While it's darker and scarier than its predecessor, with more realistic-looking animatronic dinosaurs, however it doesn't capture that magic and spark of the first film, which was what made it so great.

I was born at the perfect time for this franchise to rock my world. Growing up, kids had dinosaur toys and played dinosaur games. My taste in cars is still influenced by this movie. I hear about critics digging into this film all the time andI was born at the perfect time for this franchise to rock my world. Growing up, kids had dinosaur toys and played dinosaur games. Jurassic Park 2 was an average movie and unnecessary sequel. This movie didn't have charm, originality and grasping power like the original.

The concept was same as original with some bad changes. The problem was that the execution of theJurassic Park 2 was an average movie and unnecessary sequel. This movie didn't have charm, originality and grasping power like the original.

The concept was same as original with some bad changes. The problem was that the execution of the idea was not good. Also, the acting wasn't that good. It was normal. I also missed the original cast. Movie relied on spiciness in story and not on actual story.

Overall, this is an average movie which I think should not have been made as it effected the classiness of the original.… Expand

The cinematography looked lazy and tacky, this looked so rushed and the acting in it does not seem realistic, unlike the original this does not seem suspenseful. The story and music just seems like a repeat of the original

As a lifelong fan of the original Jurassic Park, I have to admit that The Lost World outdoes its predecessor in some of the best possible ways. I remember seeing this movie in theaters as a kid and being utterly blown away. My biggestAs a lifelong fan of the original Jurassic Park, I have to admit that The Lost World outdoes its predecessor in some of the best possible ways. I remember seeing this movie in theaters as a kid and being utterly blown away. My biggest complaint with the original Jurassic Park was that it didn’t have enough dinosaurs, and that was something we were made acutely aware of with the fantastic line of toys modeled after various species never featured in the movie. Fortunately The Lost World doesn’t waste any time in remedying that complaint. This movie’s first act climaxes with a scene that manages to surpass the terror and grandeur of the original film’s encounter with the Tyrannosaurus Rex. You could say the scene in The Lost World is twice as scary! ;) Spielberg once again demonstrates his mastery of film directing in an encounter that will keep your heart pounding and leave you on the edge of your seat for a good 20 minutes. This was made possible with some truly incredible practical effects and supplemented with CGI that not only holds up to this day in 2022, but frankly makes the current Jurassic World trilogy look like a joke. Industrial Light & Magic really knew what they were doing when it came to producing CGI creature physics that look natural. Nowadays every monster movie has creatures that are bouncing off the walls and running around like they’re on their fifth day of a hard coke binge. It’s so over-the-top and badly lit that none of it appears natural. Jurassic Park & The Lost World really put them all to shame. The thrills only continue from there, however Spielberg never manages to surpass the excitement of that initial first act’s climax, commonly dubbed “The Trailer Scene”. You’ll hear many people complain about the latter half of this movie and their criticism is somewhat warranted. There’s a cringeworthy “gymnastics” scene that really sets the tone for what’s to come in the movie’s final hour. The first half is set on Isla Sorna and feels like a true sequel to the original film in both appearance and spirit. But eventually our characters leave the island and end up in San Diego where things quickly devolve into a generic monster movie that resembles the Jurassic World trilogy far more than the original Jurassic Park. Certain aspects of the final act don’t make any sense and it’s clear that this portion of the story had been rewritten once or twice. Come to find out that the San Diego sequence was never meant to be in The Lost World and was actually intended for the third Spielberg film that never came. Nevertheless, it’s still an exciting experience you don’t want to miss out on. To be honest, The Lost World is my favorite out of the entire Jurassic franchise.… Expand

This sequel is really over-hated and seemingly underrated. It is not as good as the first film but is by far one of the most fun to watch sequels of the Jurassic saga.

The return of Ian Malcolm as the lead role probably increases the film's rating by a whole star on its own, but that's not to say the other cast members aren't great. Nick Van Owen is a great character, Kelly is great and Roland Tembo is a great 'villain' ?? I do not know what he classes as but by the end of the movie he seems to be on the same page as our protagonists, either way, he is great in this movie.

The dinosaurs look just as great as they did in the original and the inclusion of new dinosaurs is great for the viewing experience. This film doesn't necessarily need to exist but for what it attempts I think it does a great job. As a kid I loved the San Diego Tyrannosaurus attack and even on rewatch I still love that sequence. It is a fun movie, not necessarily the best, but great entertainment!… Expand

Definitely not a good follow-up to Jurassic Park. Although I'm glad Jeff Goldblum came back, this movie just falls flat.
