Don't know why people cannot accept change. Yes, the album marks a shift from much of the band's previous work, but this does not mean that it is worse, it's just different. People, and so artists as well, change and evolve, get used to it.

A very consistent album that marks a change for the band. They are making music they want to make instead of sticking with the same sound. This is not a rock album it is a blend of electronic rock and indie. Favourites include Love Is Madness, One Track Mind, Dangerous Night, Remedy and Rescue Me

The genre sidebar on this site has some serious problems. Just ridiculous those people throwing sick words to this record. I'm giving it a ten cause it deserves a higher score.

Jared Leto needs this excessive autotune? I loved the last album, so I was looking forward to this album. What a sad surprise. I hope the next one is good, I know their talent and potential.

Great work with some recent music tendencies, proving to be something original but not as original as their previous albums.

I don't know what's wrong with most of the people on the internet.
This album is a great one, much better than most of the mainstream music these days.
It's all about change and evolution of music. This doesn't mean that Thirty Seconds to Mars cannot make what they have made before, it's just that they follow change and innovation. They take risks to create something different everytime

Reviews proved to be divisive just as the band conceived the album, I guess they succeeded with their concept.

They used to be quite unique - releasing music that could appeal to both pop and rock fans. But this album is a misstep.
    Extremely boring. Enought said.

Someone may not like its genre, but the album remains coherent with its concept and this makes it a great record.

man o man this album sucks balls. It's so bad i can't even believe this is the band that made The Kill and From Yesterday.

Let's do a short track by track review: Walk on Water: This is kinda a okay song gets you pumped, great for sport events! Even tho i don't like songs that are build around oh oh oh. 7,5/10 Dangerous Nights: meh its already going downhill this track sounds very

Let's do a short track by track review:
Walk on Water: This is kinda a okay song gets you pumped, great for sport events! Even tho i don't like songs that are build around oh oh oh. 7,5/10
Dangerous Nights: meh its already going downhill this track sounds very empty and just like a typical pop song you hear on the radio. 5/10
Rescue Me: Jesus, what is this? Jared Leto is auto tune is just awful in this song. the guitar is fake and where are the drums? this song sounds yet again very empty whit some awful lyrics as well. 2/10
One Track Mind: 30stm going Hip Hop that's what you won't right? the lyrics are so bad it's just unbelievable. Asap rocky on a 30stm record it's like a nightmare. 1/10
Monolith: Overly epic but it's okay, why didn't the record start with this??? 7/10
Love is Madness: Halsey why? Yet again awful autotune no guitar or drums. And if you listen closely you can hear the same sounds an in Monolith that's how lazy this album is. At least the production is a little better. 3/10
Great Wide Open: Yet again so much oh oh, but outside of that it's a pretty decent track i like the gospel choirs on here. 6,5/10
Hail to the Victor: Stop Jared, he is trying so hard to stay relevant with his massive ego. This Track man it's awful yet again no real instruments just awful computer sounds. 0/10
Dawn will rise: Autotune, slow, boring lyrics and no instruments. 0/10
Remedy: This is actually a okay song. At least this one isn't full of computer sounds and autotune the lyrics are pretty good to. 6/10
Live like a Dream: ooooh oooh oooh, This songs feels like it should have been on LLFD but didn't make the cut. No depth in this track whatsoever. Jared thinks he's performing live while in the studio i think. 3/10
Rider: Cool closer but overly epic again and abrupt ending. 5,5/10

    Some other thinks:
The cover of this record is just awful!
Why is this album Called America when most songs are about love? the only songs that are maybe about America are: Walk on water, Hail to the Victor and Dawn Will Rise
Stop with the ooh's the only songs not having ooh's are: One Track Mind, Monolith, Dwan Will Rise and Remedy. The other 8 songs have ooh's and some like Walk on Water and Live like a dream have more ooh's than normal word's.
Jared's big ego is so annoying
    Where is Tomo???

All in all this album is awful! Don't buy it!

Seems par for the course for 30 Seconds to Mars so I don't know why people are freaking out. Every album has 4-5 great/good/decent songs and the rest is more or less filler.

Dangerous Night, Rescue Me, Walk on Water, Hail to the Victor, and Love is Madness are solid tracks in 30STM's lexicon but the rest is decidedly meh. While these are songs I have saved to my Spotify as I enjoyed

While these are songs I have saved to my Spotify as I enjoyed them I have to say even these are decidedly lacking in heart and passion. Nothing here hits on the heart found in songs like Kings and Queens, Vox Populi, City of Angels, etc.

It does feel like the band didn't really know what it wanted to do with this album. There's a lot of experimentation with not a lot of ambition or passion in these tracks. So while I feel it's not out of habit for 30STM to put out a decent amount of filler on each album, the highlight tracks on this album don't quite reach the highs of the others and for that, this is probably the most disappointing album to date.

