If they correctly introduce Wolverine to the franchise, the conclusion does make me curious about what they will do with the following X-Men film. I also hope that the following Wolverine will feature other superheroes. Hugh Jackman does a good job portraying the role of Wolverine, despite the fact that it might be difficult to see someone who sang at the Oscars and sung his way through Les Miserables play such a complex character. Given how much money it brought in, the viewers must have found this version to be satisfactory because Expand

The Wolverine. Claws or sword. Hugh Jackman continues to deliver great performances for Logan. A new adventure, though not so interesting, but very dynamic. Especially the scene on the train.

But it does improve on Last Stand and Origins by quite a fair bit, neither are as bad as they're reputed to be but had a lot of glaring shortcomings. That is not to say that The Wolverine had no shortcomings either. There is some illogical scripting, the romance is a bit forced and the extended scenes that has it bogs the film down, the ending is a bit too rushed, some scenes dragged and were a touch repetitive and the Japanese characters were very under-written and not at all interesting. What The Wolverine does do that improves on Origins and Last Stand is that it isn't anywhere near as bad as trying to incorporate too many subplots and too many characters and then develop hardly any of them. The film looks great, the special effects improved over those from Origins, it's slickly edited, it's shot cohesively and it has a beautifully dark look that gives it both a grit and audaciousness. The music is suitably dynamic and while not completely action-enhancing it at least fits. The story is not perfect, but there was a dark intensity there, some unexpected twists and turns and I didn't have too much trouble following it, while the action is smartly handled especially the Throne of Blood-like ninja fight and the one on the superfast train. The funeral one was reasonably fun too but was over too quickly. James Mangold does valiantly and unlike Brett Ratner and Gavin Hood he is actually comfortable throughout instead of being good in one aspect(the action) and not in the other. The performances are fine, although Tao Okamoto's beauty is nowhere near enough to salvage her bland acting. Rila Yukushima's acrobatics dazzle and of the femme fatales Svetlana Khodchenkova is even better, slinky and formidable. But Hugh Jackman gives the best performance, a very powerful performance while being subdued, it was nice to see some depth to him this time when in Last Stand and Origins he was moody for the sake of it seemingly and not much else. The Japanese culture was very nicely done and gave the film some diversity. To conclude, a decent and quite enjoyable film that serves as a better but still not perfect origins story. 6.5/10 Bethany Cox Expand

I knew I was in for some good time when the movie began. The way Wolverine saved a Japanese soldier from a nuclear blast made me believe this movie will finally be what we had hoped X-Men Origins: Wolverine to be. But as it turns out, it madeI knew I was in for some good time when the movie began. The way Wolverine saved a Japanese soldier from a nuclear blast made me believe this movie will finally be what we had hoped X-Men Origins: Wolverine to be. But as it turns out, it made the same mistake but in Japanese.

Wolverine is shown to be living in solitude but comes out because a bear died. Like, what? Is that even enough to drive him over the edge? And then he goes to Japan to meet Yashida, the soldier who is now on his deathbed. It hurts to just look at him. His bed is covered with steel nails. I was thinking his head would be hit really hard when they raise him up. Yashida tells Logan that his healing powers are finishing because of which he must find a way to die. Seriously? Just because you are dying doesn't mean everyone wants to die. And then they show Wolverine to have lost all his powers because he was kissed by Snake Poison Ivy when he was asleep.

Honestly I don't have a problem with superheroes losing their powers. But when they are for absolutely stupid reasons like this one and then they get harassed by regular bad guys like Yakuzas in this movie, I really have a problem with that. And until the very end of the movie Wolverine remains powerless. And he sees Phoenix in his dreams. It was one thing I absolutely DIDN'T want to watch. And finally it is "revealed" that the Steel Samurai was Yashida. He wanted to take Wolverine's healing powers so that he could heal himself. And Wolverine beats him, says goodbye to Jean Gray just like how Spider-Man said goodbye to Sandman.

The CGI of this movie has been done very well. Most of the problem comes here due to a poorly written plot trying to be everywhere at the same time. It began as a completely different movie and ended as a completely different one. And the amount of Japanese spoken in this movie made me look more at the subtitles than the actual movie. Because of course, how can a movie ever be complete without a bunch of talking?

I won't think twice before concluding that The Wolverine is the most forgettable out of all the X-Men movies, especially among the spin-off ones. It was a waste of another great plot for Wolverine just like how Origins did. I like how they actually improved these problems in Logan, which gave the iconic X-Men superhero a perfect goodbye.

