You know what you're getting with both artists, but they have created a sequel that surpasses its predecessor. [Oct 2025, p.65]

If there’s any album to compare this to, it would have to be The Clipse’s recently released “Let God Sort Em Out”, as both are similar and uncompromisingly raw in sound and content. But “Alfredo 2” differs in style and tone. The album’s edge? It has a narcotic swagger with flash and no polish, as well as being a very welcome and well-timed contemporary follow-up.

This album is just as vibrant, innovative and exciting as Alfredo was five years ago.

A record of incredible depth, ‘Alfredo 2’ is a celebration of the art, a platform of excellence.

Because we’ve seen what’s possible, it’s impossible to ignore that the totality of Alfredo 2 doesn’t measure up to its predecessor. While Gibbs has once again blended his streetwise raps with ALC’s high-art craftsmanship, the experience feels like a shadow of its potential. Sonically and lyrically, Alfredo 2 still has plenty to chew through, and it reflects a partnership that continues to reap the benefits of its collective power.

“Gold Feet” feels as if it could have been pulled off a hard drive that had been neglected since 2018, all the way down to its JID feature. But more often, the album pushes through that illusory ease to deliver heavier tracks and a more animated Gibbs than we’ve seen for some time.

For all his weariness, Gibbs remains compelling and cogent. This time, JID, Larry June, and Anderson .Paak are the guests, and the track with Paak is (no surprise) both the hookiest and most in tune with Gibbs' heavy ambivalence.
