I can't tell whether this movie is actually good or bad for the life of me. Sure, it's technically a sh*tty romantic drama, but what about the enigma of the... thing known only by his Earth name, Tommy Wiseau? What about the thousands uponI can't tell whether this movie is actually good or bad for the life of me. Sure, it's technically a sh*tty romantic drama, but what about the enigma of the... thing known only by his Earth name, Tommy Wiseau? What about the thousands upon thousands of folklorish tales that surround The Room's mere existence? And so few lines uttered in all of cinematic history have such unique recognition as "You are tearing me apart, Lisa!"

This, along with Troll 2, is one of the few movies that blurs the line between what's "bad" and what's "good". I can't even score the f*cking thing. Does it deserve a 0? Or a 10?

I'm not giving this movie an 8 because this movie is good; no no no no no. This movie is WAAAY far from good. The reason why I am giving this movie an 8, is because this movie tries so hard to be a drama, but it comes off as a melodrama, with hilariously bad acting, dialogue, and a few scenes are so memorable for being notoriously bad:

The Flower Shop Scene:

"Uh hi can I get a dozen red roses please?"
"Oh hi Johnny I didn't know it was you."
"Here you go."
"That's me."
"How much is it?"
"It'll be $18-"
"Here you go keep the change. Hi doggie."
"You're my favorite customer."
Thanks a lot bye."

And then the Rooftop Scene:

"I did not hit her it's not true. It's **** I did not hit her. I deed NAAAT...oh hi Mark!"

This movie was so horrible, that it's amazing! I hated it so much and it was so badly made, that it goes up there in the best worst movies! Granted, my favorite experience in a movie theater was when me and my best friend and his friends watched The Room in a packed theater, and we all just made fun of the film. But let's be honest: everything about this movie falls flat on its face.

The acting is some of worst I have ever seen because the actors aren't talented in anyway, but their performances make this film special in every way. This is because the bad performances are entertaining to watch and that makes this film special, this film is so bad it's good. This is a film which I recommend people watch because it's interesting but in a good way, but I won't give this film a positive score because of how bad this film is, however please do watch this film.… Expand

Yesterday I watched 'The Room' (2003) so I could then watch 'The Disaster Artist' (2017 - 6/10, Franco's Wiseau impersonation was neither 100% accurate or a hilarious caricature) and then maybe 'Room Full Of Spoons' (2016/2020, documentary - but maybe Wiseau's been ridiculed enough).
This film is so bad it's become cult viewing, yet the overall plot will be familiar to most people despite it being a subject rarely covered by mainstream movies. It's like they've filmed the looping neurotic daydream thoughts of a cuckolded man, hence several lines and ideas are repeated and much of it is illogical or doesn't really fit. The script sounds like it was written by an 8 year old - an 8 year old monkey. Tommy Wiseau's acting is as though he has brain damage, or is heavily sedated with anti-psychotic drugs. Alternatively, like an android that's failed the Turing Test. The other actors weren't quite as bad, but with their lines and Wiseau's direction it's hard to be sure if they're actual professionals or not. Terrible film with many illogical moments, but somehow still feels more real and relevant than most films. The audio and video quality is largely okay, and the music actually wasn't too bad, plus there's a few soft-core sex scenes - if you think that's a redeeming feature. 3/10.… Expand

Every line and scene has so much care and effort put into it that it easily puts so many movies that have come out in the past decade at shame. The character writing is outstanding and every line feels so genuine and carries so much emotional weight. With and all star cast with fantastic actors like Greg Sestero and Juliette Danielle just to name a few. The story is marvelous feet in story telling, with a complex narrative which will keep you guessing, with cliff hangers and a surprising ending (Which is the most emotional ending in all of film) makes this easily the best movie of all time.… Expand

There is a common opinion that this movie is trash, but why? It is totally watchable even in a serious way and also successfully brings it's main idea from the plot outline. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm giving this movie a 10 based on the enjoyment of the film. Not the quality. It has so much passion and charm Tommy wiseau put his all into this film and it shows. It is often hilarious and the only parts that I dont really enjoy are all the pointless sex scenes where hes having sex with Lisa belly button. But this movie has been in my lifet for the past ten tears and was introduced to me through a friend and we would have midnight screenings at my house water bottles, spoons. Etc.i miss this bond it gave my friends and I. Although i no longer hang out with any of them this movie was a piece of the fabric which held my friends together. Thank you tommy wiseau for all the good times.… Expand

This masterpiece is worth watching even by yourself. I would recommend actually watching it before going to a viewing party so you can really enjoy the comradery.

I first saw the room when I was a kid in around 2010-ish, at night. I'm gonna break character for this review. It is a so bad it's good movie that is absolutely beautiful in what a disaster-piece bad film it is out of no where.

This is by far and away the greatest movie i have ever seen. It is perfect from every aspect, visuals, writing, plot, characters, acting, story, and will keep your eyes glued to the screen and your heart pumping throughout the entire thing. This movie is genuinely a comedic masterpiece! The acting is so top-notch and some of the scenes are suspenseful! I showed the movie to some of my friends and we had a blast! I highly recommend this film!

I have seen a lot of bad movies, some have novelty value, some are guilty pleasures and some are downright atrocious. As inept and as appalling as The Room is, for me it belongs in the unintentionally funny/complete train wreck category. TheI have seen a lot of bad movies, some have novelty value, some are guilty pleasures and some are downright atrocious. As inept and as appalling as The Room is, for me it belongs in the unintentionally funny/complete train wreck category. The film in my opinion is quite badly made. The settings are dull in the lighting and feel very limited and overly-compact, while the cinematography and editing are some of the worst I've seen in a while. The music feels jumpy and doesn't fit with some scenes, while apart from one classic "I feel like I'm sitting on an atomic bomb waiting for it to go off" the dialogue is inane and painfully cheesy, the story is thinner than a sewing thread, the direction is one of the most inept directing jobs I've encountered in recent years and the film in its pace is painfully slow in many spots. The acting is also atrocious from everybody involved. Tommy Wiseau is a big reason why The Room is so bad, he shows little talent for writing or directing, while his acting fares even worse as I can't remember a single moment where he didn't make me cringe. All in all, a truly inept film, might have some novelty value, but even that can't hide how appalling The Room is. 1/10 Bethany Cox… Expand
