Great sci-fi horror that puts some pieces together. If it's not the best, well, darn, but still engrossing and thrilling and taken as a whole adds to one of the best franchises out there.

But, you have to pay attention in this one or you'll miss important details! It DOES explain the other movies. In my opinion, the frequent poor reviews stem from the viewer's ignorance about particle accelerators, lack of attention to details, and inability to see this movie as science fiction. It was easy to miss dialog that was important to understanding the movie. Don't be embarrassed to turn on captioning. It helps! I use it for every movie I watch.

I'm not sure why critics do not understand the tie-ins to the previous movies. The writer clearly states that the particle accelerator is 1000x more powerful than any ever built. Not 2x, not 100x. My point being, the writer created the perfect basis for chaos being unleashed ... including chaos in time ... which is even mentioned as a potential side-effect in the movie. If you can't accept that, which I'm not saying that's what happened, you're not accepting that you're watching a sci-fi movie--and you're still trying make it fit within your understanding of particle accelerators today.

Another criticism I've seen is that the astronauts/scientists (or whatever they were called) were too immature and acting irrationally to be on a space station. Again, I don't think the critics are paying close enough attention to what is actually going on in the movie and are still trying to compare it to the way they understand the world today. Things were desperate on Earth ... and they were also running out of time. Countries were at each other's throats and looking out for their own interests. So, you can expect that these scientists (representing those countries) might be as well.

I like seeing things I've never seen before in movies. You'll see some of that.

Loved the soundtrack too. Intense!

Not sure what's up with the poor critic score, but the so-called "critics" have discredited themselves before numerous times, so whatever.

From the pros - it has a nicely convoluted sci-fi plot; good suspense; overall decent acting and some nice references to the first Cloverfield movie.

As for the cons, the main one is that the movie drops the bar towards its end. The tenseness and intrigue die down, and most of the characters start doing increasingly dumb things, especially the "British" woman. She, while being given the most screen time, is the most annoying character of all with uneven acting and unconvincing family drama. Also, you can tell that the scenes on Earth were added later in production mainly to tie the movie to the "Cloververse", as they're largely redundant and don't add much to the plot.

So, while it could have been better, the Cloverfield Paradox is still quite good and it's a neat surprise that it has come out out on the same day as the trailer.

