This is a Difficult Superman movie to rate, it takes what we knew with the old trilogy and brings it into the modern era of film.

Does it work?, Mostly yes, When the action hits, it's perfect all the way through, but the cinematography and camera work combined with the CGI lets down that scenes just a little.

The music is Nostalgic But can feel out of place when mixed with a darker tone.

Brandon as Superman & Clark Kent, Does work in some scenes, but due to the lack of Dialogue, the characters are never fleshed out for you to enjoy their company.

The movie is also rather long for the plot it was trying to convey. When Superman is in the plane I expected the film to go on longer but it only had around 30 minutes left. So the pacing of the film is good but does not make full use of the time given.

Next is the action, it's good, especially the Plane scene but starts to degrade after. The plot is filled with a bit too many characters, but they are used well enough that they don't overstay their welcome, however, it also tries to introduce a side plot that doesn't really go anywhere especially since there won't be a direct sequel to this.

Would I want a sequel if I had watched this back in 2006? Maybe but then it would have to kick it up a notch.

Do I prefer Man of Steel over This? Definitely.

Lastly, this film was very close to capturing Superman perfectly. Sadly if one has watched the Christopher Reeves films then you'll notice something is just missing.

So what's missing in my opinion?
Firstly it is the Suit, there is no evolution besides the symbol, next is the fun Dialogue that was replaced with darkness and drama, and Finally the action, besides the plane scene, isn't believable, it's out of place really.
While this movie creates those moments of "How is Superman gonna deal with this" The acting, the CGI, and the Cinematography let it down.

So I think this is, I was going to give it an 8/10, but I believe it is a 7/10. There are parts in this movie which is a must-see, it is nostalgic and is very close to portraying Superman in a perfect manner. The Technology and film choices of its time let it down.

This Film tried to merge Nostalgic Lore, Characters, and Plots and tries to mix that all together with a generic Super Hero Movie that's in lacking CGI and Cinematography in places.

For waiting almost 20 years for a superman movie I was clearly disappointed by this. There have been critics who have been stinting in their praise for this movie, but others were quite condescending. This film is far from a masterpiece, and definitely not the best of the Superman franchise, but it was fairly solid considering what it could've been. First off, visually it looks amazing and I thought the special effects were extremely good. Same with the music score, full of those familiar motifs and some new haunting ones too. While Lex Luthor wasn't portrayed as the cold, shrewd yet somewhat lovable villain Gene Hackman played so memorably in the original movies, Kevin Spacey the competent actor he is played him very well. Also Bryan Singer's direction was able and had just the right edge, and I was intrigued by the film's concept. And I have to say, some of the action scenes were very exhilarating. However, there were elements that could've been better. One of the main problems I had with the film was the pace, I found it unusually slow and there are scenes like Clark listening in on Lois and Jason that dragged on for too long. And maybe I am in the minority who felt that it could've been half an hour shorter, and that the script was clunky at times. Also, I wasn't taken with the two leads either. Brandon Routh is handsome and he is charming but he isn't charismatic enough as Clark Kent/Superman, and Kate Bosworth left me cold as Lois. In regard to these two, the relationship between the two characters was underdeveloped. All in all, a solid and visually enthralling film, but it is let down by uneven pacing and a clunky script. 6/10 Bethany Cox… Expand

Director Bryan Singer shows clear admiration for Richard Donner's original Superman, and while it superficially borrow's from Donner's film, it fails to capture the original's charm or magic. This is a dreary, lifeless comeback for the Man of Steel.

Overall, a pretty decent movie. Brandon Routh is excellent as Superman, as well as the rest of the cast. I feel like the direction was unclear; the Superman movies Reeve and Cavill starred in effectively made Superman feel isolated and emotional, someone the audience could empathize with, while I don't know what to say about this version of Superman.

It was a long fast for fans, and with the emergence of a new wave of high-quality films based on characters from comic-book albums, cinema knew, and very well, to bring this character back to the movies. I don't think he will ever be a cinema figurehead, but he deserved a return.

