Wall-E is one of Pixar's best animations. The lack of lines enriched the film, and genre characteristics such as romance and dystopia were well expressed.

Love story about two chalk and cheese robots with a eco warrior plot. Very funny film with lots of phyisical humor. Funny how animated robots with very limited basic articulation and dialogue can emote better than most live action actors? Go figure!?

Pixar has made many great films, but director Andrew Stanton's film, WALL-E takes the cake as the best one. This expertly written, beautifully animated film manages to grab the viewer's attention in the first few minutes with little to no dialogue.

I will say I loved this movie, it is a truly beautiful movie. It could have done with being a tad longer perhaps, but essentially this is more than a movie with A List vocal talents, WALL-E has genuine heart and will definitely enchant children and any Pixar fan. All I will say is that I am sorry it took me such a long time to see it, I will admit I was differing whether I should see it or not. But I am glad I did. The animation is simply incredible, the whole film is wonderful to look at. The whole movie is done in a very sophisticated visual style, and the bright colours and sublime backgrounds were a delight to the eyes. The music is stunning, the orchestral themes are gorgeous but the song from Hello Dolly! was great and fitted in with the story well. Speaking of the story, it may seem thin to some, but it is a very simple heart warming one all the same with depth and poignancy. There are some very imaginative moments, such as the zero-gravity dance and the ride through space. The voice cast that includes Fred Willard, Sigourney Weaver and Pixar regular John Ratzenburger did an exceptional job, and all the characters were endearing. What made the movie was WALL-E himself, he has to be one of the most lovable and in-depth Pixar characters ever, and the writers create a very haunting atmosphere in the early scenes to match our little hero's isolation. All in all, brilliant, quite possibly one of the best films of 2008. 9.5/10 Bethany Cox Expand

There is an innocent joy evident within this film of which theaters have not seen in quite some time. WALL-E's powerful first half involves little dialogue and though some may find it boring, the movie never loses sight of where its going and what it wants to be. The second half is more standard Pixar fare but is enhanced by the attachment we grow towards WALL-E early on in the movie. This movie does not try to dazzle us with special effects or perplex us with a complex plot. The animation, though amazing, and the plot, though interesting, never overtake the characters in terms of importance. Pixar' took two significant risks with this movie: taking a slow approach to the scenes on Earth and having a largely speechless main character. Both paid off handsomely making WALL-E an affecting and enthralling classic. Expand

Consigliato? Sì, decisamente.

I saw its poster in the newspaper and thought it was a cool robot movie. I asked my mom to let me watch it but since we come from a very conservative family, I wasn't allowed to. We didn't have a TV at home and even when we got one, we didn't have Disney Channel paid on it. So I finally got to see it a few years ago when I was travelling in the metro. And boy this is such a good movie, I'm really disappointed I didn't see it earlier.
WALL-E is everything we expect from a Pixar movie. It has a central character who is identified by his desire to do something big. He is living alone on a deserted planet, still cleaning up everything because that was his job. His innocence is what makes him so interesting. The movie is also moving forward with character development and world building, which makes us, the viewers, know just as much as WALL-E does. There is nothing that we don't know and a concept comes from out of the blue. The only other Pixar movie I can think of where this happens is Cars.
The second important character in the movie is EVE. WALL-E falls in love with her not only because she is also a humanoid robot with a feminine touch and voice, but also because she is the only other creature WALL-E has seen in this post-apocalyptic world. Other than her he has only seen rats and cockroaches, and we have seen how he treats them as a friend too. This is a metaphor of how we see the little things in life when we have nothing to either distract us or to force us to do something else. This is why WALL-E gets so much distressed when EVE puts the plant inside her and switches off, and also why he decides to follow her to space.
In space also WALL-E is really confused. He was never designed for space, nor had he ever seen what space looked and felt like. He had also seen the humans physically for the first time, who have deformed to a point where they are no longer recognisable. Speaking of the humans, their bones have gone detached and they are literal jellybeans at this point, who can no longer work. And they are not in a shape to continue working for very long at this rate, which can lead to their extinction. All of this happened because humans didn't care about the planet and focused more on leaving it than fixing it.
Once the humans finally reach Earth, they start their civilisation afresh on the abandoned planet. This is the most important message in the movie; it is never too late to redeem yourself. Many people think that the message of the movie is just to preserve the planet, but in my opinion THIS is the true message. Finally EVE and WALL-E unite and they live happily ever after, which makes it the most Pixar movie to ever exist. The animation, music, cinematography, everything is perfect. It is also suitable to people of all ages.
This is one of those movies which will be used to define what the animated movies of our era used to be like. It is cool, it is well made, it has a message, it has many fans and it's made by Disney. Plus it has so much emotion. If this is not the perfect Pixar movie, I don't know what is.