Wow, talk about a disappointment. I was super excited for this album back when "Walk on Water" dropped as a single last August. The only time before that I had really heard 30STM was in 2014 when I saw them in concert with Linkin Park, but I remember them being really good. Then January rolled around, and we got "Dangerous Night." This song was really nothing special, and it'sWow, talk about a disappointment. Then January rolled around, and we got "Dangerous Night." This song was really nothing special, and it's disappointing because it's produced by Zedd, one of my favorite EDM artists this decade. "One Track Mind" and "Rescue Me" were awful, then the whole album dropped, and it's bad. Aside from the aforementioned "Walk on Water," the only great track on this album, the only songs I can say I like are "Great Wide Open" and "Hail to the Victor." There are tracks such as "Monolith" and "Rider" that are just unnecessary filler, and tracks where Jared Leto really doesn't seem to give a crap about emoting while he sings, such as "Dawn Will Rise" and the aforementioned "One Track Mind." And on the latter, A$AP Rocky's verse is just extremely boring, the worst bar being that forced reference to the band's name. Speaking of featured artists, Halsey is totally wasted on the track "Love Is Madness," which virtually just repeats the same verse twice and there is little to no creativity in the lyrics. Overall, this will probably go down as the most disappointing album of 2018.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This has to be the worst album I’ve heard all year honestly. There’s really no argument there. This album is just garbage. I really had a hard time finding positive things to say about this album. Atleast some of the worst albums I’ve heard such as “Revival” show clear signs of effort or atleast personality interlaced into the tracks. This new album by Thirty Seconds to Mars however has basically none of that.

It’s like Jared Leto completely forgot how to write a decent song and just focuses on making every track sound grandose as possible. They even incorporate every awful musical and lyrical cliché you can imagine; this album is just a pandora’s box of painful insipid millenial pop clichés with incredible lackluster songwriting.

The music on this album is just as cookie cutter as a trashy generic female pop singer with a six-year major record label contract. (Yes we’re looking at you, Halsey.) Musically, the chorus of “Dangerous Night” just sounds like a really terrible Daughtry ripoff for whatever reason; and the awful amount of autotune placed on Jared’s vocals don’t do any favors for him either.

I have no idea what to say about the lyrics, other than I am completely blown away by how sh*tty they are. “One Track Mind” is easily one of the worst ballads I’ve heard this year, as it tries to blend tastless edgy sadness with a sense of romanticism; and it only makes the track sound worse. A$AP Rocky’s verse is just complete cringe and utterly fails at trying to sound romantic, especially with vomit-inducing lines like “Heard it was only 30 seconds to mars, but it takes you even less to get to my heart”. The closing track “Rider” just sees Leto crooning a bunch of really trite clichéd phrases that basically mean nothing at this point.

Not to mention, pretty much every single track on this album just completely abuse the millenial whoop like it’s something to behold. I know this band has been dabbling in millenial woahs before, but it seems like this band relies on them like the awful millenial whoops are supposed to bring meaning to these awful generic stale songs.

I think this album has revealed how truly untalented this band is, and I honestly feel bad for even liking this band’s music as a kid. It’s basically just One More Light 2.0. I don’t think there’s one single redeeming quality to Jared Leto’s approach to pop music. I would never come back to this album even if someone placed a fully loaded revolver against my head.

The only true great thing on this album is remedy who sing is shannon leto, the beat is the same on all the songs, the autotune hurt my ears.
There are good songs like dangerous night and rescue me but they were destroyed by that awful beat, love is madness and one track mind are the worst songs they ever made imo, the other ones i hope they do a "church of mars" version with only guitar

I don't know if worse is the album or the whole forced and desperate promotion over this showing that the one thing that the """band""" is right now is being sick for attention from a country who doesn't care about them.
This album is bad, it sounds like the chaismokers, man vs computer, not like a band sounds. Terrible and sad.

Anyone who claims this is "creative" needs to listen to every other pop record released in the past 10 years.
They went the easy route and look where it got them.. a 4.5 on metacritic.. but of course it's their highest selling record because the kids will eat this **** up.
they aren't a band anymore.. call it the Jared Leto's solo project.

It's 1 and not 0 bc the band (read "Jared") took a leap into doing something else entirely, leaving rock, leaving the idea of good authentic music. Yea the end product is ugh but they tried. And I'm disappointed af

With 30STM no longer needing to prove who they are or what they’re capable of, the musical direction taken with this album is perfect for its theme, genre, and goals. America presents the most contemporary, Top 40-friendly version of Thirty Seconds to Mars to date. Bombastic drums and guitars have largely been replaced with fairly tame looped and programmed beats and ominous synths, basically reimagining Thirty Seconds to Mars as the glossy grungetronica of Imagine Dragons. Leto still screams like a banshee, but for once the sounds backing him don’t match his fury.
