Tomorrowland is not bad but it is just didn't live up to my or our expectations.It is an adventure movie.The movie is all about the journey not the destination that we saw in the trailer and I think it is okay but I am not interested.The movie has a lot of effort,It is a beautiful film and George Clooney did his best to be the character that he signed up for The Characters are good but the plot is just so predictable and it is also bland.… Expand

Very interesting film containing serious story line, a bit of humor and elements of love story. Actors' play is very good and actors look very naturally in their roles too. Has few interesting easter eggs such as one about Fallout series.

This had a good trailer and a great premise, and we're given practically nothing that was promised to us. Tomorrowland is focused on a teenage girl who receives a mysterious pin that, when touched, will bring her to a futuristic utopia where nothing is impossible. It would have been nice if the movie was ACTUALLY about that. Instead, the girl, Casey, is only there for about the last 10 minutes of the film. What this movie is really about is saving the world from the apocalypse which is caused by, and I'm not joking, pessimism. Just from that, you can tell this is gonna be one preachy movie. I do wanna say that the acting is top-notch, the special effects are beautiful, and it is an overall entertaining movie. The message of optimism is a great one, but after about 20 minutes, it becomes aggravating how much the movie has to hammer that theme in. That's really Tomorrowland's biggest problem: the movie is more concerned with telling us to "just be optimistic" as opposed to telling a cohesive and intelligent story. Many plot points are introduced and completely forgotten by the next scene, and there are many instances where the story will just rush past a potentially important event just so that the characters can tell us even more about optimism and the future of the world. I really don't understand why the trailers seemed like they were trying to hide some big plot element. What they were actually hiding from us was that this movie isn't very good.… Expand

Since I had a good time at the movie, and my kids loved it, I was curious about why so many people hated the movie so very much.

After reading through the negative reviews, I can summarize them with two quotes picked from them "I hate George Clooney" and "This was pure liberal Hollywood claptrap at its worst." Pretty much all the objections ran along one or both those lines—now you don't have to read all those red reviews.

Now if you don't hate George Clooney so much you can't stand to see him take another breath, or if you don't get all your science education from Fox News, then you might enjoy this movie—that is, if your soul hasn't already died…… Expand

So I just seen Tomorrowland and I got to say that I'm a bit disappointed, but judging it on a visual experience the movie was pretty decent. I had high expectations going in and why wouldn't I be the the first teaser trailer really hooked me in with it's magically new world and the films storytelling. Now I don't think this is a bad, I was just a bit let down and I know there's probably going to be some people out there that are trying to confidence me that this is brilliant movie just like what some people did when I said Chappie was the biggest let of the year and it still is.

Brad Bird turned down Star Wars Episode 7 to do this movie and straight away I though that this movie was going to be great, because Brad Bird is a great director and he made the best Mission Impossible movie to date. And in this movie Brad Bird does get all of his creative vision out on the screen and Tomorrowland looks absolutely stunning to watch. Brad did what he can for what he had to work on and at least this is a original story and Brad Bird took a huge risk by saying no to Star Wars just because he wanted to do a original story. Nicely done Brad.

George Clooney was the only thing worth watching in this movie, because he did good in the movie and his character was the only interesting thing in the whole movie. This time he wasn't just playing the George Clooney, he actually played a character this time and a interesting one.

The visual effect's in the movie worked perfectly in a way to show this future place known as Tomorrowland and it's nothing like Avatar where every single thing is CG and you feel that Avatar creative ideas came from better well done movies, so Avatar is a underrated copy cat of a film, at least in Tomorrowland it creates it's own original environment and made it look like a place that anyone can go to, and that's call Disneyland.

Now for problems and sadly these a lot: Britt Robertson as Casey got a bit on my nerves a little bit, and I got nothing against the actress she's good in the movie, but I just didn't care about her as a character.

The other character I didn't really care about Athena played by Raffey Cassidy. Just like what I said about Casey I didn't really care about her story ark.

The villain of the movie was pretty lame and weak, when the movie did the big twist by showing the villain I already sawed it coming minutes ago.

The third act of the movie really brought the movie down for me, because the first and second act was pretty solid but the third was the most bloated cop out I've seen this year and it ended so disappoint.

