The people saying this is a bad movie is incredibly wrong. I understand people's issues with it saying "it triggers anxiety easily", because it does, but that was the point. I appreciate a movie that makes me stay on the edge of my seat the entire time and this movie did just that. Yes, my anxiety was off the wall the whole movie, but it was supposed to be like that. It was showing how anxious and hectic Howard's life was. It put you into the movie and made you feel what the movie, and people in it, felt. That is true talented cinematography, directing and storytelling. That is what they should be doing. This movie was a masterpiece, in my opinion. Yes, before you watch this movie, if you have or get anxiety very easily, you should 100% prepare yourself because you will go on a very crazy ride, but don't say this movie was bad because of that. I didn't like the ending much, but that doesn't change my feelings on this movie, that just makes it even better. It made me dedicated to this character. In retrospect, he was such a douchebag, but I still liked him, cared for him and felt bad for him. After the ending, I felt a huge relief and a weight off my shoulder, in a way, that the movie was done because it made me so dedicated to it. I loved this movie.… Expand

It was pretty good. This movie definetely has a lot of interesting stuff. This is an unpopular opinion but while Adam Sandler was good I don't think he had one of the best performances of the year. It's different compared to his other sh*tty movies but he was good. I think I found interesting the "chaotic" nature of this movie, with so many scenes having crowded rooms with so much screaming and yelling that it is almost incomprehensible at times. It's not a flaw, in fact, I liked that direction and it fits the tone of the movie, so, good job.

I feel like the story at its core it's pretty simple but the way it's presented is...Convoluted? It's a messy movie. If you don't pay a lot of attention from the very beggining you will be lost. I would like to think that's the style of the directors, that's how they tell stories (I haven't seen Good Time), but it just wasn't my cup of tea and in my opinion, some scenes and plot points could've been shorter. I loved the final act, it was pretty intense and engaging even if the ending it's the most predictable thing in the world.

Overall, it's definetely an interesting movie but it's not something I would rewatch any time soon. Maybe I'm an idiot and I didn't get the movie, so I still recommend it because like I said, it has some interesting elements and you might think it's the best movie of the year and whatever.… Expand

This film was pretty great. Adam Sandler's performance was fantastic, and it is the centerpiece of this film. The acting in this film really helps establish this anxious and intense mood that is carried out throughout the entire runtime. Things get more intense and anxiety-building as it goes on, and the film does a great job of piling on to the main catalyst of the plot in an engaging way. Even though this film is pretty intense, there were some humorous moments which I found pretty funny in general. The soundtrack of the film felt pretty unique and greatly complemented the tone of the film. Lastly, the ending of the film is incredibly surprising and memorable, and I feel it perfectly capped off the plot. I don't really have any major problems with the film, although I guess some of the cinematography could've been better or at least more stylized. This film isn't for everyone, and I wouldn't recommend it to most people who typically enjoy Sandler's films, but I personally loved this film.… Expand

The film has a relatively simple story and an interesting script, the direction of the Safdie Brothers is very good, with very intriguing open plans. Another positive point of the film is its supporting cast: Kevin Garnett, Idina Menzel, Julia Fox and Lakeith Stanfield are doing very well. The film unfortunately ends up sinning in some aspects, the soundtrack ends up overlapping the story, which ends up distracting the viewer a little, another point that ends up harming the film is the first act, which ends up getting a little dragged. Despite the bad points, Uncut Gems is a good film, with good performances and few problems. Worth your time.… Expand

How on earth is the audience reception so mixed, this is a fantastic movie. Went in to this movie pretty blind.. but I saw that the Safdie brothers made this one, and I loved Good Time, so I had pretty high expectations going in. Went in to this movie pretty blind.. but I saw that the Safdie brothers made this one, and I loved Good Time, so I had pretty high expectations going in. The film grabs your attention immediately, and by the time the opening scene and credits are over you realize you have no idea what to expect. Fantastic modern crime thriller, quirky sci-fi undertones, beautifully shot. As you would expect, it is very anxiety inducing, and the score handled by Oneohtrix Point Never helps you feel all types of ways at once. Also worth noting that whoever was on wardrobe absolutely killed it, and no I am not only talking about Sandler. Sandler and Garnett also nailed it in this one, and I really hope Sandler gives another quality performance like this again soon. It's a necessary watch and a modern crime classic. Are people watching too many Marvel movies these days or something?… Expand

