I'm giving it a 10 out of 10 because people like Mick LaSelle from the san fran chronicle still have a job and a voice.

People can enjoy films that make you think and don't have explosions every three minutes. I enjoyed the acting, the script, the ambiance, and music. With "The Batman," I think they've achieved something really special. The creative leeway they've given Matt Reeves has not only allowed for one of the best looking comic book movies ever made to take shape, but a comic book movie that I can truly say has gotten the closest to distilling the experience of reading a graphic novel down to a cinematic level. The saga at hand is so lushly designed and brilliantly realized, layered with hard-hitting action, vibrant character work and mesmerizing exercises in world-building. The performances are frankly top tier and Michael Giacchino's score is damn near perfect, if not the best thing I've ever heard him do. There's a lot to process here, but the more I think back on it, the more I'm reminded of the things I loved. I felt things watching this that I haven't felt while watching a Batman movie in quite some time. The first and last twenty minutes of this might some of the finest bits of any Batman movie we'll ever get. Simply incredible work and I can't wait to dive into this world again.… Expand

Reeves [Director] has really delivered a fresh and unique touch on a character that has been rebooted over and again with Pattinson defying my expectations in portraying the caped crusader spectacularly.

The dark, gritty, noir tones of theReeves [Director] has really delivered a fresh and unique touch on a character that has been rebooted over and again with Pattinson defying my expectations in portraying the caped crusader spectacularly.

The dark, gritty, noir tones of the movie really set it apart from its predecessors and give us a character that is still grappling with who he is and where he fits into Gothams' tale as a vigilante still learning the ropes.

Seeing Batman lean heavily towards his detective persona really is a refreshing take and keeps true to the true strengths of what makes Batman great. The story really was captivating to watch and held its own without needing to be packed full of action. Reeves used what few action scenes he had really well and managed to deliver a Batman that was truly terrorising when the time called for it and managed to avoid delivering beat downs that were high in ASMR and avoided drowning them in musical scores that we've seen popularized of late. There's nothing quite like seeing Batman slowly slink from the shadows in silent ambience and hearing his fists beating skin to a pulp as his victims scream in terror.

Well done Reeves and Pattinson.… Expand

It’s almost unheard when a franchise first starts off in such a remarkable brilliant manner!!! Few movies that come to mind is The Matrix, Batman Begins, Dune, Terminator etc. and quite remarkably The Batman from Matt Reeves is a masterpieceIt’s almost unheard when a franchise first starts off in such a remarkable brilliant manner!!! Thankfully it’s a question for later on to think about and looking at present without spoiling anything can simply say The Batman is pure brilliance. This doesn’t rely lot in action but on story building. That’s what sets this version apart from equally brilliant Batman Begins. A must watch in big screen preferably in IMAX. This film is the definitive Batman film. The story is thrilling, every punch is felt, Batman's motivations and obsession is clear from the very beginning and it shows us a side to Batman we haven't previously seen, leaning into the psychologyThis film is the definitive Batman film. The story is thrilling, every punch is felt, Batman's motivations and obsession is clear from the very beginning and it shows us a side to Batman we haven't previously seen, leaning into the psychology of his character heavily. His detective skills are also front and centre whilst not taking away from the action you would come to expect from a Batman story. The choreography is the best we've seen out of any existing Batman film, the gadgets are all practical and grounded in reality, the world feels alive and lived in, the acting is also superb throughout. The cinematography and score elevates all of the aforementioned too. My only critiques of the film is the pacing gets awkward toward the later half as it feels like it's going to end in at least 3 different times which takes away from the eventual climax and that it is apparent at times it's being held back by its PG-13 rating. Particularly when characters endure great physical punishment with little to no injury shown afterward. Otherwise it was simply fantastic and easily my favorite Batman film to date. It also leaves room for Batman to grow in the sequels making me all the more keen for the sequels. If you had any doubt before and you've read this, book that ticket now!… Expand

A new Batman movie has appeared in cinemas again and if someone told me ten years ago that I'd be excited for a new Batman movieAlright folks, it's the moment we've been waiting for, well it's definitely the moment I've been waiting for. A new Batman movie has appeared in cinemas again and if someone told me ten years ago that I'd be excited for a new Batman movie starring Robert Pattinson I'd never have believed them. The Batman is right up there as one of the best comic-book movies. No DC movie has been this good since The Dark Knight.