Overall Tomorrowland is a alright movie but the reason why I found it disappoint is because I expected something big and something great I mean that's what the movie was trying to be in the trailer's. The movie is different and I always like different movies that try to be something else, and I give the movie that.… Expand

I really did not find this movie interesting at all. none of the characters really impressed me except the villain who I think met an unjust end. Besides the young robot girl he was the character with the most meaning through out the film. I think the ending would have had more impact if instead of killing off the cynical character they changed his mind and helped him to believe in humanity again. The movie claims to be about "optimism" but none of the characters optimism was believable, while the villain made the most sense through the movie its a shame they ended it the way the did. The movie could have shown true optimism by curing the cynic of his cynicism instead of killing him off.

This was targeted at children but I found it pointlessly confusing and, while i'm sure they will enjoy the special effects, the message will be lost on them.… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What actually could have been like a toy box movie just turned into a cliche movie that really is 40 years too late. The movie is a fun movie for a good majority until you actually get to Tomorrowland. Then the movie just falls flat and down the rabbit hole until I was uninterested. The acting was great and all (even for George Clooneh. Aka most overrated actor). Though the story turns into a cliche mess of themes we've seen and then they beat you over the head with it. I like it, I really enjoyed watching it for the acting and the adventure.
The acting was really well. Britt Robertson was pretty great (although some of the dialogue was poorly done), Goerge Clooney final didn't step in the same shoes to act the same way he always does, and the best acting came from Raffey Cassidy. This is the first time I've seen a kid that dint annoy the living **** out of me. She was great and really the star of the movie in my opinion. Her pose and complete skill at taking over the screen was fantastic. Also for an actress to only play in two parts previous is astonishing.
The premise is great and really shows how wonderful the movie would have been. This could have been trike a toy box. Creating this Tomorrowland in your head. What is this place and why is it so cool, *spoiler* Thiugh when we arrival is when everything goes to ****.
We see that everyone is gone there and only a few are left. We then see this plot that the world is ending from global warming and disaster. We see the same message that humans are greedy and that we basically did this to ourselves. So Tomorrowland builds a machine to show people their future to make sure they don't keep going no done the same path of destruction they are set on. I get that. Then why is Tomorrowland empty? Never explain where everyone went. So the end evil guy is just going let earth die because he thinks that they've done this to themselves. Though some how the machine that tells everyone the future or a glimpse of it is the one at fault. The evil guy doesn't want them to destroy for no reason explained. Trending is sort of rushed with no real purpose. Evil guy dies and then they have to change the mind set of people on earth. Also to rebuild Tomorrowland. Though there should be no reason to do so. My did everyone leave. Someone explain.
Overall the movie was well done, the visuals were gear, acting even better, etc. Thouh what we are left with is a sloppy storyline and even sloppier finish. What could have been great turned into a short of mediocre mess. 6.5.… Expand

It's not a terrible film, but considering all the brilliant people who made it, it's bizarrely incoherant. Nothing ever comes together, and there are no great emotional moments. It's just very flat.

It's visually limp also; the film's look is a dull grey sheen. The cast is energetic, but no-one really has anything to do except run from one place to the next. I kept waiting for the story to start.

Trivia: the great film editor Walter Murch (Apocolypse Now, Godfather 2) was originally in sole charge of the film's editing and post production. In the end, a Jerry Bruckheimer editor was also credited, which suggests there were big problems putting the thing together.… Expand

A beautiful treat for the eyes. One of this film's strengths is that it regularly dazzles viewers with the exciting things portrayed on film. It really is stunning. While perhaps a bit uneven at times, "Tomorrowland" has a nice message and a decent plot to keep people invested until the end.

It's just a shame the characters aren't more interesting. The entire cast is made up of some very talented actors and actresses. I mean heck, it's got George Clooney. Unfortunately the majority of them are playing bland character-types we've all seen before. They lack true depth and are just there to carry the plot forward and get that message across. The only one I cared about was Raffey Cassidy's "Athena." She absolutely steal the show here and outdoes Clooney himself. It's a real treat to see her work.