Abram's produced (of the three, his name is the one often linked) CLOVERFIELD presented a new take on the semi-dormant Kaiju genre. There are many detractors, but I'm not one of them. I unapologeticly love the found-footage, viewed-from-the-ground monster flick. Eight years later, 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE (directed by Dan Trachtenberg) proved to be one of the most tense experiences I've ever had in the theater, and remained to be my favorite horror film of 2016. Like the second entry, THE CLOVERFIELD PARADOX can stand on its own although being familiar with the 2008 film helps. THE CLOVERFIELD PARADOX, previously titled THE GOD PARTICLE was originally set for release this past weekend on February 2nd. A few weeks back, it vanished from the schedule to tentatively appear in April with some rumblings of a possible Netflix pick-up. This was confirmed with an ad during the Super Bowl. Due to rumors, the Netflix deal wasn't a big surprise: but it's release date was. Tonight. February 4th, immediately after the game finished. So of course, I jumped at the chance to watch it after the Eagles win. Judging from my facebook feed, many of my friends did so too. The story this time is one of my favorite set-ups: hell unleashed upon a space ship. ALIEN (coming this May to Tacoma's Friday Night Frights), EVENT HORIZON (literally), and SUNSHINE (criminally underrated) among others. This one concerns a space-station attempting to create a Higgs-Bosun and use that to create unlimited energy to end a crisis on earth. This happens before the first CLOVERFIELD, so apparently that world was much more advanced and on the edge of crisis than the 20somethings let on. But then again, they're more concerned for the party than world-building before it all goes to **** so that's cool. Being a sci-fi/horror film, this doesn't go well when the experiment finally succeeds. It's been two years, and three previous attempts, so personal tensions are already running high before things go sideways. With this set-up, one can predict many of the plot points that are expected to occur. This is true to a certain degree - there are some welcome unexpected changes, but director Julius Onah keeps the tensions high with well chosen and framed shots. We have paranoia, system malfunctions, possible sabotage and some wonderful moments of body horror. However, some parts of the horror aren't really followed up on, existing only for a "ooh, what's this" moment like a possibility of a space ghost - not the absurdist talk show version, but the opening doors and moving stuff around type. But they all work in the moment, both in increasing the mystery and in providing shocks. It helps the script by Oren Uziel and Doug Jung presents likeable and written-well-enough characters. Some are given more to do and more backstory than others but everyone gives enough life (hey, that's the name of a space-station horror film from 2017!--that one starts strong and fizzles as it goes) to make them both memorable and not-interchangeable. The cast is a selection of international actors led by Gugu Mbatha-Raw. As Hamilton, she gives a solid emotional anchor to the chaos erupting around her. Also on board are David Oyelowo (SELMA), DANIEL BRUH (CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR), ZIYI ZHANG (who should have been a star after CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON), Elizabeth Debicki (GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL 2), John Ortiz, and Aksel Hennie. Let's not forget Chris O'Down providing comic relief. The viewer cares for each and are taken in as they are forced to face down the horror of their situation. The portion that doesn't quite work is cutting away to Earth, where Hamilton's husband attempts to survive is own ordeal. While it reminds us of Hamilton's struggle, it often undercuts the drama in space. I applaud NETFLIX for approaching the release of the film in the way they did. Usually the combination of critically unscreened film, delayed from a theatrical release with little to no advertisement all add up to something to avoid. But that's not the case. NETFLIX is showing the power of word of mouth and just simply knowing they have a great product on their hands. Of course, putting an ad during the Super Bowl possibly informs more people than a standard marketing blitz, but it still shows faith in the film. Do what just about everyone else is doing, go in blind and be swept along. Expand

There's an interesting story, classic 90's nostalgic scenes, drama, and even comedy. The comedy can often be odd and feel out of place while taking a lot from a certain classic cult horror movie, but it succeeds in breaking up the excessive drama and tension. The movie also adds a decent explanation for the greater Cloverfield universe.

The more I think about the movie, the more I want to watch it again. It doesn't quite feel like a big budget blockbuster, but it feels like one of those TV movies that sticks in your head and could quickly stir up a cult following.

so of course there are a lot of universes with an earth with total different inhabitants. (the "monsters" from movie one and the "aliens" from movie two)
due to the shepard several universes crashed together and many things are drawing together resulting in the strange things happening at the space station. (and on earth as you can see in the other 2 movies)
its impossible for a human to foreknow all possibilities happening in different universes so they just refer to it as chaos because of the human disability to understand it. but of course its not chaos, if you could see all the other universes and their parameters, everything would make totally sense, but they dont show you that on the movie.
so people are confused. and rate this a bad movie. but its not.
i would like to explain everything a little bit more detailed but im not a native english speaker, sorry.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It baffles me why all those professional critics who call this movie a nonsense don't hold a star wars or superhero nonsense to the same standard? To any hard core scifi fan this movie is not too bad attempt to tackle really hard questions regarding a real nature of our world, that is to large extend still a big unknown. This is what collision of parallel universes should be like - chaotic, incomprehensible, sometimes even comical. The time - past, present and future shouldn't make sense anymore and causality is abandoned. This is the world the physicist see and kudos to anyone who tries to convey that incomprehensible reality in a blockbuster movie. Overall the movie is, like modern physics, grossly misunderstood, so if you're a hard core scifi fan and know who Assimov, Lem, Le Guin are, you should give it a go, and don't mind pro critics who can't handle anything that doesn't play games or pays homage to their predefined and static ideas of genres and subgenres. Throw out casuality, throw in space-time continuum and they're all lost. Just like a good sci fi literature it presents interesting moral dilemmas, like should I choose a better path of parallel reality, should I interfere with it. It creates great causality mess out of two engineers who are their own replacements in different realities but have to handle the consequences of their personal collision plus parallel existence on earth as younger version of self. It reminds me one of the short stories from Lem's Star Diaries, where Ijon Tichy gets trapped with his ship into time loop and tries to repair it getting a hand from different version of himself. Overall the movie is not a 10/10, it has too many ideas thrown in and they're not all being developed as they could, a few loose ends but is still a very enjoyable experience and a solid scifi. As a Netflix release it's a decent film but, but just when it was angling towards Event Horizon greatness it veered of course became mundane and predictable. We get a sum total of one monstrous shadow part-way in and one unfeasibly large monster in the closing 2 seconds; but otherwise it's even less 'Cloverfield' than the 2nd film. First on how I judge movies, if I enjoy them at least purely from entertainment point I vote 7, if I am indifferent about them 5 and intra/extrapolete the rest yourself.