His character is simultaneously such a likeable underdog but also a rude, arrogant fool. You're left facepalming after every time he catches a break only to then ruin it with stupid decisions. There are points where you need to suspend your disbelief in order to really give the film a chance to give you some payoff however, which can definitely break your immersion. The ending was brilliant, shocking and came completely out of the blue to drive home the films' message.… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Somehow, through the chaotic, turbulent, messy story of Howard Ratner, there seems to be something resembling a point. We catch it now and again, flickering throughout each stomach-turning, nauseating, utterly humiliating narrative diversion, threatening, but never moving to outright state itself. It's this idea that our moral devices may be even more ineffectual than we are capable of realizing. I mean, take, for instance, the prevailing notion that maybe Kevin Garnett isn't insane and that the stone maybe really does have protective powers. And if this stone, endowed by some higher cosmic order, really does contain some magical charm, why on Earth does is choose to protect Howard Ratner, a sleazy, cheating, good-for-nothing schmuck constitutionally incapable of good decision making? Could it be that the powers that be simply have no time for human logic and morality? Is it possible that the universe, offended by our attempts to instill our idea of order, saw Howard as some parter in chaos, misunderstood in his time by his peers? The movie doesn't answer these questions, nor do they ever even come up. The movie smartly leaves the thinking to its audience, ushering us only to serve as brief onlookers to this modern veritable retelling of Albert Camus' "The Stranger."

Adam Sandler, himself a sneering jerk-off in the eyes of critics, whose spent the better part of 20 trotting around Hollywood with a giant "Kick Me" sign, couldn't have been better picked for the role. Despite his less-than-stellar repertoire, Sandler triumphs in the film simply by playing himself, in all his obnoxious, douchey glory. And yet, the Safdie Brothers didn't simply take the easy route, for instance, by making Ratner some completely moronic toad, they went to the trouble of making him an almost sympathetically earnest, occasionally brilliant toad, just enough to make us see him through the eyes maybe only God sees us in - misguided creatures eternally bound to both sheer dumb luck and our own shortcomings. Many people in the movie attempt to intervene in Ratner's life an show him the light, be it Arno, his thuggish but ultimately good-hearted brother-in-law who's been pushed to such a point of desperation that he's turned to bullying, accosting, and terrorizing Howard into reforming, or his patient girlfriend Julia, who is both more loyal and more trusting than Howard deserves, considering all he puts her through, as goes for his hapless assistant Demany. Only his ex-wife, Dinah, and Phil, one of Arno's thugs, are impervious enough to Howard's charms to work out that he's just completely beyond saving. The former chooses to laugh in the face of his pathetic state, where the latter, realizing that both Howard and Arno and their laughable phallic conflict is simply getting in the way of his ends.

And that's how the film elects to conclude itself. Two men dead, one who completely deserved whatever came to him, and the other a flawed-but-decent man who was dumb enough to involve himself with a human anchor. And yet, what we end up taking away from all this is that one died in a panicked fit, and the other got to go out with a smile on his face, smugly assured in his hedonistic, self-interested ways.… Expand

Not going to lie - not sure how this movie got an 89 from the critics. It's an unpleasant movie, as it's pretty hard to cheer for a degenerate gambler who continues to dig himself into bigger holes. It's an unpleasant movie, as it's pretty hard to cheer for a degenerate gambler who continues to dig himself into bigger holes. Almost plays out like a PSA for gamblers anonymous. Not sure what the hype is with these Safdieh brothers, they have a tendency to rip off elements from Brian De Palma, including over the top synths/ominous music over situations that don't really deserve the degree of tension they're trying to create. The protagonist is such a victim of his own making, however, that you don't really feel much sympathy for him which in turn makes the stakes pretty low. Sandler's dynamic with his stripper mistress felt like a cliché ripoff from a lot of other movies I have seen previously. Spike Lee's, "The 25th Hour" is a much better film with similar themes, yet is much more watchable. There's one scene in particular (no spoiler) where it just oozes of Sandler angling for that GG/Oscar nomination and lacks authenticity in terms of how the film progresses. Kevin Garnett doesn't bring much in terms of humorous dialogue or real acting chops, either. There were very few laughs in my theater, as well. Critics will drink the Safdieh juice and Sandler playing a more serious character, but I predict there will be a gap in terms of how audiences respond.… Expand