The "never stop dreaming" message is a good one and is presented in an exciting and fresh manner. There's plenty of action, humor, and heart to be found here. It's just a shame the heart part falls short thanks to the majority of the characters being boring. The "science" behind the film might make realists want to throw something at the screen, but as Clooney says in the film "why can't you just be amazed and move on?"

Tomorrowland is an entertaining movie. One with a lot of flash and excitement. The substance backing it all up might not always be up to snuff, but it's enough to keep things entertaining until it's end. While not perfect it's still worth a watch. Especially with such a good message for the kids. There's even one for the grownups.

Kids will have no idea what is going on and adults will be bored out of their mind. The movie begins to feel a bit painful on its crushing length and offers nothing to be amazed about it.

But like many other Disney films, its fundamental message is a genuinely naive one, and that can be forgiven. Hugh Laurie's clothes and the CGI, however, cannot.… Expand

It's got some great visuals but seems like a lot of its movie budget went down the drain. It's not like they got special effects in every scene...it's nowhere near that. While it is overall entertaining and has a positive nessage, it suffers from a very slow start and underwhelming ending. It takes like 30 mins to get the ball rolling and for you to figure out what is going on. Also felt that the demise of one of the central robot/android characters (and George Clooney's character's reaction to it) was not very believable--I mean she's a machine, she should be able to copy/download her memories to some backup device and live again in a new body. And lastly, they should have titled it better--it's got nothing to do with the Tomorrowland in Disneyland.… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was so excited for this movie when I saw the trailers and that Brad Bird was directing it. But when I actually saw the movie, I was severely disappointed. Visually, Tomorrowland looks wonderful, due to a nearly $200m budget. However, the plot was a meandering mess, the script was laughable, and for the most part the acting was subpar (apart from Clooney and Laurie's barely memorable performances). You don't even understand what's going on until the last act of the movie. The writing was bad, with thick layers of cheesy worn-out tropes. Not to mention that the film claims that Casey is the young female protagonist, then proceeds to sideline her role to focus on George Clooney's character, and on top of that, the one other strong female character in the film is sacrificed to make him feel better about himself. Ugh. For the most part, there were child actors, so I can't really fault them for not being master thespians. However, I expected more out of Britt Robertson. Clooney acted like he does in every other film, and Hugh Laurie still felt like House. Raffey Cassidy did a very good job for a young actress, even though her character went to waste at the end. I did like the part when Hugh Laurie's character's leg was crushed; I'm assuming that was a tip of the hat to his role as Gregory House. And occasionally, the humor made me chuckle a bit. But overall, this movie was a waste of time and money, both for me and for the makers of the film.… Expand

If you have trouble sleeping and counting sheep doesn't work then this is the movie for you. Honestly, it can be summed up in one word...boring. I was counting the minutes till is was over and if I had been alone I would have walked out.

Not sure why critics hated on this movie so much. It's fun, original, and thoroughly entertaining. There was appropriate use of Clooney (not too much) and Brit Robertson gives an excellent performance. Hugh Laurie and Raffey Cassidy are greatNot sure why critics hated on this movie so much. After films like The Iron Giant, The Incredibles, Ratatouille, and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, there was no doubt in my mind that Tomorrowland was going to be another great addition to that list, and boy was I wrong. Tomorrowland is aAfter films like The Iron Giant, The Incredibles, Ratatouille, and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, there was no doubt in my mind that Tomorrowland was going to be another great addition to that list, and boy was I wrong. Tomorrowland is a visually beautiful film that addressed some very important issues, however as film, Tomorrowland did not work. It tries extremely hard to sell you the overall message, which quickly becomes tiring.

The movie is based on the popular Disney Theme Land called “Tomorrowland” that opened on July 17, 1955. The film revolves around Frank Walker played by Academy Award Winning Actor George Clooney (Oceans Eleven, Gravity) who plays an inventor that makes it into a land called Tomorrowland. When things go wrong for Frank and the world is about to be destroyed, an android from Tomorrowland called Athena played by Raffey Cassidy (Dark Shadows) comes to our dimension in order to try to find a person who can save the planet. Athena finally finds a gifted child who eventually crosses paths with Clooney’s character and they embark on a journey to save our planet.