The movie doesnt have any comic relief. It feels like its dark and gritty just for the sake of it. The problem with that is that "Dark and gritty" only works when you feel identification with the characters and there is a well-written dramatic story. There are no likeable characters and the fighting scenes are not special either. The movie would have worked way better if they would have cut down on characters and fake drama and upped the comic relief and fun. There would have been so much opportunities for that in Japan! In this film, Logan is taken on a trip to Tokyo to say goodbye to a friend, whom he saved when the atomic bomb exploded over Nagasaki, and who is now dying. He is a millionaire, has built a technological empire and will leave it to his granddaughter, who is threatened by the Yakuza, the Japanese mafia. Of course, Logan will have to protect her, and in the midst of all of this he will discover the truth about his presence in the country of the Rising Sun.

Personally, I did not feel particularly involved by the film or the story, which seems like one of those films where they take advantage of a charismatic character and simply put him in a place or context where he has not yet appeared anywhere. The film is a little too long for the story told, it would have been interesting to cut it by thirty minutes in order to make it lighter, and the feeling it gets is that everything is just a pretext for the action scenes, where Wolverine slices things and shreds Japanese guys with the same ease with which I cut sausages for breakfast.

The cast is led by the inevitable Hugh Jackman, back to the character who immortalized him to most people, and whom he plays without surprises. I haven't seen anything I haven't seen previously, in the extensive X-Men franchise, and the actor seems to be just earning money. Nothing against it, I also honestly earn my own, but it lacks talent and commitment here. Much more interesting was the performance of Rila Fukushima, impeccable in the action scenes and who was unstoppable with a katana in her hands. Tao Okamoto is beautiful and looked great in the film, as did Hiroyuki Sanada, who proved to have more talent than what he managed to reveal. Veteran Hal Yamanouchi was also a very good addition to the Japanese cast, and it was very enjoyable to hear Japanese in place of the ubiquitous US English we are used to. After all, if the story takes place in Japan with Japanese characters, what is the logic of speaking English all the time?

Technically, I think it's an uninteresting film. Most of the action scenes take place on autopilot, with highly choreographed fights and without any blood dripping, as if it were a ballet. At one point, I felt sleepy with so much dancing. Cinematography does not bring us anything astounding. Sets and costumes, although they're basically what we could expect, with kimonos and traditional houses along with skyscrapers and fast trains, occasionally give us small pearls. I especially liked the robotic suit that appears at the end.

Notable.

The movie begins in 1945 at a POW camp in Nagasaki, Japan, as an atomic bomb goes off, Logan (Jackman) rescues officer Ichiro Yashida (Ken Yamamura). We cut to years later, at the present time, where we see our hero having dreams and often hallucinates about Jean (Famke Janssen), feeling the everlong guilt when he killed her in the events of 'X-Men: The Last Stand' (2006) when she became the Phoenix. He wakes up again, and it seems that he living rough, sleeping in the woods with very little left of his life. He is then approached by Yukio (Rila Fukushima), who tells him that Master Yashida (Haruhiko Yamanouchi), the man he saved all those years ago, owes him an overdue thanks. Logan seems reluctant at first to go to Japan just to say goodbye to an old man he once knew, but goes along anyway since he doesn't have any other choice. When he arrives in Tokyo, he meets Yashida's granddaughter, Mariko (Tao Okamoto), and is told that he must protect her, as her father, Shingen Yashida (Hiroyuki Sanada) is planning against her. The movie then becomes a mission where Wolverine is essentially Mariko's bodyguard throughout the whole process. Logan keeps getting these visions of Jean and it makes it difficult for him, emotionally, and when he finally meets the older Yashida, he promises Logan that he can make him mortal, and live long and die a normal death. Logan begins to feel strange over the next few days as his healing abilities seem unable to work, not only is he emotionally unstable, mourning the death of Jean, but he is physically unable to fight, as it seems that Yashida's plan to make Logan mortal is working. 'The Wolverine', directed by James Mangold (who also directed 'Walk the Line'), is a darker, grittier, and more realistic entry into the "X-Men" franchise. It's more grounded and less of a spectacle. The action scenes are crafted brilliantly, the acting is superb and committed, and just the overall movie, is brilliant to watch, especially in the comic-book genre. The third act is the movie's weak spot as it does bog down towards CGI nonsense, but overall, this is a brilliant, polished movie, and is certainly a huge improvement over 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' (2009). How did it turn out? Pretty good overall. It's still nothing historic, but it gets the job done thanks to some impressive action scenes, good acting and some decent writing. The writing could've been better and the characters weren't too memorable (though, as I said, the acting was good), but all in all, "The Wolverine" is a solid comic-book film that's definitely worth a watch if you enjoy the X-Men films. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. "The Wolverine" is the second attempt to give the titular her his own film. It is better than "Origins" in a technical level but unlike its infamous predecessor, it is unmemorable with a few moments not withstanding. One thing that did stand out was the Computer Effects of a Grizzly bear in the first few minutes which is some of the most laughable CG I had seen in a long time. Throughout the rest of the film, the CGI is passable but the bear is so unconvincing that it feels that I am watching " The Langoliers". The pot had some potential of Wolverine suffering from guilt from having to kill Jean in the events of the third movie and wanted to get rid of his immortality. The grief had potental to explore Wolverine's chracter of an immortal trapped in a life full of violence but the flashbacks act as anusance at best and the thirst for mortality is diminished when he gets poisoned. The Silver Samurai is a downgrade from his comic counterpart as he is portray in the original source material as a warrior looking for a challenge but has his own code of honor like a real samurai. The film version though is really a manipulator who fights dirty and rely on technology to get his power like an Iron-Man villain. The love interest could have been interesting but being Wolverine's Sidekick appears to be her only role. The action doesn't really stand out with the exception of the fight on top of the bullet train. This was the one time when Wolverine felt vulnerable because he struggles to keep his balance n a train that is faster then the speed of sound and Wolverine desperately tries not to fall to his death. With the exception of that one scene, the film really has no bearing on the overall series. Any consequence is rendered meaningless as they are ignored after the events of "Days of Future Past". If one truly has the desire to see this film it is a harmless waste of time; you wouldn't gain anything from watching it but you wouldn't loose anything either. Expand

