Dame Judi Dench's performance is the best part about this mysterious trip. Though what's much more than obvious and profoundly predictable is the killer's identity.

"Убийство в Восточном экспрессе" - красивый фильм. Но в фильме ничего нового, все как в книге. Уже было куча экранизации, не понимаю зачем было делать ещё одну? те кто не читал книгу, могут уже угадать кто убийца на середине фильма.

Nice setup, cheap looking CGI, cheesy ending.
Overall, a chock-full of mediocrity.

In short - I thought the movie was a real mess. None of the actors seem to want to be there (Josh Gad and Daisy Ridley in particular seem to rush through their lines with a certain sort of lazy eagerness). The pacing ebbs and flows, sometimes moving too fast for the admittedly-slightly-unengaged viewer to process, and other parts drag on for far too long with little consequence. The whole thing feels like a somewhat ill-advised passion project for Kenneth Branagh - a shame given that I'm typically an avid fan of his work. Expand

The acting was simply terrible as were most camera angles. Johnny Depp made a terrible Ratchett and I am convinced he must have been drunk in most scenes as he was slurring his words. In the original, no one left the train until the murder was solved by Albert Finney (Hercule Poirot). I beg the director, Kenneth Branagh, please, please, please don't make a sequel Death on the Nile, because you could never top the best Hercule Poirots that's ever been on screen, Peter Ustinov. Sets, trains-fabulous trains, costumes, performers, cinematography, music, what more could you ask? Well, maybe a more focused, and involving script with direction that knew what direction it wanted to take. Here’s a good story that’s maybe been reinvented one time too many. This glossy remake tries to be everything to everyone and that’s been proven impossible many times over – it’s a murder mystery, comedy, drama, romance, spectacle, that only just manages to be a little of them all. Kenneth Branagh, shows off as director and star (Hercule Poirot) and his big (but underused) international cast probably had more fun than some audiences might - except those who don’t expect a great deal from an over baked multimillion-dollar production. The trailer too looked impressive, but also sowed the seeds of apprehension about over promise. Maybe I expected too much but, it seems from an assortment of reviews, others also felt a little caught out - and to think, already, they are planning to remake more in this series. The end result is handsome looking foolishness - if that’s all you want, then you may not mind. Heavy use of CGI offers several eye-popping visual treats and it features a fairly good song over the end titles – sung, quite surprisingly well by Michelle Pfeiffer but, not a great deal else. That being said, this movie is nothing short of satisfactory. Although the acting particularly Kenneth Branagh was not bad at all, along with some of the other characters, this film really lacked a finishing touch and much more. The visuals on the screen are great, but don't really seem spectacular as oppose to everything else nowadays. The plot picked up and then fell off very quickly, lacking a twist or anything like that, granted of course it's based off of the subject material which I have yet to read. There wasn't anything in particular about this movie that is unique and it just seems to embody the word "Meh". Despite this, the film was well directed and the visuals above average. Again, I can't say that it changed anything from the subject material as of course, I haven't read it. Regardless this movie was not so good at all. Expand

Outside of a decent twist at the end, this is a pretty boring movie. Disappointing.

P.s Kenneth Branagh, please don't direct movies again because you are not able to.

I never read the book that this is based on or any of the previous movies or tv adaptions. This was my first experience with the famous title.

Firstly, the cast are all great with special praise to Kenneth as the detective. He was just a joy to watch and seeing him spit rapid information when he starts to figure parts of the mystery out is a sight to see. I also really love the cinematography which was gorgeous. However, my big issue is the murder mystery itself. A good murder mystery film or show is one where we understand the suspects and the clues. This is so we as an audience can learn and deduce it ourselves while the detective is solving it. The problem is that there is 13 suspects and only a 114 minute run time to explore them. Unfortunately, the suspects all feel one note and forgettable, with me not even remotely remembering what their name was. Some clues are also a bit too vague and I never felt like I was provided enough information at times. It got ridiculous when the movie reaches the climax and there are suddenly a bombardment of revelations that seem to come out of left field.

Nevertheless, it is still a fun mystery and there is definitely enjoyment to be had. Plus Kenneth has an amazing moustache.

Well done movie, excellent cast, the story line had no holes in it, why the low scores? It is a remake, guess they like the original.

A challenge that Kenneth Branagh seems to embrace, flexing with delicate and creative camera work, gorgeous cinematography and a prestigious cast the size of which can make you choke, Branagh found little things that make his adaptation unique if you know where to look, without soiling the source material. Branagh behind the camera is one thing, but what makes this film truly unique from its siblings is the performance of Kenneth Branagh as the great detective Hercule Poirot. Bragnah, very apparently using his theatre prowess and love of Shakespeare creates a powerhouse of a performance along with adding moments which allow other stars such as Michelle Pfeiffer and Josh Gad to shine. The film itself with an overly serious tone allows you to find humour in that seriousness but does not take away from the dramatic and emotional beats when they hit, and they hit very well. Branagh is far too underrated with his go as Poirot both in front of and behind the camera and I'm excited to see what other works he has in store for us to enjoy as the iconic character, if only to give David Suchet a run for his money. 9.3 out of 10 Expand

The picture is imbued with the spirit of the time of the story, quite cozy and interesting as a detective. There is some bad acting in places, but the overall experience is above average.

This movie is boring. You wait for it to take you so long that by the time it does it's basically already over. The twist on the revelation of the murderer is not enough to save a product that could easily have been managed and directed much better.