Psychotic serial killer, The Riddler (Paul Dano) sends Gotham into a panicked frenzy when he begins murdering key political figures and leaves cryptic clues for his next victims. Knowing this is just the beginning, Batman (Robert Pattinson) must investigate amongst rampant corruption to find The Riddler before more people are brutally murdered.

Robert Pattinson plays Bruce Wayne like we haven't seen on the big screen before. Riddled with trauma he is desperate to live his life as Batman and abandon Bruce Wayne altogether. Honestly he is in such a mood for the whole film. I'm very happy with how he took on the role. Feck the haters, every time a new Batman movie is in the works the haters emerge from all over to voice their anger towards whoever gets cast in a major role, be it hero or villain. Well Pattinson has come a long way since Harry Potter and Twilight, working alongside directors such as David Cronenberg, Robert Eggers, and Christopher Nolan. The list goes on and now in 2022 he's the Batman. Fair play to him, he completely disappeared into the role.

Director Matt Reeves certainly knew what he was doing when he gathered the cast for The Batman, honestly I was excited for this once I heard Paul Dano would be playing The Riddler, I can think of no better actor who can play that role. He's absolutely mental. Also starring Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, she owns every scene she's in, totally kicking ass. My favourite onscreen portrayal of Catwoman since Michelle Pfeiffer in Batman Returns. We've all seen the pictures of Colin Farrell as The Penguin, completely unrecognisable is an understatement. I have to admit it was hard to imagine an adaptation of The Penguin that would fit the tone of a realistic Batman movie and not end up looking completely ridiculous but this works. Robert Pattinson and Zoë Kravitz have amazing chemistry together, they were both perfect casting. You also have Jeffrey Wright as Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred and John Turturro as the feared mob boss Carmine Falcone. This is what a superhero film should be like, get a director who knows what he's doing, has a clear vision for the film and assemble the cast they want and you end up with thrilling experience that leaves the audience wanting more.

I love the dark and gritty city of Gotham, drenched in rain, gloomy and gothic. Wayne Manor looked like a neglected castle from a Tim Burton movie. The whole tone of the film has a similar feel to it like Nolan's Batman trilogy but with even more violence. Pattinson is perfect for capturing the dark and brooding 'orphan billionaire'. The score by Michael Giacchino is absolutely stunning. Perfectly complimenting the movie in every scene. What more can I say, I absolutely loved it. It's stunning, the cinematography is perfection, the fight scenes and car chases are exhilarating. The scene where the Batmobile makes its roaring entrance was brilliant. The entire cinema loved every minute of it. I'm already dying for a sequel. I cannot wait to see what the combination of Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson will do next.

The Batman definitely feels like more of a psychological crime thriller than a superhero movie. That's not a criticism, I loved the tone of Reeve's Batman. It's giving strong Se7en and The Zodiac Killer vibes. Dano's sadistic portrayal of The Riddler is everything I'd hoped it would be and more. A thrilling reboot that all you comic-book fans need to see. Highly recommended for all the Batman fans.… Expand

This was a 3 hour cinematic master class in how to do the whole series true justice, and I speak as a lifelong batman fan who has been waiting for a story that they failed to tell for years. Dark Knight Trilogy was good, but this stands up to Burton's works as timeless. I speak as a fan, this movie was a love letter from Matt Reeves to the true fans, and I could tell he himself was a fan to take this level of care in crafting a superhero detective story with multiple twists and turns.… Expand

You’ll know what I’m talking about…. It fricken riveting. This is a must see if your fan of the dark knight comics like long Halloween or hush. To sum it all up this reminded me a lot like the movie Seven and I loved it for that. I’m glad they got this made and I recommend it to everyone. 10/10 masterpiece… Expand

The performances from Zoë Kravitz, Robert Pattinson, Paul Dano, and Colin Farrell were outstanding; also the chemistry between Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz was great and very natural and believable. I've never been into superhero movies besides Spiderman but recently because of The Batman I watched the Dark Knight Trilogy TWICE! Which I did not know how they could beat the Dark Knight Trilogy. So how does it fair against the Dark Knight Trilogy? Well as you can tell by my rating I freaking LOVED this movie. It gave me everything I honestly wanted and more. Robert Pattinson might just be better then Christian Bale and this movie might be better then any of the Dark Knight movies. I was grasped from the very get go. It didn't feel like 3 hours I never looked at my phone or the time. I left wanting more but still being completely satisfied. I do have some gripes with the movie but none that really ruined the movie for me at all. I do understand those who don't like this movie its not for everyone its very different. But I personally think this is the best Batman we've ever seen on the big screen and I'm so excited for the future of this superhero.… Expand