It's not hard to get attached to cute robots, but without much dialogue in the first half of the movie, I'm glad that the visual storytelling works so well to get the audience invested in these characters. The romance in this movie is also handled really well and was super heart-felt by the end of it. Thomas Newman also does a great job with the score, and I might even like it even more than his score for Finding Nemo. Maybe. I'm glad I revisited this PIXAR gem. Expand

Super recomendado.

I watched this movie on Disney+ 10 mins ago. I was so moved by it that after the film I just remained stationary for a whole minute, before clapping my hands for pixar's most astonishing achievement. The animation was incredible, the space scenes were just exquisite and the spaceship scene was wonderfully done, with some great creativity behind the making of the whole thing. The opening sequence of Wall-E was stunning. There's no dialogue but even then you're hooked to the story. This film not only sheds a light on pollution and the need to take care of the environment, but also is telling us what the earth in 500 years might be. The chemistry between Wall-e and Eve is brilliant and it also manages to be funny by adding a few hilarious characters in a superb script. Wall-E is a colossal achievement in terms of animation and screenplay for an animated film. This can surely be considered one of Pixar's best, if not the best film. Expand

Made me rethink how beautiful a simple romance is, how robots can be more human than us. Simply it comes to show that we have to stop being too complicated and it sort of predicts what would happen if we don't take good care of our home, Earth. I watched this movie back in 2008 as a kid I just liked it. Now that I re watched this movie, I felt it had a powerful message to express love and peace to the world. Great job, great movie
Very enjoyable and a roller coaster ride of emotion.

There are about four or five other films that convey its story through such marvelous technology and emotional skill. Wall-E is a testament not only to animated but films entirely. The whole opening is told almost entirely through images and it looks beautiful. While earlier Pixar films have begun to look old given the limitations of animation at the time, Wall-E on the other hand is timeless. In fifty years time the animation will still be gorgeous. The power of cinema is visual storytelling and as aforementioned, the opening is almost without dialogue, with very minor exposition. But it remains completely engaging, wholesome and funny. The fact this is a kids film makes it so much more impressive. As for the character Wall-E, he is adorable and loveable. Pixar has this magic to create complexities and human emotion in anything, including a multitude of robots (even a cockroach). As the story develops we are transported to a different setting, where it becomes more conventional film. More dialogue, faster pacing, more story, a villain. However it still feels fresh and engaging, because of the delightful characters and an enjoyable plot that never loses its head or finds itself stagnating. There is a moment halfway through the film that is pure cinematic magic. Some criticise the scientific impossibilities, but that is a cold heartless way to view this magical science-FICTION visual masterpiece. It's absolutely glorious. Wall-E is also important. It is an incredible semi-satire that is essential for children and adults to understand. The environmental message will be forever relevant and while simple (well apparently not for everyone) it is absolutely necessary. It also explores other universal themes like love and while it may not have the most depth, it is more than refreshing enough for a children's film.