The Wolverine proves that it's possible to have a movie based on a comic book franchise that doesn't involve mass destruction, the fate of the planet, and a seemingly indestructible bad guy. The Wolverine is a surprisingly personal, intimate tale (at least insofar as an X-Men spinoff can be considered "intimate") - more of a crime story with superhero flavoring than an all-out CGI effects action orgy. That's not to intimate there's no action - there's enough to keep Wolverine fans involved, including a tremendous train-top chase/fight - but The Wolverine is character-based. That's something none of the other 2013 superhero movies can boast.

As a brand, "Wolverine" has taken something of a hit. It started with a fan backlash against the third film in the original X-Men trilogy and continued into the lackluster origin story, X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Toning things down is probably the right direction to take the character, at least for a single story. It allows us to re-connect with Logan (Hugh Jackman) in the post-X-Men: Last Stand universe. When the movie begins, he's alone and isolated. The Wolverine is about his coming to grips with his immortality and his quest to put his past behind him and arrive at a place where he can return to his role as a "soldier." It also involves Logan's tentative steps toward loving someone other than Jean Grey (Famke Janssen), whose image dominates his dreams and nightmares.

The majority of The Wolverine transpires in Japan, which lends the movie an exotic flair. He's there to bid farewell to an old compatriot, billionaire industrialist Yashida (Hal Yamanouchi), who lies on his dying bed. When the old man dies, Logan becomes the unwitting protector of his granddaughter, Mariko (Tao Okamoto), who has been targeted for kidnapping by the Yakuza. Mariko's closest childhood friend, Yukio (Rila Fukushima), becomes Logan's sidekick, and he is aided in his quest by another of Mariko's protectors, Kenuichio Harada (Will Yun Lee). There's also a mutant involved: the mysterious Viper (Svetlana Khodchenkova), whose ultimate goals are unclear but whose methods, such as robbing Wolverine of his self-healing powers, are deadly.

The Wolverine's director, James Mangold, is better known for drama than action, and much of the material in this movie plays to his strengths. The exception is the climax, which comes across as disappointingly generic in the wake of a mostly fresh first 90 minutes. Mangold does a better job with thriller elements and character interaction than he does with the introduction of a robot that looks like it got lost on the way to Iron Man 3.

