She brought nothing new to the table, even Prism had more depth, she should stick to her own lane. We already have enough half-baked pop albums coming out like clockwork, please Taylor don’t make us suffer more. Your lyrical content suffered massively while you attempted to be inspired by the dull and insipid beats supplied to you by pop music’s most generic producer. Don’t expect much from this album otherwise you’ll be sorely disappointed, but I’m sure her army of fans called the “swifties” will try to convince everyone this failed attempt was actually decent. Frankly, I'm not too concerned with the genre of the album, but the timeless value it presents. Every pop album released in the last decade has had several catchy hooks peppered throughout; so to simply have catchy hooks is not enough to call this album great. 1989 presents nothing new. It provides nothing for its listeners other than catchy hooks and new songs to bump with your girlfriends(or metro-sexual friends, as the case may be). The songs are nice and all; but its nothing ground breaking. I would like to see the critic score in the 60s and the user score around 7. Taylor just simply isn't an "artist," she's a singer--if you can even call her that. Expand

My problem with Taylor is that she is so painfully generic, bland and annoying. People will sing her praises and she'll be America's sweetheart and only the few will recognize her for the vapid, vacuous, black hole of talent and interest that is is.

Extremely plain repetitive work. By far her worst album to date, highly over rated. There are plenty of other mediocre pop artists out there, Red was better then this.

This girl has some great karma to become so rich and famous after releasing some seriously mediocre albums, but it's no secret that Taylor Swift has some faithful fans who will love whatever she releases - good or bad.

TERRIBLE. That's all I can say. It's just her usual overly emotional breakup complaints. But now she's just trying to hide it. It's still the same junk that Taylor Swift has always had.

I'm a huge Taylor Swift fan, and I have probably more songs by Taylor Swift than I have by almost any other artist. I'm also MUCH more a fan of pop and rock than I am of country (though there's a fair amount of CM I like), and I tend to like Taylor's pop influences.

I was really excited about 1989 and was looking forward to buying a bunch of songs ... until I heard them. Vapid,

I was really excited about 1989 and was looking forward to buying a bunch of songs ... until I heard them. Vapid, mindless, emotionally-empty lyrics set to droning, repetitive synthesizer music. It lacks the depth and complexity and raw emotion of previous albums, and the music, while not BAD for what it's TRYING to be, honestly is not trying to be very much. 1989 is an album whose songs lack ambition to be anything more than teenage slumber party sock-hop tunes.

Se vale de canciones de relleno, que no dejan ver la esencia real del álbum. Se esperaba mucho más de su entrada al pop, y no transmite lo suficiente.

Aside from Welcome to New York and Shake it Off, this album was about the same topic as all of Taylor Swift's other albums. It sells well, but lyrically, the album is very weak, generic, and boring. The only reason why the album got a score higher than a 0 is because of Shake it Off.

An absolutely brainless, soulless, heartless album! She's still got that middle school girl mentality that she can never shake off. Funny she writes a song called "Shake it off," while still doing all that crappy overproduced pop songs with extremely lame lyrics. Not to mention she has an awful voice that sounds like nightmare. Glad she's off spotify. Not even worth 1 cent. Next!

I have to hand it to her. Taylor Swift, combining this album and the absolute artistic bankruptcy of modern corporate radio, has found a way to violate my ears in ways I never thought they could be violated.

Let me be clear. I am here against my will. I have not had a desire to listen to a Taylor Swift song in my entire life. And yet, here I am, submitting a review for an atrocious album I never wished to hear a single track of, and feeling entirely within my rights to do so because I know more than 50% of it's tracks better than I know some Led Zeppelin songs I've been listening to for 20 years. Why? Because it is not possible to work in any office setting, take a bus, take a cab, take a subway, walk through any mall or shopping plaza in America without hearing her shrill, whiney lyrics bombarding your ears.

Perhaps you could say that I should not fault Ms. Swift for the overbearing omnipresence of her music. **** Taylor Swift has made millions (if not billions) of dollars by making exactly the music that corporate radio wants her to make. More than any of the pop queens out there, Swift is more than willing to make exactly the kind of music these devoid-of-any-talent hacks think will sell.

Which brings me to 1989. This album is garbage in musical form. It is a pop princess who has never seen a day's worth of misfortune in her life trying (and succeeding) in making a generation of nitwits think she is a victim. It is a 25-year-old woman writing about boys and relationships as if she were 13. And above all, it is the same **** in every song!!! I can only think of two reasons for this, neither of which cast Swift in a good light: 1.) Either she is a terrible artist who writes horrifically bad, derivative, and immature lyrics because she genuinely feels those emotions and sees life in that twisted way, or 2.) She is a greedy, cynical fat-cat in league with corporate radio to manipulate millions of dollars out of the pockets of tweenage girls and their parents. But no, because Kanye West was mean to her at the Grammy's that one time, everyone should feel sorry for her forever.

Sorry. I don't. Please go away Taylor.

" Taylor Swift " an artist who makes albums and music just for the charts and the money. All the songs of 1989 album were made to be no.1 hits: dead beats, lame and childish lyrics, mediocre vocals. this is how i would describe this album.

Taylor was inspired by the 80´s music, but she did an album that isn´t good, just an american trash product of 2014, "EMOTION" by Carly Rae Jepsen is what 1989 want to be.

1989 is not as good as her previous albums, and Taylor's songwriting edge is getting duller by the minute. With 1989 she has succeeded in leveraging the most cordial and familiar of pop music outpourings to something that feels like a statement, a work of note and the sinew of some kind of emotional connective tissue–binding tastemakers, rock critics, guys I work with and my 12 year old cousin; irrevocably and unexpectedly.
