  1. Reflections on love, life and 'the wife' abound as horns parp Ronson-ly. But only Sixties cover 'I'm Alive' soars.
  2. They include brassy belters of the style that Mark Ronson has brought back into fashion, ugly stabs at funk and a cover of Bruce Springsteen's boxing classic, The Hitter, that is more Joe the Plumber than Joe Calzaghe. The ballads, however, offer richer pickings.
  3. Mojo
    60
It's at once plush and anodyne, both insatiable and confined. [Dec 2008, p.100]
  4. Uncut

This is a "Talk Of the Town" of the mind, and he is clearly in his elemnt. [Dec 2008, p.100
  5. Q Magazine
    60
This is an unusually sentimental record, co-written by the man himself, in which many songs bravely cast him as the old man he is. [Jan 2009, p.118]
