On a le gros moustachu avec sa cracheuse qui chique sa saloperie ; on a un gars qui a l'air plutôt "normal" mais qui se trimballe des lunettes de geek plus grandes que lui ; on a l'Amérindien psycho et demeuré en même temps, un vrai chien d'arrêt ; on a bien sûr Apollo Creed qui se fait rembarrer sans arrêt par tout le reste de l'équipe (c'est drôle) et ainsi de suite...

Et on a surtout Schwarzy qui reprend du service dans cette sorte de "Commando 2 : le retour dans la jungle de la revanche". Et il faudra bien un Schwarzenegger au sommet de sa forme pour faire face... à la créature ! Le chasseur alien est en effet et à tout point de vue un magnifique concept, élégant, sophistiqué, intrigant et... mortel.

Ce n'est pas que son apparence, son comportement ou ses gadgets : c'est aussi les étonnants effets sonores qui accompagnent et illustrent son formidable attirail. A propos de son ou plutôt de musique, la bande originale d'Alan Silvestri soutient parfaitement le film, martiale et implacable et décidément très prenante.

Un film qui reprend en somme les codes du premier Alien et se tient aux unités de lieu, de temps et d'action, les trois dimensions axiomatiques de toute narration tragico-dramatique depuis l'invention du théâtre lui-même. La mise en scène de McTiernan est professionnelle et appliquée et se met au service du spectacle et de l'efficacité : pas de chichis inutiles ici.

Evidemment, s'il faut un Schwarzy face au Predator, il faut en supporter les conséquences, à savoir quelques "jokes" de beauf et ses yeux en bille de Loto qui sont censées exprimer... quoi au juste ? l'étonnement, la peur, la colère, la détermination ? (ah non, pour la détermination, c'est les sourcils très froncés). M'enfin bref.

On reste toujours autant captivé en tout cas par ce Predator -au contraire de tous les films de la franchise qui ont suivi- aussi bien par sa créature -fascinante- que par le film lui-même, cette BD grandeur nature qui se trimballe avec ses clichés sans sourciller... mais si rondement menée, si efficace qu'on a rarement vu mieux depuis dans le genre.… Expand

I really do like this film. It's taken me a while to have a better appreciation for it. I remember seeing it with Aliens on a double feature when I was 7. Aliens scared the crap out of me but i don't remember how I reacted to this film. ForI really do like this film. It's taken me a while to have a better appreciation for it. For most of my young life macho stuff was pretty much thrusted down my throat by my father. It wasn't until later in life that I began to find an appreciation for it. Being an out gay man i can certainly appreciate how hunky Schwarzenegger and crew are but it's more than that. I love the brute force of this movie and how raw it is. It's big, it's dumb and it's silly and most of all it's unapologetic. The practical FX and gore are beyond amazing. The plot is pretty much a throwaway. It's pretty much our beast versus a beast from the stars. And on those simplistic limits it delivers a hell of a time.

Predator has an awesome concept of a group of men being hunted one by one in a jungle were no one can escape. Predator mixes well a little bit of horror with action and is one of Arnold Schwarzeneggers best films.

Awesome and entertaining!the punchlines before kill,the action and acting it was amazing,the music was good,the story was decent and the plot it was engaging and entertaining right from the start although it was little slow for build-up atAwesome and entertaining!the punchlines before kill,the action and acting it was amazing,the music was good,the story was decent and the plot it was engaging and entertaining right from the start although it was little slow for build-up at start but it was amazing,all deaths were brutal and bloody the huntings by predator and he's skills was menacing AF,the starting meet and handshake was iconic then the adventure to forest and 1st fight at army camp scene with gory environment it was brutally awesome,the bloody bodies and hinting of predator was amazing the 1st hunt of hawking and from then the little fights between Dutch and mac and then slow hunts and survival it was awesome,the revenge of the team member resulting in brutal death was gross and surprising and then the escape for helicopter i thought that's it but then the ending it was literally awesome the camouflage scene of both predator and dutch and the prep for fight with awesome sequences it was amazing the battle was intense and the 1 to 1 combat was great,the ending full predator look was awesome and the punchline "you're one ugly bad MF" was hilarious and great then the fight and nail-biting end to predator it was amazingly incredible,Overall its the entertaining and awesome movie!… Expand