This movie I enjoyed solely on the grounds of how bizarre and unpredictable it is. It has the production value, looks and feels of A movie, but ... plot is not the word I am looking for, because for plot you need at least somewhat linear narrative, but that is not what is happening here. But again that is not necessarily bad. This movie reminds me of life. Not the movie Life, actual life.
There is a plan right, you want to accomplish something. And you do your best, but then life happens and the "plot" of your life shifts, it no longer follows the original plan, but still it progresses, and then another thing happens and another and another. Suddenly you have to be reminded of what was original plan because you are dealing with something else entirely.

This is the feel I got from this movie. Sometimes funny, (hilarious even thank you Chris O'Dowd), sometimes drama (thanks Daniel Brühl) and sometimes borderline psychological horror. It is not focused enough to be a fluid movie experience but in my opinion it is still worth the look.

This made me especially eager, given what a huge fan I am of the Cloverfield films and their ever-so secretive marketing, as well as the numerous delays and release date changes this third installment has suffered. Well, all that and the fact that this went to Netflix rather than be distributed to theaters via Paramount like the previous two films were should've been some red flags for me from the get go, cause while this managed to be entertaining and intriguing often times, it was a bit of a disappointment on all other fronts, especially in relation to it's connection to the Cloverfield anthology. While it did partially succeed in somewhat cleverly bridging a few gaps between the other films here and there, the rest of it felt like simply a jumbled and confusing mess. The talented cast (consisting of Daniel Bruhl, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, David Oyelowo, Elizabeth Debicki, and Chris O'Dowd to name a few) made do with what they were given to work with, cause to be fair to them, they did this film before it was reworked into a Cloverfield film, much like how the previous film 10 Cloverfield Lane was made. And not to spoil too much, but also much like 10 Cloverfield Lane, really the only connection to Cloverfield that this film had didn't really occur until the very end, and even that ended up being rather ridiculous and quite literally last-minute. Overall, it's simply fine when looked at as a sci-fi adventure film, but those looking for deeper and further connections into Cloverfield kinda like I was would really be getting their hopes up. Definitely the weakest link yet in this so-called connected anthology of Cloverfield films yet. Expand

I can't say that it did anything especially well or in an especially original way, but it still came together to be a decent film. I love that it wasn't just more of the same as the first Cloverfield and that all of the films so far are connected in varied and interesting ways that you might miss if you aren't paying attention. I noticed tons of easter eggs throughout my watch and I'm surprised when people complain about something that was actually addressed by those things. All in all it was a decent film. I can't say it was in any way exceptional or that I'd watch it again, but it was fun and had a decent pace and always kept me wondering. 7/10 Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

The Cloverfield Paradox is a movie that houses a lot of really good ideas, but unfortunately the conversion is not quite as good as it could have been.
The atmosphere is cool, the characters interesting, the main plot in itself very interesting, but somehow missing something ...
You now know where the Cloverfield Monster comes from, you know its origin ... or not, I would rather tap on the latter, the creators of the film give you a lot of food to think about, but I like that.
With The Cloverfield Paradox you can spend a relaxing movie night.
And for all fans of Cloverfield at least some light is brought into the dark, I liked it and I'm looking forward to more stuff from the Cloverfield universe.