Wall-E is a gold standard. It is Pixar at their most creative, most engaging and still one of the best in terms of animation quality, despite being made over 10 years ago. They employs the powers of cinema perfectly, letting the image tell the story and rarely relying on exposition. For a kids film that is marvelous. Wall-E will forever have my admiration and respect as one of the most entertaining films subjectively, and one of the best films objectively (as objective as one can be). If you haven't seen this film, I urge you to check it out. Even if you aren't a fan of animated or kids films, this one goes above and beyond.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Wall-E is a hands down A+ movie. The animation and visuals were spectacularly gorgeous, the scene where Wall-E and Eve are flying around in space was particularly beautiful and the designs of all of the robots were excellent. The soundtrack and score were phenomenal, I loved the song Down to Earth it is one of my to 10 favorite Pixar songs. The writing and story were remarkable, it was so funny, touching, and the movie had a great message. Jeff Garlin, Ben Burtt, and Elissa Knight also gave fantastic voice over performances. This is my 2nd favorite Pixar movie, one of my top 5 favorite animated movies of all time, and one of my favorite movies of all time. Expand

And even with a firm "hit me with your best shot, movie" attitude tucked snugly in my proverbial pocket, the film still managed to impress the ever-loving hell out of me, thus leaving me with the rare and yet oh-so mournful sensation of longing for what could have been. Oh, "WALL-E." How different would things be had I retained you in the annals of my memory for the past ten years? What kind of person would I have grown to be? How would that WALL-E-shaped impression in my mind have informed upon my moviegoing choices and preferences, ultimately leading to a different, perhaps brighter future that simply never was nor will be? Alas, I digress. "WALL-E" is a treasure, an absolutely winsome, beautiful, and imaginative treat for the eyes, ears, and soul. I curse myself for putting off watching it for so long, yes, but I also am deeply thankful I got around to it at all. Expand

As expected in a great Pixar movie, funny, emotional, exciting and tearjerking moments are all here. This movie is yet another flawless animated movie from Pixar, this can manage to entertain, inspire and send a powerful message to audiences from any age: from kids to adults. I can't put anything above a 10/10, but if I could, I would give it a lot more than that to this, The Incredibles, Ratatouille and Finding Nemo.

Wall-E is a small robot that was produced in series by the millions to clean up all the dirt that covered the planet, while the human race lived in a gigantic spaceship in orbit, fleeing to a polluted and uninhabitable planet. But now itWall-E is a small robot that was produced in series by the millions to clean up all the dirt that covered the planet, while the human race lived in a gigantic spaceship in orbit, fleeing to a polluted and uninhabitable planet. But now it remains only one, and he got feelings. What will happen when he falls in love? Written and directed by Andrew Stanton, this animated film from Disney / Pixar has a good cast of voice actors, headed by Ben Burtt, Elissa Knight and Jeff Garlin.

For me, this is a particularly beautiful film that seeks to prove the power of love and feelings. Feelings can be so strong that even a machine, made for the most impersonal and inhuman tasks, can love. Another topic that this film deftly explores is our current waste crisis. The planet, more polluted than ever, will have a limit? Will we one day (and our planet) will no longer be able to deal with the waste we produce? And if that happens, there will be hope?

The script is excellent, the story is very moving and how it develops is very fluid and natural. The quality and realism of the animation is what we expect from Pixar and Disney, two giants of animated world. It's not a movie just for kids, it will easily appeal to audiences of all ages. The voice actors were well chosen and did a good job, even though half of the film does not have any elaborate dialogue. The scenarios are excellent in both the planet and the human ship. The characters were made in interesting ways, but the ones that stand out are the robot Wall-E and Eve, who are more human than most people. The soundtrack is also very good.

I'm a grumpy curmudgeon, and I don't deal out perfect scores easily.

But here I have no choice! WALL-E is a piece of sublime cinematic art, cute, deep, funny, and with some of the most breathtakingly *beautiful* scenes ever made in a movie - for instance the "space dance" scene is a pure feast for the senses.

Even the credit roll is a stunningly beautiful, and even forms a creative little "what happened next" visual mini-story, with a wonderful song of Peter Gabriel. His best song ever actually IMO, almost as if he was born to do this credit roll song and his former career was merely the preparation.

When even the friggin' *credit rolls* in a movie about a friggin' *trash compactor robot* leaves you stunned and teary-eyed with emotion, then you know you're dealing with absolute perfection in the art of movie making!

If you haven't seen it yet, you're one lucky bastard - you still have this experience ahead of you!

This is not only one of the best CGI movies of all time, it is one of the best movies ever made, full stop.