Now let’s talk about the movie. Tomorrowland had my interest for the first and second half, after that the movie went downhill very quickly. The third and final act was rushed and sloppy. It simply lost all of my attention and interest. There are some scenes in the movie where you can see Brad Bird’s great talent but there are other scenes where you feel like you are watching a different movie altogether. That feeling is never a good thing, especially for a huge film such as this one.

As for the acting, let’s start with George Clooney who plays Frank Walker, the solitary scientific genius who decades earlier was heartbroken by Athena and banished from Tomorrowland. Clooney is without a doubt a great actor and here there is no exception to that. Then we have Britt Robertson (The Longest Ride) who plays Casey, a bright teenager who does everything in her power to help her family. Britt on the other hand, has some moments where she shines but during other scenes her performance ends up detracting from the movie. Then we have Hugh Laurie (House, Stuart Little) who played the brilliant leader of Tomorrowland, which was a waste of a great talent. Hugh Laurie was simply not used the way an actor like him should be. His character at times came as annoying and sometimes overacted. Overall even with some really great actors thrown into the mix, none of their performances really stood out to me.

In conclusion, Tomorrowland was a film that had my attention only in certain moments and at times, leaving me feeling like I was watching two different movies due the to constant change of tones. The third act of the film felt like everyone in the film did not care for it anymore or even gave up on it. The consistency of the film was all over the place. Sadly, Tomorrowland was a film with beautiful visuals, good acting, great imagination, but horribly executed which led to the downfall of what could’ve been an amazing film.

Final Score: 6.5/10… Expand

As far as Disney films go ‘Tomorrowland’ may be the most ostentatious and ambitious yet, combining a visually stunning family Sci-fi epic with a socially conscious mystery, the captain for this multifaceted ship is acclaimed writer/directorAs far as Disney films go ‘Tomorrowland’ may be the most ostentatious and ambitious yet, combining a visually stunning family Sci-fi epic with a socially conscious mystery, the captain for this multifaceted ship is acclaimed writer/director Brad Bird (The Incredibles) whose association with Disney goes back to his first job as an animator for them.

We commend the Disney marketing department for their restraint with a strategy that avoids endless “leaks” and spoilers thereby protecting the film’s mystery and the 1st time movie-going experience, take note Marvel & Lucasfilm and other “Tent-pole” movie makers.

Needless to say ‘Tomorrowland’ is visually impressive layering the best CGI money can buy into a design aesthetic inspired by the Disneyland attraction and based on a view of the future from a 1950s perspective, somewhat “Jetsons” like.

The heart of the film however is the story and tone and that’s where Bird starts to trip over his own ambition, ‘Tomorrowand’ is essentially a story championing the creative and restless over the apathetic in this world, it bends over backwards to drill the audience with the message that the “dreamers” will change the world and hope will conquer all.

Naive but refreshing and commendable for a Disney family film to try and tackle, but if the constant preaching and morality tale wrapped up in a bow gets tedious for mature audiences what about the rest of the family?

There’s a lot going on storywise and it’ll be easy for the message to be drowned out by the visuals and tangents which make the story disjointed, particularly for younger audiences, and it’s hard to excuse some of the convenient narrative as Disney fantasy when they’re invoking actual theoretical physics to wrap-up high-minded concepts of space and time into this fantastical tale, Disney’s ill-conceived attempt at ‘Interstellar’ perhaps.

The Bottom Line…
A little disappointing given the mystery surrounding it and certainly not a game-changer, ‘Tomorrowand’ is nevertheless a bold filmmaking leap by Disney and a visually impressive and highly original if not overly memorable cinematic experience.… Expand

Those people who says that Tomorrowland is boring, a waste of time, or even stupid, well, THEY DON"T KNOW THE TRUE ART OF FILM MAKING. This movie is one of the best movie i have ever watched, and i very rarely say this. This movie is one of the best movie i have ever watched, and i very rarely say this. This should be nominated for oscars. The story, scenes, actors, dialogues, and visual effects are just perfect and great. Britt Robertson was very believable in her role and the child Athena was just as great. I know lots of adults that says this movie is exciting, and children who enjoyed it. And i am a science student and i'm not offended by this movie, i was actually fascinated. So i truly recommend you all to watch this movie. I promise you that Disney showed its best once again :)… Expand

You may go deaf from the amount of times you have to hear "Tomorrowland's" thematic message, but - in spite of that - some fun set pieces and entertaining performances ultimately make the film worth the watch.

