I think the story is amazing. It is my favourite movie. It is thrilling, the battles are really good. I think the movie is as good as the other Transformers. The villain is very charismatic.

In conclusion, watch it if you only want to witness 3D, robots, attractive chicks, and explosions. If you watch movies to see a good tale with developing characters and to get some cinematic value. This is nothing new.

Transformers: Dark Of The Moon takes more than a step to finally able to become again another watchable Blockbuster extravaganza after the utterly boring and horrible Revenge Of The Fallen, the movie opens with these amazing real 1969 moon landing sequence with the twist of the Cybertronian has a classified part in the mission, that i think despite the fiction part Michael Bay should do a movie about it because he executed very well, and after that we're back on the track with Sam Witwicky played again betterly by Shia LaBeouf and his new chick which i think not only she is pretty and hot, she can also act better than Megan Fox, and this whole new story up from the beginning until before the last 15 minutes build up for the last battle was better than the first Transformers and i really enjoyed it and i really really like it, after that it dragged down a bit until the long final battle sequence which i still think a bit too long but the most important thing is it's not bad or super boring like the previous one, it has it's exciting and impressive moments in it and i still enjoyed it for the most part, the special and visual effects are incredible, Transformers: Dark Of The Moon has an enjoyable good story for the most part, a better performance, but a bit too long last final battle, and story dragged a bit near the end but overall it's still pretty good and i still like it, oh, and there is so much less cheesy moments in this one too which is good.… Expand

The second part was much weaker for me, and the third part was unfortunately even worse. I thought Sam's storyline was boring. The absence of Megan Fox doesn't help either. I'd say a lot more explosions compared to the previous installments. In short, the film doesn't let you breathe from a certain point on and when you want it to, it's over. I mean, compared to the previous films, which concluded the plot nicely, the ending here didn't seem to me to be very good, I would even say a little bit cut off, as if there was still something missing. What to add. An action movie with a capital A without a deeper plot. If you're looking for explosions at every corner, you probably won't go wrong. For others, I'd rather not recommend it and give another action spectacle with a better story a chance. For me, an above average film.… Expand

Transformers Dark of the Moon: Now this is much better. First off yes this one is a better movie than the last because more action, most of the comedy sticks and because all the humans are awesome in it too. First off yes this one is a better movie than the last because more action, most of the comedy sticks and because all the humans are awesome in it too. Shia is still here and he probably does one of his best performances in these movies, but Megan Fox is gone but she is replaced by another hot girl don’t know her name don’t care she is hoooooooooooot. Peter Cullen is still Optimus Prime and he does more stuff in this. The final battle is one of those scenes that is so awesome to watch because of how **** and utterly badass the whole thing is for real Prime is taking on multiple threats with one arm and kills Megatron. Once again the movie uses practical explosions which is amazing, the stunt work is also really cool but sometimes doesn’t make since because some humans look like they get smacked so hard by the Transformers they go flying and then get back up like nothing happens like for real. The cinematography is still really good but the shaky cam is still very bad to look at. But overall this is so much better watch it, the movie is on Hulu.… Expand

And the political correctness...again: us military propaganda and feminist scenes. The first movie was the best, because Steven Spielberg helped, now it is only Michael Bay.
There are some more good things in the movie: the bad humour from the 2nd part is gone. And the store about the moon landing is funny.… Expand

