The acting was brilliant and the production was perfect, but the plot of The Illusionist is too cliched. If this movie was made with fewer special effects, then the not-so-twist ending might have been more forgivable.

Good story with some surprises. I like how they created the old Vienna during the monarchy time and the intelligent dialogues.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Illusionist is a captivating movie that grabs your attention from the get go, the reason I give it a 10/10 is because is one of those movies that if you like it the first time you see it, you would LOVE it the second time as the Illusionist would provide a twist at the end, my favorite kind of endings. The Illusionist is a must see thriller that fires on all cylinders.

This film has a good plot, although I think the so-called twist is quite obvious and the love story is a bit forced. I should mention that the sets are beautiful.

Historical drama. Edward Norton's magician discovers his childhood friend is in line to marry Rufus Sewel's aggressive prince. An intruging tale unwinds amid carefully arranged photography. Rewards watching again and again.

They say the hand is faster than the eye, right? Period drama, with hints of romance, that requires a lot of attention as a viewer not to lose details, which are truly surprising. The performances of Norton and Giamatti are a separate mention.

Separated in their youth, they will be reunited years later, but she is engaged to the cruel Crown Prince. When she appears dead, the magician will do everything he can do for the Prince to be investigated.

The first thing I must say is a warning: this story is totally fiction, although it has been made on a historical background. The Austrian prince of this film never existed. Now let's continue... When I first started watching the movie I realized one thing: it's pleasant, entertaining and the main characters are good enough to make the public feel emotions about them. The audience will probably like the magician and the duchess but will also quickly feel angry for the prince. This mix of emotions links the audience more strongly to the screen and will hold their attention until the end. However, the ending was what surprised me the most, since I was hardly expecting anything more, but when the movie seems to be over, the final part truly begins. Edward Norton was quite convincing in the character of the impassioned illusionist, as well as Rufus Sewell and Paul Giamatti. Jessica Biel also looked good, although her character didn't have the same presence of the male cast. In short, this film is very interesting and is really well done. It undoubtedly deserves to be watched and I am sure it will please almost any audience.

Beautiful cinematography, wonderful acting, and a delightful, atmospheric splendor of a movie; a romance in full bloom. I was enchanted and it's a movie that I will not forget too soon. There's no illusion here. This is the real deal.
