Imagine you gather 3 world famous actors and the film still is bland completely, so this film is more like ROASTED Notice then Red Notice.

Well this was the most Hollywoodist of Hollywood movies I've been subjected to for quite some time. Not that I'm surprised really, I mean look at the cast, literally the most generic Hollywood A-list casting you could sloppily throw together without trying. Yeah these big names should easily bring us in some dough, story? Plot? Who cares, anything will do.

So what we have here is yet another James Bond-esque, Mission: Impossible-esque action comedy (even with some blatant Indy clonage) with all the usual trimmings. Just take a look at this thing. We skip from one exotic location to another like a videogame. An artic fortress, a dense jungle, sunny Spain, tropical islands, a temple, an underground mine etc...All the while our three main characters, Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds look super glossy and sexy. The entire movie is literally one super slick highly choreographed action sequence after another with terrible CGI effects and blatantly obvious greenscreen shots.

What's more, the action sequences are so mind-numbingly stupid and again so generic it's boring. Gal Gadot's character is obviously the best at everything because of course. Johnson is Johnson like he is in absolutely everything. Whilst Reynolds merely does his mind-mannered soft comedy routine which is admittedly amusing at times but not original. Nothing here is original, we've seen all this before time and time again. The whole thing plays out and looks like a videogame for of pretty people with nice bods. And the entire double-cross surprise angle which occurs numerous times is not clever despite how much the writers and director think it is.

So yeah, cookie-cutter, run-of-the-mill, factory production line, wash rinse repeat etc...All these terms cover this overly unexciting mundane star-studded makeup-heavy bonanza. It's virtually 'True Lies' for 2021 except it rips off a multitude of other movies and franchises and has absolutely no edge to it, no kills, no blood, nothing. Painfully soft safe glossy fluff.

It is funny, has a great cast and kinda plays with the classic heist movie themes. It is however a silly movie that doesn't take itself serious, which can be a problem for many people. It also tries to mix to much stuff together e.g. a healthy dose of Indiana Jones into an already crowded movie. I'm a bit torn about Gal Gadots part, she has some serious Mary Sue vibes, but it kinda works. Enjoy it with a few beers, I'm actually looking forward to a sequel! Expand

If you're willing to overlook a consistent lack of logic, give it a go! It works well as a family movie night flick - just don't jump in expecting a well-crafted thriller that'll leave you in awe. Unexpectedly, the majority of the film's success hails from its cast, which stars popular actors and internet icons such as Dwayne Johnson ("The Rock"), Gal Gadot (well known for her role as Woman Woman), and Ryan Reynolds (it's Ryan Reynolds). Their chemistry works quite well, and the banter is quite entertaining. However, the script is - at best - subpar. The action scenes are decent, but the film's twists lack explanation and often left me with more questions than answers.

In summary: Red Notice is a fun and humorous movie with a great cast, but it lacks real substance. Give it a shot - just don't expect all that much. 6.5/10

I casually enjoyed this movie.
This is the very definition of a movie.
One hour and 57 minutes of a movie.
Can you tell this is a movie, because it is.
This is getting a sequel by the way.
Yep, and it’s going to be a movie.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The most mediocre film I've ever watched. It's like vanilla ice cream but even vanilla vanilla is better than this. And oh btw the ending kinda makes the film look like a long interrogation scene. In that Nazi bunker when the Bishop teamed up with the guys i was like, oh so she's part of the team now? Then you see the kiss and just go wtf like Ryan Reynolds. It's not even a good twist. There was no build up or anything the movie just goes like, hey soo umm all the things you watched, they weren't real, yeah yeah we've been messing with you. It's like you watch stuff happen in one universe then from that point in Argentina you are now watching some other universe. It's like the tears in bioshock. You go through a tear and it's like a new story, new place except this movie just changes everything we saw and dumps everything in garbage. Expand

You can be absolutely sure, by now, that if this was a Disney movie, critics would be giving it 8's and 9's.
It has become beyond tiresome that critics award tired, bad dialogue, formula driven, Disney drivel, high scores, whilst giving anything worth watching on Netflix, not just a bad mark but also reviews which show the critic hasn't even watched what they're reviewing.
Red Notice is fun, from start to finish. There's good dialogue and chemistry between the stars and the pacing is good. All of these things are something you can't say about anything from Disney in many, many years.
Is it truly cheaper to bribe 90% of critics, than it is to produce good scripts?
It seems so, because I think we can all see what's going on, by now, it's blatant and more than a little sad. It will end badly for Disney, as more and more people notice the emperor's lack of clothes. Netflix, however, will I'm sure, keep accumulating movies like this, which grow their catalogue and give people yet more reasons to subscribe to their service over Disney's.

