In the end, The Mule is essentially a straightforward, somewhat overextended crime story enlivened by its uniquely grotesque circumstances (based on a true story, as noted at the beginning), and directed by Mahony in a lean, no-frills style that’s entirely convincing where it counts. You know this is a typical Clint Eastwood movie, with a lot of human drama. What I didn't understand was, that the DEA had such an effort only to catch the driver (?!). This doesnt' make sense in any way if you catch only a 90 years old driver instead of the whole cartel. wtf
