The movie was hysterical. If you know Bruce Campbell and his career this movie is perfect for you. A lot of great meta humor that had the whole audience cracking up the entire time.

A silly yet extremely fun movie, a definite must if you are a fan of Mr. Campbell.
Go into this movie knowing what it is, a cheap and cheesy B-movie starring and directed by Bruce Campbell. Not by any means a masterpiece, but it was never meant to be, but what it is an entertaining film. The whole movie is a long string of self-parody and cheesiness mixed with bad jokes. Yes, it's stupid and a total B-movie, but for all of it's hammy nature it delivers exactly what any fan could want from Bruce Campbell. That's Bruce Campbell being Bruce Campbell, or at least the popularized view of him.
Campbell doesn't just make fun of himself here. The movie serves as a way to mock B-horror flicks as a whole. It's got the crappy special effects, dorky writing, and goofy monster that could've been pulled from any straight-to-dvd crapfest. What sets it apart is the humor.
It's a very self-aware film. One where Campbell makes knowing references to his career and the genre of movies he's known for as a whole. Among that are a bunch of juvenile gags that do manage to elicit laughs thanks to the man himself.
Overall, this is definitely a movie all about Bruce Campbell. One built from the ground up to please fans and keep them laughing. It does a great job at that. It's low-quality schlock with dumb humor, but that's all it's really trying to be. Bruce Campbell didn't just make a love letter to himself, but one for his fans as well. Those fans are sure to be entertained even if it is far from the most intelligent thing out there. Those unfamiliar with Campbell are likely to be baffled with what is going on.

Have to agree with the critics I'm afraid, and I'm a Bruce Cambell fan. I was so excited when I managed to get in to see it at Cannes, but came out gutted. Its just a string of fart gags and painfully bad acting. With a premise like that you'd have though there would be some Have to agree with the critics I'm afraid, and I'm a Bruce Cambell fan. Hopeless and inane, on a rare occasion it is funny, but the vast majority of the movie is crude and unfunny. What possesses people to make movies like this escape me.