I often heard a lot about the Transformers movies and how they went from bad to worse. But I never understood how a franchise that's making so cool trailers can possibly be bad. I had even watched the first two movies and liked them more thanI often heard a lot about the Transformers movies and how they went from bad to worse. But I never understood how a franchise that's making so cool trailers can possibly be bad. I had even watched the first two movies and liked them more than the average ratings. Dark of the Moon, however, answered my question. Little did we know that this was the part where the eventual downfall of the franchise will begin. And trust me when I say this, I really wanted to like this movie. Only if the pesky humans gave me a chance to do so.
The movie, once again, starts with Autobots saving the world from Decepticons. But then one of them gets caught by the bad guys. To be honest this, THIS is the very problem of the movie. We have come to watch Transformers for the big CGI fights, not to see the conflicts of humans and robots. Because I believe I'm speaking on behalf of all the people when I say this, but if there's ever a conflict between humans and Autobots, we will any day prefer the Autobots, even if they are wrong.
The CGI of this movie is amazing. This is one thing Michael Bay is really good at (other than the explosions of course). I really like to watch the Transformers turn into sports cars and drive across long distances all the while fighting the Decepticons. The thing is, however, it's literally the only reason why I watch Michael Bay's Transformers movies. I don't watch it to see how Sam enters the gents restroom and someone else who comes in thinks he's in a cubicle having sex with another man. Nor am I interested in seeing Sam's parents trying to be funny because let's get real, they're not.
The acting of this movie is also terrible. Though I'd give it some extra points for completing Sam's arc, I'd also deduct some points for not showing Mikaela. She was the only human character I was interested in looking at ^_^. Even the Transformers act in a very campy manner. The villain of this movie looks like a discount version of The Fallen. And as usual the fight later shifts to Optimus Prime and Megatron, making the villain, once again, completely useless.
There's not a single thing for which I'd want to rewatch this movie. It only stands among a sloppy series, plus it's the part where the franchise starts failing until Bumblebee came to rescue, so there's absolutely no reason to watch it. It's so forgettable I had to watch Honest Trailers and Cinemasins just to remember what happened in it. And even then I couldn't remember half the things.… Expand

I remember the toys and the memories I had with others. I still enjoy the other films, but this is one that stands out the most and I will never forget it. It astounds me much more that it is one of the highest-grossing films of all time, with making almost 1.2 billion dollars in the box office despite a "low" budget of 195 million dollars. I had no idea what to expect after Revenge of the Fallen, but this caught me completely off guard. Everything in Dark of the Moon is out of this world, the characters, the musical score, the story, the mystery, the action, the intensity, everything compelled me. You need to see this movie and when you do you'll find out something that you definitely never saw coming, I know I never did.… Expand

A surefire improvement in terms of being a film than its awful predecessor. "Dark of the Moon" has lots of action, most of it entertaining. Some of it stupid, though the plot and storytelling still being the film's struggling point till the 3rd act.

Major Improvement Over 2
Dark Of The Moon still has a fairly sloppy script and some stupid moments here and there, But it is a HUGE improvement over Revenge Of The Fallen with a F*CKING AMAZING 3rd act.

One of my guilty pleasure movies. The first 15 minutes or so was actually pretty good. Then it quickly squandered the visually interesting and narratively promising set up and descended into one of the worst films I have ever seen, along with the second movie.

The human characters are at best lifeless and two-dimensional with no emotional progression, at worst bizarre and unintelligible, behaving like no human I have ever seen (due to both the actors and the script); the robot dialogue is equally bad, and the side characters which are supposed to be funny are just plain cringing.

The story is appalling, failing to meet basic dramatic criteria; a smart child really could do much better. There's a romantic subplot wedged in which is completely ham-fisted, undeveloped and pointless. Other attempts at subplots like the main guy trying to fit into society and find a purpose are set up then abandoned. Characters act in absolutely ridiculous ways with no sensible explanation (the good robots pretend to leave the planet in a rocket for no well defined reason and then do nothing whilst the bad robots destroy cities, just to allow the terrible cliche of them returning when all hope is gone; the leader of the good robots joins the bad ones and doesn't bother explaining why in any coherent fashion), and the whole thing doesn't make sense at all, with the first part focused on a MacGuffin which apparently plays no further role in the story, and the last hour motivated by the bad robots deciding that what a hyper technologically advanced race really needs is humans as animals for slave labour. And then... killing as many humans as they can? It really is that bad.