the story was 1000th time used and the twists were literally that predictable that ryan sarcastically says to rock "u didn't see that coming". the plot of stealing eggs and the addition of nazis thing at the end with the whole indiana jones thing at end it was decent although the cat and mouse thing between the trio was entertaining.
rather then story the scenes were engaging to watch the starting fight of duo and then the whole prison scene with the ryan's backstory at jail it was hilarious and the museum fight scene and finally the whole ending with the treasure thing and chase it was fun although the twist at end and the kiss between rock and gal literally felt like ryan's reaction and ended with chessy closing shot of trio walking, the whole movie with the comedy of ryan and rock being rock just like other movies and gal's charm it was a decntly entertaining movie!

Ryan's and the rocks characters are essentially what they have been doing for years snarky non stop talking (Deadpool) and (super cop).
Even with common roles the material is bad comedically and dramatically.

Into Spoilers here the Villain Gal Gadot boring not much personality other than being pretty and a their then off at the end everyone's a their even the one we were routing to bring the criminals in at some points to then set up a sequel to hop around three globes.

The only reason it doesn't get a 1 is due to ed Sheeran and his performance.

Red Notice doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, and as is always the case with the heist movies, there is no way for the characters know their plans will play out. Thanks in large part to the charming lead trio of Johnson, Reynolds and Galdot however, it still offers a couple of hours of humorous and action packed entertainment.

For the most part the acting is good, although Reynold's shtick is starting to feel old, I suppose he's found his niche and he's sticking to it. I don't really feel much chemistry between the three main stars, which is a shame since the vast majority of the film is framed around the clashing personalities of Reynold's and Johnson's characters.

The film ambitiously sets up for a sequel which is par for the course these days. will it get it? Probably. Will it be worth watching? Maybe stick it on in the background while your doing some stuff around the house. If it's anything like this, it can only improve the viewing experience.

Now, we finally got a chance to sit down and watch an unlikely trio make streaming history with Red Notice. Gal Gadot, Ryan Reynolds and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson bring this Netflix flick so much star power it's unbelievable. Red Notice is about when Interpol issues its highest warrant for an art thief, who has pilfered rare Cleopatra pieces, and the chase to capture the illusive criminal. The FBI's top profiler, John Hartley (Dwayne Johnson), jumps into this case pursuing Nolan Booth (Ryan Reynolds), but they quickly become partners in this pursuit. Both try to find, and outsmart, the world's greatest art thief "The Bishop" (Gal Gadot) in order to retrieve the rare pieces and restore their credibility. Oh, does adventure and action ensue afterward. Let's see how it turned out.

I'll be upfront with this review, no need to hide it - this movie was quite entertaining. Was it the perfect big screen film? No. I found Ryan Reynolds to get annoying at times and the movie felt longer than what it really was with all the twists and turns, scene changes, etc. But boy was it jammed packed with action and comedy though! Viewers will find when there isn't action going on, they are probably chuckling and vice versa. This movie reminds me of classics like Die Hard and Die Hard with A Vengeance or even the Indiana Jones series. I think that's saying a lot. Those movies weren't perfect either, but you can watch them a million times and they never get old. These films are filled with star power, clever writing, action, and a quest that just keeps you on the trail to the end.

Moreover, how can you go wrong with our top 3 stars? I know Gal Gadot wasn't that successful with WW84 but that was more the writers and DC Comics' fault than her. She's elegant and fierce at the same time and it shows on the screen. Dwayne Johnson continues to prove he has a certain range, but he's very good at what he does. Yes, he's a bit stiff and would probably stand out in a crowd, if this were real life situations, but on the screen he's a great main guy. Ryan Reynolds just does what he does. Like I said, he gets a bit annoying vocally but, ultimately, his quips and tirades are funny. I can't tell if it's the writing or his ad libs that make him funny but it works. All of them together have a lot of chemistry and I bet it was a fun set to be on. While I like the Kevin Hart/Rock combo a bit more, I definitely wouldn't be mad at another Rock/Deadpool movie - especially since this movie sets us up for a sequel. I'd definitely watch. I feel like this movie could lead to a series that is an Ocean's Eleven type feel but maybe like an MCU.

