Ultimately, by placing everything within the online adventure, the real-world threats become secondary to the dungeon crawl. Hardened SAO fans may be fascinated by the tweaks in this remaster, but Aria of a Starless Night just feels like a repackaging. Read full review

This movie absolutely blew me away. A few years ago, I fell in love with SAO since I loved the premise of it, and the first arc was everything 9th grade me could have asked for. After that ended, and the next arc set in, I hated the show because of what it became. Eventually I watched theThis movie absolutely blew me away. A few years ago, I fell in love with SAO since I loved the premise of it, and the first arc was everything 9th grade me could have asked for. After that ended, and the next arc set in, I hated the show because of what it became. Eventually I watched the alternative and ever since I've had a love-hate relationship with this franchise. This movie has done nothing but give me hope for the direction of SAO as a whole. The animation is spectacular throughout all of the movie, Asuna is an infinitely better character than Kirito, the movie takes its time and explores the first floor and mechanics of the game thoroughly, and the boss fight is quite great. I don't believe there was a theme to this movie, and I felt like a couple of characters could have been handled better, but otherwise this movie is a masterpiece. A must watch for anyone regardless of whether they loved the anime or people who were disappointed by it.… Expand

This film reinstated the love I have for the series. I Really liked the beginning of the Eincrad arc, hating everything after that, then really liking the Alicization arc. This film totally brought me back to the magical Eincrad and made me want to live in the all encompassing world like IThis film reinstated the love I have for the series.