I understand that this is an action film, but that doesn't excuse the total laziness and incompetence of all other aspects; action films can be good as films too. As for the action itself, if you've seen the previous movie, you've seen this one. With the exception of one original scene involving a tilting skyscraper which wasn't really used to full potential and was pretty much ruined by frustration at everybody apparently forgetting the purpose for which they climbed it in the first place, this is 3 more hours of robots and explosions. If you're under 15 then it kind of makes sense that this might appeal to you. Otherwise... well, have fun?… Expand

This film is a definite improvement over the 2009 disaster ROTF. The plot is coherent, there isn't as much bad humour, and Sam's parents aren't in it that much. And the film actually is kind of... I was unfortunate enough to watch Transformers: Dark of the Moon. It is a muddled, baffling affair that demonstrates just how poor Michael Bay's idiotic series is.

A cinematic travesty of the lowest order. The CGI is extensive but it's shot so horribly that calling it impressive would be a gigantic stretch. Like the first installment, Transformers: Dark of the Moon is a perfectly functional blockbuster. I liked the first two a lot, but this one wasn't great. The story was weaker than the rest, the whole first hour wasn't good. The CGI and acting were great, as always. Worth a watch for the cgi but even still, you may as well just skip to the second half because the first is just boring character development which no one cares about because your here for the Transformers. While it is more watchable than revenge of the fallen, it still has some of the same problems. While the transformers do get more screen time than revenge of the fallen, it's not enough to make it more compelling. The human side of the story is just as dull as the other two, but somewhat better. Once again the special effects are pretty good, and the final act of the movie has an action packed end to it. Even though I don't care about the characters, I still enjoyed watching the final battle in Chicago.The humor in this movie is toned down a bit, but when it shows up, it attempts the same jokes as the other two movies, which isn't good. Overall, while it is better than revenge of the fallen, the story, characters, and overall structure of the film doesn't work, and I wouldn't really recommend it.… Expand

I must be in the minority here, but I personally found "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" to be the worst of the first three Michael Bay "Transformers" films. Sure, it's visually brilliant and has some pretty great music, but all thingsI must be in the minority here, but I personally found "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" to be the worst of the first three Michael Bay "Transformers" films. Sure, it's visually brilliant and has some pretty great music, but all things considered, the film is pretty poorly-written, awfully acted, overly long, and worst of all, BORING! "Dark of the Moon" actually threatened to bore me to sleep. A movie about giant, fighting robots shouldn't make me want to fall asleep. All in all, "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" is not a very fun ride, and unless you're a hardcore "Transformers" fan that enjoyed the previous two films, you won't find much to like here.… Expand

A great improvement to Revenge of the Fallen, the first half will make you, ehhh, its okay, but on the second half is where it becomes real. If you want robots kick ass this movie will serve just fine.

This movie was non-stop fun! The action was epic, the characters were not annoying like they were in the 2nd film, and although it's a long movie, it does not feel like a long movie!

So what's the excuse this time?In the wake of widespread criticism of the second live action Transformers movie, Revenge of the Fallen, director Michael Bay admitted dissatisfaction with the screenplay and blamed it on the writers' strike. So what's the excuse this time? If anything, the script for Transformers: Dark of the Moon is worse than that of its predecessor. In the future, maybe Bay should abandon using a screenwriter altogether and just fill up 90 minutes with disconnected images of robo-carnage. That would serve two purposes: eliminate the need to watch actors embarrass themselves trying to outshine the hardware and elide excruciating dialogue, exposition, and "character development," all of which are inferior to what one finds in the average Pink Panther cartoon.

Bay makes the Transformers movies for 14-year old boys. I suspect he's one at heart, which gives him insight into the mindset of his target audience. I remember what it was like to be a 14-year old boy but I'm not sure I would have been more enamored with this movie at that age than I am today. Maybe it would have struck a chord when I was eight. That's when I watched Japanese monster movies which, technological advances in special effects aside, are not all that different from Transformers. In those movies, men in rubber suits pounded on each other. In Transformers and its sequels, CGI robots wreak the same kind of mayhem as Godzilla and friends. The average Japanese monster movie didn't have much of a plot either (aside from the obvious - stomp Tokyo), but it managed to get the job done with about an hour's less screen time.

