Is here wrongly, full of promises he could not keep, "ARTPOP" sounds like an attempt not very successful innovation, which ended up being more confusing beats and lyrics without much sense. The Pop Art vein was completely left aside here, and ended up making him a pop music album undefined.

If we look at what Pop Music is nowadays, I have to say BRAVO Lady Gaga, BRAVO!). It tries to be different and you will not find any "basic" lyrics here (Like *I go up and then go down* or *I swim swim in the water like a fish*), unfortunately in some songs this becomes confusing, pointless and/or nonsense. What this album lacks is a little bit more of "Gaga" some songs are too experimental-in-the-mainstream. Naming this album "ARTPOP" was her opportunity to do something more shocking, less pop and more art, more Björk less Skrillex and more "Gypsy" less "Fashion!". It doesn't have the greatness and passion of "Fame Monster" or the fresh sound from "The Fame" nor the strength of "Born This Way" but it's not a "disaster". Expand

That album could be Gaga's worst work, ever. It isn't inspirational, tunes are like so random. Lyrics are simply empty. If it was her debut, she would be a one-hit wonder but nothing else.

There's something that is truly fascinating with Lady GaGa: her flawed honesty. It really feels like GaGa wanted to stick so much to her theme, that she actually forgot about the music... In that sense, it feels forced, and not honest. Sticking to the ambivalence reigning between art and pop didn't do her any service: it actually made her album feel unsure, and definitely not finished... It really feels to me, like every song is not really certain of its direction. The production is interesting, that's for sure, I commend DJ White Shadow, Zedd and Madeon for the beats, but I really can't help but wonder why anybody let Venus get on the ''final'' product. Yes, Gaga produced it, but she didn't finish it. I feel there's something missing there. I can't stop thinking about the amazing vocals on Gypsy though. Really feels like the most honest song on the album, and the most beautiful one. I do not know who GaGa was trying to convince, especially by trying to make us believe that this album was done 1 year ago, when it definitely wasn't... Feels like a lot of songs were written at the last minute, or finished at the last minute. Expand

Lady Gaga released 'Artpop' in the same year Katy Perry released her own new material, while Miley Cyrus spearheaded her own attack on the charts.

The one thing connecting them all? None of them released their full potential.

Gaga manages to emerge as the most confident artist, with 15 very contrasting tracks, but it's a hit-and-miss affair. What cannot be denied, however, is her voice. Throughout tracks 'Mary Jane Holland', 'Do What U Want' and 'Swine', her soaring and wildly differentiating vocals adds a vital layer to the entire project, and her ease at transcending between vulnerable and outright vocal beast can only be admired. 'Jewels & Drugs' is particularly interesting, with TI, Too Short and Twista lending their talents to the song, which proves successful. 'Artpop', the title track, leads the listener down a dark path, it's off-hand beats, aided by Gaga's voice, gently eroding their expectation of the same old song structure, and is a personal favorite of mine.

'Aura', 'G.U.Y', 'Donatella' and 'Dope' fall short in this company, and this is where my biggest concern with 'Artpop' arises. For me, these songs prove just too experimental, with not enough of Stephanie Germonotta's own personal stamp. Her voice, and her direction, seem buried, at least in comparison to the other (great) tracks, while 'Do What U Want' evokes no emotional response for me whatsoever, regardless of her voice.

Back to the point of this review: Opinions. You will listen to Artpop, and you will either love it or hate it. There seems to be an unusually strong negative response regarding this album, but it depends on each individual's taste. In my view, Gaga still has a way to go before she releases an album that will truly revolutionize music, and the mediocre tracks on 'Artpop' prevents her from doing so.

Comparing to her previous works, ARTPOP stands alone. Lady Gaga wanted to make it like a performance (with an opening act and applause in the end), but I think that she could make it a little bit better by bringing more ART or musical styles she's famous for.

Of course, there are some songs that show us how hard she's been working the past 2 years prior the album's release (G.U.Y., Sexxx Dreams, DWUW, Artpop, MANiCURE, Swine, Gypsy and Applause); but the other part of what was meant to be the story of "How ART Met POP" is like an old Hollywood cliche, and sometimes you find yourself asking what kind of ART she's bringing to Pop Culture in these songs.
Yes, no one is perfect and even the greatest people make the silliest mistakes, but when we talk about such a revolutionary artist like Lady Gaga, we mean that she is a perfectionist and always tries to make everything brilliant (she's said about it hundred times).

So I hope that ARTPOP: Act II will be in same matter that The Fame Monster and Born This Way were.

Still, Gaga’s weird streak comes through—the record also has raging electric guitars (the Adele-goes-wild “Manicure”), sparkly R&B electro (the R.
