It's instructive to watch the deleted scenes - two that should not be in the movie made it into the Blueray, and two that would have added real value remain cut.
Note that the blueray has issues on PS4 and Xbox with picking up after an interruption - all you'll get until you clean the internet cache is a black screen.

It's funny the opening scene fanned my worst fears as weapons that visually look like 30 pounds were wielded like they weigh 1 pound (i.e. styrofoam) BUT it got much better. This movie is actually awesome and I hope it does really well at the box office. It's the first really well done fantasy genre movie since the original LOTR series. I can't believe why the critics smashed the movie. I mean - seriously,
stupid and pathetic movie "TED" with fart jokes and stupid porn jokes
has better rating than Warcraft? Or last stupid Hobbit movies are
better? I'm from Poland and I am very sad to say that, but American
critics are stupid, really. Once they smashed really cool movie The
Lone Ranger, and now they smash Warcraft. I can't get it.

Warcraft is the best movie I've ever seen. Not only because I'm huge
Warcraft fan, but this movie is: smart, funny, entertaining, beautiful
and full of magic and battles. There's much more magic than in all
Harry Potter and LOTR movies combined. And there are no cheesy
dialogues and scenes like in Hobbit movies.

All my friends loved the movie. I've seen many fan reviews - on RT
fan's gave Warcraft 81%, on one polish movie page it's 7,6/10 and on
the theaters's website it has 9.2/10. People LOVE this movie and I
recommend the critics to change their perspective.

The movie definitely could of used the extra hour that was cut out but besides that I can't find much not to like. It's actually kind of mind boggling that this movie was reviewed so poorly, its like 1 critic reviewed it bad early and then all the other critics jumped on the bandwagon to make some clickbait articles.

I saw it with 2 people who didn't play the game and they both enjoyed it, one of them loved it and asked me 1000s of questions after the other one said they enjoyed it just as much as Avatar. They both cried multiple times during the movie and the movie received a standing applause at the end.

The orcs are absolutely gorgeous, the acting is fantastic, the magic is the best movie magic I've seen to date, the immense detail on Durotan's face is something to behold.

I'll probably see this movie 3-4 times in theaters, my only critique is that the editors cut out that hour which would of fleshed out the characters more.

This movie is amazing. I loved every second of it. As a patron of nearly all sources of warcraft lore (books, games, graphic novels, etc.), I thought this movie not only captured the spirit of the warcraft universe, but also injected some "humanity" or "realness" to the pre-WoW orcs. Awesome. I look forward to my next viewing. Expand

What is the most important thing of all? Viewers must support this movie because it can be the start for something really great. They decided to start from the basics so they took the story from the very first Orcs vs Human game, which is really basic and lacks the presence of many "larger than life" characters from world of warcraft.
The movie also lucks good acting and it's not friendly to someone not familiar with that lore but the actual fan will feel like home. Was it necessary to start from this point of the lore? I guess not and they probably needed to start with a blast but still it's nice to see the story of the games unfold from early on with a "light" war movie.
It's really frustrating to see how professional critics approach the movie. It's fun to read about "scenario" depth and things like from the same critics who glorify crappy movies, which are actually way more shallow and stupid.
Ok, you are gonna say that I also say some negative things about the movie so how do I answe the question "Why the film is good?" It's good because it's almost an excellent transition of a video game into a movie. It's colorful and it brings the spirit of the franchise on the big screen. It has swords, it has magic, it has shiny armors and almost everything a good fantasy movie has to include. Is it lord of the rings? No, but you will definitely have fun, you will smile a lot and if you are a fan you are gonna feel amazing watching WoW becoming a "real" thing. Now, people with little to zero knowledge about the lore and stuff may enjoy it a little less but it's still a fun action movie to watch.

The movie is a solid 8 for the fans and probably around 7 for the rest. For the alliance or for the horde, support this movie and let's teach those ignorant hipster critics a lesson. Don't tell me that you don't want to see Thrall spinning that Doomhammer or small Varian to grow up and kick some ass. Don't you wanna see more elves or even Arthas? Let's do it. To arms!

