I mean I have to say the truth I actually like some of Bays films, I loved the Rock, I really liked both Bad Boys, Armagedon was not that great but still enjoyable, and the first Transformers was really fun I even liked Pain and Gain. This one is not on the list, This movie is pretty dumb, the dialouge is pretty cheesy and some of the acting is not good at all. I will say Mark Wahleberg did pretty well in the movie, I actually liked him more then Shia Lebouf , Stanley Tucci was hilarious and mad the movie more fun. Kellsy Grammar was the best actor in the whole movie and he played a pretty good villian, and I even like Titus Welliver as James Savoy the supporting villain along side Kellsy Grammar. That's all was good about the movie, I mean some of the action in the end is okay but its still not a great movie. I mean the Visual effects and set pieces are still cool but, in the end its just another explosion filled Michael Bay Film that may entertain audience members, but for me not really. Expand

So I as an audience would rate the movie quite good although I did miss the clear story line of the first part. But when you are watching sequels of a movie series, you need to understand that there will be changes. So rather than comparing it with its previous parts, it is better to view it as a separate movie. Yes! One do need to maintain the connection between all its parts and Age of Extinction does that. It is clear that after Sentinel Prime tried to rebuild Cybertron with his portal, there was outrage, and the hostility against the Transformers are well understood.
I guess common movie fanatics like me didn't like it because half of the Autobots were wiped out and Ratchet's encounter was surely painful. I did not miss Sam though. I mean I did miss him but it was mostly because of Bumblebee. But we have evil Lockdown and rebuilding of Galvatron was totally cool.

The only disappointing thing for me in this part was merging up of plots. I found it pretty hard to keep up with everything. In the previous series, there was Colonel Lennox, Sam and Transformers but this part seems to have the story all mixed up. First, a robotic engineer finds Optimus, then there is CIA, then there is Lockdown trying to capture Optimus. Oh and not to forget, we have the KSI and its chief running away with the seed. Well, wise people rightly say that too many cooks spoil the broth. That's what happened in Transformers 4, too much story spoiled the movie.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. One of my favourite transformers movies. It does a lot of things right that the other films get wrong. Most of the transformers are shown to have actual characters, instead of just being walking car advertisements. Drift, Crosshairs and Hound all have fleshed out characters, and get plenty of screen time, unlike the secondary Autobots in previous films. Likewise, Lockdown is one of my favourite villains from the franchise.
Unlike the previous films, I really like the humour of this film. There aren't any scenes that are so cringe I want to skip through them. Likewise, I really prefer Cade Yeager to Sam Witwicky. Shia LaBeouf was just awkward to watch.
I guess my only criticism of the film is that the stakes are quite low. Like if Galvatron got the seed, it wasn't like the world would end. He'd destroy Hong Kong and have a new army, which is where we were at half way through DOTM.

But the characters are boring again, the story is just ok and superficial. Michael Bay dont know how to tell stories, only how to destroy things. So yes, the movie is too long.

A dull, cut-and-paste story with atrocious dialogue and terrible performances make this an absolute slog to sit through. Worst of all, the action actually manages to be pretty boring. It doesn't feel like Michael Bay was having any fun constructing the set pieces this time. Yet, the movie is somehow almost three hours long. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Literally one of the worst movies of all time. Action is the only thing this movie has going for. If you want characters you empathize with, a decent plot, and correct geographical depictions, this is the movie to avoid. Hong Kong does not just border onto forest. Mark Wahlberg should just stick to comedy as this may be his most unconvincing performance yet. What a waste of my time. Expand

It looks like a student project aiming to show CGI skills with worthless characters, so ungodly stupid that you actually wonder if they are not mentally impaired by design. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

