They get small parts (No pun intended) and were easily the best parts of the movie. However, Larry Dayley is a boring, dull role to play and even though Stiller tries to craft memorable scenes, most of it falls flat. It's watchability doesn't rest in the hands of the cavemen, slightly stiff Robin Williams or the cute monkey But in the hands of Jed and Octavious. Those guys deserve their own film. Expand

The story sets in very well, but with some slow paced moments, it really kind of stresses a little bit. It has its funny moments and also has its heart-felt moments. As far as characters go, Larry Daley (Ben Stiller) is the only one that really has got what it takes to keep the movie going. Other characters such as Teddy Rosevelt (Robin Williams) and Sacajawea (Mizuo Peck) kind of make the story boring and uninteresting. Overall, even with its negativities, it's still a fun movie to watch. Expand

Night at the Museum is actually quite original in terms of plot, but it the execution that brings this flick slightly down. It definitely could've been better.

Night at the Museum is just a fun loving film.
There is nothing spectacular nor bad about this family comedy. Fairly predictable without much depth, but a few good laughs and a well paced cinema.

Fantastic little comedy movie for families. Ben Stiller provides a great performance as Larry the night guard and the cast around him does well in their roles. It's a good film I'd recommend to anyone

This movie is definitely not the "CGI-fest" it's been made out to be. Ben Stiller provides a great performance as Larry the night guard at a museum where everything comes to life. It's filled with plenty of laughs and great special effects.

Give this one a shot if you have to. At least it'll make you feel like you're in the actual adventure. For me, it just doesn't feel connective with its absolute adventurousness, but it still works as a movie.

The sequences when the museum exhibits come to life were so much fun and robin Williams shines as teddy roosevelt. The four old night guards dick van dyke micky rooney and bill cobbs are wonderful as the old night guards. It is a good movie overall. A good story that makes you laugh is all I needed to like it. The characters are pretty funny, but not great. I enjoyed it overall.

The idea is original but it certainly has passed through the minds of many fans of history who love to visit museums and feel like seeing the story come to life and happen before their eyes. And, in fact, most museums should gain more life and stop being just empty spaces, with showcases, exposed objects, dead things or old stones. People want to be in a museum who harmoniously combines culture, education and family fun. This movie "explores" these ideas to create a funny story where a night guard, naturally unprepared, is caught unaware by the abnormal nocturnal activity of the space that he must watch. There is a certain scent of adventure mixed with good jokes and first-class situational humor. Larry's attempts to keep things under control and the fights between some historical figures are great moments of humor. Among the actors, Ben Stiller naturally dominates all. Until I saw him working here, I considered him someone of little value, just another guy trying to be funny in stupid movies. Now I recognize that I may have been unjust in that judgement. Actors cannot be blamed for bad material that is given to them and can only shine when their has material that allow them to do so. That was Stiller's case in this movie. Also brilliant were veterans Dick Van Dyke and Mickey Rooney, in roles of villains. Carla Gugino, Ricky Gervais, Robin Williams, Steve Coogan and Owen Wilson make up the core of the supporting cast and have the time and opportunity to give their best. A great movie to watch in family and just laugh without worries. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. How can you miss a movie so hard with such an amazing cast? Come on: Ben Stiller, Ricky Gervais, Dick Van Dyck, Rami Malek, Robin Williams... What happened to y'all?

Scenario is really dumb, childish and doesn't let room for an adult approach of the movie. You have to wait almost an hour to let the movie get over the main joke which is (watch out for spoilers): everything in the museum is living during the night! Amazing. Only when the movie finished to make fun about itself you can tackle the main issue: what do you do with such a ridiculous, inconsistent and easy plot? Everything is so shallow. The only interesting subject is the relation between father (Larry) and son (Nicky) and even this the movie manages to ruin it all. It is almost impossible to develop any empathy for any character because they all are caricatures of themselves! Theodore is that awesome champion who has a fragile heart, the kid Nicky just want to be proud of his father but also want to see amzing stuff to believe in him, Nicky's mother is that mother who doesn't trust her ex-husband anymore. Everything is so shallow down here!

Fortunately all this mess ends on a apparently positive idea. I found interesting the subject to make young and elder generations consider the museums as something you can learn and have fun from. So the end is ridiculous (because it is literally impossible to get over such events) and interesting at the same time.

A dull, rather unfunny mess to be honest.
A CGI-fest that is poorly paced and filled with jokes that fall flat at nearly turn.
