name. The album is dreamy, yet heavy. I love this album it certainly deserves better reviews.