So I was curious to know where they went with the story. There was a lot of easter eggs (loved the murloc sound effect when crossing the bridge) and the size and scope of the land(s) was nice to see enhanced for a movie rather than the smaller scale the technology could afford in World of Warcraft.

I was actually pretty glad to see it was prequel to WoW so as someone who hasn't read any books or anything other than playing WoW it was nice to get some prelude of the events happening in WoW proper. We FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY get to see mages/sorcerers/magicians/wizards whatever you want to call them (mages here) on the big screen do fantasic magic. Only thing I missed was there was no ice mage only fire and arcane. Yes I played mage a lot in the game haha. But I've always wanted to see mages do more in a movie that unlock doors and light the end of their staff (I'm looking at you Gandolf).

I HIGHLY recommend this movie and I plan on seeing it multiple times if I can! The critics are being typical critic snobs. If it's not an artsy fartsy movie or Marvel trash they dislike it. GO SEE THIS MOVIE IT'S GREAT!!!

A movie by a fan, for the fans, with much love.

As an avid Warcraft player (since Reign of Chaos), I enjoyed this film immensely. I can understand that if you're not familiar with the Warcraft universe this film might be a bit confusing. There is about 20 minutes of exposition to help those who want some back story, but it might not be enough for someone who doesn't know the beginnings of Azeroth. The movie is based on Warcraft: Orcs and Humans, the very first game in the series, with a few tweaks. There are some alterations in the overall lore (Dalaran is already in the sky, Garona and Medivh are not in love, Orgrim was under Blackhand's command and defected much later, etc.), but for all major plot points, everything stays true to the game. The film is loaded with easter eggs for fans (Lion's Pride Inn makes an appearance, the language barrier between Horde and Alliance is touched upon, etc. kek!), and while the script was a bit trite at some points (which it should be, because the Alliance is hokey at times), the film as a whole was very well done. The orcs in particular were exceptional.

I really hope this film does well; I desperately want a Reign of Chaos/Frozen Throne film! I highly recommend this film to anyone who enjoys high fantasy, but obviously and especially to Warcraft fans. I don't know what film the critics saw, but it wasn't the one I just watched. Excellent adaptation for the medium. Loktar ogar! Blood and Thunder!

A movie that could've spat on the loyal gamers to appeal to a wider audience and have more success, but chose to remain loyal to their gamers instead.

Warcraft is a marvelous mixture of neat CGI effects (taking into account other videogame-related movies and the fact 99% of the movie is computer-made), a gripping story and comely humor, and while it may not appeal to the crowd that is unfamiliar with the series, it's like living history to those who know it, love it, and play it. A game for gamers, not for your average Joe that goes to the mall with his family to have dinner at McDonald's and goes "hey, boss gave me a raise this month, why not go the movie after dinner?!"

Along with most of the user reviews, both she and I are on the side that loved it as well. There is so much for the fans of the game to geek out over and every bit of it will be lost on someone that hasn't played. That said the movie is still dang entertaining and enjoyable for the non-gamer. CGI is amazing, acting is probably not LOTR quality but still really solid. I've seen complaints that it is too focused around the Alliance (faction from the game) but everyone that grew up with Warcraft should recognize going in that this is based on Warcraft 1 which was very Alliance focused. The Horde faction gets equal screen time and the "Honor" that is at the core or of the Orc culture is always on display. I'll definitely be watching again. I loved the movie. It is good looking, many of the characters were captured perfectly even though some major events were altered to cut down on playtime. I wonder if a series would've fit the story better though, like this they'll have 6 or more movies unless the bumbling critics with fingers up their rear have their way.

I took my mother to watch this movie with me. She knows absolutely nothing about Warcraft games or it's lore.

She completely loved it.

I really don't understand the people critisizing the effects. They are simply amazing. I'm not saying this as a fan, but the movie as a whole is amazing. Seriously, the down sides here are on some dialogues (a bit juvenile) and the acting of some of the actors (like Travis).

Now, talking as fan, I would have like it a bit more if some of the changes weren't made. Nonetheless, I completelly accept and understand them, and I still like what they done. There were also some good changes. I mean, the resolution around Durotan's arch if far more glorious in the movie rather than the games' lore. One change I didn't like ? Well, trying to avoid spoilers, a major character kills another major character that should have been killed by a third manjor character. Which is important to the development. Anyway, amazing movie.

