  1. Quixotic was one of the best albums [in] Europe last year and Anything will be one of the best here in 2004.
  2. Anything ends with all expectations met, but little else. Martina Topley-Bird has the kind of voice that deserves beautiful and strange accompaniment, and as such, most songs beg for so much more.
  3. Fresh and imaginative, "Anything" is one intoxicating recording.
  4. If it disappoints, it is largely in sounding like a fine record from six or more years ago.

More distinctive than the arrangements, though, are Topley-Bird's utterly unique vocals. [Sep 2004, p.117]
  6. Of course, if you really care for Topley-Bird, you're going to want the full-length U.K. album. But if you just want a great album, Anything will not disappoint.

Her effortless cool has gained range. [Sep 2004, p.144]
  8. Here we get the full range of peaks and valleys from Martina's vocals, but the songs are a bit syrupy for those prepared for the menace of Maxinquaye-era Tricky.
  9. Entertainment Weekly

Makes the case for life after trip-hop. [13 Aug 2004, p.85]
  10. Bluesy, fragile and gorgeous.
  11. Rolling Stone

    A fantastic solo debut. [19 Aug 2004, p.120]

It gets better as it goes along: 5 of the last 6 tracks are very good.
