So on womens day I saw parched.Overall a good movie with a good heart and good cause on the widely sensitive and important topic of women oppression and Gender equality in India. The movie unfolds right from the start all the taboos, prejudices and issues faced by women especially in rural parts of India and is suppoorted and aptly assisted by strong performances by Radhika Apte and Surveen Chawla.I liked the movie I personally wanted to myself see this issue which is now becoming gradually a revolution in India from the eyes of women and female characters. The movie has some drawbacks like too much of reality,over-patricarchal themes and lack of entertainment factor. But overall it is a movie that depicts the reality and at times gives glimpses of the fragile Indian male ego and the oppressed rural indian women. Some logics and characters and not entirely satisfied but dats okay.More importantly it shows the brutal reality with a straight face and no crutches and uses an into your mind approach thats makes the viewer feel the pain and turmoil the characters go through. Its succesfully sends the message it intends to and covers various issues of sexism, gender discrimination, reality, grey side of rural india, sex, domestic violence. Also it makes the viewer enjoy the drama and reality as it is wrapped up as an age old issue approach.Further the viewer who supports feminism or is a feminist gets a strong dose of reality and the movie sucks you into it and keeps you engaged in the drama.Mainly this movie is meant for female audiences and intends to empower women and make men with a patriarchal or sexist narrow mindset evolve and be better persons.…Expand