Tomorrowland has it's moments from time to time, but uneven pacing, poor plotting and general indecisiveness stop the film from taking flight. Tomorrowland ultimately ends up a bit botched.

I'm not so sure if I'm going to see Tomorrowland this week. The good news is that director Brad Bird did an impressive job on taking big chances giving George Clooney and Britta Robinson their best performances so far in this film. However,I'm not so sure if I'm going to see Tomorrowland this week. The good news is that director Brad Bird did an impressive job on taking big chances giving George Clooney and Britta Robinson their best performances so far in this film. However, the lacking of the film feels light and after I read the reviews for Tomorrowland, maybe people should've stayed watching Maleficent and/or Cinderella instead and hopefully I could wait for Tomorrowland on DVD. But just like Jupiter Ascending, the hype is the only problem Disney might've gotten misunderstood. I don't know if it's like a children's movie or a sci-fi adventure movie, eventually, there were some minor flaws like the dystopian setting where one girl switches the ring from one town to another as seen in the trailer. The story is just recycled (although not much to say about the dialogue), and I know it's hard to count on a fantastic director behind animated gems like The Incredibles and the aforementioned underrated The Iron Giant. No doubt, he is a great director. But Tomorrowland just fallen short of how a great Disneyland-themed movie that inspired for over 60 fantastic years including Pirates of the Caribbean and Alice in Wonderland. Quite possibly be an underrated moment for Disney, so I should probably have to wait for it o DVD and Blu-Ray.… Expand

In this film, Tim McGraw plays a NASA engineer who is soon to be out a job. His daughter (Britt Robertson) sabotages the deconstruction of the launch pad (in hopes he keeps his job a bit longer). Criminal through and through - is this what we need to teach our kids? Be criminals and saboteurs, and everything should work out alright? No, this is incorrect.
Fast forward a few sequences, a pin given by a little girl is only activated by Robertson's character (it seems). The quasi-world she is forwarded to is "Tomorrowland" (like the Disney park world).
Interesting concepts abound here, but George Clooney's character was apparently banished from the world a while ago (and the reasons not revealed until the final act). Hugh Laurie makes an appearance as the overseer to this fake world, ruling with a dictator-like presence.
Everything is sorted out "in-the-nick-of-time", with childhood crushes reconciled and a hurrah of optimism.
Pretty standard flow of movie - main character has something, everyone else tries to take it from her at all costs, and only a crusty old man seems to know the real potential. How law enforcement and common sense fit into this, well, it's a movie!
In summary, a good rental for a few hours escape from the real world. Not much else. Wait for it on Redbox.… Expand

This movie was really good except for the ending--the whole idea that there really needed to be a villain really. Why couldn't utopia just be a utopia and it be everyone in the real world that are a threat to the utopia? Tomorrowland; the movie that was going to stand out as an original sequel-killer failed to deliver a stronger box office-performance, and of course a less messy and entertaining plot. Who could have thought the team-up of the director of ‘TheTomorrowland; the movie that was going to stand out as an original sequel-killer failed to deliver a stronger box office-performance, and of course a less messy and entertaining plot. Who could have thought the team-up of the director of ‘The Incredibles’ and the writer of unaccountable episodes of ‘Lost’ could result it such a popcorn-disaster.

So the movie starts exactly how you think it would, with a young dreamer called Casey Newton and her journey to the mysterious place called Tomorrowland. The plot is very focused on just that, to get to the land of dreams. It’s very optimistic too. It got a lot to tell about us humans on a basic scale, in a way that might be considered a bit cliché-ish though. But the plot is very uncertain after the second act. The movie keeps going but it’s not really clear where we’re going. And because of that; the excitement was lost and the movie failed to deliver. It felt boring and non-entertaining on a personal level at several occasions. The opening sequence didn’t add to that, which felt annoying, childish and overly messy. But let’s not forget the movie and its strength, and there are some of them!