If you DON'T know anything about Warcraft, you should totally watch it. Just don't try to figure who are those guys. Just focus on what is been presented to you. Things will come clear in next movies. Or you can read the "Blood and Honor" and "The last Guardian" books to get some background.

Thank you so much for doing such a perfect adaptation from the game, I enjoyed it from the beginning to the end. I know Warcraft 3, but did not play WoW much, I even watched this movie twice and still I have been entertained greatly. Some people wrote, that they didnt like the characters. Durotan was a great character: full of wisdom. I liked his calm way of solving problems. Medivh and Khadgar were very interesting characters also and all of them fit perfectly into the Warcraft world. Only Lothar was a bit unsympathic in the beginnning.

There is another thing I liked so much: I was often wondering, why there are not so many fantasy movies with a lot of spells, like in the games. With the spells you can play with beautiful effects, they would fit in there a lot. And here you have many spells.
Another thing that I liked was the perspective of the film: I saw much more about the orc culture than that of the humans. It was very interesting.
The story is superb also with some sad moments.

So please, do the 2nd part.

Making a videoFirst and foremost Warcraft is an exciting and fun high fantasy romp through a world beloved to many gamers around the world. It would have been oh so easy to get wrong, but Legendary and Duncan Jones achieve the impossible. Making a video game movie that's actually worth watching to both fans and newcomers. It's a solid 8, but read on for my full feelings and why I'm giving it a 10!

Warcraft is on point throughout the film, delivering a somewhat unbelievable but delightfully so world filled with over the top and enjoyable characters and magical VFX. It takes established Lore from the earliest title in the Warcraft series and expands upon it, making few changes to bring it in line with current lore and deliver a more dramatic and altogether more cohesive experience.

Characterisation is fantastic with especially strong performances from the villains of the piece, exuding an almost cheesy but endearingly fun Saturday Morning cartoon villainy mixed with genuine threat and excellent delivery.

The world itself exudes life and the set pieces are gorgeous, Warcraft fans are sure to recognise various locations and little cameos that will keep them looking for the next thing to see but for everyone else it gives an excellent look into a high fantasy world presented for the big screen, something that is dissapointingly rare in this day and age.

Actions scenes delivery appropriate punch with very high energy swordplay and brawling melees mixed in with impressive spell-casting and sorcery. Once more the magical effects are astounding and for once actually make magic look genuinely impressive in an industry that all too often eschews from trying to achieve them in favour of the all too often walked low-fantasy approach.

Acting is mostly on point, with excellent casting decisions that really bring many of the characters, particularly the orcs, to life. However a few actors come across uncomfortable or wooden, the greatest offender being Dominic Cooper as Llane Wrynn, far from the inspiring king he is meant to portray he fails to offer anything that adds to the piece and ultimately the human story down. Fortunately he is supported by an excellent trio of core characters in warrior Lothar (Travis Fimmel), Mage Khadgar (Ben Schnetzer) and the half-orc that is caught between two worlds, Garona (Paula Patton) that show genuine character development as well as great on-screen performances as the budding relationship builds between the three. Ben Foster must also be commended for his performance as Medivh, the Guardian of Tirisfal whose struggles to live up to his name become a center piece for the story.

However the true stars of the show are the orcs with honourable leader Durotan (Toby Kebbell) and his trusted ally Orgrim (Rober Kazinsky) butting heads with cruel warlock Gul'Dan (Daniel Wu) and traditionalist Warchief Blackhand (Clancy Brown). Bringing a tale of honour, betrayal and distrust to the mix while giving the orcs a very human personality and story.

The Orcs themselves also look fantastic, delivered in CGI but blending seamlessly into the world with the Live Action humans. They tower meaninglessly in combat and truly strike home how massive and powerful they can be.

Having gone to see this film in the UK a week ago after reading early critic reviews I was expecting to see another dud of a video game film. I left presently surprised and decided that it would be a film to see again to experience the 4DX at Cineworld. Cinematically I enjoyed the film more the second time, and 4DX was certainly... exciting...