This film also has the advantage of being virtually a sequel to the second film, from 1980: here, the Man of Steel actually had a romance with Lois Lane, and disappeared when scientists thought they had discovered traces of his home planet, to return several years later, after having proved that it was not true. Lois got married, the world had forgotten his existence... but he quickly shows that he's back, at the same time the presence of the malevolent Lex Luthor makes itself felt in the world. The film isn't perfect... but let's agree with this: after the 1978 film that made Christopher Reeve an immortal actor, this is Superman's best film, and a film that redeems and updates the character to a new generation.

Personally, I think the choice of Brandon Routh for the lead was not the best. It's a fact that the actor strives, tries to do what he can and looks great in Clark Kent's warm and somewhat goofy figure... but he doesn't have the charisma or presence or impact to be the Man of Steel. Kate Bosworth is equally a beautiful woman and a hardworking actress, but the way she brought Lois Lane to life is very bland, and I didn't feel any convincing chemistry between her and Routh... nothing to indicate that there's an "old flame" between those characters, and that there really was a relevant passion in the past. Far better than all of them, Kevin Spacey gave the villain, Lex Luthor, an aura of charisma, intensity, coolness and cynicism that went down well and that I enjoyed seeing...much better than the somewhat caricatured way Gene Hackman played the character in older films, and which I criticized, in due course, in the reviews I wrote for them. And I cannot forget the impeccable way in which Frank Langella brought the newspaper's editor, Perry White, to life.

Technically, the film has several valuable elements and shows well the large budget it was entitled to. It was undoubtedly a large investment by the studios, in an era in which CGI and the use of computerized special effects reigns and dominates the visual style of this genre of cinema. In this respect, the film does indeed have good visual effects and cleverly uses CGI, creating an authentic Metropolis, with buildings and a visual horizon that we cannot associate with a city we know (the older films were set in New York, and it was, for me, difficult to see the city and think of a fictional one). The film was very well shot, has impeccable cinematography, vivid colors and a good balance of light and shadows. The good soundtrack, taking advantage of the iconic Superman theme tune, also deserves a frankly positive note. Unfortunately, I think that the editing could have been better, and that it's an excessively long movie, that wastes time and drags on some scenes without this being justified.… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Bryan Singer said himself he set out to make a 'chick flick.' Written mostly from the perspective of a self-involved, workaholic, Lois 'I've done Superman' Lane. The Man of Steel is portrayed as an absent father who abandoned his child after a one night stand with the mother. In this incarnation, our American hero is lowered to the ranks of Super-Stalker, as he peers into and creeps around the Lane residence, uninvited. Routh looks the part and does his best Christopher Reeve impression, but the campy costume reduces him to looking like a plastic action figure. It appears the costume dept. wanted to set the film in the 50s, but the production designers didn't get the memo. Maybe if Singer wasn't flying around on the producer's jet, diddling twinks, there would have been a greater synergy during pre-production. There is plenty of the usual Singer homo-eroticism combined with unnecessary and border-line blasphemous references to Christianity. The action scenes and practical effects sequences are well put together, as expected - the cgi sequences looked dated by today's standard. Real life villain Kevin Spacey does a decent turn as the film's antagonist, although he never really breaks sweat. The film disregards a second act; instead, the third-act of Superman Returns begins at the halfway mark, concluding with the scriptwriters' re-written fantasy of why their dead-beat dads abandoned them. In the cancelled sequel, Richard gets friendzoned because he can't shoulder-press an entire island.… Expand

Superman is back! But he has to find his place in a changed world again; but the one who didn't forget him is Lex Luthor. overall - not a disappointment. Not that awesome thriller that Spider-Man was, not as fantastic as the X-Men movies, not as mysterious as Batman, but still loads better than Daredevil, Elektra, and Fantastic Four.

For me, Superman Returns is the definition of a good superhero story. It is great to look at, with great action and a great plot, and really just unforgettable. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Overall, Superman Returns is the sort of force that's irrational, yet is ironically able to gain value by being aware of itself. What's meant by this is that the irrationality in question is perhaps that it's acceptable to oppose self-awareness without reason, and that the source of this dynamic isn't meant to be understood.

Possessing self-awareness is a type of division, ergo a type of conflict. So from this definition, what can be projected onto Superman Returns is the formula that the source of being self-aware is the irrational, but, because that source was always inevitable that means that it's okay for an outcome of purity to derive from the act of self-awareness. Of course, the next problem that leads from this is that if Superman Returns is a process of getting to purity, is that meant to suggest that the movie itself is an evil product?