I had recently watched the first three movies of this franchise and I really liked the whole concept of Transformers; just seeing them doLooking at the poster and trailer of this movie I was thinking this might be something really good. I had recently watched the first three movies of this franchise and I really liked the whole concept of Transformers; just seeing them do something on the big screen is enough to get my attention. So when I heard that this is the worst movie of the franchise, the robot dinosaur poster refused to let me believe that. How can a movie with such a good CGI possibly be bad? And when I watched it... I now apologise to all those people I didn't trust. I'm really sorry.
The problem with this movie is that it has humans. I know, Transformers are all about Autobots and humans interacting and coming together to beat Decepticons, but the humans in this movie are terrible. I forgave Dark of the Moon since it was Sam Witwicky, the same guy we had previously seen in two prequels. But this time, it's the new guy. I don't even remember his name, so let's just call him Mark Wahlberg. Mark is such a two dimensional character. He loves mechanical engineering and hates anyone approaching his daughter. Yes, that's his entire personality.
So when Optimus Prime ends up coming to his lab, they bond together. The premise of this movie is all wrong. The Autobots are now considered criminal in this world because of the destruction that happened in the previous movie. Like, what? Dude, even the army was doing destruction in the previous movie if that's supposed to be a real reason. Also everyone saw the Autobots fight the Decepticons in the epic climax moment. And it's not like there's some communication gap between the Autobots and the humans, since Optimus Prime literally lived with the military. So if there's any problem at all, they can just talk about it.
So anyway Optimus helps Mark, his daughter and her boyfriend escape from there, and they team up with Hound and some other Transformers (I don't even remember the names at this point, because they don't give a reason to do so). Together they go to The Lost World where Optimus fights the robot T-Rex for which I watched this movie in the first place. First of all, the T-Rex is like, five times bigger than Optimus Prime. For comparison, just try fighting an elephant with your bare hands (except that elephants are herbivores and won't attack you unprovoked). And after the beating that T-Rex becomes friends with Optimus because it's a Michael Bay movie.
So then there's the epic showdown battle between Mark and some bad guys. I was doing my college project on my laptop and this movie was running on my phone's Prime Video, so I used to only look at the movie whenever something interesting would be happening, otherwise I'd just keep doing my work. I don't think I looked at the screen more than 3-4 times throughout the work. This is the reason why I can guarantee you that it's a boring movie. I don't remember most of it.
Transformers: Age of Extinction is the movie that taught me that Transformers could be bad too. Earlier I used to see Screen Rant articles which said that after a time the movies went repetitive with the CGI fighting and explosions, so I didn't understand what's bad about it since that's literally what I watch them for. But it turns out the reason why I hate it is the other way round. The big, cool robots have now turned into parodies of themselves and the humans are no longer even close to being interesting. I'd say if you haven't begun watching this franchise, just watch the first three and then jump straight to Bumblebee. That would save a lot of time and inner peace.

The absence of Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox also brought the film down rapidly for me. The action was good, but it didn't hold a candle to the previous installment, which was really phenomenal as far as action scenes go. The soundtrack was also significantly weaker compared to the previous films. For me, an absolute waste. I think they should have just kept the first part and not made it a series, and if they did, they should have ended it with a third part. For me, this was a mediocre film that I don't recommend. Only to the really big fans of the saga. Expand

Not bad for those who watch with an open mind. The plot is complex but well explained, and comes out of the "most of the same" of all transformers films.

Oh my god! I absolutely hate this movie! It’s my 2nd worst transformers movie ever! It’s so horrible! I like all the characters except the villains! The first transformers movie and bumblebee (2018) is better

But, in true Transformers fashion, it has its share of hilarious moments. It has great action sequences, heartwarming and truly epic moments, as well as some fresh new faces. No matter how much I shall miss the old, like much in this movie, times change, just like much in this movie. I like how they started exploring the history in this film, I feel like it adds to the story. I also like the new characters, they feel realistic. There is the father and new protagonist, Cade Yeager, who is trying to support his family, his daughter who is worried about both her father and her future, as well as having some fun, and her fun carefree man, who can be just as serious. The new Transformers are fun as well, whether it be the snarky Crosshairs, the serious Drift, or the violence loving Hound. This movie is a new start, and a good one at that. It, like the others, is underappreciated. I adore this film, and I hope that others will appreciate it as much as I do, as it is a masterpiece of its own type. Expand

The people from the first 3 gone we got a new cast. First Mark Wahlberg I hear so many people **** on him but I really like his character he is a dad that is protective for his daughter. The other is the hot girl, other hot male actor and the comic relief in the form of TJ Miller. Again cinematography great all the camera angles are awesome but the real highlight is the CGI touch ups. From the explosions to the Transformers them self’s look awesome. Once again The Transformers are the standout Prime and Bumblebee still kicking ass but we got new ones my new favorite Hound voiced by John Goodman he is really cool I don’t know why but I really like him from either the guns or just the line delivery, Drift is the samurai dude he’s cool I guess and the other one he’s good too. My friend would kill me if I didn’t mentioned the Dinobots. So Grimlock is the only one that matters he’s the T-Rex and yeah he’s ducking sweet the stuff he and Prime do make for one hell of a team up. Watch this one there is more action in this movie then the other ones it’s available on Hulu now. Expand

Can't figure out if Age Of Extinction is better or worse than The Last Knight. The plot makes no sense and is boring as hell. And for a movie with the word "Transformers" in the name, it focuses on the humans way too much.

Damn the action in this movie is so good, the new transformers are great and there are many cool set-pieces. Unfortunately though, there's a lot of wasted potential, specifically the first half, it takes a while for it to get decent.
