The first film to start a whole franchise. Now of course X-Men looks outdated after Marvel movies. The film cannot be called the best in the series, but it reveals new characters. The brooding mysterious Wolverine. The interesting villain in Magneto. Where could this all go and where could this all end up? While I appreciate X-Men for taking superhero movies more seriously, it doesn't hold up overall as a film. The effects are horrible, the action's terrible, the characters aren't interesting (except for Wolverine), and while it's amiable that the movie attempts to have a message of racial prejudice, but the film fails to show any of the good people who WOULD support the mutants.

Again, X-Men has an important place in film history, but I feel like it's aged.… Expand

Rewatching this movie for the first time in a long time brought back nostalgia but the critic in me now saw the flaws I didn’t see as a kid.

Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart & Ian McKellen play their respective characters fantastically. As for the rest of the heroes, they were okay. But as for the villains, aside from an okay Mystique, as boring as watching paint dry. Sabertooth was far too quiet and seemed at times a brainless muscle just roaring and giving odd stares. Toad should of been more witty and was also too quiet. Not a bad film and would call it a basic X-Men film.… Expand

Есть конечно спорные моменты, того, что зрителей не знакомят с историей многих персонажей, а по быстренькому пробежались иОчень годный и интересный фильм. Есть конечно спорные моменты, того, что зрителей не знакомят с историей многих персонажей, а по быстренькому пробежались и хватит, с малым временем, но нужно было уделить этой команде кратенькое описание. Д и вообще такое чувство, что фильм только для тех, кто знает этих персонажей по комиксам, я ничего против этого не говорю, но многие люди (мое мнение) возможно не поняли, кто это, как он к этому пришел, что было вначале, как это связано и тому подобное. Но лично для меня, это прекрасный кинокомикс тех времен!… Expand

While the X-Men team and the Magneto Team seems still discover their character throughout the movie and it turn out to be just ok and sometimes cheesy, however on the most powerful character on the film, Charles Xavier and Magneto played byWhile the X-Men team and the Magneto Team seems still discover their character throughout the movie and it turn out to be just ok and sometimes cheesy, however on the most powerful character on the film, Charles Xavier and Magneto played by Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen, both actor is the two best performances in the film, they were great, i enjoy the first two act in terms of an experience, the third act was mostly boring and that whole boring section is on the last battle scene between the X-Men team againts the Magneto team, the climax didn't work for me unfortunately and it is become the biggest let down of the film, though the rest after that it brings me back again, overall X-Men did still have some cool moment, great moment, and they also have a boring moment, and cheesy moment, and i hope they develop better in the next one especially the X-Men team, it's not an awful film, it's not a great one too, it was just ok.… Expand

I've never truly read a comic book, and I have no interest in doing so. I saw this movie when I was little, and the only thing I really recall is that I like it. And now that I've watched it so long ago, I find it to be shockingly great, andI've never truly read a comic book, and I have no interest in doing so. I saw this movie when I was little, and the only thing I really recall is that I like it. And now that I've watched it so long ago, I find it to be shockingly great, and I can see why. It is really well written, covers a wide range of subjects and events, and is also brief, which is advantageous. Although many of the special effects and stunts didn't hold up with time and occasionally looked quite silly and funny, I could overlook that in a movie this old. After seeing it, you'll genuinely feel fantastic.… Expand