As a movie that exists to explain the first Cloverfield, this is merely serviceable. But the themes it deals with, the plot, and the characters are all why I'm here. Without getting too heavily into spoilers, there are similarities to Alien where most of the action takes place on a space station. But the movie goes beyond being simply a space monster flick and deals more in shades of grey than I first expected it to. It's tempting to view the actions of certain characters as evil, but all of the motivations are believable and things play out in a really cool way. Also, how cool is it that this was announced and released on the same day? I didn't even have to get up from the couch after #TheBigGame. Except to pee. Anyway, I'd recommend this to fans of sci-fi. It's less horror than the previous movie so don't expect a ton of scares, or for the filmmakers to answer all the questions you have about the larger fictional universe/multiverse. Expand

While i understand peoples reservations about the split story being a little one sided and the logic for what is trying to be a really smart film being a little flawed its probably worth remembering that both of the other films werent exactly set in scientific fact, its just more obvious as this film tries to be smarter.

Overall if you are a scifi fan you should enjoy this film. Great nod to Alien and Event.

Just like everyone's been saying, The Cloverfield Paradox is definitely the weakest of the Cloverfield trilogy falling far short of the excellent first two films. Not terrible, just weak. WhileJust like everyone's been saying, The Cloverfield Paradox is definitely the weakest of the Cloverfield trilogy falling far short of the excellent first two films. Not terrible, just weak. It doesn't feel like a Cloverfield film either. While the past two movies differed significantly in their plots, they did match in tone with their combination of suspense, horror, and some comedy. This film feels like it was trying to too hard to be Black Mirror. Seriously, the film has a very produced by the BBC or another British channel feel to it. When they used the Cloverfield font for the opening credits, tonally it feels completely alien to what is on screen. The biggest weakness is the plotting. The exposition, why they are up in the space ship trying to create the God Particle, the risks of the Particle, the energy crisis back on Earth, and the character introductions, go by super quickly without any one getting a firm grip on what's going on. Things settle down and become more manageable once the major threat occurs on the ship, but even then when they try to scientifically explain what's going on or how to stop it, it's not the easiest to swallow.

A major mistake of this film was to try to tie into the plot of the first Cloverfield movie. 10 Cloverfield Lane didn't tie in and it didn't need to. I so wish it was the same here. The entire subplot takes place on Earth away from the space station and feels like an entirely different movie. It is dull and aimless. It doesn't help that it follows the husband character, who's the most boring of the cast.

On the plus side, the film does creepy weird stuff very well. When the s--- hits the fan, is when I started being entertained. The other strong part is the story of the main character, Hamilton. It is the only fully-fleshed part of the film. Hamilton is a relate-able woman with a tragic past. You emphasize with her and understand her actions. Gugu Mbatha-Raw plays the part wonderfully.

The other characters don't play so well. They're sort-of one-dimensional with very weak dialogue. The acting isn't much better. Thing is I don't blame the actors. Almost the entirety of the cast, are well-accomplished. I'm personally a fan of Steve Bruhl. The fact that none of them can deliver speaks on the direction. There is one joke involving Kansas. The joke of itself was funny, but the way it was delivered was poorly done that it robbed the joke of all humor.

The set design of the spaceship is distinctive and eye-catching. I especially like the exterior, which is something I haven't seen before. The inside of the ship can be a bit busy visually, though. Makes it hard to focus sometimes.

I really liked the end credits theme, which is from the same guy who did the theme for 10 Cloverfield Lane. The only part that feels like the previous movies, this instrumental continues the tradition of bombastic moodiness.