Unlikable characters, poor editing, sorry guys this is not cinema, this is pretentious, chaotic in a bad way and downright offensive. Just like the last Safdie brothers movie I tried to watch GOODTIME, I had to turn this off within it's first hour. Probably the most STRESSFUL movie for my wife and I to watch in our entire adult life. Poorly written story line filled with constant yelling and swearing. Sandler was terrific, but in a role that required very little more than near-constant frenetic energy - so repetitive that I barely made it through the first hour. I hung in there because of all the rave reviews, and in the end I wished I hadn't. There's too much here that's "cool" and far too little that's actually good. Did I root for this guy? Yes, by the second hour I did. But at the end, I should've cared a lot more. The rest of the characters ranged from stereotypes to ... more stereotypes. Other than Sandler, there's little here to redeem two hours and fifteen minutes - except for this caution: Don't trust reviews, especially when it comes to opportunities for reviewers to fall all over cool directors as a way of proving how cool they are too.… Expand

I am disappointed in this movie. It's not a good movie but it has some good scenes. Kevin Garnett was surprisingly good in it playing a younger version of himself. Simply put: an acting tour de force by Adam Sandler. While the message is nothing new, the execution is poetry in motion. Why was he robbed of an academy award? Who knows and WHoTF cares! There are crippled men in every religion, culture, and ethnic group. To watch Mr. Sandler attempting to heal his character in the “7th game” is painful to watch. Still, one can’t take their eyes from the screen as he tries to manipulate one last big score to escape likely a lifetime of bad decisions. Sadly, the solution to his melancholy was brought forth by his mistress early in this dark melodrama, after being harangued by Sandler’s character: ‘Don’t you just really wanna cuddle?”… Expand

The Safdie brothers are masters of anxiety inducing filmmaking, IWatched this movie again yesterday, and this film is still a phenomenal masterpiece. I genuinely have not felt as much anxiety and stress in a movie all 2019 and 2020 (So Far). The Safdie brothers are masters of anxiety inducing filmmaking, I definitely felt their style take hold of me in their film Good Time released in 2017. But while I thought Good Time was fantastic, it still felt like an appetizer of what the Safdie brothers could do. And I’m glad to tell y’all, Uncut Gems is the main gourmet course. I’ve seen this film 4 times in the cinema, and It still never feels like a waste of my money and time. Josh & Benny Safdie bring their anxiety and stress-inducing filmmaking to another level with Uncut Gems, and craft a genuinely compelling and off the wall story, with a masterfully written screenplay. And this film is brought to life by the amazing performances of the entire cast, primarily made up of first time actors who kill it in their first film (Kevin Garnett, Julia Fox). Kevin Garnett, one of the best basketball players of the last decade is genuinely fantastic and convincing in his performance, and Julia Fox is just masterful in her first ever film performance as Howard’s mistress Julia De Fiore. Lakeith Stanfield is proving to be one of the best actors working today (even if he’s just in a minor role), he is excellent as Howard’s estranged employee Demany. But we can not talk about phenomenal performances without bringing up the centerpiece of this film.. MR. ADAM SANDLER. I’ve said it and I’ll say it again, Adam Sandler was severely snubbed for a Best Actor nomination from The Academy. Adam Sandler, who is known for his ridiculous and pretty terrible comedies, takes a break from those, and shows us when the man want to deliver a thrilling performance, he most certainly can. The way Adam in-bodies Howard Ratner, a scumbag and risk taking New York City jeweler and bet placer. Howard continuously makes bad decisions and bets, meanwhile having a family and an impending divorce with his wife Dinah Ratner. Howard also owes over 100,000 to a very violent and ruthless loan shark named Arno. Even after Howard actually places a winning bet on Kevin Garnett’s performance in the Celtics game, Arno cancels the bet and has his goons strip Howard and leaves him naked outside his child’s school, forcing his wife Dinah to retrieve him. Like I said, this film is extremely anxiety inducing, this film & it’s 2 directors want to take your nerve endings and destroy them, and then replace them with new nerve endings, so they can destroy your nerve endings again. The film’s ending is tragic, but expected. Howard finally makes a winning bet, and actually wins millions of dollars. But Phil (one of Arno’s toughest goons) kills Howard and we see Julia leaving with Howard’s millions. Which IMO, was the perfect ending to this crazy story. IMO, this is not just one of the best films of 2019, but one of the best of the entire decade and might become one of my favorite crime movies ever made. Adam Sandler’s performance is one for the ages, and I hope to see him take these amazing dramatic roles more frequently. This is 100% a must see for anybody who calls themselves a Cinephile, a nerve ending killer, with fantastic performances from the entire cast, and a decade defining screenplay and story from the Safdie brothers (Benny & Josh Safdie). Please see this film immediately, and please rent and/or buy the movie on Blu-Ray! A 10/10 from me, and I am so glad I get to be alive in a generation where cinema like this exists. The wild ride that was the plot of this film almost never let off the gas. Even when it did, there was clearly something just about to boil over the edge. Sandler played this role perfectly but really, much of his performance should be credited to the brilliant script writing here. This is a story about a sniffling, cheating, pathetic gambler and even though he shows these characteristics throughout the film, there are just enough tidbits of humanity shown to endear you to him. The camera and the score really match up well with the character in this film. The frame will often move just as frantically as Sandler, with a reverberating, pulsing, electronic score underneath such scenes - seemingly matching up with the rhythm of every step in the main character's plan passing through his head one at a time. There's much more to say, but I won't spoil. This will be on Netflix on then 31st for anyone that missed it in theaters. Check it out then.… Expand