This is, of course, Hugh Jackman's movie, and no one comes close to upstaging him. Jackman, one of the more charismatic actors currently working in superhero movies, is fully invested in this project. His eye-popping physique is on full display in a topless scene; he looks more like Schwarzenegger in his prime than the guy who played Jean Valjean. Jackman evidences some nice chemistry with his two female co-stars: Rile Fukushima, who executes a lot of martial arts stunts as Robin to Wolverine's Batman, and model-turned-actress Tao Okamoto, who plays the love interest. Svetlana Khodchenkova's Viper and Will Yun Lee's Harada are underused - The Wolverine could have done more with them and less with the big silver samurai robot.

The change-of-pace evident in The Wolverine saves it from the "just another superhero" movie label and offers an antidote to the fatigue that may have set in for the populace in general. Sometimes smaller is the way to go and Jackman's abilities are perfectly suited for a movie that requires some acting to accompany the stunts and special effects. And, for those who like post-credits Easter eggs, The Wolverine offers a big, memorable one. Whatever you do, don't leave until you've seen it (you'll know it when it happens about 1/3 of the way through the end credits). It's the cherry on the top of an otherwise tasty summer treat.

The one thing holding this film back from being great is it's PG-13 rating we get good action but it gets ruined by the lack of blood that should be flying everywhere as Wolverine slashes through everyone. The humor and swearing is surprisingly uninfected by the PG-13 rating and is pretty damn funny. The pacing and the way this movie looks is stunning,my favorite part of this movie is when Wolverine is crouched outside a motel in Japan (this whole movie mostly takes place in Japan) pouring with rain. The lighting and cinematography in this scene is damn near perfect and it gave me chills, you should definitely check it out if you're are Wolverine or X-men fan. Expand

Bottom-line: One phrase: giant samurai ninja robot.

I was sitting on a flight from San Francisco to Pittsburgh and one of the in-flight shows was Inside the Actors Studio with an interview with Hugh Jackman. He explained how he was excited about the opportunity to portray Logan, or Wolverine, in the then upcoming movie The Wolverine. It kinda made me want to see the movie even though I thought it would be bad. I was correct but what do-ya-expect from a comic book movie, right?

As a quick side note, I think it might be interesting to make a compilation of prequels that add or remove “The” to the franchise. The Wolverine and Fast and Furious are two that come to mind. The Smurfs is a reboot of Smurfs. Evil Dead is a remake of The Evil Dead.

Another side note, if you aren’t familiar with X-Men or Wolverine, he is a mutant who has the ability to quickly heal. At some point, some evil scientists replaced his skeleton with an indestructible metal so Logan (aka Wolverine) is essentially immortal. How exactly is a fight supposed to be suspenseful? In the one movie, for example, he survives a handgun shot to the forehead. Nevertheless, as my fiancée points out, we see in the trailer that “he isn’t healing like before”. They do take his immortality away from him for part of the film. This is more reasonable than a character like Superman; the only way to hurt him physically is to get a piece of his planet from across the galaxy. It may just come down to my fear that if I was in the X-Men world, I would either be a non-mutant or have a lame power. Similarly, I would totally be a Muggle if I lived in a Harry Potter world. Anyway, back to the movie.

It seems like any Wolverine introduction has Logan wandering in the woods, being all mopey and mysterious until invariably he gets into a bar fight and flees after nearly killing everyone. The Wolverine is no different except that, this time a martial arts expert, red haired Japanese punk named Yukio (Fukushima) rescues him. She explains that a man named Yashida (Yamanouchi) is dying and wants to say goodbye. Through a series of redundant flashbacks, we learn how Logan and the man met. Long story short, Logan saved him from the atomic blast in Nagasaki. Yashida went on to found a massive electronics company of the same name. Now, Yashida wants Logan’s healing abilities and P.S. the Yakuza is trying to kill Yashida’s granddaughter, Mariko (Okamoto). Logan fights waves of Yakuza (and then ninjas) who are trying to kidnap Mariko, who is arranged to be married but falls in love with Logan (surprise surprise) even though she was in love with the leader of the ninja clan (the same ninja clan trying to kidnap her). Whew, let me catch my breath. The Wolverine made me realize something about film. A great movie shows you, a bad movie tells you and a really bad movie tells you again; The Wolverine has so much dialog about things I do not care about.

The action in this movie is expectable for a PG-13 movie. Did you know that a PG-13 movie can say the f-word once? Movies like The Wolverine will position that one usage for maximum ‘awesomeness’ too and it is something of a game of mine to anticipate when it will come up. I won’t spoil the fun for you (if you wind up seeing this movie). It bothers me that PG-13 movies can say the f dash dash dash word once and still be considered PG-13. Do we want to reserve certain words to only be used in certain tough guy situations? If that line where Wolverine says “F you” is made out to be special and cool, it just gives profanity a cult appeal (in the minds of the young male target audience).