He takes a team of elite commando's to rescue some hostages in this jungle like setting and finds out most of not all have been made a corpse out of. He attacks some little village with his team, killing patrol guards and even takes one of he women but whether she's a hostage or member of the villains isn't explained. Anyway the badguy soldiers get killed, there are bullets, bombs and explosions going off and the area is secured. Then Arnold Schwarzenegger and his commando team must make it to the border presumably for pick up/collection by a chopper but is hunted by an extraterrestrial invisible and visible alien creature who has cool firing gadgets lol. The predator slays all of Schwarzenegger's soldier team members one by one using different methods of killing. He can see the heats of human body's and this is how he hunts and the soldiers and Arnold Schwarzenegger are carrying weapons so don't do themselves no favours. Packed with entertainment, suspense, bad language, blood, explosions and the usual violence and special effects I'd say Predator is a classic but certainly not better than earlier films such as Raw Deal made in 1986... Predator also stars Carl Weathers, Bill Duke, Sonny Landham, Jesse Ventura, Kevin Peter Hall as the predator.… Expand

Predator is an amazing movie. The story is nice, but it's mainly Schwarzenegger, and even more so is the atmosphere of the jungle in which this film is immersed. It is a cult piece that has passed into the history of cinema. It has an atmosphere that comes to mind when it comes to how the 80s were. The movie actually has a very cliché and boring scenario. I really don't know why the Metascore for this one is so low, I found it to be a highly enjoyable action movie. The monster is just awesome, too. Not really a thinking person's film, but it's not supposed to be.

Predator is one of the great classics of the action genre. When a special forces team are sent in on a rescue mission things turn for the worse when they begin to be picked off one by one by an unseen Predator with superior fighting tactics &Predator is one of the great classics of the action genre. Pretty sweet cheese fest. Campy oh yeah but oh so good . Special effects were decent for the time but it is sort of a parody of meat head porn that was so pervasive in the 80's . The 80's prime Arnold and cast .

"Predator" is your usual 80's action movie. Big guys, big guns, big shootouts, explosions and great one-liners said by the great Schwarzenegger. If you're looking for a good Schwarzenegger action movie, you'll probably like it.

This is your classic no plot, big guns, lots of fun blockbuster. Is there any brain work needed? no. Just sit back and watch some muscular men get picked off by an alien bloke, whilst in the process massacring a rainforest.

¿La película es perfecta como algunos dicen? No. Pero si se puede disfrutar. La historia es muy poca y simple, un equipo especial es enviado a acabar con unos guerrilleros y rescatar a unos ministros del país, pero se encuentran con un Alien¿La película es perfecta como algunos dicen? No. Pero si se puede disfrutar. La historia es muy poca y simple, un equipo especial es enviado a acabar con unos guerrilleros y rescatar a unos ministros del país, pero se encuentran con un Alien lo llaman Predator y tienen que exterminarlo. Eso es todo, muy simple y algo tonta, esto me parece mas que era para demostrar que Arnold puede acabar con un alienígena. Personalmente creo que esta sobre valorada. Hubiera preferido que mas bien fuera que todos podían morir y no un personaje principal que sobrevivirá si o si. La película intenta tomarse en serio pero no lo logra muy bien. Le doy un 06/10 mas que decente si buscas acción y poco mas. Yo prefiero Predator 2 y Predators por que se toman mas en serio y tienen menos: OK este es el prota el va a sobrevivir no importa como.… Expand

The film is less sympathetic towards its military protagonists. Juxtaposing Schwarzenegger and his fellow cast spending the first half of the film measuring each other's manhoods, we spend the film's climax with an excellently designed creature seemingly built for battle. While the Predator is born to fight, humanity chooses to. Ooh. That's probably a deeper analysis than the filmmakers ever intended. Aside from all that, it's loud, quite fun and it's got lovely violence all the way through.… Expand

Film was not that great. Was so much stretched. Acting was not good and film's emotions are also weak. Even though they did a great job with what they had, you'll be seeing some weird CGI. Overall, you may enjoy it but not for so long....