While the picture is generally well made, it nevertheless features a story line about a self-destructive character for whom it's difficult to feel any sympathy and leaves one extremely large central question unanswered, undercutting the vehicle's basic underlying viability. What's more, the narrative closely parallels the 1974 release "The Gambler," augmented by a sense of hyper-desperation not unlike the directors' 2017 offering "Good Time," a combination that's not exactly original or particularly interesting. And then there's the much-praised performance by Adam Sandler in a dramatic role, a capable but overrated portrayal that essentially consists of little more than two hours of the actor screeching F-bombs in a manner similar to his wise-ass characters in his long strong of eminently forgettable comedies. It's the kind of film that constantly frustrates the viewer and, after a while, makes one long for the ending to come. This movie is a mess, I'm sure there was some point to opening with a colonoscopy unfortunately after 10 mins of being battered with a really incongruous 80's synth theme (odd given the time setting) skilfully mixed by 3 year old they picked up at nursery I had to give up and find something less painful to do like have my toenails pulled out.
I did however double my score just because Adam Sandler was trying to be something other then the gurning moron he has made a career out of.
Maybe I might get to see him do dramatic acting in something good but this isn't it.… Expand

What a mess. A protagonist I don't care about. Audio that was left a cluttered mess, apparently to increase anxiety. Instead, it made me **** the film off halfway through. When I can't understand the dialogue your "style choice" has become a mistake.

I am so glad I saw "Uncut Gems" as my first movie in 2002 for the following reasons:
1) I know I have seen the worst movie I will see this year

E) It will be my shortest review of the year! F) It helped me make up my mind to NOT have to go to a movie every Friday and G) I will walk out of a bad movie! Always trying to be positive I am glad to have seen Idina Menzel in a movie even though her role was negligible and being unfamiliar with Julia Fox she did make her second oldest role in movies--the other woman--noticeable. Last, but not least, I will say there is a lot of favorable talk about Adam Sandler's performance but it hasn't changed my mind about his lack of talent!… Expand

I wanted to see Bombshell, my friend didn't want to watch a movie where Megyn Kelly is a victim, so we went to Uncut Gems instead. "It's supposed to be one of the best movies of the year," my friend said. And sure enough, the reviews areI wanted to see Bombshell, my friend didn't want to watch a movie where Megyn Kelly is a victim, so we went to Uncut Gems instead. "It's supposed to be one of the best movies of the year," my friend said. And sure enough, the reviews are mostly glowing. And yet...I left the theater with a headache when it was over. As a story, it's...kind of interesting? As a character piece...it's not very interesting? And as a cinematic experience...it's mostly annoying. Sandler is absolutely believable as an idiot unable to help himself (and by help himself, I mean stop himself from making one bad decision after another). There's no character development, though, and every supporting character is just a caricature of a human being. I don't think I've ever been to a movie where every character on screen spends the majority of the time screaming and yelling at each other this much. Half the time, if somebody on screen would have just shut the hell up for a second, maybe they'd have been able to resolve the current conflict. And those conflicts just kept coming; as did the yelling. (I kind of want someone to watch this film just to count the number of "F*cks" in this movie. It's literally every other word out of Sandler's mouth; and I mean "literally" as the dictionary defines it, not how millennials use it.)
Sandler starts at 11 here (well, technically he starts the film unconscious in a doctor's office) and just stays there. There's one moment of nuance, of self-reflection by his character, where he realizes he's just one giant messed up idiot, but it lasts for about a minute, and then he goes right back to his factory default settings.
When Indina Menzel's character (she plays Sandler's wife) says something like, "I'd be happy never seeing you again," I thought, "Same." I couldn't wait for all the yelling to stop.… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. From the opening sequence and giant red herring of a first shot of our protagonist to the closing fade this movie is very much like our main man Howard, talks loudly but has no substance whatsoever.