Despite the decade-plus since its inception, “Wall-E” is a film very much of its moment, although in a cheeky, uninsistent way; it has plenty to say, but does so in a light, insouciant manner that allows you to take the message or leave it on the table. Adroitly borrowing from many artistic sources and synthesizing innumerable influences, Pixar stalwart Andrew Stanton’s first directorial outing since “Finding Nemo” walks a fine line between the rarefied and the immediately accessible as it explores new territory for animation, yet remains sufficiently crowd-pleasing to indicate celestial B.O. for this G-rated summer offering.

Sci-fi films have offered up an endless supply of robots and droids, just as they have imagined numerous visions of post-apocalyptic Earthscapes, and both elements are central to “Wall-E.” But how many films, sci-fi or otherwise, have proposed a future human civilization populated by people so fat that they can’t raise themselves from their mobile chairs, in which they sit connected to phones, screens and super-sized cups? One can’t help but speculate about the perverse prospect of plus-sized multiplexers laughing at these genuinely funny scenes while digging into their popcorn and slurping their sodas.

On its most elementary level, “Wall-E” is a wistful robot-meets-robot love story, in which two lonely and compatible souls, if that is an applicable term, meet in utterly against-the-odds circumstances. It’s 700 years since humans have vacated planet Earth, for unspecified reasons, and the only active inhabitants of a once-major American city are the title character — a small trash compactor on treads — and his pet cockroach.

To modern audiences, the amber-hued vistas of the abandoned metropolis will recall the effective opening stretch of “I Am Legend,” although the city here has been dead for so long that parts of it have become overgrown in the manner of Mayan ruins. Also, Wall-E has been so industrious that he (the gender is suggested, if not verified) has built neat piles of compacted metal that rival the deteriorated skyscrapers in height and architectural distinction.

Although others of his ilk (officially, Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-class) have fallen by the wayside, Wall-E, who consists of binocular-like eyes and claw-arms attached to an adaptable box frame atop triangular treads, has clearly been built to last and only needs a blast of sunlight to recharge. He’s a collector who lives in a tchotchke-filled space that resembles a larger version of himself, and he’s got a single VHS tape, of “Hello, Dolly!” of all things, to keep him company and instruct him in the ways of human courtship.

Unexpectedly, Wall-E soon needs some social skills due to the spaceship arrival of Eve (Extra-terrestrial Vegetation Evaluator). A flying white robot (voiced by Elissa Knight) who roughly resembles a plastic penguin with a black monitor for a face and a head, body and limbs that, disarmingly, don’t physically connect, Eve is a superior being in every respect. She spars physically with Wall-E, who would probably fall for any creature to come his way but quickly develops a yen to hold her hand — for him, the ultimate consummation of desire.

One of Stanton’s bold strokes is to withhold any “dialogue,” such as it is, for 16 minutes, a decision surely made long before the appearance of a similar strategy in “There Will Be Blood.” Albeit accompanied by Thomas Newman’s fine score, which provides notable support throughout, this is a silent movie for nearly the length of an old two-reeler, one that combines sobering physical spectacle with sight gags to odd and charming effect.

Everything changes when the object of Eve’s mission, a single green sprout, is uncovered, signaling the return of photosynthesis to Earth. This momentous news must be delivered to humanity posthaste, and when Eve blasts off, Wall-E latches onto her ship’s exterior.

Having focused on these two characters for nearly an hour, the film shifts into more familiar, boisterous gear upon arrival at the monstrous craft Axiom, a virtual nation in space that has been gleefully conceived and detailed to a degree that could be called malicious if it weren’t so genial. It’s a world run entirely by machines, to the extent that human beings have turned into floating couch potatoes too lethargic to move even if they wanted to. These Earthlings have turned into full-time consumers with no collective memory of where they came from or what life consists of outside their artificial compound.

A major distinction in message and tone between this and most related sci-fi is that, for a story rooted in an apocalypse, “Wall-E” is very optimistic. Yes, the worst will come, whatever it is, but humanity will, no matter what, be able to reconnect with its roots. This is good to know.