Ok, ok, ok. I know what you might be saying, what do you expect from a movie like this? It is a comic book action movie. How many X-men movies featuring Wolverine have there been anyway? The action in this movie is good and comic-booky featuring a fight seen on top of a bullet train.

The cinematography wasn’t my favorite; the camera was ‘in the action’ so it was really shaky. Shaky camera has its time and place but with a superhero movie, it feels like they are just trying to hide poor fights scenes instead of make a realistic, gritty vibe. Batman Begins made me feel this way too.

Overall, The Wolverine isn’t any earth shattering experience but a regular comic book movie: action and sexism. I didn’t really expect much and didn’t really get much. While I wasn’t disappointed per se, I wouldn’t recommend The Wolverine unless you are a solid fan in which case you’ve probably watched it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. "The Wolverine" is the first time we get to see Wolverine in action, with plenty of blood, killing, swearing (well, the "F bomb" was dropped 3 times, not that often) and all that other good stuff. As always, Hugh Jackman is superb in the role but there are a few aspects of the film that bring the whole experience down.

Performances by the rest of the cast can be notably bad and lifeless at times and it doesn't help that characters are written to be quite stupid and one-dimensional. I have a feeling that some actors were only cast because they were experienced in fighting and choreography for the plentiful action scenes scattered in the film. The romance between Logan and Mariko was unnecessary and felt too forced. The plot becomes a little difficult to follow as we get further into the film and is illogically explained towards the end.

There are plenty of moments that make you scratch your head and make you question what the filmmakers were actually thinking; Wolverine disobeying the laws of physics (on the train), successfully striking the adamantium robot with one clean sweep and then deciding to make it fall over instead of finishing it off, Wolverine not doing anything at all about the multiple arrows being shot into his back and not even looking as if he's running fast enough to escape them and to get to Mariko, the Viper not using her powers immediately when confronted by Yukio, the list goes on.

"The Wolverine" opened with a very good 45 minutes but the remainder of the film gets silly along with both the plot and the characters. Hugh Jackman and his badass Wolverine moments may make this worth the watch but pretty much everything else doesn't.

The continuation of X-Men is even less great than The Last Stand.

Well lets take the good aspects of the film first shall we. The opening scene is awesome, and the CGI is incredible. It also got some highly entertaining action-sequences and cool things. The Wolverine got many defects, and one of them is that it’s a bit brutal for my taste, and it’s very slow and boring at some places. The ending is another thing that totally sucked to watch, so boring (but the end-credit scene is great!). Some of the actors are just the worst, so they could have done that better.

The Wolverine is the less greatest film of all X-Men movies.

The Wolverine get a 6.5/10.

Did it fail? I think it did pretty alright. This was mostly a character driven film with very little plot. It starts off strong with a very emotional and intense scene, but from there the film starts to lose path. The viper chick was a useless character that felt forced into the script in order to have more than two mutants. The Wolverine lacked a villain with strong presence, a plot, and an impactful score especially for a superhero movie. Hugh Jackman is at his best, and at this point it feels as if nobody else can play the legendary comic book character but him. The fight scenes had very good choreography, but the shaky camera made it hard to focus in what was going on. I especially like the train fight scene, even if it did make the eyebrows of every physicist rise. I appreciate this movie because they are at least on the right path to making wolverine movies, which origins failed to accomplish, but I cannot excuse The Wolverine of its empty plot driven solely on the development of one character surrounded by many seemingly empty characters. I like the setting, the characters, the fight scenes and the music, but everything is clumsily executed, some of the characters motivations just feel warped and not explained enough, I admit I don't know much of the wolverine character but has an audience watching this movie I expect to know him better, specially when he is the title character... I didn't felt that much here.

I like the X-Men movies in general and this movie is good; I just don't feel has invested in this movie has I do with the more well though out films of this series...

The lack of any real substance prevents this film from being anything spectacular but what puts it above duds such as the last Wolverine movie is the film actually making Wolverine vulnerable and good effects. The only issue I have is the end credits scene, which while awesome undermine this movie. I can’t help but feel like this whole movie was just a giant filler until the next X-Men movie, which looks awesome, and that nothing in this movie amounts to much. Its just a lot of action with a bunch of characters that aren’t that interesting. There is some bit of character study with Wolverine and his vulernability but it isn’t fleshed out that much. If you want a fun movie to kill some time check it out but if you want you can skip it as there is nothing in this film that makes it mandatory viewing. Again that end credits scene just makes me feel like this movie is tiding me over for a much better movie. Expand

This is how you ruin an amazing character who was part of an amazing franchise. The Wolverine is overly boring, with a ridiculous screenplay, laughable action sequences and awful nonsense villains.