Again, I wouldn't say this is a bad film. Heck, I could watch it again sometime off in the future. It is just disappointing. The Cloverfield Paradox is one of those films that comes so close to being a good film. Where you can clearly see what could have been fixed. Beneath a weakly directed film is a unique story trying to get out.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's a good movie, but it could have been way better. The Cloverfield Paradox wastes a good cast in some dumb situations, where characters die only because the uninspired screenplay says so and it's really easy to predict that. Even the visual effects are just a copy of Interstellar (2014) and the movie is just loud. Conclusion, the movie has some flaws, but it's not a bad, despite all of that it's just not as good as the previous installments in this franchise. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Cloverfield Paradox is a good space thriller but a very average Cloverfield film. The cast does a phenomenal job with what they are given which helps elevate this movie past the ok script. I feel like there are some sections that were added in after the fact to help "connect" this to the other Cloverfield movies. However, it seems like this film has made the timelines even more confusing given the introduction of multiple universes. It is cool to see the Cloverfield monster (or monsters) but that doesn't make this movie great. While this movie is a little disappointing, I'm still interested where they go with this franchise. So I kind of feel like I just watched two completely different movies. It started off dark and scary, and at some point it kind of flips a switch and starts to feel a lot like a new Star Trek movie.

This feels like a movie someone took a chance on, the studio maybe got cold feet, and then they brought in Bad Robot to save the day. Stick a vague franchise tag on it, toss in a few easter eggs, and bam! you have a Cloverfield movie.

I appreciate a lot about the movie, but it was just too jarring of a change.

That being said I give this movie a 6 out of 10. It felt like a B movie that hired a lot of well-known actors, not a total waste of time but something I might be upset if I paid money to see in theater. Luckily for me this was a Netflix exclusive so it was a nice little bonus film for having the service. For me this was the weakest entry in the Cloverfield franchise, the film was clearly piggy backing off the success of the previous films without bringing much new to the table. I did like the space setting and the actors worked well with the scripts they had, though they did fall prey to the familiar horror movie tropes. You would think the greatest minds in the world would be a bit more informed on space time theories and paradoxes. It did have a nice little connection to the other films and somewhat offered a vague explanation to the origins of the previous films. If you have Netflix and want a sci fi film to pass the time on a day off, then give it a shot. Just remember, you might be a little let down If you are expecting the same quality as the 1st and 2nd Cloverfield movies. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's hard to say if this movie was made only to explain Cloverfield. It surely does in many ways. They try to turn this story around multi-dimensions and quantum stuff. Yet, for a bunch of scientists they do a poor job explaining it. And somehow this all feels like pseudo and unconvincing science. I loved the actors in general, but some of them are given very little to act on. The fun part was with the unexpected events on the station but it could have been more...why not show those dimensions ? The FX were really good, the action somewhat decent too. The ending was good but predictable. I give it a 60% because the story was lacking in almost every department. Expand

Whenever a Marvel or DC Movie gets announced,we can't help it,but just get excited at it,but most importantly, create whatever expectations we want, and that's great as a fan of a franchise, and that sure is what I did as someone who really liked Cloverfield '08 and 10 Cloverfield Lane.
And I was interested in seeing how the director could handle this mish-mash of a concept, but unfortunately...Yes it's THAT kind of movie.
The Cloverfield Paradox joins movies like Geostorm and The Snowman at being just a movie that wants to do something else rather than telling its own story.
And again, the concept is great, although it is sometimes hard to understand, even if it's done in a really well done montage at the beginning of the movie (like Geostorm).
This isn't saying that the movie is pretty bad (*coff coff* Winchester *coff coff*),because there are some good things in it...Maybe too good for this movie.
The acting and the cast choices are too good to be in this movie, like Gugu Mbatha Raw,who (just like Henson in Proud Mary) seems like if she wanted to do better than this. Same with Elizabeth Debicki and Daniel Oyelowo, who seemed kind of bored trough the entire movie and just wanted to be there for a paycheck. Daniel Bruhl (Rush,MARVEL Studios'Captain America Civil War),who I think is a great actor, really disappointed me with his performance, since he has to be this dude who almost does nothing for the entire movie.
Whoever wrote the story must be a literal Alex Kurtzman fan, since during the movie you could always count on bits of setup for a Cloverfield/Dark Universe thing, instead of telling its own story through scenes that are kind of hard to understand, and yes, even in the logic of a Cloverfield Movie.
Oh,and the teachnicl aspect? Yeah,it's just distracting for the movie, except the ''Alien Covenant'' shot of the movie who I'll save, since it made me happy as a Cloverfield Fan.
But that last shot isn't enough to save this hot mess of a movie. The Cloverfield Paradox will make some fans of the franchise conscious, but if you want a better Sci-Fi Horror flick, just watch Cloverfield '08 and/or 10 Cloverfield Lane, and try seeing bthis for your own "Netflix And Chill"-y risk.