This is probably the best Batman movie since Mask of the Phantasm. The Dark Knight felt like more of a Joker movie than a Batman one, this film manages to focus on the character of Batman himself much deeper than any previous entry. Pattinson spends the majority of the film in the suit and I loved the way he carries himself as Batman. There wasn't enough of him as Bruce for me to get a good sense of him but I think this was very intentional and don't think it's a bad thing. As promised, this movie focused on the detective aspect of the character and it feels closer to something like Seven or Zodiac. I think some people might be turned off by the slow burn mystery compared to something with more action or "comic book" type moments. I thought they did a good job mixing these types of moments in, like with the intro of the Batmobile. This was a very well crafted film, you can tell the people who worked on this really know their stuff and they truly care about the source material.… Expand

There may never be a perfect Batman movie, but The Batman may come pretty close to it. The first two acts are a masterpiece. The acting from everyone is top-notch, Robert Pattinson maybe my favorite Batman. It’s been a while since I’ve had this level of anticipation for a movie, and The Batman delivered. I’m actually surprised with how dark this movie is. I knew it would definitely be more serious going in. But at times this feels like a horrorIt’s been a while since I’ve had this level of anticipation for a movie, and The Batman delivered. I’m actually surprised with how dark this movie is. I knew it would definitely be more serious going in. But at times this feels like a horror film. It’s a gritty detective noir thriller that feels like it takes elements of Se7en, Silence of the Lambs, and Zodiac, and mixes them with the world of Gotham, and character of Batman. This is definitely the most “detective” focused the character has felt. A lot of the movie is him working to crack riddles and uncover the truth about Gotham, all while trying to put an end to the Riddler. Robert Pattinson does a great job here. I would’ve liked to have seen more of his Bruce Wayne, as there’s only a few scenes of him as the character. But he gives us a super intimidating Batman. I love the design of the suit, and his calm, quiet voice may be my favourite the character has had in live action. Paul Dano kills it as the riddler. He is genuinely the most terrifying villain I’ve seen in a comic book movie. His first scene tells you all you need to know. While his role may be more of a behind the scenes one, with most of his appearances being audio, or video calls, his kills it with the voice and eyes. His performance definitely stole the show for me. Zoe Kravitz does a solid job as Selina Kyle here. They didn’t focus on the romance as much as I thought, and I didn’t entirely feel the chemistry between them, which is odd considering how they seem to get along in interviews. But off all the versions we’ve had of the character on screen, hers is by far the deepest. With quite an interesting backstory to tell. Penguin is pretty great in the movie. The makeup on him is insane, and he definitely feels like a different person entirely. The film has next to no humour, or joyful moments. But any of the ones there come from him. Gordon is played very well here. I really liked his dynamic with Batman. And he has a great amount of screen time. Alfred is the only character I was a little disappointed with. He’s hardly in the movie, and I felt like he should’ve had an extra scene at the end. He sort of just leaves the film. But I did like where him and Bruce’s relationship went. Back to the story, I really liked the way they tackled everything here. It’s an intriguing plot, with a lot of mystery, and while there’s not necessarily any massive reveals that blew my mind, I thought it was told very well. Riddler is just so damn intimidating in this. His traps felt like they were from saw, and some scenes definitely had me on edge and honestly creeped out. There’s not a ton of action, but when it’s there, it’s really well handled. The hand to hand fights are quick and precise. Their well shot and edited, so it’s never messy, but Batman is just fast at taking down criminals which I really liked. The batmobile chase in this is definitely the highlight, the sound shook the whole room and I was smiling the whole time. I’ve heard some complaints about the final act. But none of the reviews really pinpointed their issue with it. It’s definitely more action oriented than the first two, but in no way did it feel out of place for me. I thought it deserved and well executed. There was a few times where the movie feels like it’s gonna end, but it doesn’t. Not really a big problem though, just something that I felt. Overall it’s great. I can’t wait to rewatch it. I actually had a kind of **** experience for the first 30 or so minutes. The people in front of me were laughing and talking the second the film started, but they quickly shut up. The people behind me though were so goddamn loud with their food, it annoyed the absolute **** out of me. EDIT: Saw it a second time, loved it even more.… Expand