Overall Warcraft is extremely enjoyable for any Warcraft fan, you'll spot a few lore changes here and there but nothing that truly detracts from the experience or changes the overall theme. For newcomers I'd recommend it as an excellent entry point into High Fantasy. Don't let the critics scare you.

This film is a solid 8 out of 10 in my book. But in respect to "Professional" reviewers giving the film a 0 out of 100, which suggest that either they watched with their eyes closed, prejudged the film as a video game movie or perhaps had their firstborn murdered by the cinema staff. Who knows, either way I'm giving this film a 10, simply to balance out the laughable reviews of the critics.

Perhaps it's time for the film industry at large to re-evaluate how it looks at high-fantasy, because frankly it delivers more originality to the big screen than the dozens of Sci-Fi, Modern and Low-fantasy offerings on show these days.

Most big scene movies shy away from fantastical powers because they fear it might alienate the average person. Most super hero movies for example are turned way down low from the comics. Well not this movie. Magic is everywhere and it's the front and focus of it. Unlike some movies where Magic feels weak and it almost seems better to grab a sword or a gun, this movie made magic strong and powerful. The plot moved at a brisk pace which some people complain about, but I love. This was no Lord of the Rings were you spend 20 minutes on montages of people eating and walking. This was constant plot. You couldn't cut a single scene without losing something important. I also loved the fact that the movie was well lit, I was never complaining about shadows hiding things, and every battle was well lit with out SHAKEY CAM! I hate shakey cam. This movie was great. Will buy on Blu-ray, probably will see it again in theatres. Expand

This movie is definitely an awesome movie for Warcraft players! Those so called critic reviewers, be gone! You guys are just being unfair! Can you understand the Harry Potter movies from 5 - 7.2 without reading the book?? Hell No! And look what those Aholes rated those movies!

There are so many good stuff rated down by these so called "professionals" already, Batman vs Superman, Beyond two souls, etc, yet they are all really good movies and games. However, junks like latest CoDs(CoD was good), the division, far cry primal etc all magically get at least 9/10. Tell me you should still trust these pathetic fools. My advice for those who are not familiar with Warcarft games, read some backgrounds for 40 minutes (Very beginning, way before WarIII ), go to the theater, and enjoy the amazing cast, motion capture, animation, etc. This movie worth a 9/10. Putting 10/10 to offset the biased ratings from those brainless haters who can't think but only brainwashed by those so called "professionals".

Professional critics measure movies by medieval standards and as such are of no value to those living in 2016. That being said, this is one of the better movies I've seen in a while. I feared 2 hours will be too short to tell a story of such depth, but they did it. Durotan / Orgrim sequences are just so well executed. You can feel years of friendship between them even if you don't know the lore. You can see it in Orgrim's eyes at the end of the movie, it's quite remarkable. Not to mention Draka. Just by looking at her you know she is ready to do anything for Durotan and his son. Generally, the whole Horde part of the movie was really something unique.

It's rare to find a movie that forces you to deeply care about CG characters. Reminds me of Avatar. And if enough people see this movie, they'll probably make a sequel. Blizzard never cared about critics, which is why this movie is different.

If you don't know what a murloc sounds like, you are surely going to be confused af watching this from start to finish. I didn't play Warcraft 1 but I played Warcraft 3 and clocked hundreds of hours on WoW over the last dozen of years, it's like seeing your imaginary best friend coming into real life!

I am so glad that I played a human priest in vanilla (also an undead lock during wotlk and undead priest. A good chunk of the movie was filmed in the lowbie zones around SW, and I could name every single town that was shown in the movie. There was a scene in SW and I knew that the bank was right behind the corner on the left! There were also some sweet ass cameos! Basically, every 5mins, I would think "O damn, that's where I used to farm boars for exp!" or "O damn, isn't that the main character from a later game?!" or "O damn, hes casting arcane torrent!". All the CG scenes were so damn beautiful.