Pian heille kuitenkin selviää, että kaikki ei ole kohdallaan. Ruumiita löytyy ympäri ämpäri viidakkoa ja kummallisesti joukostakin kuolee melkein kaikki jäsenet. Kaiken takana on avaruudesta tullut tuntematon olio ja joka on huippu varustautunut.

Oma mielipide:
Predator on kyllä hyvä, mutta siinä toistuvuus iskee. Koko ajan ollaan 10 minuuttia tutkiskelemassa ja sen jälkeen tapetaan seuraava henkilö ja sama juttu toistuu, joka hieman ärsyttää.

Ps. En ole vielä katsonut Predator 2:sta, mutta tulen senkin arvioimaan jossain vaiheessa.… Expand

What if there are not a plot, a storyline or good performances? This is a John McTiernan movie! Pure action not boring stuff. That´s the reason why, "Predator" is a cult action movie. For the movie, in general, has a sense of a bad movie. A cross between alien terror movies and stupid action. Likes Rambo-meets-Alien in a Celebrity Deathmatch (for its capacity of absurdism). But after all, this is just a eighties action flick: nor superfluous neither important but sometimes, sometimes, that´s all that a movie needs to be a classic.… Expand

This is the definition of action. It was entertaining in some parts but it does get rather predictable and boring as well. Also the acting was poor as well. It was ok though but not as good as it could have been.

Predator...There's no other movie that's so bad,it's good.I mean you get to see Arnold Schwarzenegger say 80's action movies typical cheesy one liners and go head to head with an alien...You don't see that anywhere else.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. How come such critics, such admiration to what appears to be less than an average action movie ? The pace is bad, the plot unstructured, the acting is poor (excepting for Dillon who is embodied by Carl Weathers), the end is as long and boring as predictable, we don't know anything about the Predator, characters are pale stereotypes (with the notable excption of Billy, played by Sonny Landham), the whole story is just a runaway/embush plot, there is no balance between the opponents, the characters have no depth, the so-called thermic-view scenes are lame and visually disgusting.

I however have to admit that the soundtrack is great, the special effects are impressive, some lines are iconic (in the middle of dumb dialogues), the weapons are powerful and the jungle looks awesome. Only one scene, when they attack the guerila camp is awesome, but the movie sadly struggles in maintaining a decent level of tension among all these useless scenes and unequal battles. Nothing more to add: it is boring, empty, and ends up in striking nonsense (why doesn't the Predator see Dutch when he is covered of mud ? I thought it could detect warmth ? Why and how did Dutch survive the laser blast since it killed many of its brothers id arms ? Why does the Predator play so long with him rather than to immediately kill him and transform him into a trophy ? Why will so many questions remain unanswered ?).… Expand

I'm not sure how it when was it was released, or how was the reception. For this analysis it just doesn't matter right now. After all, fictional works age, and note everyone of them age the same way.

Given that, I found Predator the original movie boring. It doesn't stand the quality set by today's standards and can only fit well with people who like nostalgic movies and people who want to deeper understand the franchise.

It set the concept of the predator that was set in popular culture, but still, that's not a movie I enjoyed watching so much for itself. The idea is there, but the execution is not so good anymore. So if I could synthetise it in simple words that would be: It's not for me.… Expand

There’s no plot, bad acting, bad script, the plot it’s not that thrilling, it’s boring and the only thing that is good for it’s time is the special effects, it’s just a piece of awfully directed crap. It's arguably one of the emptiest, feeblest, most derivative scripts ever made as a major studio movie. Arnold Schwarzenegger fights an outer-space monster in a third-world jungle. The monster never has a chance. Neither does the jungle. Neither does the audience. Then let’s not talk about the plot armor Arnorld had against the Predator. The shoulder canon is capable of firing powerful plasma blasts which have been shown to blow the heads clear off their targets, even Dillon get his arm destroyed by it and Arnold got a scratch....The Predator also has wrist blades, that he doesn’t use, super strength that he doesn’t use, spear, blade disc, etc. Dumb action sequences of Arnold fighting the Predator.