The rest of the film was great! Much better than Origins. Well-paced, character/story driven, with a balancing of awesome action scenes (the train scene in particular). Plus, that setup for Days of Future past during the credits, just ended it on an awesome note. If you haven't seen it yet, and you're worried about the negative remarks from people and the average reviews, don't worry. Just go watch it and see for yourself. I enjoyed it. Plus, it's one of Marvel's better movies, especially after the boring Spiderman reboot and that joke of a "film" Iron Man 3. Expand

The action is great and Hugh Jackman is still perfect as Wolverine. The plot here is also very good even if it does include an almost pointless romance as well as a predictable final plot twist. Overall though it's hard to complain about a superhero movie when the action and special effects are this good. I also really enjoyed the new characters.

It's safe to say that if you are an X-Men or Wolverine fan then you should enjoy this movie. Even as someone who hasn't always enjoyed the X-Men movies I really enjoyed this one. So I find this to be one that is easily recommendable. Do yourself a favor on this one and be sure to watch through the credits.

An entertaining summer action movie. Just don't expect anything else from it.

X Men Origins Wolverine was funnier than this, but The Wolverine is still one of the most amusing movies of 2013.

No I'm not writing a review of a different movie in the wrong place The Wolverine suffers from being unintentionally funny, much like X Men Origins Wolverine.

The acting is half decent and respectable Hugh Jackman surprisingly giving the weakest performance, and the special effects top rate (but what do you expect it's an X Men movie). Those are the only fully positive things I have to say about The Wolverine, with the exception of it not being boring.

While they have good CGI and aren't filmed badly the action scenes are way too overblown and unrealistic to be taken seriously, which is a major problem because there are lots of them. Samurai ninja's appear at one point to kill The Wolverine. Why? Earlier in the movie they just got people with guns to kill Logan, why the sudden change? Oh that's right, because it's set in Japan! I'm not saying it's racist, I'm saying it's a totally reason to put samurai ninja's in the movie. Because nowadays superhero movies are aimed at 4 year olds there isn't a lot of plot, but the very small amount of it is also ridiculous and too unrealistic to take seriously, there is a giant robot samurai suit controlled by a dying old man. End of argument. As for the twist near the end, I didn't see it coming but it's still terrible.

Maybe I'm being too harsh on The Wolverine? Movies like The Rock, White House Down and Undercover Brother have had ridiculous plots and cliched scenes but I have still enjoyed them. That's because they are intentionally flawed and meant to be cheesy, The Wolverine tried and failed to be serious. Hugely disappointing.

HellWow. This film gets so much right, but its biggest achievement is something that no super hero film has done before, whether it be Marvel or DC, is that it manages to stay true to the comics, while also entertaining causal film fans. Hell this film could entertain anybody, whether there action fans, drama fans any fan! It's a definitley risky for Marvel to try something like this, and they have pulled it of amazingly, but the real glue that holds this together is Jackman's preformance. Now we all know its always been good, but this time he takes it to a whole new level. He's dark, thematic, serious and engaging, with such good character development. It's a shame that some of the other character aren't as well developed. Despite this they are incredibly well acted. On par with the acting is the directing, which never feels out of place. Another spectacular feat it manages to accomplish is that it balances the substance and the action, nether letting one out way the other. But the one thing that ultimately kills this film for me is its extremely awful ending. Any fan will agree! It's anti-climactic, lazy, go's away from the comics and has some of the worst CGI I have ever seen! If only that ending wasn't here, I reckon think this film could of easily got a nine, maybe even a ten, but I can't forgive that ending. Expand

I really enjoyed all of the X-Men based movies, great fun, great stories and great action everything required for a few hours of popcorn escapism.
Well The Wolverine takes all that, scrunchies it into a ball and chucks it in the bin.

Nonsense from start to finish, more lazy incoherent writing from the mass-producing Hollywood clowns.
It's all about the bucks and nothing to do with the audience, I mean do the producers and writers actually watch the tripe before they dish it out to the public?? On this evidence, I think not.