It's pointless criticizing the action/destruction sequences in Transformers 3. Those are the "money shots" of this strain of cataclysm porn. People pay for extreme special effects. They want to see these Rockem-Sockem robots mash each other into the ground while Shia LaBeouf yells loudly in the hope that a big voice will compensate for his small stature (at least compared to the Transformers). In the biggest battles, I had some trouble figuring out the difference between the good guys (Autobots) and the bad guys (Decepticons), largely because (a) I'm not a Transformers fan (so the nuances escape me), and (b) things were moving a bit too fast. Aficionados will no doubt chortle at my ignorance. As a lapsed Trekkie (maybe not so lapsed, after all), I can provide a catalogue of the Star Trek references in Transformers 3: a clip from "Amok Time", a mention of the Enterprise, and the biggest of all - Leonard Nimoy (providing the voice of Sentinal Prime) delivering this gem: "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few." I'd love to know who was responsible for that: Bay, screenwriter Ehren Kruger, or Nimoy.

The story, which requires more than a "willing suspension of disbelief" to swallow (an infusion of a mind-altering substance would be a good start), begins in the 1960s when men travel to the moon to investigate a crashed Transformers space ship. 40-plus years later, Optimus Prime (voice of Peter Cullen), having belatedly learned of this discovery, takes a salvage team to our nearest celestial neighbor. They return with the dormant remains of Sentinel Prime (Nimoy), who is resurrected by Optimus. Sentinel is the inventor of the Transformers' greatest weapon, which can be used to help or destroy humanity. The Autobots champion the former, but the Decepticons, led by a crippled Megatron (Hugo Weaving), have other plans. Old friends, like Sam, Lennox (Josh Duhamel), and Simmons (John Turturro), are joined by new ones, like Mearing (Frances McDormand) and Brazos (John Malkovich), to provide a human face to the resistance movement against the Decepticons as the evil metal creatures use Chicago as their base for an all-out assault on the planet.

The words "been there, done that" apply. Transformers 3 is not substantially better or worse than Transformers or Transformers 2 because it's more of the same. There are battles. Things blow up. Human actors give inferior performances to machines. An attractive woman is unabashedly presented as a sex object. More things blow up. A city is leveled, with the destruction lovingly crafted and presented. And, in the end, it comes to a smashdown between Optimus Prime and Megatron, but we wouldn't have it any other way.

Transformers 3 is unlikely to change any minds regarding the franchise. The brilliantly cut trailer makes it look like this might be the first entry into the series to tell a compelling story, but that hope is dispelled fairly early in the proceedings. It should be remembered that Bay's movies, with their high energy action sequences and top-of-the-line special effects, always translate into good trailers and TV commercials.… Expand

Michael Bay is Homer Simpson. Not superficially, of course – he has a gorgeous head of lovely, flowing hair, and he’s not yellow. But when it comes to avoiding the same mistakes that beset 2009’s Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen for this third (and final?) instalment of his toy-based blockbuster trilogy, he hasn’t learned a thing.

OK, admittedly the alarmingly racist robots, Skids and Mudflap, are gone, and there are no disconcerting close-ups of giant robot balls. But that still doesn’t prevent what remains from being, well, giant robot balls.

Exposition scenes are still choppy as hell, the writing is lazy, the plot turns brazen and in bad taste (Chernobyl was caused by Decepticons) the film is overloaded with a cavalcade of superfluous supporting players (look! It’s Josh Duhamel as Captain Wotsit! Huzzah! Here comes Tyrese Gibson as Thingummy!), and there’s an oafish insistence on cheap-seats comedy relief that leaves actors like John Malkovich (as Sam’s scary new boss), Alan Tudyk (as John Turturro’s fey personal assistant) and Ken Jeong (running through his tired old schtick one more time) desperately mugging. It does lead, though, to the year’s most welcome death scene.

