This album is a masterpiece, comparing it to NFR is impossible as it is in its own league. Lana has truly and honestly grown as an artist from BTD to date, she is one of this generations greatest vocalists and songwriters.

Such a stunning album and piece of work. I always love hearing Lana’s poetry in the form of songs. I prefer this album over COTCC and it is on par with NFR! It has a wonderful sultry quality to it. (e.g. Textbook, If You Lie Down With Me, Dealer), but it also is somewhat more experimental for Lana. (e.g. Textbook, If You Lie Down With Me, Dealer), but it also is somewhat more experimental for Lana. You hear more interesting and unusual sounds, such as the pretty little staccato piano riffs at the beginning of Beautiful; the crow sounds at the beginning of Black Bathing Suit; the mock-saxophone she creates with her voice on Living Legend; and most stunningly, the way she lets her voice go crazy high and almost wails out emotively on Dealer. Highly recommend. The album is exquisite. Nothing else would be expected of our Queen Lana though :) Expand

Her voice is shining and this album shows how Lana Del Rey improved and aged like fine wine artistically. One of a kind album, one of a kind singer. I loved how experimental this album was and despite being different than any of her previous work, her fans loved it. One of the best albums released this year. Looking forward to her next projects with pure excitement.

This album did to me what many simply cannot do. I laid in my bed and found myself in a trance, or what could have also been allure. I don't exactly know what it was. I found it very hard to listen to, not necessarily because of any negative reason, I simply don't know, but it is so complex and the embodiment of a wild and emotive ride, truly. Packed with possibly what is Lana's best songThis album did to me what many simply cannot do. I laid in my bed and found myself in a trance, or what could have also been allure. I don't exactly know what it was. I found it very hard to listen to, not necessarily because of any negative reason, I simply don't know, but it is so complex and the embodiment of a wild and emotive ride, truly. Packed with possibly what is Lana's best song writing skills yet, while simultaneously being very reminiscent of the sound of 'Ultraviolence' it feels rewarding and satisfying to observe 'Blue Banisters' become part of what is now an established holy trinity: Her sisters 'NFR', 'Chemtrails over the country club' and now, alongside them, being held by her hand and with her two dogs behind her, here comes 'Blue Banisters'. The two previous albums showcased Lana's maturity and established her as a VERY talented poet, that title cannot be denied, and Blue Banisters as the most recent of Lana's artistic projects is no exception to this title. With the exception of the singles, 'Black Bathing Suit', 'Beautiful' and 'Sweet Carolina' are the highlights of the album in my opinion. It honestly felt just like a novel, full of symbolism and beautiful imagery. 10/10 for me. Expand

Can we be surprised at this point? Banisters reaffirms the obvious, which is that Del Rey is the best of the best and HAS BEEN for a very long time.

2 Lana Del Rey albums in 7 months! We are blessed! "Blue Banisters" is a continuation from where "Chemtrails..." left us - but there are significant differences between both records. For starters, "Blue Banisters" is more experimental when it comes to vocal performance. To hear Lana yell in "Dealer" felt so raw; even if she was only singing a minor part of that song. For starters, "Blue Banisters" is more experimental when it comes to vocal performance. To hear Lana yell in "Dealer" felt so raw; even if she was only singing a minor part of that song. Secondly, this record is less folk-based than the previous one; although, we still get glimpses of Joni Mitchell's musical influence in tracks like "Sweet Carolina". "Blue Banisters" also sees Lana open up about her relationship with both of her parents. There's something so honest in the way she discloses details about the issues stemming from this relationship.

What I really love about "Blue Banisters" is the whole aesthetic of this record. There's still that cinematic feel which we often get with Lana's music, but there's also something so organic and homegrown that takes me back to her Lizzy Grant days.

While the days of Born to Die have long since passed, Lana Del Rey is still seeking paradise, closer now than ever as she turns her search inward, seemingly recognizing that paradise is ultimately found within the best of oneself. Still, if there is indeed a physical Arcadia to be revealed, it has not emerged in its entirety on Blue Banisters. That said, its intoxicating hints are enough to keep seekers thirsty.