If there is something too obvious when you finish this movie, it's that it was far from being part of Cloverfield's anthology and that is quite clear when the events begin to unfold.

The Cloverfield Paradox cannot help feeling like two different films, probably the fact that the decision to add it to the Cloverfield universe was taken during the filming had a lot to do with it.

The narrative in general is too confusing and the little development that is allowed to the story and the characters is too poor, of all the actors despite being a certainly recognized cast, only Gugu Mbatha-Raw has a dramatic and emotional weight in the plot .
The editing only confuses more and being honest if they had really given more treatment to the script they could have created something more interesting, flashy and dynamic, because the story lent itself to it, it's true that the narrative resource of a dimensional rupture might seem too cliché within the field of Sci-Fi but here there were enough arguments to make it better, especially because of the enormous cult the original movie created and all the questions that left unanswered.

The Cloverfield Paradox apparently ends up giving an origin to the creature of the original film and the ending gives enough material to believe two possible things: or the original creature is still alive or that monster is the mother of that creature and let's say that's why this film will get a lot more validation from the fans.

Unquestionably and ironically the biggest flaw of the film ends up being its connection with the Cloverfield universe because obviously all of it feels forced, like an argumentative and narrative crutch, therefore the film never flows as it should and the real and more interesting mystery gets completely forgotten.

I don't consider it a disappointment, but frankly what it offered did not come anywhere near expectations much less the hype that was unleashed by its unconventional release. It certainly works for Netflix because of the exclusivity but I really hope that if Abrams plans to continue with this, as it seems to indicate Cloverfield: Overlord arriving in October, I hope better stories and honestly he should avoid continuing to give such crumbs of information, because it will work a few times but at that rate the audiences will get fed up.

The movie is a hodgepodge of other sci-fi movies like Alien, Event Horizon, and even recent ones like Life, with some interesting scenes that are never given time to simmer, and the link to the Cloverfield universe is about as shoehorned as you can possibly get. What's worse, the world this movie is in bears almost no resemblance to the one in the original movie. Rather than a sci-fi spectacle it feels more like a mediocre 'Black Mirror' which happened to have a large budget.

While it doesn't deliver anything memorable, it is still enjoyable for fans of the Cloverfield franchise and ties up a few loose ends of the mysteries presented in the other films.

I was so excited when I found out I was going to be able to watch it right after the game. That excitement turned to confusion after I finished the movie. It almost feels like two different movies. One of them I like, the other I don’t. The Acting, the Direction, the score, all of the individual aspects of this movie are great. However, the finished product is a messy, confusing film that almost entirely destroys the Cloverfield continuity. It’s honestly really crazy. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a movie that has so many great aspects, but has no idea how to put them together. A disappointing, but enjoyable film. Expand