That’s the bad news. The good news is that Dark Of The Moon is better than Revenge Of The Fallen. But not by much.

That upturn is testament to its last 45 minutes, in which Bay drops the Homer impression and does his best stab at Michael Bay. For, when all’s said and done, not many directors can handle large-scale action like he can, and the climactic Bayhem, in which the Decepticons occupy Chicago and transform (ten points!) it into a smoking ruin, is stunning. Price-of-admission-alone stunning, as teams of winged base-jumpers dive out of planes and plummet past skyscrapers; those same buildings lurch to 90-degrees in a series of vertiginous shots that will have you clutching your chair (the 3D, probably the best deployment of the form since Avatar, helps here); and giant robots, of course, kick the living oil out of each other.

For a movie squarely aimed at teens, it’s extraordinarily violent. Humans are reduced to smoking skeletons by alien attacks, but the likes of Optimus Prime (when he’s not giving sanctimonious speeches, Jerry Springer-style) and Megatron (almost completely wasted) save the toughest treatment for themselves. Heads are lopped off, spinal columns are ripped out, and several are executed with shotgun blasts to the head, gangland-style, in a manner that suggests that this is the final instalment, at least for a while. If this action were human-on-human, we’d have the next Human Centipede 2 on our hands. Best not show this to your Roomba, though – it’ll be traumatized.

The first Transformers has its flaws, but it did have its charms. LaBeouf’s Sam Witwicky was an intriguing hero, like Woody Allen was parachuted into an action flick. Dark Of The Moon is mostly charmless, however – for the first (surprisingly action-lite, slow-moving) hour, Sam is a moaning, presumptuous brat whose relationship with his new girlfriend (Huntington-Whiteley) is so shabbily-defined that it’s hard to sympathise with him. A boy getting his first car is relatable; a young man throwing a tantrum because his impossibly hot girlfriend has a hotter boss is not.

As for Huntington-Whiteley, the much-trumpeted replacement for Megan Fox (dismissed with an amusing, “She was a **** We didn’t like her.”), Bay introduces her with a self-parodying shot of her barely-clad bottom and it’s all downhill from there. You’ll believe a robot can fly, but you won’t believe a Huntington-Whiteley can talk.

An improvement on Transformers 2, but then what isnt? To paraphrase the Bard, its a tale, full of sound and fury and extremely stupid dialogue and nonsensical plotting and preposterous stunts and robots punching each others heads off, signifying nothing!… Expand

I was going to give this film a 5, but then I realised they got rid of Megan Fox. Dark of the moon is a mostly boring film with way to much government conspiracy dialogue and poor characterization and takes quite a while to finally get to the action which is admittedly awesome but that does not save the res of the film.

The film is long, bloated, obnoxious, annoying and damn right bland. Shia LaBeouf returns as the main "hero" Sam Witwicky, and this time he has a new girlfriend, Carly, who is played by British model, Rosie Hungington Whitley...that's right, Model, not actress. This just goes to show that director Michael Bay only cares for young, attractive women who have to look good instead of act good. The problem is that these two actors have no chemistry whatsoever.

A girl who seems unrealistically calm like Carly, what is she doing sticking around with someone who is loud and not-so-courageous like Sam? I'll tell you why...because the screenplay says so.

There are some really tasteless and unfunny moments that involve Ken Jeong, such as the scene where he takes Shia LaBeouf's character to a workplace bathroom and constantly says "Deep Wang" numerous times. Does Michael Bay honestly think this is funny? This is supposed to be an action film not a comedy film, then again, if it was a comedy film, it isn't very funny.

Humor in action films are supposed to be subtle and occur when the film gets a little too serious, but I honestly cannot remember a single actor taking any of these events seriously.

