The Fault in our Stars is a faithful companion to its source material with emotion delivered through a small tale of love. It truly outshines it's faults with its stars, literally.

"You don't get to choose if you get hurt in this world but you do have a say in who hurts you... And I like my choices": what you learn is the possibility of having someone at your side no matter what, and it is obviously cliché, but that is how relationships work and develop. There will be always the hope of finding the right person.

At last, it was okay... Okay.

The Fault in our Stars was okay. It was somewhat different than the book, only because it is made from a different company than the movies mentioned in the book.

But this refreshingly love story is one of the most beautiful things I ever seen in 2014. It's wise, funny (occasionally) and well handed by a good performance from Shailene Woodley. The script also tries to avoid clichés and partly succeeds at it. The movie sometimes veers into schmaltzy territory but it's crafted with pure sensitivity that is tough to resist. Expand

The movie is awesome. Ansel Elgort give to the movie the humor, and hide the sadness. Shailene is very pretty and make the fil awesome. I can't forget the sountrack that is awesome too, with Charlie XCX and Ed Sheeran. It's an awesome movie.

The movie shines from two young actors who brought performances very few young people have. It’s a heart-wrenching story with an ending that will leave your breathless for a long time, but with a warm heart and a love story from two young people that will make you say wow. And although I myself didn’t shed a tear (I know, real cold-hearted), just expect the water-works to flow as you embark on Hazel and Gus’ journey together. Expand

I find that this movie is very moving because it gives us a beautiful lesson of life with an amazing music selected to touch more the audience.

Quite frankly, I'm not espacially fan of romantic stories but I encourage you to see this movie particulary touching, firstly because it's inspired from a true story and secondly the main characters ( Ansel Elgort is Augustus Water and Shailene Woodly is Hazel Grace Lancaster ) are played by young actors. Moreover, Hazel's disease reveals a very captivating strong nature.

If you liked « The fault in our stars » you can find these two actors in « Divergente », a totally different movie but equally catchy.

Entertaining romance movie was made beautifully. Although I didn't cry at the end and was just like "oh, okay", the movie was still fun to watch. This is a good "date movie".

It tried so hard to make us have sympathy towards the characters, and it worked beautifully. The plot is developed to be cliched, but the director was able to create every scene like it was original, which was astonishing. It had me in tears and it's a film I definitely will never forget.

This review is for the extended version which is actually just a touch better because like the book it's not afraid to show a little bit more truth of the situation. This teen weeper is about a young woman named Hazel played by an always strong Shailene Woodley (The Descendants) whose had cancer since she was young. She tries to deal with stuff as realistically as possible even when she meets hunky, swoon worthy Gus played by charming Ansel Elgort (Baby Driver) in a star making performance. They have great chemistry and he pushes her boundaries giving her somewhat of a new lease on life. Initially I was more moved by the parents story and their amazing performances by Laura Dern (Jurassic Park) and Sam Trammel ( True Blood). I still felt like that was very strong but with the extra footage I was really enamored with the central relationship. Although I'm 40 I really felt their story and was even more affected by it's tragic outcome. Funny, sad and powerful Fault is one of the best weepers of all time.

An adaptation that matches the book in tone, pace and quality. John Greens YA terminal love story was an epic hidden in the understated normalcy of long phone calls, dates, declarations. Boones direction highlights the source materials best qualities and prioritizes the sentimental. This makes a movie that largely revolves around Grace&Waters. Shaileen is wonderful as Hazel Grace giving an understated performance as the stage 4 patient, navigating the confusion, anger and loss it would entail. Augustus Waters is played by Ensel Algort ,a charismatic cancer patient who is instantly infatuated with hazel Grace. Overall fault in our stars is a well made concise tragic love story that leaves me satisfied every time. Expand

But past its surface, this is a heartfelt, poetic movie that is unafraid of balancing hyper-sentimentality with extremely mature themes. Shailene Woodley, Ansel Elgort and Willem Dafoe utterly steal the show in this film - the former two, in particular, manage to exude charm and personality that defies expectations. I would even argue that the three actors greatly elevate what easily could have otherwise ended up as mediocre, sappy tripe to unprecedented heights. The Fault In Our Stars captured my heart. While it has some very trace elements that keep it from being a perfect 10 out of 10, this is a powerful movie about grief, love, impermanence, and hope that I believe does its source material justice.