Even if Superman Returns isn't evil per se, on the basis that evil is true, that still leaves the worrying and disturbing idea that Superman Returns is partly evil incarnate. Which makes sense, given that the story does feel very eerie, and very poignant and about impending doom. But then again, if the story is about impending doom, that provokes the great idea in which Superman Returns can be understood as a perfect encapsulation of a trade of identities: the story is about impending doom, and therefore the external product possessing the story being the process to purity is a very neat and very impressive reality. The probability, is that Superman Returns is indeed what's just been described. It doesn't seem far-fetched or out of place to perceive Superman Returns this way, but, there is then a new issue that arises: if this identity of purity for evil is real, is it worthwhile to point out that it's possible that this nature is a justification for the movie? If the justification is real, perhaps it's just a consequence of the story that the complexity isn't able to deal with the justification. After all, the purity that's ostensibly linked to the product isn't an actual part of the experience, not even when Kal-El visits Jason at the movie's very end, and so it seems fair game to think of Superman Returns as a type of failure. Failure, in this sense, isn't negligible but it also isn't important. The fact is that Superman Returns is a tremendous emotional experience, and frankly represents a much better type of art and philosophy of film-making than most other superhero and fantasy movies do. In the world of Superman Returns, the mundane and the common are the special and the supernatural. The typical human experience is the value of the story, the clear pattern of the story being the link between complexity and uniformity.

In Superman Returns, spectacle derives from uniformity, but link between spectacle and uniformity is the theme of the movie rather than just some accidental byproduct. The supernatural nature of uniformity being possible is the movie's spiritual essence, and this is the sort of story depth that far outshines many other sci-fi classics. It's a crime that Superman Returns never got a sequel, but at the same time it isn't any wonder from an artistic perspective, similar to Batman & Robin.

At the end of Batman & Robin, Barbara Wilson joins Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson to become a trio of superheroes; because of this intellectual development, it isn't a surprise that Batman & Robin never got a sequel, because the conceptual specialness of Batman, Robin and Batgirl was too precious to actually manifest. Superman Return was the exact same reality, ending on such a conceptually exciting and emotionally uplifting note that the prospect of any sequel to Superman Returns would've been daunting to say the least. Superman Returns has its flaws, but the real heart of its brilliance is that those flaws are in fact part of the very things that make Superman Returns an infinite case of magnificence… Expand

The background, scenery and effects are well created but lack the wow factor we expect with more recent entries. Its yet another devious, 80s-esque plot that happens to be reminiscent of the stereotypical supervillain only with diminishing returns. Most of the action is also composed of Superman lifting things. Like a lot of things. We see little in the form of combat with Superman although it probably isn't exceedingly nessecary as evident by the 2013 Reboot's supposed overuse of it. Much of Superman Returns would feel slow for the modern audience but can kick in a bit of nostalgia for the rest.… Expand

Last seen larking about on the big screen in the 1987 dud "Superman IV," the Man of Steel has been resurrected in a leaden new film not only to fight for truth, justice and the American way, but also to give Mel Gibson's passion a run for his box-office money. Where once the superhero flew up, up and away, he now flies down, down, down, sent from above to save mankind from its sins and what looked like another bummer summer.

The super-size (more than two and a half hours) "Superman Returns" was written by Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris, working off a story hatched by them and the director, Bryan Singer, after what appears to have been repeat viewings of Richard Donner's "Superman." Released in 1978, that film ushered Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster's original comic creation into the blockbuster age with frothy wit and a cast that included Marlon Brando in a creamy scoop of white hair and Gene Hackman in clover. Christopher Reeve, of course, wore the cape and tights, while Margot Kidder did a fine approximation of the young Katharine Hepburn at her most coltish. Valerie Perrine and Ned Beatty added some laughs, while Glenn Ford supplied a pinch of gravitas.

As nutritious as a box of Cracker Jack and just as yummy, "Superman" was at once a goof and a self-conscious bid at modern mythmaking. Years later, what resonates aren't Mr. Donner's action scenes, which look crude compared with what he would do later in the "Lethal Weapon" series, but how fluidly he changes tones from the iconic (as when the supertoddler lifts a truck off his Earth father) to the playful (as when the souped-up adult realizes that the closetlike phone booth is a thing of the past). Mr. Reeve worked the tonal changes with similar ease, delivering a superhero whose earnestness was strategically offset by his fumbling, bumbling, all-too-human twin, who was just the ticket for the post-Watergate, pre-Indiana Jones moment.

