I'm stunned... how can such a great movie get such poor reviews from the critics?!! This movie is an emotional powerhouse: it's hugely funny, thought-provoking, moving, smart... what else? Gag laden is not a word I would use, but this film definitely is one of my favourites as it shows you that the British know how to make things interesting, by sticking a devout Muslim who is surrounded by strict Muslims into a situation which would make any Muslims or Jews hair stand on end!Gag laden is not a word I would use, but this film definitely is one of my favourites as it shows you that the British know how to make things interesting, by sticking a devout Muslim who is surrounded by strict Muslims into a situation which would make any Muslims or Jews hair stand on end! A great story which keeps on track and supplies a great twist at the end, it also gives you one hell of an apatite to go and find out more about your background. The film does have endless gags which make you not want to laugh but cringe, like the Jew scene where Omid Djalili starts hearing the word 'Jew' coming from his families mouths, and then he rises into a Jewish death camp uniform. These can be tense but underneath it all the film proves that you can tun even the most tense subjects into a great movie.… Expand

Lightweight comedy poking fun at the divide between Jews and Moslems. The film is more of a comment on Jewish tastes and is at its best when Omid Djalili is allowed free reign. There is more than enough sentimentality for a whole trilogy of Infidels and despite being well designed there is an obvious lack of perspective. This is disappointing as the groundwork has been laid well but nothing is built on top and therefore feels unnecessarily hollow. Still enjoyable for fans of Omid Djalili because he is a star. 6/10 61/100… Expand