There are a lot of beautiful, realistic and fascinating shots where Brad Bird really did a big difference! The whole ride into this world is so realistic, and not to mention the spectacular action and sci-fi. Just the basic idea of this extraordinary place is wonderful and original. The ride to go there and all these adventurous events is a superb idea! Add somewhat inventive intense action to the film, and you get some awesome moments! But it’s as previously mentioned, a not so great movie. The plot is so one-dimensional and it’s not really explained in the detail what’s going on. It’s messy, weird and it got some smaller plot-holes here and there.

But what about the basics? How’s the characters, actors and dialogs? Well they’re are all great! George Clooney is flawless, as usual. Strong characters and understandable and relatable dialogs are present as well. But there’s some vague chemistry between the main characters. ‘They doesn’t have that strong bond’.

So to keep it short; Tomorrowland is just as Jupiter Ascending. The basic idea is fundamentally great, but the execution of the plot is so weird, non-interesting and silly. No feeling either. But the idea is great and it really is inventive, original and a fun ride into the imagination. But less great than the expectations.

Positive aspects: Highly original, realistic and stunning cinematography, action and characters.
Negative aspects: An overly messy and childish structure, plot-holes, uneven storytelling and a non-interesting plot.

Personal rating: 6/10

The film had great special effects, good action sequences, and pretty good acting, but squanders that on a weak narrative and a lack of clarification in general. Let me clarify what I mean, if you watch this movie in a theater you can enjoy yourself, but after you leave the theater and think about the film it won't make much sense. The lack of explanation leads to the film having a weak narrative, weak villains, and an overly complex premise, and a bunch of characters we see but don't understand. That being said the film is still enjoyable, and is loaded with good humor. So if you like funny, action packed, Sci-Fi you may want to check this out, just know the plot won't make sense the more you think about it.… Expand

We have the impression that the whole film is in this amazing and magical place but it isn't and it kills you. Honestly, Tomorrowland is hard for kids to enjoy because of some quite violent scenes and how long it takes for the story to actually happen and it might also let adults bored. Casey is a nice girl but she's far from the charisma of the young Frank we met at the beginning so this can get in your way too. Watch it if you care a lot about visual effects because the rest...the idea was only good on paper.… Expand

It was so long and boring, with most of the film filled with dialogue and not enough of the eye popping visuals and more of a story to find out. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Tomorrowland is confused – perhaps even more than I am while attempting calculus. It's visual aspects are absolutely the most stunning, and perhaps the only the element that keeps the movie afloat. Casey was a likable hero, even relatable. We knew her and we believed she was special. But everyone else was unconvincing. I don't believe for a second that Frank is "special" or can save the world. It doesn't feel like he wants to. I also don't think that's Clooney's fault. Frank's character was never even alive because the story didn't allow it.

At the beginning, I was amazed by the overall splendor of Tomorrowland and its mystery, as well of as these animatronics, but as soon as that image of a prosperous and beautiful Tomorrowland is gone, so is the movie. The city is in ruin just like the plot. I'm not even going to go in detail here because quite honestly it just doesn't make sense. The events that transpire don't really add up, they just play loud music and have a lot of special effects. I didn't find myself really caring whether or not the world even ended, because I didn't even understand why these imaginary things could cause such disaster and ruin. Tomorrowland was supposed to be a place of creativity and I just feel like that's something the movie desperately needs to save it. Where is our real-life Casey?… Expand

I totally agree with what this guy says, "Tommorowland. What a beautiful looking film, arresting in every way possible. But, it is all show, and lacks substance. George Clooney gives a masterful performance, and Britt Robinson gives a good performance too. The worst part of TomorrowLand is that it doesn't live up to the hype that it had. Brad Bird instead gave us a beautiful movie, but had no good film underneath that layer. TomorrowLand is inspired by Disney's famous theme park, and there is a slight vibe added to it. There is Hugh Laurie as a maniac though. Sadly, it is a let down, but if you admire creativity, give this a watch."

