I didn't watch the television series it was based on but I knew that it would be a struggle trying to replace the now famous characters. The cast is what makes the movie so good. Liam Neeson is great as the group leader Hannibal and Bradley Cooper does well as Face. Rampage Jackson was also stronger than I expected as Mr T's character is the most difficult to portray effectively. The whole A-Team had great chemistry together and provided as many laughs as thrills. I'd like to see a sequel. Expand

To my surprise they did it really well and earned my respect. The A-Team was one of the most successful TV series from the eighties and is considered a cult classic. The TV series was the story of 4 former special forces members and Vietnam war veterans that were framed for a crime they did not commit. They however escaped and helped people in need. It had a great and rememberable cast with George Peppard, Mr. T, Dwight Schultz and Dirk Benedict. They had a great chemistry together. The episodes while having the same structure where exiting and enjoyable. They got the combination of action and humor right. Also a plus was the building of stuff or upgrading vehicles that helped them overcome the odds. Like I said it was a well received, a fondly remembered series and my favorite from the eighties. So the stakes were high and many remakes failed over the years and some had even the original cast. They transferred the set up to the modern times. The story is good for this setting and I consider it respectful to the source material. The humor work's well and together with the action rounds up the revival. I hesitate to write this but while they transferred the setting well to modern times it feels also a little bit off but strangely I will blame the modern times :-). Lets go to the cast. While I think the original A-Team is unbeatable the new cast is remarkable good. Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Sharlito Copley and Quinton Jackson do a great job in playing the beloved characters. The rest of the cast delivers also a good performances. The stunts, sets and score round up the experience. Overall while not as good as the TV series (maybe partly influenced by nostalgia) it is a fitting remake. It is remarkable that they made something in this category that is not considered a failure. Look at all the newer Terminator, Die Hard and other sequels or remakes of older movies and series. It is mostly guaranteed to fail with some exceptions. So I give it a good rating and pay my respect. Expand

If you're looking for a fun popcorn flick, then you don't need to look any further. funny funny funny.
The A-Team is a can of soda like a good, cold can of soda on a hot summer day, it's curiously refreshing, tasty and it hits the spot.

This movie is right. There is no plan B. Instead failing to applause any one by going to plan B, they kept going to plan A throughout movie production.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is an action adventure film, with some comedic elements also present. Its clearly a homage to the cult 80s TV show (of the same name). I found it an easy watch, with plenty of effects (mostly explosions and gunfire related visual effects), a relatively fast plot pace throughout and some good performances. Unsurprisingly (to those who remember the TV show), its very macho in tone and the camerarderie between the various team characters comes through strongly i.e. their quite cocky and full of bravado. There is a strong theme of personal one-up-manship and ingenuity . They all come across as quite youthful, although visually some are more youthful than others (comparing, say, Liam Neeson to Bradley Cooper (sorry Liam!)).

The dialogue is fairly unimaginative, yet decent enough I suppose, not the worst I've ever heard and the film in general is certainly relatively entertaining. None of the main characters seem to be entirely, or overly, struggling with the situations they find themselves in, certainly for the most part. Of course its easy to say that its hardly the most realistic of films as far as the plot is concerned but then that is often the case with such action films. I found it an entertaining watch regardless though. There were a few scenes that made me laugh out loud, one involving Hannibal Smiths attempted escape from prison and another in which a film viewing has clearly unintended consequences which the audience seems to love, much to what would normally be peoples confusion. I won't explain those scenes anymore but I thought they were quite amusing, although (as far as the first one is concerned anyway) I do have a bit of a black sense of humour and it may not appeal to all. Suffice to say, this isn't a film to be taken especially seriously.

The musical score used during particularly tense scenes was quite good at making me feel more tense and keen to see how things would work out, what the outcome would be of fights, escape plans and other things. It consists mainly of uptempo rowdy tracks, although nothing rave or techno based. I would say that there's definitely an element of cheese present but I wouldn't say it ruins the film. Other cast members include Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson as B.A. Baracus, Jessica Biel as Charissa Sosa, Sharlto Copley as Murdock and Patrick Wilson as Lynch.

I felt that one or two plot elements were a little 'forced', such as the romance between Charissa and one of the two main characters but then I feel like thats sort of to be expected. Some parts of the film are a bit predictable but then I feel that the comedy works well to send it up, if you know what I mean. Its a pretty frantic film and doesn't leave the viewer with a great amount of time to sit and analyse whats going on, what the likelihood may be for the sequence of events or anything like that. I liked the use of camerawork during one scene which is set down the side of a very, very tall building, where people are lowered via ropes further and further down it, as their being targeted. The camera swaps between shots showing the relevant people face on and showing them from the ground up, highlighting how far they have left to travel and from less traditional angles, like diagonal on, all interspersed quickly to presumably add to the sense of tension and fear in the viewer, leaving you wondering if the people involved can possibly safely make it to the ground. In other scenes, primarily chase related scenes, the camerawork is quite jumpy and cuts very quickly between one angle and another, so if you find unsmooth camerawork to be a real issue, if you tend to get potentially queasy by such things or similar, then I'd say you might want to give this film a miss. Otherwise, however, I thought it was good at making me feel more engrossed in the film and wanting to find out what happens - if anything there's the obvious sense of disorientation but that helps you to really want to find out what happens to the relevant people, so I guess it primarily works in the viewers favour.

Content wise, it contains pretty much what I'd imagine most people would expect. By that I mean some uses of strong language and moderate violence including gunfights and some bloody violence. There is obviously an element of intensity during the majority of the film and as such younger viewers (i.e. children) may find it slightly frightening, due to the themes, the worries of enemies being around and so on. The only other thing perhaps worth mentioning is that one of the main characters, Hannibal smokes large cigars and is shown with them in various scenes, so if your not keen on kids or young teens seeing people smoke on screen a lot then this may be best avoided. Drugs also play a role, although its not exactly greatly glamorised by any means but characters do knowingly ingest drugs. The film carries a 15 rating to reflect the content it contains.

The A-Team had promise considering the cast does a solid job at bringing the traits and the humor of the 80s show to the big screen, but ultimately, story and action are just forgettable and reduce the film to a standard action B-movie.