Mr. Singer's Superman, played by Brandon Routh, is a hero of rather different emotional colors, most muted. Like Christopher Nolan's "Batman Begins," Mr. Singer's effort reworks the legend against a vaguely modern, timeless backdrop that blends the thematically old with the technologically new. The story opens with some necrophiliac wizardry and Brando newly arisen as Superman's extraterrestrial father. Well represented even from beyond, the dead actor receives billing for his spectral turn, squeezed between Eva Marie Saint, who plays Superman's earth mother, and Tristan Lake Leabu, who plays Lois Lane's young son. The Daily Planet's star reporter is in turn played by Kate Bosworth, whose glum mien and curtain of brown hair suggests that blondes really do have more fun.

Lois, however, doesn't enter the picture until after the filmmakers have laid the story's Oedipal foundation, which finds two men saying goodbye to the much older women who will, intentionally or not, shape their destinies. In one corner, Lex Luthor (Kevin Spacey taking up the role played by Mr. Hackman) bids cold adieu to the crone who will make him fantastically rich; in another, Superman again digs a fiery trough into the Kent family farm upon crash landing. This time, it's the grown man who brings tears to his mother's eyes and who stares at the sinking Kansas (actually Australian) sun, weighing his responsibility to humankind after a five-year hiatus crossing the galaxies to visit his original home.

It's too bad that Mr. Singer and his colleagues don't really do anything substantial with the good-guy-bad-guy routine. Superman may be a super-creation, but it's his villains rather than his dual identity that have usually given him a kick. Unlike his brooding and angst-ridden rivals in the superhero game, his alter ego is only as interesting as the comic book artist or the actor adding shades of gray to Clark Kent's business suit. Part of the charm of Mr. Reeve's interpretation was that a guy this impossibly handsome, who literally towers over everyone in the office, could hide behind a slouch and oversize eyeglasses. It was absurd, but then so too was the idea that a powerful extraterrestrial would hang around Earth to take the kind of abuse perennially heaped on his human half.

As he proved with his first two installments of "The X-Men" franchise, Mr. Singer likes to make important pop entertainments that trumpet their seriousness as loudly as they deploy their bangs. It's hard not to think that Superman isn't the only one here with a savior complex.… Expand

OK. Everyone release their collective breath. This movie is absolutely unforgivable! Not just disappointing, not just average, but terrible! Nonetheless, an iconic screen shot here and there does not a movie make. Here are but a few of the problems:

1. The need for Superman's return is necessitated by the hero's 5 year leave of absence from earth, during which time, he presumably travels to Krypton in order to confirm its destruction. I say "presumably" since we never get to see any of this search, only a rehashed CGI effect of Krypton exploding. If you're going to use a return to Krypton as a plot device--and its an intriguing idea--develop it! Dont' leave it hanging there like an unzipped fly.

2. Lex Luthor is about as threatening as Star Jones in a verbal joust with Barbara Walters. The movie opens with him swindling an old widow out of her fortune. Are you shaking in your boots yet? Isn't this guy supposed to be the smartest guy on the planet? Sigh...I suppose the screenwriters, out of some misguided desire to one-up Hackman's original performance, decided complete emasculation of Superman's nemesis was the only route to go. Kudos on that guys! Oh yeah, and in case you missed the point that this guy has no penis, the movie made sure to show Parker Posey literally dump his "crystals" into the ocean. At least that was less painful than witnessing the relentless zinging of the movie's villain with "you're bald" jokes.

3. Lois Lane and Routh are as flat as pancakes. There is no emotional depth to the characters at all. I guess the writers realized this when they were penning the script because, a la "Family Ties", "The Cosby Show", "Phantom Menace", or "Full House", they decided to hide their faltering story by turning Lois Lane's 5 year old kid into a major character. As expected, this was typical bait and switch. Bring out the kid everytime we need a tear. And, for extra effect, lets make him speech impaired and only utter things like "Mommy, will he get better? I want him to get better."
Get my gun.

