This movie is a work of genius!This is a movie that leaves a lasting impression that lasts beyond what you think and quite a movie that will go over many people's,including reviewers, heads.You really have to see the movie twice or more to really appreciate the quality of what this movie isThis movie is a work of genius!This is a movie that leaves a lasting impression that lasts beyond what you think and quite a movie that will go over many people's,including reviewers, heads.You really have to see the movie twice or more to really appreciate the quality of what this movie is trying to accomplish,and does.There is no movie like this that was ever made,not saying that this is the best movie made,it's not by a long shot but what this movie does it does with flying aces making it a perfect ten by all measures.I might be reviewing this at a much later date(1-6-12) and it was made on 9-22-00 but I just had to review this movie because movies I consider tens need to be reviewed and the word has to be said.Watch the flawless acting,story and this will be in the back of your head throughout all your future movie watching.Like I said,a work of genius,brilliance,intelligence,pure bliss!10… Expand

Il s'agit du remake américain de notre Garde à vue franchouillard, le huis-clos brillamment écrit et superbement interprété par Ventura et Serrault... ici remplacés par les non moins brillants Hackman et Freeman.

Suspicion est une adaptation qu'on aurait pas cru à pareille fête, car s'ilIl s'agit du remake américain de notre Garde à vue franchouillard, le huis-clos brillamment écrit et superbement interprété par Ventura et Serrault... ici remplacés par les non moins brillants Hackman et Freeman.

Suspicion est une adaptation qu'on aurait pas cru à pareille fête, car s'il sait rester fidèle au film français, il sait aussi imprimer son propre style et se focaliser sur d'autres détails, mettre en relief d'autres aspects et d'autres évènements de la confrontation entre le flic et... le gardé à vue. La mise en scène de Stephen Hopkins est nettement supérieure à celle de Claude Miller, bien plus dynamique, plus inventive et on ressent moins ici l'effet "pièce de théâtre" d'un tel huis-clos.

Par contre, les dialogues sont dans l'ensemble moins percutants et Thomas Jane qui remplace l'impayable Guy Marchand n'est certainement pas à la hauteur. Moins d'ironie donc et davantage de confrontation ou plutôt de ce qui ressemble à un duel entre Freeman et Hackman qui jouent une partie d'échecs psychologique. La misère sociale du couple est également moins mise en avant, moins flagrante.

Monica Belluci, notre belle italienne importée et qui s'exporte donc aussi là-bas n'est pas aussi glaçante que Romy Schneider mais parvient à tirer son épingle du jeu : à dire vrai, son personnage présente quelques variations par rapport au film original, des variations qui restent assez dignes d'intérêt, ma foi.

Des plus et des moins donc pour ce remake qui a sa propre personnalité et bâtit un solide polar à partir du matériau d'origine. Différent mais semblable et toujours passionnant à suivre.… Expand
