There's evolution with purpose in every fiber of 1989, and far from jettisoning her integrity in this drastic lunge, she's proved in her bold, risky decision that she's got courage in her convictions to pull it off and faith in her fans to accept the new direction.

Muchos piensan que por las ventas este ha sido el mejor álbum de Taylor, pero creo que solamente los singles y otras 2 canciones son lo único bueno que trajo este disco.

Taylor released one of the best pop albums of the decade. All of the songs are a pleasure to listen, with smart lyrics.

THIS IS NOT HER BEST ALBUM PLS I am a hundred percent sure that people love this record cause it contains Taylor's biggest hits like Blank Space, Shake It Off. Of course she went totally pop with that, then most people loved this switch. I have no thoughts about this changing. I just think that people always praise this record and it makes 1989 little bit overrated. There is a reason this is the most awarded pop album in history. Taylor manages to put together a beautiful collection of pop perfection. Entertaining and fresh sounding, with the exception of bad blood and how you get the girl, any one of the songs could be a single/hit.

Confused at how this won AOTY. There are a couple songs that are good, but not outstanding. Not memorable, not classics. Specially not for the hype. And this album actually does the disservice of carrying more than one song that universally annoys people. An iconic moment in history. When Taylor Swift switched from country to pop with this album, the world stopped and focused on Taylor Swift, and suddenly everyone knew who she was. Besides the singles, she had amazing album tracks that were reminiscent of 80’s bangers and all seemed to flow beautifully. The closing track, Clean, is one of her most important and best songs she’s ever made. And the deluxe version was an extra bonus of three beautifully written and produced songs. Expand

Quiso copiar a TEENAGE DREAM y sus logros y en verdad no lo hizo. Creo que sus canciones solo son comerciales pero no da un mensaje claro ni nada

I decided to listen to it myself and boy was I surprised. Not only was it boring it was bloated with pointless filler that felt like a chore to get through. I was just waiting to be impressed yet I wasn’t, Taylor obviously needs to work on creating better pop music.

Historically I've never been a fan of Taylor Swift and haven't been remotely interested in what you might call top 20 chart music for the last 20 years or so. "1989" is my guilty pleasure. I recently read an articule which likened "1989" to a type of "Thriller" for the 2010's. This comparison got my attention. Then Ryan Adams recorded and actually released a track back track cover of the album. This stoked my interest even further and I decided it had to be checked out. Yes it has sugar coated production dripping from every pore but when you break the songs down into their components, these are top notch as pop music goes. The vocal performance and the production work is of the highest quality and is especially noticeable when played through a good quality sound system rather than tinny earphones. The singles lifted from the album are the highlights and one fault I would pick out of the album is that is could arguably be a leaner beast but I have to say that overall, "1989" is one of my favourite albums of the year. Put your hipster attitude to the side and let yourself have some fun and listen to this. You might just enjoy it. Expand

Swift proved with this masterwork that not only could she do pop, but that she could do pop better than her contemporaries. From start to finish, the album raised the bar for pop music in the subsequent years, and proved that Swift’s experimentation (and risk-taking) had truly paid off.

On many songs, her clever songwriting may be overlooked for the beats but what sets her apart from so many others is that on several occasions, her words are more skin deep than her peers, making her certainly more relatable but perhaps not to the extent of another mega-force, Adele. All in all, a very pleasing album. Expand

With 1989 she has succeeded in leveraging the most cordial and familiar of pop music outpourings to something that feels like a statement, a work of note and the sinew of some kind of emotional connective tissue–binding tastemakers, rock critics, guys I work with and my 12 year old cousin; irrevocably and unexpectedly.

What stands out more than the production is how consistently solid the album is, and how effective the lyrics and songwriting.

1989 is full of cliches, but the truth is that we wouldn't expect them to not be present anyway.