4. Luthor's plan to destroy Superman starts off well--steal Kryptonian technology and use it to conquer the world and kill Superman--but leaves something to be desired in the execution. Luthor uses a crystal from the Fortress of Solitude to create a new continent--one based on the crystaline geology of Krypton. OK, so far. What now? Build some kick-ass Kryptonian weapons? Revive some long-dormant Kryptonian A.I. that runs amok? Build a suit of Kryptonian battle armor to give Supes a run for his money? None of the above. If you said, kick back, smoke a cigar and play a couple of hands of No-Limit Texas Hold-Em, you'd be more on the right track. Yawn...

5. What else? Oh yeah. Lois has a live-in boyfriend played by X-Men's James Marsden. If only they had let Marsden unleash a well-placed optic blast to eleviate the mind-numbing boredom of watching him squirm from one insecurity complex to the next. I guess I can't blame the guy. If I knew my girlfriend's ex was the last son of Krypton, I'd probably be a little uneasy too. However, all sympathy for the character quickly evaporates as he is remorselessly turned into a Women's Sensitivity Seminar Poster Boy.

6. In the end, I didn't know what to be irritated by the most--the film's inability to engage me in any way by the story, or its heavy-handed attempts to endorse some limp-d--k vision of the sensitive, modern man.

There has been some recent attention surrounding the question, "Is Superman Returns a gay film"? I don't think "gay" quite hits the mark on this one. Rather, terms like "limp", "flacid",and "impotent" come to mind.… Expand

Bryan Singer ('X-Men' and 'X2: X-Men United') takes to the director's chair to complete what Richard Donner started with Christopher Reeve back in the late 1970s...he manages to fit, or even copy, the style, but everything else just seems...bland.

A 25 year old Brandon Routh dons the Superman outfit this time as he seems to physically resemble Christopher Reeve, but lacks the overall charisma. He comes off as a bore, yes, we get it, he's tortured and hasn't returned from Krypton in over 5 years, but where's the joy? Where's the enthusiasm? He just seems like the kind of guy who would try to smile in front of a camera, but ultimately just exposes his teeth with a blank expression, and the picture would just look awkward.

Kate Bosworth, who was 22 at the time, plays Lois Lane who has a child that is 5 years old...she does not look like someone who should have a child that's 5 years old. She seems shocked that Superman has (as the title suggests) returned, but is mad at him for leaving in the first place.

Kevin Spacey plays the ever-so-threatening Lex Luthor, he has charisma and seems to be the only one giving the most effort in his performance, but he's a cartoon...his presence and his appearance make him more animated than a Pixar film.

Overall, this is bleak, dry and underwhelming. I applaud Singer for trying to bring some cinematic life back to the iconic character, but the franchise needed a reboot...fresh and different, not an overdue sequel where it feels like a carbon copy of previous installments.

There's promise, but there's disappointment.… Expand

It was a unique reboot that recaptured the charm of the classic movies while moving forward into new territory. Routh as Clark Kent channeled Reeves brilliantly. It might have reignited the franchise if it had contained a few more epic action scenes for the audience that found it boring. As a coming of age tale, a man becoming a father, it delivered...but it lacked the bombastic action that superhero movies usually feature and there was rarely a sense of threat. I really enjoyed it for what it was but, after lots of discussions, can understand why many of the people who saw it were disappointed. It's a shame, if only Lex had recruited an actual supervillian Routh might still be Superman instead of the Atom.… Expand

Superman has gone away for five years in a plot contrivance that threatens to sink the film before it can begin. The claim is that he is seeking the remains of his home world (Not to sound like a comic book geek but he if gets his powers from our yellow sun he shouldn't be flying past Pluto let alone halfway across the galaxy.) He comes back, sort of says hi to mom, tortures his poor loyal dog with a tennis ball and heads to the big city where he stalks his ex-girlfriend Lois whom he didn't even tell he was leaving and who has clearly gone on with her life.

And I'm not exaggerating the stalking. Superman hangs outsider her house using superpowers to snoop like some DC comics version of a cautionary Lifetime movie.

Lex Luthor is also back with another stupid plan though Kevin Spacey does play the character well and a talented Parker Posey fills both the Otis and Mrs. Teschmacher shoes.

Both leads (Brandon Routh and Kate Bosworth) have zero chemistry with each other and considering they were passionate lovers their conversations are pretty stunted and mundane.