The quintessential Batman film. Almost everything about this film is perfect in my eyes. Robert Pattinson is now my favorite Batman. He brings a new layer to the character and we see how Batman has essentially pushed Bruce Wayne away. We getThe quintessential Batman film. Almost everything about this film is perfect in my eyes. Robert Pattinson is now my favorite Batman. He brings a new layer to the character and we see how Batman has essentially pushed Bruce Wayne away. We get to see that obsession with Batman that people only ever talk about. This Batman is an inexperienced Batman. He is only in his 2nd year of fighting crime so he makes mistakes and learns from them. He goes through a very compelling arc that fighting for vengeance isn’t the goal. Fighting to protect others and bring hope to those who have none is the goal. There’s a scene at the end that does this and it’s probably my favorite scene in a Batman movie. Paul Dano’s Riddler is amazing. Dano gives a performance that can rival Ledger’s Joker although Ledger is still better. He’s terrifying in a scary and funny way. Colin Farrell’s Penguin is a highlight as well. He’s completely unrecognizable here and brings plenty of comic relief to his performance. Zoe Kravitz’s Catwoman, Jeffrey Wright’s Jim Gordon, and Andy Serkis’s Alfred are also absolutely phenomenal. The story revolving around Batman learning the truth about his parents and the city of Gotham is a very compelling and engaging story. For an almost 3 hour long movie, I wasn’t ever bored. Sure you could definitely cut a small handful of scenes out but the film is very well paced in that regard. Michael Giacchino’s has one of his finest scores on full display here. It will get stuck in your head almost instantly and really does a great job at showing how characters feel and adding tension to scenes. The action here is phenomenal. The highway chase is incredibly well edited and shot and Batman fighting criminals feels brutal. I prefer the action scenes in The Dark Knight but it’s still great here. The cinematography and directing are all fantastic. The film looks beautiful in almost every shot and you can see Matt Reeves on full display here. Definitely excited to check out more of his work. I’m unsure if The Dark Knight or this film is my favorite Batman movie. I would highly recommend checking this out when you get the chance.… Expand

Direção/Fotografia: Uma direção incrível, ambientação sombria com cenas pesadas, câmeras e ângulos nas cenas de lutas de tirar o fôlego. Trilha sonora: Muito boa, mas na cena de perseguição de carro entre o Pinguim e o Batman uma nota da trilha sonora fica em um loop por 3 minutos, isso me incomodou um pouco.

The Batman is more than just a comic based feature, it's totally new and unthinkable, Matt Reeves leans on classics like Batman Year One and The Long Halloween, even the Arkham series video games, but adds his cinematic vision, making there is even a reflection on each clue of the riddle and the environment in which he won fans and followers. The politically weakened Gotham is the key point for the outcome of the plot that has moral lessons about what is revenge and what is justice. Reeves manages to make Batman's heroic journey human, how fair are you?
About acting... Robert Pattison is far from the best Bruce, even because the story makes him more withdrawn and newly accustomed to the nightlife as a dark knight, but as Batman... he's on par with Bale who, in my view, is the best Batman of the movies.… Expand

The music and cinematography was literally brilliant, there are literally several shots in whole movie which felt like a treat for eye and music every riddler's puzzle scene its suspense-full music and the shivering satisfying fight music and general music it was Great,the tone of it was dark and philosphically the riddler's and batman's crosspath it was Amazing, the characters were amazingly developed,Rob literally felt like "The Batman" although a less bruce wayne, the penguin was unrecognizably amazing and the riddlers short apperance was awesome, catwomen and gordan was amazing as batman's allies and the whole cat-women and falcone thing was surprising, the action scenes were literall treat love all the fight scenes specially the corridor fight and the ending dramtic fight and the chase sequence it was chills,Right from the start the slowpaced detective drama the riddles and the dialogues they were brillaint,the thomas wayne framing as corrupt and the whole alfred's sequence were surprising and the whole story around gotham crimes and there lords were engaging to watch, the riddler jail meet and the bruce wayne mentioning was literally shocking and WOW then the whole ending sequence the floods and the fight it was entertainingly awesome then the scene before credits of riddler in jail and the voice of Joker it was literally "NUTS",Overall it was a great cinema and a slow-paced edge of the seat dectective thriller with dark and depth it was a Masterpiece!… Expand

It's dark and realistic, but also stylish and large-scale. It's not limited by a commitment to realism like the Dark Knight trilogy, nor is it burdened by a shared universe like the DCEU. It is its own thing. A moody, disturbing, visually stunning, David Fincher-inspired, three hour long detective epic with some of the best interpretations of the characters ever put on screen.