They could have gotten rid of the romance stuff all together since it wasnt developed well enough. I didn't like Travis Femmels as Anduin Lothar much... Thought he was too much like his Viking king, Ragnar Lothbrok. Medivh could be more convincing if older but overall satisfactory performance. Khadgar, unlike the popular opinion, I thought his acting was fine too. Critics say the casters acting were over the top but I guess they don't understand DPS meters or how missing a single spell can wreck your raid.

This movie is by far the best video game to movie movie. When fans go see a movie of one of their favorite video games, they simply want to see the game coming to life with ultra high def real life graphics on a massive theater screen. They usually just want to see the familiar, not some surprise plot twist to ruin their game experience with crap movie story deviations! Given that, the plot changes in the movie were understandable to fit better with the movie franchise format.

This is a gift for gamers who have spent a good chunk of their life on this game and is a must see!

The criticism that this is filled with tropes is itself a trope. Post modern fantasy is inherently flawed because it offers only suffering and nihilism for it's protagonists.

This is a movie that instead depicts family honor and love, leaders willing to sacrifice themselves for the good of the many and the concept that anyone can be redeemed. No wonder the critics hated it.

They should have shown homosexual orcs battling feminists wielding sex toys or some other degenerate concept, to be acceptable. Yes you have some classic fantasy tropes of the good king and his noble knights, but also you have some plot twists, including honorable orc warriors and above all, incredible special effects, battle scenes and enjoyable depictions of magic. This has everything a fantasy lover could want. I'm looking forward to warcraft 2.

The story line conformed perfectly to the established lore, and the setting perfectly captures the scenes portrayed by the games. The acting is very good in my opinion, the emotionally charged dialog enthralls the viewer while still managing to occasionally poke fun at itself. On a visual level the movie is absolutely stunning.

The biggest problem people have with the movie is the distinct feeling it was designed to be Act I to a larger play. This is true, it very much does feel like the setup to a larger story- but that's because it is. The lore of the Warcraft universe is vast and rich in it's depth. This movie does it's best to explain the origin of the conflict presented through-out the Warcraft lore and set the stage for the progression of the story. However this does not mean that movie fails to stand on it's own. There are moments of shock, moments of pain, moments where the audience is glued to the screen only to fall back to their seats in emotional discharge. The movie does feel like the introduction to something greater, but I feel it's a pretty damn good introduction.

The CGI is amazing and in the past I have been put off with too much and found it distracting, but warcraft gets it right on so many levels it really does not feel over the top or spoil the movie.

The movie on a whole is a great starter in what I hope continues to be a continued franchise, it makes a massive refreshing break from the constant stream of superhero movies too which I have had enough of now.

The critics, any critic who scored this below 60/70 just show how out of touch they are with the paying public and have no real clue, they should never be allowed to review anything outside of raindance.

The critics who scored below a 40 should just be fired for posting clickbait in a attempt to get traffic to their websites, David Ehrlich should be cleaning the streets for a living and allowed no where near a cinema unless he is selling the popcorn behind the counter, his review is a disgrace and the guy should hold his head in shame!

I have not seen them get it so wrong since Marco Polo, another one they got so wrong!

Good summer flick and a welcome break from the many superhero movies that seem to be released weekly!

Long time Warcraft fan. Was not disappointed at all. There were only a few cheesy parts, and some of the acting was meh, but overall it felt as epic as a Warcraft movie should.

This is movie of the year, behind The Revenant only if your not at all into gaming stories or amazing looking CG. Yes this movie is beautiful. Every thing is very well polished, and deserves praise not hate. Haters going to hate whatever, but if your not a hater go see this movie. 1160 vs 84 the count of good reviews vs negative ones at time of posting this, and for good reason. I am already looking forward to seeing it again, and not many movies do that for me. A great break from super hero movies, and with a ton of great story angles. The cast was amazing, unless your a hater. Do not let haters ruin greatness from coming out over and over again with Blizzard.. go see the movie. Expand