Fictional elements are adaptive to its theme. I came to realize though that even an adult like George Clooney can spark a love scent with a very young pair (the robotic girl) without any stain of malice. Ok, so the beginning felt like it might be a really exciting movie. Afterwards it got even more exciting and I thought we will see lots of action in it too combined with futuristic/sci-fi stuff. In my opinion because it is Disney, the company which made it, so they made it family friendly and full of lessons for kids. While I would have preferred them to explore some more of the action that could have been in there and the actual futuristic world that was built there. Whilst it is at times visually impressive and quirky, it never lives up to its potential. The opening act successfully teases the audience into wanting to know more, but unfortunately the film suffers in its pacing to a large degree. The film feels like a ninety minute beginning to a movie, with little character development and lack of a clear narrative arc. The characters are poorly written, lacking in comedic humour, successful dialogue and basic human instincts and emotional drives. Not to mention the incredibly unusual relationship between the main characters and the lack of a proper antagonist. In terms of narrative arc, the film's pacing is a massive downfall. Whilst the opening act engages the audience's intrigues, the film slows down and eventually simmers out, up until the point that the viewer is disengaged in the already disappointing final act. Overall, Tomorrowland is contradictory, unrealistic, over political and lacking in any sense of adventure or fun promised in the trailers.… Expand

I saw this film being mediocre from the trailers. Every trailer never revealed anything big, but it always panned to beautiful CGI. A family movie unlike any other. It's has action, effects, verve, exciting concept... It also has ambition and something meaningful to say. And putting young two girl heroes (one's a robot!) in the centre of the story was quite refreshing. But all in all, the movie is so uneven that I can't fully recommend it.

"Tomorrowland" feels never elegants script-wise and the acting style seems kind of hammy (I think it's intentional). But the first act, or about 45 minutes, is really catchy.

A lot is happening then, movie is chock-full of ideas how to take us on a visual joyride. New things are coming in like flood, often way before we are finished enjoying the previous things.

The parallel world is quite cool too, think Luc Besson's cult classic "The Fifth Element" (1997) in a Disney remix. Too bad we get to see actually so little of it.

But from during the second hour, i really started feeling disappointed of seeing so much material to build on (both story and the world) but makers choosing to fill the time with endless mediocre mindless action. The second half turns out to be a bit of a drag, especially final "battle". The movie should really be shorter. Not to mention wasting the message part of the movie, being just "Facebook deep".

Brad Bird is known for near-flawless directing career so far. He is the man behind three animations ("The Iron Giant", "The Incredibles", "Ratatouille") and "MIssion: Impossible 4", all well regarded in their genres. But "Tomorrowland" is messy, having too much material and not knowing where to put all of it. Maybe it was a mistake for Bird to write screenplay with Damon Landelof, the creator of "Lost" which also started strong and ended having way too much of everything.

"Tomorrowland" is based on the Disney amusement parks' areas of the same name, by the way. Just like "Pirates of the Caribbean".… Expand

Technically sublime and under scrutiny entertaining but unfortunately Tomorrowland fails to meet expectations, the culptrist are the script and its own scope that is only helpful to inspire if the story is motivating. Beyond its own idea of elitism, the criticism it shows works under certain circumstances, because if in fact one can live in that dream world, what is the purpose of our real world in the first place?

Tomorrowland is a plot driven sci-fi thriller about a girl that finds a collector's pin that allows her to enter into another world. The action and chase sequences are slick fun with mature choreography created and performed lethally. It is a visual galore brimmed with gritty humans, fragile robots, darker future and jaw dropping technology which frankly was difficult to pull off considering the vision, but it surely is convincing enough. There are bits and pieces of humor in it which is imputed smoothly and works with the flow especially all the tiny physical notions. It is too calculative and is obliged with its subjective procedure to set up the plots and characters, that it fails to offer the basic need to its audience. There are few ideas extracted from here and there with very little to offer on terms of originality. The cinematography and background isn't suffice for it to glorify the scenes which frankly is in desperate need of. Clooney adapts the character aptly with Robertson still in need of polishing along with Cassidy and Laurie who surprisingly seems distracted in here. The narrative is too diplomatic for it to breed the crisp out of its over thought out concept. The conversations may be inedible at times but few one liners hits it out of the park along with its perfectly cooked characters that are just pure fun to explore. Ticking for more than two hours, Bird's execution may be worth but a blunt script as such fails on all levels to cut out its own premise amidst all the commercial aspect of it. The passionate vision of Bird, the emotional aspects that the concept deals with and well constructed physical sequences are the high points of the feature. Tomorrowland is Bird's attempt on creating a sci-fi, it is a plausible attempt but the viewers seek more.… Expand

Sadly I was somewhat disappointed with this movie. I had expected so much more from it.