The movie follows a jewelry dealer Howard Ratner in an exploration of his life as he continues to wreck it with his own destructive and vice-driven actions. He is constantly running afoul of people that has borrowed money from and lost when betting on various basketball games. This comes up so many times that it really drives home the point that he's running out of places to go and eventually starts doing this to his own family and with more dangerous loan sharks that start to bite back now that they realize he's not paying people back Beyond the gambling addiction and theft, we get some insight into his ruined marriage with 3 kids while he's living in an apartment with his side girl. We even get a gross scene of their sexting and cut-to-black on them having sex.
Now Howard himself is a loud-mouthed arrogant pushy con-man who can't seem to con anyone and just comes across as a parody of every terrible reality show bratt in the last decade, but without any charisma at all.

There is no sympathy for this character and no other characters to sympathize with. There is no adversity for him to overcome as it all originates from his own poor actions.

The ending even seems fitting. He gets lucky enough to win big and it just isn't big enough to matter.

Seeing other reviews of this have people talking about anxiety inducing masterpiece. I didn't feel anxious at any point and don't think I felt anything beyond disgust this entire movie. I honestly feel like I should have walked out and would have been better off having just skipped this one.… Expand

I can't believe only 2 reviewers recognized this as a horrible movie. Metacritic's user viewers are much smarter but a score of 7 doesn't begin to describe how claustrophobic and anxiety-producing and monotonous and predictable the movie is.

I was very disappointed in this film. Based on the reviews I expected something more engaging. Basically, you spend 2+ hours watching Adam Sandler's character waste his life to support his gambling addiction. I admired his performance,I was very disappointed in this film. I admired his performance, which showed that he can be a real actor, but the film itself was relentlessly depressing with only a few moments of much-needed humor. One of my friends walked out after a half hour.

And, although I am not prudish about swearing, and much of it was not gratuitous, if you deleted every line from the screenplay that had a swear-word in it, you would nearly have a silent movie. That was more than seemed necessary to me.… Expand

This film was written and directed by the Safdie Brothers, the current “next big thing” in movie-making. Their 2017 film “Good Time” with Robert Pattinson was selected to compete for the Palme d’Or, the highest prize at Cannes. Their films have been described by “Variety” as “raucously interior inner-city films” that are “contemporary, raw and untethered.”

“Uncut Gems” has been ten years in the making. It is based on family lore told by the Safdies’ father, who worked in the diamond district of New York City. The film’s central character, Howard Ratner (Adam Sandler), is a diamond merchant and compulsive gambler doing everything he can to stay one step ahead of the debt collectors. Howard imports a blood opal from Africa in the body of a fish, he makes wildly implausible bets on NBA games, he gets locked naked in the trunk of his own car while attending his daughter’s school play, he gets thrown into a fountain. After that, the action picks up. Unfortunately, it’s all just mania in search of a purpose.

While some moviegoers may experience this film as one long adrenaline rush, for me the frantic pace and too-close hand-held cameras were simply exhausting. The film offers zero character development – Howard is apparently genetically incapable of introspection, much less learning from his incessant mistakes. In fairness, there is one moment of personal insight in Act Three. Of course, this flash of self-awareness is discarded immediately. The film’s climactic scene is shocking, but completely unearned.

We all know people like Howard – people who use baseless bravado to hide their insecurity, people who are so self-absorbed they either don’t know or don’t care about the carnage they inflict on family and friends as the lurch through life. In that sense, “Uncut Gems” is an accurate slice of life. But that doesn’t make this film insightful or profound. It just adds to our trauma as we’re forced to observe the fast-moving train wreck. The dialogue is staggering in its self-indulgence. If the f-bombs were removed, the running time would be about 20 minutes. The profanity isn’t shocking or offensive, just monotonous.