The action sequences are decent but the whole film seems to drag at two and a half hours and there is a distinct lack of joy. (You know something fun like everyone putting their Kryptonite up on E-bay, or Superman dating a supermodel to make Lois jealous that kind of thing everyone seems so damn melancholy.) Speaking of melancholy I noticed that Superman never asked about any disasters he didn't prevent while he was on his so called vacation. Maybe a trip over lower Metropolis to see Ground Zero would have given him a reason for all the moping.… Expand

i can t understand why so many people panned this movie. Sure there are some weak spots but overall i d say that it had the same tone as the Reeves Superman. In many ways, the film blatantly borrows from the first two classics, without trying to add anything new to the series it's continuing. One thing the film does give the audience is a fantastically campy performance delivered by Kevin Spacey who clearly seems to be enjoying himself.
Overall the film asks us Does the world need Superman ?
It doesn't need this film, that's for sure. The film just lacks the spectacle and wonder you would expect in a Superman film

Directed by Bryan Singer the movie is certainly faithful to the originals and for the most part Brendon Routh is able to recapture the charm that made Christopher Reeve so popular in the role even if there never quite seems to be the same level of chemistry with Kate Bosworth’s Lois Lane.

The movies plot is perfectly passable, largely thanks to an excellent performance from Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor, despite the fact that we never really learn anything more about the man of steel as the film progresses. Even if Superman has never been as interesting a superhero as Batman for example a little more insight into what had happened over the last five years would have still been nice.

Overall, while it can perhaps be a little slow in places, thanks to some well shot action scenes and good performances Superman Returns is a worthy addition to the franchise.… Expand

And for crying out loud, as much as I like Kate Bosworth, she is the worst Lois Lane in cinematic history. Superman Returns is a reboot that has a epic story. Lex Luthor is a better villain in this Superman and that is probably the biggest reason why I think Returns was satisfying. Hopefully the next reboot can do it even better.

Superman Returns has the right elements for a good Superman movie. It has big, epic-sized effects, a story about the more human portions of Superman, and more than enough drama to keep brainless superhero pieces of shlock on the floor (I'mSuperman Returns has the right elements for a good Superman movie. That said, to be a drama is not enough. It must be a competent drama. I could go on about how Lex Luthor's plan makes no sense, or about the odd decision to give Superman a child, but I like to think that picking at individual aspects isn't as important as the overall tone. Plenty of superhero movies have gotten away with questionable fine details because they had the right tone and pacing hold interest and entertain (X-Men and Spider-Man immediately come to mind). The feel of Superman Returns is just all wrong. The film truly is dull, in every aspect.… Expand

This is one great movie. The story and acting coexisted perfectly. One of my favorites of the Superman movies. Brandon Routh portrayed Clark Kent/Superman pretty well. Definitely worth the watch!

This movie sucks in so many ways it's hard to believe. It literally could've ended 10 times, but no, it just kept on dragging on. Way too long and extremely boring. Despite its flaws, this is without a doubt the best Superman movie. Sure, it could have used more action and less dialogue, but I enjoyed this movie the whole two and a half hours I was sitting there watching it. This is an all around great movie. The only thing that slows Superman down is having to unravel the back story/ love story. This is kind of needed though and sets it up for an exciting sequel. One of the worst movies of the year for me. Dull, detached, and predictable to the last detail, Superman Returns fails miserably compared to other recent superhero films. The only positive note is Kevin Spacy's acceptable performance.

As a man who has been a huge Superman fan for as long as I can remember, I was thrilled with the final result of this film. Who knew anyone could fill Christopher Reeve's shoes so well? Big disappointment. Couldn't decide if it was a sequel or a reboot, it just sputtered between the two. Brandon's "Clark Kent" was so monotone that I thought Christopher Reeve would spin in his grave. The entire film seemed to be trying to steal plot points from the original movie, even a lot of dialogue. It went from "let's pay homage" to "let's just copy the whole movie". Props to Brandon for sounding like Christopher Reeve's "Superman". Maybe it would have worked better if they weren't trying to make Brandon the new "Chris" but let him be his own Superman.… Expand

Quite frankly, this is among the finest popular entertainment I've seen. Under Brian Singer's direction, we truly have a "man of steel" with a "sensitive core". A hero with soul.