The story itself was fresh and interesting. The choice of actors, however, left me underwhelmed. I enjoyed George Clooney playing a grumpy old man.Sadly I was somewhat disappointed with this movie. I had expected so much more from it.

The story itself was fresh and interesting. The choice of actors, however, left me underwhelmed. I enjoyed George Clooney playing a grumpy old man. It suits him! :) I enjoyed Hugh Laurie's role. I enjoyed Raffey Cassidy's role as Athena. I was less than impressed with the other main characters.

The movie has an entertaining concept and lively characters, but it tends to be on the preachy side. The last half hour gets muddled in confusing space lingo, and I lost some interest.

Tomorrowland is an ambitious and original concept that had the potential to motivate filmmakers to create original films, but despite some great direction from the extremely talented Brad Bird Tomorrowland falls short of the hype. The film has some great effects and that is one of the high points in this film and I think that actors do a pretty good job in this movie considering what they were given for a script. I did not really feel connected with the characters despite this cast and I really didn't know if the chemistry was 100 percent established with the cast. The third act, the point where everything should really get exciting, is the part where the whole movie just falls apart. The film is too long and allows so much build up only to crack under the pressure. Then I see the credits and see Damon Lindelof wrote this film, the man who is famous for LOST. I must say that is a bit ironic.

I think that Tomorrowland is no where near being a bad film there was just so much potential and it settles for mediocrity. I applaud the effort for Brad Bird and this film is still hardly a scratch on his record so far so I'm sure he will be back with a vengeance for Incredibles 2.… Expand

I will have to say overall the movie was very disappointing, am glad I didn't spend hard earned money at the theater and waited to rent it. With that said the storyline is very hard to follow and not set very well in the script, it leaves you lost as the movie moves on. To me that was no surprise as I wondered how Disney was going to tell the tale of Tomorrowland, what we all are familiar with from our trips to Disney World and Disneyland. George Clooney does well with what he is given and had the feel that he was trying to bail this movie out all the way through. If your bored and want something to watch OK, but I can say I wouldn't recommend anyone rushing out to buy it or rent it!!… Expand

This is a very underrated movie. It is actually a really fun adventure with an original premise. The characters are likeable, the visuals are spectacular, the world is really immersive, and it has a very intriguing plot. Brad Bird has a wayThis is a very underrated movie. Brad Bird has a way of directing that makes everything feel so fun and adventurous as he have done with the Incredibles movies and MI- Ghost Protocol. Michael Giacchino's score is absolutely terrific, big, melodic, and orchestral. I listen to the Pin-Ultimate Experience and End Credits cue all the time. The third act unfortunately is a bit of a let down but still it doesn't ruin the movie or anything. Since the buildup and the anticipation of the first two acts were so well done, I just thought there would be something more interesting by the end. However, it is very emotional and I like the way it wraps up. Although George Clooney is good, Britt Robertson and Raffey Cassidy are the standouts here and they are both wonderfully charismatic. It is truly too bad that this original film tanked at the box office because I really would like to see more adventure films like this. I wish Brad Bird would come back to direct live action films especially adventure films like this one.… Expand

The movie failed to make a profit, but, like so many titles before it, this film presents the beauty of cinematography and the imagination of mankind at its best. This movie has all the trappings of a peak Disney family feature; a time when that company promoted friendship, faith and good will to all men. As such,“Tomorrowland” embodies the hope, excitement and wonder that so many of us feel during childhood. More importantly, it speaks of true love: that, despite our constant arguing, differences and conflict, our friends and family still care, no matter what. Finally, “Tomorrowland” teaches us that we need to let go of, not only our doubts, anger and resentment, but also let go of our emotional dependence on others. That way we can all move forward into the future.

This movie has me smiling wide-eyed and honestly crying at its uplifting message and excellent pace. It has me glued to my monitor in a trance that almost no current Hollywood production can do any longer. Brad Bird and Damon Lindelof: I received your wonderful message and it lives and breathes in my heart. As for you, reader: go with the understanding that, if you keep faith, that the future will choose you. The good people of the world unite to create it.… Expand