My guess is that this is one of those films that is adored by professional film critics, but will generate “Huh? What?” from a lot of regular movie-goers. If that’s the case, “Uncut Gems” almost makes me believe in populism.… Expand

This movie was so bad that I needed to go to the bar after to drink away the pain. I have never seen a worse movie in my life. I am giving myself an indefinite suspension from any movie theaters because if I step in one, I will be reminded of the unhealthy horror and pain that the movie left me with. Uncut Gems, despite its almost one-eyed universal praise, is quite possibly one of the worst movies I have ever seen, or at least the worst of the year.
Its loud, obnoxious, boring, too long, poorly written, you can only feel total, absolute apathy for every character, and the ending is telegraphed within the first 10 minutes.
There's just no point in it, it was a huge waste of time. You ask if I could do better? Yes, yes I think I could.… Expand

It gave me a headache , my brain is busrting, my eyes hurt , my ears hurt... . Just don't watch this movie and if you have already seen it , just don't think about it.

I think we all have our biases towards any film with Adam Sandler's name attached to it. The reviews I read about his performance were not wrong. As enthralling as he is, I find myself liking the film far less than I expected. The movies as a whole feels rushed and underdeveloped, with a one-man show surrounded by 2-D standees being mechanically moved by the directors. And the ending, which I'll refrain from spoiling, left a lot to be desired. The story wasted a lot of potential, but to its credit, it did allow Adam Sandler to showcase the talent that many of us already knew he possessed, but didn't expect from him. Aside from him, 'Uncut Gems' is meh.… Expand

My god my ears were on the brink of exploding throughout this ridiculous film, so much screaming and the dialogue is just obnoxious and loud all the time.

I felt assaulted. Worst movie I have ever suffered through. It even hurt my ears. I wanted to leave and wish I had. Nothing redeeming here. Overhyped A24 hipster-bait. Totally annoying, meandering plot. Its pretentious style barely hides the emotionless storyline. Eccentricity pleases critics for some reason. I think they’re out of their minds.

Edgy and raw and totally lacking any kind of heart or humanity. You feel kind of bad for the guy at the end, but then they cut to the KG press conference and then to outer space none of it amounts to anything.

This movie is too much in your face. Too loud, too many obscenities, too fast, too convoluted, seemingly chaotic and messy. Yet it is done so masterfully. If you can survive the energy for the first 10-15 minutes of it, you are going to enjoyThis movie is too much in your face. If you can survive the energy for the first 10-15 minutes of it, you are going to enjoy probably the best performance by Adam Sandler who plays a bad guy so sympathetically (I am not a Sander's fan).
A disclaimer: I watched the movie at home, not in a theater. I had to stop it more than once. I am glad I did it that way. This relentless excitement is definitely not for everyone.
The protagonist Howard Ratner is a shady New York jeweller with so many sins (a liar, a cheat, a gambler, a scam, etc. etc.) yet so profoundly human, hoping to finally make it and win big.
Directing by brothers Safdie is very original.… Expand

There are moments when you cheer, as well as moments when you close your eyes in fear. Like the end of such a rollercoaster ride, the ending of this movie will leave you winded. Undoubtedly, the main highlight of the movie is Adam Sandler's scintillating performance as the troubled jeweller. Chaos best describes the movie. The beginning is weak, it's just too fast. Once you've picked up the thread, things run better and the chaos is easier to understand.

No idea why this has so much critical acclaim. It is a mess of a film. Yes Adam Sandler is good in a 'straight' role. The acting is solid, the settings feel real. Super slow paced, most of the movie is Adam Sandler yelling like Bernie Sanders, maybe a few good scenes. It’s a lot of setup for no pay off.

Quality!

'Uncut Gems' is an absolutely thoroughly thrilling watch, the plot is so chaotic and high paced that it's practically impossible to not have a fun time with it. The cast do terrific work, typified by the tremendous Adam Sandler.Quality!

'Uncut Gems' is an absolutely thoroughly thrilling watch, the plot is so chaotic and high paced that it's practically impossible to not have a fun time with it. The cast do terrific work, typified by the tremendous Adam Sandler.

Sandler (Howard) is unquestionably the star of the film, he gets a lot of stick for a lot of the roles he usually plays but this is far from anything I've seen him portray. He still shows his funny side no doubt, but he adds much more to make it a memorable character - which is a rarity for him.

Lakeith Stanfield, Julia Fox, Kevin Garnett and Eric Bogosian are all good too. The score is pretty solid, also. There isn't much more to note really, it's a crime thriller and it absolutely nails that realm. Great film.… Expand

A beautifully cinematic film that sadly is only able to engage in its final act. I only felt the tension during the final game as we watch on through the lens of the protagonist - which is fantastically performed by Adam Sandler. a 2hr anxiety attack this movie is amazing had great writing and very sad but very realistic end cause thats what happens when you are deep into your gambling addiction. recommend this movie anyday