Warcraft is a fantasy film directed by Duncan Jones and stars Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton, Ben Foster, Dominic Cooper, Toby Kebbell, Ben Schnetzer, Robert Kazinsky and Daniel Wu.
The film is based on the Warcraft video game series and portrays the encounters between humans and orcs taking place in different locations that have been set by the video game series before.
I personally absolutely loved Warcraft from beginning to end, the incredible visuals that are perfectly mixed in with the amazing written story make up for one of the best summer blockbusters in a long while. All the actors do a fantastic job here, with Travis Fimmel as the leading character on the human side, who is really good on the role. I personally bought Dominic Cooper as the king and Ben Foster as the guardian who gave a very intimidating performance. On the orcs side the motion capture performances were absolute perfection, with the amazing Toby Kebbell on the lead as Durotan.
Without spoiling anything I was really caught off by surprise by the amount of deaths of the main characters on this film. I have never played any of the video games and I had no idea what I was walking in to but that really raised the stakes up for the finale against the ever so brilliant villain of the film Gul'dan portrayed by Daniel Wu. The soundtrack composed by Ramin Djawadi is also beautiful and epic at times. It fit in with the battles perfectly all throughout.
Overall I truly enjoyed this film and my only issues with it is that the beginning is kind of slow but everything else was amazing and just breathtaking to look at. I am a big fan of the film and I hope there will be a sequel in the near future to arrive.

I knew the story already so of course I loved it (few lore changes were, I would say... kind of cool), the CGI was breathtaking and the music - I'm listening to it to this day since! In general, my Warcraft movie dream came true. I'm so happy it was made by fans of the game, you could totally feel it as one of them! (I so much hope for the sequel!!) Expand

In fact, this is a decent movie even if the cast and storyline are a bit of sloppy. No matter who you are, a Warcraft fan, a fantasy nerd, or just general audience, al I can say is that watching this movie is enjoyable and is definitely not a disaster. As a fan, I just don't want to see those foolish critics ruin a decent movie which deserves a decent score. And that is why I leave a comment here. Expand

I watched this movie with an open mind and I have to say it was incredibly entertaining from start to finish. I was a little sceptical about the use of CGI and thought the Orc characters might suffer because of it, instead I found myself following Durotan's path through the story more than any other. I think we've well and truly reached the point where actors playing CGI characters should be considered equally to mainstream actors, I also think the team behind the CGI portraying these characters are very talented and should be commended for their exceptional work. Excellent movie, well deserving of a sequel. Expand

Maybe less appealing if you aren't keen on how cool it is to finally see characters like Gul'dan, Durotan and Medivh on the big screen finally. Aside from that, it is graphically astonishing. The environments, horizons, the orcs, the arcane and fel energies.

I was afraid of them tapping into the origin stories of warcraft as I felt it would be a difficult thing to untangle. There are SO many characters in this that are essentially the origins of the bloodlines of characters that we come to know and love in Warcraft III(2003) and World of Warcraft(2004-Present). They manage to handle Durotan, Ogrim, Gul'dan, Lothar, Llane, Khadgar, Medivh, Garona, and more, all stories told with appropriate allotment in my book.

As someone who is a complete stickler, they only gripe I can muster to find is that they didn't namedrop two certain orcs, the nightelfs weren't purple enough, and there was not much representation of any of the cool beasts/enemies from the games.

They actually somehow did it, and I can't wait to see the main characters in the next movie (Hint: It's probably gonna involve the mains from Warcraft III).

Thats pretty much the sole thing thats dividing the audience. Having had played warcraft reign of chaos and frozen throne, I was able to follow along well enough to understand where the direction of the film was taking me. However, I can see where the immersion and pacing could have suffered for those audience members whom knew nothing about the lore or world. I'd love to see a sequel, but am fearful due to the overwhelmingly negative critic response. They went in to this film wanting to hate it. Expand

It has excellent CGI, fantastic design aesthetics, interesting (if not exactly deep or groundbreaking) characters, great action scenes and a story that does a solid job of world-building for future installments while effectively telling its own self-contained tale. I'm not a Warcraft fan but I enjoyed the hell out of this and its vastly superior to the 1st Transformers movie (which somehow managed a 61 critic score). Not just a good popcorn flick but a testament to how badly the critic system screws particular types of movie. "An 8.7. fan score? Universal acclaim? Naw, lets have a handful of the most pretentious cinephiles tell us how we should or shouldn't enjoy our entertainment." Roll on Warcraft 2! Expand