Anyway, Red Notice is the perfect Saturday/Sunday "I'm bored" just throw something on film, or the "I need something on in the background" film. That might sound like a slight, but I think viewers will find themselves watching this over and over again should this play on FX, USA, TNT, TBS or etc. The film is funny, full of action, a plot that's just confusing enough to keep you guessing. For that, this movie definitely gets a big box of popcorn whether in the theaters or on Netflix.

Ryan Reynolds plays a stock Ryan Reynolds type and churns out a literally non-stop deluge of flat jokes that writer-director Rawston Marshall Thurber clearly thought was hilariously clever, Dwayne Johnson seems to be going through the motions in a similarly stock role as himself, and Gal Gadot pops up throughout to deliver repeated "I somehow anticipated your every move (by reading ahead in the script)!" pantomime villain turns

The plot is pure nonsense, the whole thing is clearly written by someone with absolutely no understanding of anything to do with Interpol, law enforcement or basic common sense, and there's no sparkle of wit or particularly entertaining setpieces to elevate Red Notice to comparisons with the Mission: Impossible type capers that it so painfully tries to emulate

You've seen this film at least a dozen times before if you've watched literally any of the many C-list projects that Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds pay their bills with between real projects - you really don't need to waste your time with this one when there are so many better versions of this movie that already exist, and that weren't written by a five year old imagining how professional adults act

I honestly feel embarrassed for anyone who gave this dreck a positive score, because you deserve better and you don't even seem to have the capacity to understand why

I enjoyed some of the witty exchanges but it really felt like the story was written for simpletons: the characters are one-dimensional, the story jumps from location to cliche location to wow us, and nothing in the movie seems to matter. There's nothing at risk, the characters (and their actors) don't seem to care. At least in other silly movies (e.g. Central Intelligence) the characters care about something.

This is a good movie if you have nothing else to do, or to play it in the background. I wouldn't recommend renting it.

Symptomatic of the laziness that permeates the current film industry...not a reboot or a franchise, but there's so many stale references to past superior films that it may as well be. Lifeless, witless drivel. Demand more, people.

Starring Ryan Reynolds, Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot, I got excited and gave it a watch. Sadly, it turned out to be a very middling experience. One would expect that there would be a great deal of charisma, enthusiasm and quality back-and-forth banter with the Actors (particularly the male duo) the movie has at its disposal but one would be wrong. It's not that there isn't any but what you get for the most part and for a lack of a better word, is pure MEH. It's not terrible, you can stomach it but there is nothing special here. Ryan Reynolds felt like he was doing most of the heavy work by being his usual self with some of the Deadpool persona bleeding in improvising in a not-so-good script still being my favourite part of the movie, whereas the Rock was oddly enough living up to his name, by being a rock, and for whatever reason, he or the director decided this would be the movie for it, against Deadpool... It's good to live up to your name but you still gotta choose an appropriate time and this was not it. Gal Gadot, while being gorgeous and someone who looked like she was having fun, also came with a heft dose of cringe in some of her scenes. Couple that with the goofy nature of the movie which, in a better-written film with interesting comradery between the characters could have been highly entertaining, with a plot that is easily forgettable with the propensity for "twists" without the wit to carry whatever level of self-awareness that movies try to present leaves you with a mishmash of elements taken from much better films where neither the sum of its parts nor the whole is as entertaining as it should have been. Again, it's MEH. Also, with a reported $200 Million budget, it has some pretty shoddy visuals at times while having some cool shots and sets otherwise. This is a repeated trend I've seen in big-budget movies lately where they'll have massive budgets but you don't see that reflected in the visuals/production properly. And if DUNE can look wonderful with a relatively lower budget, these other movies have no excuse with the level of CGI they end up using. Anyway, I was hoping for a lot more fun than I ended up experiencing. You get a massive sequel bait at the end and there are two more entries greenlit by Netflix, so we'll get more of this Trio. Not excited but who knows, they might end up being better. This is an average experience at best which I can't really recommend unless you have nothing else to watch and just want something to pass the time. And if I were to rate it, I'd give it a 5/10. The actors are on their A-game, entertaining and charismatic. The music doesn't stand out there was no amazing crescendo that most themes should have, but it gets the job done. It sets up a sequel that I'd honestly be down to see. I hope it gets greenlighted as I had a lot of fun overall. Expand

Do i need to tell you about Dwayne Johnson how he acts? Or that he tries to act?
Gal Gadot. This is probably the first movie i have seen her in, she does a cringeworthy performance.
But all three performances are awful. None of the characters gives you any incentive to care about them. All bundled together with a script that shows us everything what is wrong with Hollywood.
This movie is a $160 million pile of turd. But you know what?
Hollywood is gonna make them as long as you and me watch them.