'Transformers: Dark of the Moon' is worse than "Revenge of the Fallen", after watching the film for about an hour and a half, I was already done, but clearly Michael Bay hadn't finished yet and he had to rinse the film for another hour too long.… Expand

They return with the dormant remains of Sentinel Prime (Nimoy), who is resurrected by Optimus. Sentinel is the inventor of the Transformers' greatest weapon, which can be used to help or destroy humanity. The Autobots champion the former, but the Decepticons, led by a crippled Megatron (Hugo Weaving), have other plans. Old friends, like Sam, Lennox (Josh Duhamel), and Simmons (John Turturro), are joined by new ones, like Mearing (Frances McDormand) and Brazos (John Malkovich), to provide a human face to the resistance movement against the Decepticons as the evil metal creatures use Chicago as their base for an all-out assault on the planet.

Bay's flip-flopping on the issue of 3-D has led to widespread speculation about how effectively it is used in Transformers 3. After initially voicing opposition to it, he changed his position after discussions with James Cameron. Transformers 3 employs a mixture of native 3-D and post-production conversion. To his credit, Bay has avoided many of the common missteps, including the most pervasive (murky, muddy images), but there is still motion blur during intense action sequences. The most curious thing about the 3-D, however, is how innocuous it is. In many scenes, the 3-D approach does a remarkably good job imitating 2-D. People wearing the glasses are apt to forget that Transformers 3 is in 3-D not because they're immersed but because the 3-D is so flat and unremarkable. That's more than a little disappointing because the closer a Transformers film can come to an amusement park ride, the better.

Transformers 3 is like Transformers and Transformers 2 only bigger, longer, and louder. It's up to each individual to determine whether that holds appeal or is another cause to bemoan what the summer blockbuster has become.… Expand

Bay certainly used his profitable formula once more to create a movie that is quite possibly too long and to shallow, but certainly better then it's predecessor. It offered a lot within the technical scope, certainly elevating the first to movies and the plot was much more interesting than earlier, albeit not missing some WTF moments. Everything else - pale, shallow and typically 'Bayesque'. Also, the casting of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley as Megan Fox's successor was the biggest flop of the franchise. Sure, Megan was horrible and we wanted her out, but the blond bimbo was such a step downwards that we actually wanted Megan back - yup, she was that horrible!

With a more interesting plot and a great set of technical achievements, combined with some very well picked cast members (Turturro, Malkovich), 'Dark Side of the Moon' offers more than it's predecessor, but still much less than the first movie and it is, essentially, an overly long action-packed movie with giant robots that trash everything around them. Something for the fans, but certainly not a first-time.

A jumbled mess of a movie. I feel like I have been in Michael Bay's head for 2 and a half hours and he is crazier than a bag full of cats. Nothing in this movie works and it's the worst of the Transformer series. Again, a jumbled mess of a movie.

Sam does a lot of running and calling for Bumblebee. His girlfriend, Carly, played by Rosie Huntington-Whitely, is a replacement for Megan Fox's character, after Fox was fired from the set due to a dispute with Steven Spielberg, who surprisingly signed on as executive producer. I wish I had not spent the money to see this in theaters when it came out. The CGI work is very impressive, but that doesn't make up for the seven bucks wasted.… Expand

The one word to describe this movie disappointing I didn't really have high hopes because I was let down with revenge of the fallen I at least expected a decent action movie though I thought to myself hopefully I will at least get to see aThe one word to describe this movie disappointing I didn't really have high hopes because I was let down with revenge of the fallen I at least expected a decent action movie though I thought to myself hopefully I will at least get to see a lot of giant robots fighting NOPE most of the time its humans surviving an attack from the decepticons there are two small scenes at the beginning and at the end where there are actual transformers fighting transformers the rest is like Jurassic park just replace the dinosaurs with robots and you've got this movie and deduct the greatness that is Jurassic park and what makes this worse is that the characters aren't really likeable either there is pretty much zero character to the main characters girlfriend she is pretty much there just for the audience to look at and I'm being serious its like Michael bay hoped she would be a bandaid for a really bad movie because I swear she has more screen time than the main actor and if you Google to see the cast for this movie she is the first actor listed even though she isn't supposed to be the main star after this review I'm gonna give this movie 2 out of 10 because of the first and last action scenes.… Expand
