V/H/S/99 still echoes some of the issues most anthologies face, as the rhythm of the movie depends on the pacing of each story. And at a 108 minutes runtime, V/H/S/99 might test the patience of some viewers. Still, this is the best the franchise ever gave us. Read full review

The inescapable problem at the core of any omnibus or anthology film with multiple cooks in the kitchen is, by all design, things will be uneven. Yet V/H/S/99 is fun enough in the context of TIFF’s Midnight Madness—including standouts from the usually gross and reliable Flying Lotus and Johannes Roberts, whose film is genuinely terrifying before turning a bit silly in its final moments. Full of loud, shrieking, hateful characters and shaky camera work designed to hide anything interesting, only extremely hardcore fans of the series should apply for V/H/S/99. I couldn't even find one story to grasp onto here, and that's a problem. Read full review

Felt like each vignette was maybe 5 minutes too long. Practical effects were decent and a good choice.

1. Was fun enough, maybe a few too many fakeouts.
2. Was pretty low on tension, payoff was ok
3. Fun, inventive and **** up.

Too much using the "vhs" tape as a cop out to not show things or finish a story.

Even vhs movies gotta fit the woke agenda... Went from 5 to 3
The black girl is super cute but the segment is typical white people bad, black people good, even when they commit kidnapping and murder bs… Expand