Featuring three of the biggest stars currently working and a budget of $200 million, Netflix's latest attempt at bringing a Hollywood caliber blockbuster straight to your living room is their best yet, easily blowing prior efforts like BrightFeaturing three of the biggest stars currently working and a budget of $200 million, Netflix's latest attempt at bringing a Hollywood caliber blockbuster straight to your living room is their best yet, easily blowing prior efforts like Bright and 6 Underground out of the water. That's because it follows a more traditional action-comedy formula. Offering big heists and some Indiana Jones style globetrotting for ancient artifacts with plenty of quips along the way.

It still has the same all over the place writing found in those aforementioned titles. The story flows smoothly from one exciting set piece to the next, but the characters are borderline schizophrenic with their ever-shifting allegiances and plans. This has more twists and backstabbings than a Mission Impossible flick. Plus, whoever wrote the script has some serious daddy issues.

That all means very little however in the face of how funny and action-packed it is. Ryan Reynolds showcases his typical irreverent, sarcastic wit delivering an inexhaustible supply of off-the-wall lines, and Dwayne Johnson as the straight man proves to be the perfect foil while sporting that always indescribable presence that says "you must watch me." The adrenaline-fueled escapades they get up to are exhilarating with parkour chases, helicopter shootouts, and frantic prison escapes. A small touch I really appreciated was that given how our leads are technically the bad guys a lot of attention to detail was given so that we never see an innocent correctional officer or any other member of law enforcement found in the various countries visited get gunned down in one of the multiple firefights.

In fact, the only thing I was bothered by was the ending. Not only does the final surprise development serve to cheapen the begrudging buddy aspect of the film, but it seems to have been included solely as a means of ensuring that each of three headlining names can return for a sequel, when to be perfectly honest the main duo are all that need to. Particularly since Gal Gadot's villain receives no development, largely serving as simple eye candy and a recognizable talent to bring in the viewers.

Still, this is hilarious and thrilling. If you enjoyed the chemistry shared between "The Rock" and Reynolds during their brief time together in Hobbs & Shaw know you finally have a full movie of it. It feels like the kind of cinematic event everybody would rush to see in the days before Disney basically had a freaking monopoly on everything you can see in theaters and the MCU became the model for having any hope of achieving box-office success in the modern age.

This can basically be summed up with words. The Rock is big muscular masculine tough man. Reynolds is funny guy with irony and sarcasm. Gal Gadot is sexy.

There. I **** said it.

Other than that, they keep trying to shoehorn in a Reynolds-Rock buddy cop scenario. They work well off of each other, but the problem is how their relationship keeps flopping between "We like each other and I have your back in a fight." and **** you imma leave you behind." The writing is also just bland and forgettable, with none of the big set pieces or unique scenarios to make up for it. And to top it off, contrived writing. Am I supposed to believe that point blank shots at tied up people would conveniently miss them and hit the locks tying them down instead? As well as security guards for international agencies slipping and knocking themselves out? I can excuse **** like rockets flying through helicopters, because that's an insane action sequence and big set piece. But **** that manifests for the plot is unforgivable. Take away the three big names and you have basically nothing. You can't make funny guy and strong guy the only appeal of your movie

Whistling the tune of "Indiana Jones" (https://youtu.be/IgncJgSbbck) is not a tribute but an act of self-harm, self-sabotage, an own goal, since it induces comparison with the original and does not hold anything, like the first scene of the scaffolding skillfully dismantled piece by piece, but with that now usual excess of frenzy that prohibits you from identifying with some character and therefore sharing their events. Forgettable instantly, it differs from the Spielberghian quadrilogy also for the fact that it started from famous myths and legends, object of study and research, and it could stimulate a deepening of the Third Reich's interest in esotericism. Here, instead, we drag ourselves to watch the next idiocy of the Netflix catalog.

Ryan Reynolds... Is he gay and has a problem admitting it? Why does he always play the same metrosexual guy with always the same jokes and always the same homosexual gestures?