They didn't have to worry about losing any money on a film that was rumored to not be that great, and instead they made a guaranteed profit, albeit a small one, from it. Netflix knew exactly what they wanted to do with it, too, as they had a commercial during the Super Bowl that said the film would be on Netflix right after the game. So I bet they got a lot of people to watch it, at least way more than who would have seen it in the theaters. So I watched it, of course, and it's by far the worst film in the franchise. It almost feels like that this was originally a B-level sci-fi movie and they decided to make it into a Cloverfield movie towards the end of production. There's a scene towards the beginning of the movie, that seems pretty shoehorned in, that is the primary tie to the Cloverfield universe. Take that scene out, and the only indicator that this is a Cloverfield movie is the very last scene of the movie (which I won't spoil here). Of course, that could also be said about 10 Cloverfield Lane, but this ain't no 10 Cloverfield Lane. The characters aren't particularly interesting or engaging, and there are a lot of story elements throughout the movie that genuinely do not make sense and are never explained. The story itself had potential, but it never really took off and became the enthralling sci-fi story it could have. There's also some very sloppy editing at times, and I'm pretty sure I shook my head once or twice. But still, despite all of that, the movie is watchable. You're not going to be checking the time every five minutes or feel like completely exiting out of the movie. To me, it's the equivalent of a mediocre episode of Black Mirror. It's not absolutely terrible, but it's not going to impress you, either. Expand

The series I started with the cloverfield movie is now over, I honestly say it was the worst movie in the series of three movies, even worse in the others.
The most interesting series I've seen because they are different from each other in the three movies and merge them together with only small pieces.

I would like to pass on the cloverfield paradox.Actually the movie was very smooth and enjoying the viewing(my most positive thoughts about the movie)
:):)

but it was a lot of ridiculous things, and certainly some events were no longer logical or even impossible for me, so I decided that it was a very ridiculous movie because there were more than one. There were a lot of things that I did not have in my mind I really wondered about some of the events.

I liked it very much in the previous 2 movies but unfortunately I did not like it Movies were good but it was ridiculous, unreasonable and unrealistic I could not write a lot of comments about this movie because I tried to understand the events in many minutes and I always thought in my head that such a thing could be real.
The last scene went well

I did not like this movie but if it comes to the sequel, I run to the cinema and watch it because it is a very valuable series.

This movie, in the end, leaves me with mixed feelings. While the set production was great, the actors were talented, and the CGI was top notch, the script was where things got tripped up.

Much of the story was bogged down in cliches and rushed timing. Characters were not given time to become interesting, and this crew was not given proper time to rationally react to what is happening around them. What results is a plot that feels like it has a lot of missing pieces, and characters that become caricatures.

This is by no means a terrible movie, it just represents a lot of missed potential. Hopefully a fourth film can get this universe back on track, because I love the Cloverfield universe, and definitely want to keep exploring.

While The Cloverfield paradox throws around some interesting ideas, it is sadly a below average sci-fi. Set on a doomed international space station, TCP fails to commit fully to its dramatic, scientific or horror elements instead existing somewhere in between it all feeling hollow as a result. Had it not had the cloverfield attachment I might have expected less going in.

It seems they had the idea to show the catalyst for what we see in the previously released Cloverfield films, both of which I enjoyed thoroughly, but they didn't quite manage to flesh it out enough to make a satisfying feature. The mystery and horror of the first half dissipates completely and leaves us with nothing much exciting to hold onto as the film hobbles to its glaringly obvious conclusion. I wouldn't recommend watching it to be honest but if you're really bored you might find it passable. Expand

The acting ranges from great to just okay, with the standout being Gugu Mbatha-Raw, but that is because she has the most material to work with, everyone else is basically a stock horror cliché when it comes with close containment horror like the Mist, the Thing, and the first Alien film. But that would imply that this movie is scary at all. It does have scares, stock scares, but instead it is just a jumbled film that shifts between different story elements while also connecting to the previous films within the Cloverfield films. From stock horror tropes, to sci-fi thriller, to the "levity" that comes from a misplaced Chris O'Dowd, the movie has no idea what it wants to be and devolves into a tepid slog of different narrative elements that are crammed into one horrid Frankenstein monster with expendable characters that you don't really care much about. The production design is pretty great, but that doesn't save a sloppy script. Expand

Realtalk: this movie was predictable despite its attempts to be "hella random lol ;) ;)". At times it feels like entire exchanges between characters were cut out mid-scene. Characters are level-headed and a second later are suddenly screaming at each other over some super-forced point of drama.

I'm convinced that Netflix bought the rights to this just so they can get people interested in Altered Carbon.