Robert Pattinson is fantastic as a younger, moodier, and yes, more emo Batman. Paul Dano is straight up terrifying as the Riddler. Colin Farrell is unrecognisable in more ways than one as The Penguin and Zoë Kravitz is easily my favorite live-action Catwoman.

This movie kept me hooked all the way through, even if I said before, the third act is its weakest part. But that's like saying that the cone is the worst part of an ice cream cone. It's true, but it's still delicious.

This is the best Batman movie. The Dark Knight is good and all, but Reeves finds the perfect mix of gritty realism and style (Nolan would never even dare to have a snorricam shot of Batmam gliding over the city), and finally gives us a live-action Batman that lives up to the title of "World's Greatest Detective". Not that there's much competition, since he's like the only one to actually do any detective work (no, Christian Bale magically finding a fingerprint on a broken bullet doesn't count).… Expand

The Batman 2022 let's talk about this entire movie and before and everything so the batman 2022 at first i was like this could suck and ruin this character when they drop that teaser i was like wait what this looks so **** good where there is no way this could fail main trailer dropped I completely lost it with all the fights they showed and the very ending with batman walking to penguin my god the shots were nuts than repeating watching the trailers until i was able to see this masterpiece of a movie and my god i love this movie Robert Patterson is **** amazing in this movie where he takes over the movie like i said Robert Patterson I don't like because of twilight they're are so cheesy movies where i can't watch them than where he was doing batman i was like oh no but than seeing this movie man wow his voice is better than christian bale which was a big problem with that trilogy but still love the trilogy for sure just that voice is so bad it takes me out the movie every single time but right when i hear the batman voice he already is my fav batman and the outfit is amazing and bruce wayne i love too bruce wayne oh man i was really worried from i mentioned before and the performance my Robert Pattinson is just perfect i have never seen an actor play batman and i feel bad for batman where this movie is where i feel bad for batman and Riddler is like tied to me with The joker in the dark knight ik ik i just said that it's just that voice and what he did to the city is like wow what a villian i didn't expect any of this i expected an horror performance of the riddler by what i have heard but yeah the ridler is sooooo good in this movie where i hope to see him in future movies than david gordon is everything i wanted where he is like the mentor of batman which was nice where the other cops thinks he is not a good guy which is always funny tho alright catwoman um catwoman could be my favorite one idk yet mainly because i never seen batman returns it's a possibly she could be my favorite also that score like what i never really been a big fan of the soundtrack of batman in the other films but this one is an 10/10 it's amazing and perfect too also the batman walk is like better than michael myers walking like it was amazing to hear batman walk and how the noice and everything this movie is just perfect and yes this movie is my fav movie ever and my fav superhero movie and my fav batman and my fav batman movie which is crazy to top but they did so I give The Batman an A+ An 100%… Expand

I was waiting for a good take on the bat since the fiasco that was Dark Knight Rises. This movie has it all.

And Gotham was the way it was supposed to be. The result of the film was the delivery of a well-directed film, I think the script lacked some things, but nothing that erases the experience of a good film.

One of the best CBM ever made. It is stylish, interesting, provocative, and beautifully shot. Robert Pattinson easily because the greatest live-action Batman imo as well. Cannot wait to see where this future heads following this movie.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's a very dark movie that loved the scenes in which Batman is angry at his opponents. My adrenaline level rises when I watch these scenes. I like Robert Pattinson, he was perfect for the role of Batman he's great. She stars Zoë Kravitz as the catwoman. I also liked Riddler and his intelligence, Paul Dano was a perfect fit for the role. Gordon is great, I loved the scene of Batman slapped and then the police chased Batman. Batman's chase of the penguin was an unforgettable sight. An awesome and epic theme that captures the state of Gotham City. Eagerly waiting for the sequel… Expand

Uzun zaman sonra yeniden mükemmel bir film izlemek nasip oldu.Ayrıca hans zimmer yok diye üzülüyordum ama o olmasa da müzikler harikaydı.Devamı için sabırsızlanıyorum ayrıca dijital ekranda yeniden izlemek istiyorum :-)

Mercifully there is no social politics or marvel cheese. It just focuses on making a great crime thriller where the lead detective just happens to walk around in a bat suit. Film plays out like a fantastic graphic novel. This isn’t your standard Marvel popcorn flick! It is so much more. A gritty and grounded take on Batman. Hype for the sequel. Outstanding.

The Batman truly was a breathe of fresh air for superhero films. The atmosphere director Matt Reeves managed to craft was enchanting. Brilliant performances across the board with cinematography to match. Can’t wait for the sequel.
